The NEA holds black children hostage and caring parents are stuck. How about this idea (since many Dems are long on criticism and short on suggestions). Let’s get rid of tenure. Let’s stop allowing average college students a teaching credential. Let’s pay starting teachers K-12 $80,000.- per year and $100,000.- per year for top flight teachers for the inner city/poor neighbourhoods. The emphasis of education for marginalized students might make the difference in a helping hand up.

So if the end goal is “diversity in perspective and thought”, why not simply go after that instead of creating the proxy of “diversity of life backgrounds” based on another proxy of “diversity of gender and ethnicity”?

Wouldn’t that be more straighforward and more likely to achieve the desired result?
