What’s Happening With Rove

Just out from Washington Post:

Rove provided new information to Fitzgerald during 11th hour negotiations that “gave Fitzgerald pause” about charging Bush’s senior strategist, said a source close to Rove. “The prosecutor has to resolve those issues before he decides what to do.”

You just knew he would try to squirm his way out of this, but I don’t think it’ll work…

  2. Ugh says:

Could it be that Rove said “the President authorized me to leak her name”?

  3. Dumb Fox says:

What do you reckon folks, which of the Bushies is currently asking…

    Et tu, Brute?

  4. not_gonna_happen says:

What? Rove nark on his Frankenstein? Only to keep his own hide out of prison.

Rove told Fitz at the last minute that he was throwing Cheney under the wheels of the bus … but NOT if Fitz indicted him on Friday.

    #8 Sainte Germain,

  10. ohdave says:

And Rove throws the Hail Mary deep into the end zone… it’s off his hands… it’s bouncing around…Did Fitzgerald catch it?

  12. Jonathan says:

Um, wow. What on earth could Rove have given Fitzgerald that would have changed things? It sure sounds to me like he offered something pretty damned good.

It should be interesting to see how this plays out.

  13. Rosencrantz says:

The only reason NOT to indict Rove is if Rove turned in someone even higher up. Rove has already lied and stonewalled the investigation so there is no reason to trust him now, unless he can get dirt on an even bigger fish.

  14. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Fitzgerald is working for the GOP. You will all look like fools when this is over. Not that you could top yourself already!

  15. Jonathan says:

“Fitzgerald is working for the GOP. You will all look like fools when this is over. Not that you could top yourself already!”, NeD shrieked, wiping panicked tears away…

What the heck does that even mean? You don’t even make any sense when you know you’re defending something unethical and wrong.

  19. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Andrew – not defending anything. That would require the charges being known which they are not, at this point.

Amazing that liberals will not give Rove the due process they would give vicious murderers and terrorists. That might be why you are the “minority” party.

  20. Jay says:

From #17, correction, that aeticle was from Tuesday.

  21. Andrew says:

Technically, he reports ultimately to AGAG (as the redstate tin foil hat wearing types like to call him) so I guess he sorta works for the GOP but his ultimate commander in chief is the laws of the United States of America so no Ken Mehlman conspiracy theories please.

NED, you can stop sucking your thumb now. The GOP will still exist after these NEOCON thugs are exiled to Guam. It just won’t smell like rotten fish heads quite as badly.

  22. Jonathan says:

    NeD,
I can understand why you’d be upset, after weeks of claiming Wilson would be indicted and all.

Time to move on, NeD, and admit that something’s rotten in today’s GOP. You’ve been misled.

  23. Andrew says:

Due Process. Yeah, let’s watch as you trot that hypocrisy out, shall we? So Administration officials should be afforded due process and assumed innocent until proven guilty but everyone else is subject to arrest, can be deprived of basic civil rights, denied access to an attorney, be forced to stand for days at a time or suffocate to death while shackled to the ceiling.

Let’s see you stand up for the rule of law now. Go on. We’re waiting.

  24. Hannity Troll says:

Bush needs Rove around more than he needs Cheney.

    You tell ‘em NED.

  27. Pete Bogs says:

I imagine Libby’s removal after indictment will go like this: he’ll he hiding under a couch, in a fetal position, tearfully begging them not to do “do this” to him… same for Karl, once his indictments come down… it’s Jim Bakker all over again…

  28. Christine says:

Sorry to jump in off topic–I’ve been lurking for a while & I have to ask–JONATHAN: are you from NJ by chance?

    Ok, carry on friends!

  29. Jonathan says:

It will be very interesting to see just what Rove turned over to the prosecutor at the 11th hour that temporarily saved his sorry ass. “Oh, hey, here’s some notes I forgot to turn over!” Somehow I doubt it.

This is either an out-of-the blue “witness”, or an offer for a bigger fish.

  30. The Northeast Dilemma says:

#22 – you’re right. No matter what, conservatism exists and will be fought for long after Bushie leaves. That’s a problem for liberals – we’re smarter and much more resourceful than our ideological adversaries.

  31. Jonathan says:

    Christine,
Nope. I’m in the Maryland area.

  32. Michael Gregg says:

Could it be that some of us want Bush to go down so bad that we’re making things up?

    Predicted White House response.

“We are going foreward to serve the best interests of the American people, as we are in a time of war and the fight against terrorism. This is a great country and we are proud to serve the American people. We are making progress in the war on terrorism. As you remember September 11th, don’t forget it. The issues of the day are not going to impede our focus and determination.”

  36. Joe Sixpack says:

Hey, NED #20, howya doin? It me, Joe. Glad you see you show up and help me out defending the right take here. Boy, old Cheney is sure laying low, ain’t he? And how about that greasyassed sidekick of his, Scoooter? And what kind of real man has a nickname like “Scooter” anyway? I mean, the guys down at the bar would kick his ass up onto his shoulders just for answering to it, you know?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but hasn’t Rove had two years of “due process” and instead of being open and honest in the beginning, played the deceit game and is finally getting caught? I mean, I’m with you here, but even you have to admit that poor old Karl will get all the due process Republican and Taxpayer money can buy.

Hey, NED, I got a joke for you: Why are some of the rightwingers now saying Fitzgerald is nothing more than a glorified office boy?

Answer: Because they know someone has to take out the trash.

  37. kindness says:

Ned you idiot, don’t you have a miserable life somewhere?

I tell ya, I’m bad cause sometimes I can’t help but throw their crap back, but I also know it is petty of me to even bother. I ain’t Budda, what can I say.

But after yesterdays do with wwallace I could care less what the wingnuts who post here think or say. It’s not like they even represent anyone. They just want to pump their egos & try and anger us. I’m just sorry it succeeds from time to time.

    Happy Fitzmas everyone…

  38. For Truth says:

If I was NED and lived in the Northeast, I would have a dilemma too. The majority of people in the Northeast disagree with NED. It must suck.

  39. RemoveBush says:

NED, let’s just test your brilliance.

Which is more correct and sceintifically proven:

    Intelligent Design or Evolution?

Show me the proof that Intelligent Design shows that some super power created us? There’s plenty of evidence to show sceintifically that we evolved. Where is all the proof of humans, much like we are today in the museums? All I have ever seen is a neandorthal who is where we evolved from.

Show me a link or documented proof of Intelligent Design? This is the latest smart thinking by your kind, so present us with the data to support your theory! I don’t want to hear oppinion, show us the data. I can present tons of data to you showing how we are related and the probability of our evolution from one form to another.

Let’s see yours if your so smart, or at least as smart as you think you are.

  40. jbos says:

Wishful thinking that Rove threw a big name under the bus. Scooter’s going down.

  41. Andrew G. says:

    #41

The evidence that bacterium, flies, moths & etc. have evolved very rapidly in the last fifty years in response to pesticides is irrefuteable.

Ever caught the flu? Does GOD create a new flu virus each year?

Even people have different characteristics depending on what part of the globe they are from (people in extremely cold climes have shorter appendages than those in the temperate zone to reduce heat loss from their trunks).

  42. For Truth says:

The deal has been made. “We’ll give you Libby, but we get to keep Rove.”

  43. For Truth says:

Intelligent Design people reject evolution, because they refuse to evolve.

  44. RemoveBush says:

#43, what are you getting at? Are you agreeing that we Evolved?

It’s not clear what your stating.

I know this is off topic, but I just wanted to try and point out to NED that his thoughts are not the norm.

  45. Elvis says:

Or they (the Administration) gave up Libby at the last hour in return for Rove.

  46. Leonard Smith says:

That “information” was “I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE.”

  47. Redleg says:

    Northeast Dilemma,
Did you hear about Libby’s indictment on 5 felony counts? Ha ha ha ha. Rove’s next, you delusional sucker. Perhaps even big Dick himself.

  48. turk fowler says:

NED- You hypocritical fool! (I thought I’d join in with everybody and make rediculous claims about you that aren’t true) Don’t you understand that we evolved from nothing into something? Inorganic matter turned into organic matter and POOF, we got life! C’MON, that makes sense! It’s science! The guys with white lab coats and furrowed brows told us so! YA, that’s the ticket……
Turk has spoken, still waiting for the “magical organic” machine to be produced by the lab coat preists
