Vice President Cheney seems to have brushed off the felony charges against his most senior aide:
The criminal indictment of the vice president’s chief of staff, a rare moment in White House history, does not appear to have derailed Dick Cheney’s career — or even his routine.
The vice president has replaced the aide, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, with two other longtime assistants and seems prepared to continue his role as a central player in the Bush presidency, particularly on foreign policy and the Iraq war.
But the American people haven’t:
Vice President Cheney has never been as popular as the president, but his favorable rating is down nine points this year to just 19 percent.
Nobody likes me.
November 3rd, 2005 at 2:44 pm19% is stunning. I guess it is his warm personality
November 3rd, 2005 at 2:46 pmthat keeps him above 0%. ;^)
I wasn’t even aware they did Veep approval polls… good to see I’m not the only one who thinks Dick is one!
November 3rd, 2005 at 2:47 pmKeep up the good work Dick! You’re doing a heckuva job.
November 3rd, 2005 at 2:47 pmIt should be “0″ zero. Cheney should resign or be impeached.
November 3rd, 2005 at 2:47 pmLet’s all ignore NeD and see what happens!!!
November 3rd, 2005 at 2:49 pmagreed
November 3rd, 2005 at 2:55 pmYeah, I’m in too.
November 3rd, 2005 at 2:56 pmI can give it a try.
November 3rd, 2005 at 2:57 pm[...] Think Progress » Cheney Approval Nearing Rock Bottom at 19% [...]
November 3rd, 2005 at 2:59 pmI think maybe if he went for softer fabrics and a sunnier color palette, he could goose that number well into the low 20s!
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:01 pmDoesn’t he remind you of one of the villans from an old James Bond movie or that evil/CIA manager in The Eiger Sanction?
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:03 pmIt makes no difference except that it validates our feelings about darth vader of the White House.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:04 pmBush and he seem to have had some kind of a falling apart, but they are both still in place, and Bush won’t fire him, nor will he resign. He may die, but, things won’t change. We must change the House/Senate and then we can begin to remove them all from office.
Yow! I just read your comment runningdoglackey.
How about full tie dye garb?
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:05 pmCan anybody name a creepier vice president than Cheney?
Just look back in history… seriously, i’m curious. Was there ever a more sinister-appearing VP?
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:06 pmWho else feels like we’re getting close?
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:07 pmDoesn’t [Cheney] remind you of one of the villans from an old James Bond movie or that evil/CIA manager in The Eiger Sanction?
You’re not the first to make that observation. See here.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:13 pm#14 I’m thinking “unstructured.” Maybe Egyptian cotton, but definitely flowing and supple. Lose the necktie and the stroke-victim jaw-clench. Just a hint of a counterpoint in the accessorizing, perhaps a touch of silk. Mostly warm neutrals with a dash of high-color. Possibly a hat?
Note to Dick: Ditch the hunch and the board-room rigidity. Try out a few new words, say, “effulgence” and “serendipitity.” Always be seen with an adorable-but-unusual lap-pet, like a hairless cat or a Pekingese.
Oh, and stop referring to the things you want most as “The prescious…”
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:15 pmSince when does the popularity of the VP matter? What were Al Gore’s polling numbers? Nobody cares but you idiots.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:16 pmprecious Duh
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:17 pmNED is back as Randy.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:18 pmIt matters when the VP is viscerally detested.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:19 pmCome 2006 GOP heads are gonna roll. We are gonna win back the legislative branch. After that Bush and Cheney are gonna get what’s comin for’em.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:22 pmAt least Cheney has brought some type of meaning to the office of VP, even if it is evil.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:22 pmDon’t overlook Cheney’s counterpart to Nixon. Spiro Agnew was one of those you wouldn’t want behind you if he were wearing sneakers. There is an interesting parallel here at that. Except DUHbya will be proclaiming that he is not a cattle rustler.
A total humorous aside. There is a surgeon down in Texas bragging about his work. It seems he was called to an emergency room after a cowboy high on cocaine and alcohol rode his horse head-on into a speeding freight train. He said that the only pieces they could find were the horse’s ass and a cowboy hat but he was so successful that the patient survived and became the President of the United States.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:23 pmNED/Randy, you’re just too easy. However it does illustrate the simpleton mentality.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:24 pmCheney reminds me of Mr. Potter from It’s a Wonderful Life, only that’s a little bit unfair to Mr. Potter.
“You once called me a warped frustrated old man” :)
The fact that they’re talking about Rove stepping down on Faux News in and of itself is very telling. I’s say this ball of yarn is about halfway unravelled. This administration is in lockdown and the Shrub doesn’t know how to reach out and compromise. At this point the most likely scenario seems to be George gets frog-marched out of the White House in a strait jacket, jaw chugging, screaming how they’re all out to get him….”he had the weapons, God told me he had them…it’s Cheney’s fault….he lied to me….this is hard work!!!
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:30 pmNED/Randy,
Just go shopping and stop concerning yourself with it.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:36 pmCream,
I am not NED – Are you Ryan?
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:41 pmWow, that’s a lower approval rating than Nixon at resignation! Wonder how long until Bush catches up.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:41 pmDick Cheney is an great man, doing a job that most of his chicken-shit critics couldn’t even attempt to perform. Bush, Cheney and Rove have not been accused of anything, nor will they ever be. No crimes have been committed against that clown Wilson and his idiot, undercover agent-wannabe wife. With the exception of these ridiculous charges brought against Libby, of which he will most likely be acquitted, the adminstration is coming out very clean after a thorough investigation. Would all you left-wing zealots, please, just move on to something else? It’s over.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:44 pm“Dick Cheney is an great man”
Bahaha, oh wait, you were serious. Bahahaha
What a retard!
While we’re talking chicken shit, are you referring to the fact that Cheney is a chickenhawk? Or the fact that he helped prop up and sell WMDs to Iraq? or the fact that he SOLD THE PLUTONIUM REACTORS TO IRAN. Yeah, chickenshit is right, but the appropriate target of that adjective is Cheney and YOU. You aren’t a ‘real american’, you’re a ‘real fascist’ and a rightwing zealot.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:48 pmNo I’m not Ryan, sorry for the false assumption.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:49 pm“No crimes have been committed against that clown Wilson and his idiot, undercover agent-wannabe wife. “RightWingAssHat
Yeah right, then why does the CIA disagree with you on every point? Because republicans don’t care about facts, you exist on ‘opinions’. Because you have an opinion that’s wrong, you expect everyone to disregard facts so you can keep your opinion. This ‘trait’ is psychotic and a symptom of the mentally ill – it explains why you’re a republican following a fascist agenda.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:50 pmCheney. What a crook. Just like that other crook we once endured named Nixon. Nixon’s VP was probably runner up worst VP ever. Spiro T. Agnew got caught for taking a $10,000 bribe right across his little ‘ol desk.
Cheny’s evil ways are broader in scope and may take a little longer to be revealed. But Fitzgerald’s report shows that Cheney must be investigate for treason.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:51 pmRandy,
I can speak for myself, clearly that concept isn’t something republicans easily comprehend.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:51 pm#31,
It’s ok buddy, everything is gonna be ok, just close your eyes and think happy thoughts…..gooood. Pretty soon, it’ll all be over and the big bad liberals will be back in control of the serious business of running the country and you can go back to listening to Rush and Sean and all those great Americans on the right that are “lookin out for you”.
Oy!
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:51 pmI don’t believe Randy is Ned, but I do believe he’s almost as stupid as she is – as hard as that is to imagine…
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:51 pmRandy,
Gore didn’t run the country when Clinton was in power, the same can’t be said about Cheney. His polling numbers matter, just as much as his criminality and that of his office.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:52 pmWhy is there always one or two Right Wingers in this blog at any given time, but have several different names? Hmmm….
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:54 pm#38 – in Europe they have something called Sky television. It’s run by R. Murddock. All of us (Parisians, Englishmen, and thinking Americans alike) laughed ourselves silly at a stupid Repug Amerikan who was there claiming that Sky was as good as FOX News.
There is no end to the depth of Repug stupidity and denial of the truth.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:54 pmWould all you left-wing zealots, please, just move on to something else? It’s over.
Comment by A real American — November 3, 2005 @ 3:44 pm
Are you kidding? They aren’t going to move onto something else because they have nothing else. Their party is void of any idea of how to keep us safe from terrorism, continue the economic growth and are on the wrong side of social issues. We haven’t had a major attack since 9/11. The economy keeps chugging along, yet all we hear is doom and gloom from these people. They have yet to face the reality that they are no longer in power and continue to act as if they were. The “watergate” strategy will not work this time guys but let them keep thinking it will. Mean while, the Republican party can build on their majority.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:54 pmRandy,
In October of 98, just before midterm elections, Gore’s approval rating was at 53%. That’s the same as Bush and Cheney’s number COMBINED! Bahaha, how funny is that?
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:55 pmAh, the trolls. Is there no end to their stupidity and denial of reality?
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:56 pmRandy,
How would you know if anyone is devoid of ideas. A man who is shouting can never hear. Just because you’re too stupid and too deaf to hear anything, doesn’t make your erroneous and hysterical claims true – but it does show you’re an idiot.
November 3rd, 2005 at 3:56 pmThe republican party train and fund the terrorists, and they accuse others of ‘not having ideas’. Here’s a great idea, Republicans should stop funding and training terrorists! They should stop propping up dictators, like they propped up saddam to attack Iraq, or like they did when they installed the Shah to replace a DEMOCRACY. Republicans have a history of BAD IDEAS, the war in Iraq is just the latest in a VERY long line of republican failures.
Not only do republicans not have any good ideas for america, every idea they have is fascist, dangerous, illegal or just plain stupid.
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:00 pmHow much would you love to be stranded on a desert island with the 19 percent of the poll sample that approves of Cheney?
New on EWM: Kevin Bacon to play Libby in upcoming “Six Degrees of Scooterâ€
It’s ‘Dumb and Dumber’ meets ‘All the President’s Men.’
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:00 pmI meant to say.
“like they propped up saddam to attack Iran,”
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:00 pmI love it that at 19%, his approval rating is only down 9 points for the year. Do you think he misses the days when a whopping 28% approved of the job he was doing?
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:01 pmIt looks like Cheney’s popularity is in its last throes.
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:01 pm#49 – … and it was Bush the Smarter (#41) who gave the battle plans for attacking the Kharg Island oil terminal to Saddam’s military. Anyone remember when that successful Iraqi air raid was plastered above the fold across the nation’s various newspapers?
Oh. Wait. This isn’t opinion. It’s fact. Therefore Repug Trolls won’t understand the implications of what I just wrote. :-(
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:04 pm(bush 2005) 35 + (cheney 2005) 19 = (Gore 1998) 53
Gore had the combined popularity of bush and cheney – so much for republicans having a ‘majority base’. Just goes to show you that you can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can only fool the core republican fools all of the time…
Poor little psychotic losers…
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:04 pmHey I gotta admit the Dems are not as ballsy as Repubs, and are not seizing this moment to express more solutions. I encourage the Dems to step up. Oh yeah and “get me more ammo while I defend this embryo”.
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:04 pmIn October of 98, just before midterm elections, Gore’s approval rating was at 53%. That’s the same as Bush and Cheney’s number COMBINED! Bahaha, how funny is that?
Comment by Ryan Neat — November 3, 2005 @ 3:55 pm
You beat me to it. The next thing we’ll hear is that the folmulation was changed after the last election.
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:04 pmNow it’s “Bush 35% + Cheney 19% = SUPPORT FOR BUSH/CHENEY 54%!
I have an idea. Let’s spend $300 billion and 20,000 soldiers to give the Iranian mullahs control over another 20% of the world’s energy supply.
What? It’s been done? Oh…
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:05 pmRandy- Excuse the paranoia, lefties see ghosts behind every post. It’s scary for them so you need to be patient…
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:06 pmRyan- You’re clearly losing your edge. You used to be much more vulgar in your attempt to label righties. Have you found God while I wasn’t posting….? He’s been looking for you……
Turk is spreading the love
Yep. God will solve everything. Including this BushCo manufactured mess. These guys are no better than food for worms. That much we can count on.
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:08 pm“Turk is spreading the love”
Comment by turk fowler — November 3, 2005 @ 4:06 pm
I hope Mrs.Turk makes you wear a condom. Never know where that thing has been.
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:09 pmSorry, guys. If you keep repeating the lie that Democrats don’t have any ideas, you’re not going to get any respect. You may not agree with the ideas, and that would at least be a starting point for debate. But to deny their existence makes as much sense as… oh I don’t know… perhaps denying that Oliver North is a terrorists’ arms dealer?
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:10 pmcream, you’re new here, i’m guessing…take some time…look around…get the feel of things…but most important READ the posts – go back to #6 & 7,8, 9 for starters….
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:10 pmand pardon my forwardness here, but i have a suggestion for your name – all U’s, as in sumyunguy…gg if you want…just a thought…clever, not?…
oh, and “one or two Right Wingers” is usually the minimum here…don’t let them get to you…best to ignore them – right, ryan??? ;-)
another thought, for all – does “A real ?” sound familiar? was it concerned conservative who lost that bet? just curious….
Way to go Randy, you refrained from bringing up the word “Clinton” even once in your myoptic rant. Now proceed to pull your head out of the collective GOP ass and you’ll truly be making headway.
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:11 pmkaty,
Not really. Ignoring them leaves their smears and lies unchallenged – that’s what democrats have been doing wrong for years. Challenging republicans and their lies is the ONLY hope this country has, both on the forums and in real life. These people are INSANE, and they must be stopped through facts, reason, rational rebutting and frankly shoving their face in their own lies like a puppy who’s messed the rug – because that’s what the spread – crap!
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:14 pmThe American People Are Speaking
They’re saying that they have a serious problem with the Vice-President:
Even so, neither Congress nor the White House will find much in a new CBS News poll to put them in a better humor. President Bush’s job approval has reached the lowest level …
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:14 pmturk,
I respond to the audience and their postings. Vulgar republicans, get vulgar responses. A knee jerk hysterical and unmeasured republican like yourself wouldn’t understand context or measured responses. It’s not in your nature or skillset.
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:16 pmtouche’ ryan…you are correct…but i was joking, hon – wink!
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:17 pmParanoia is the realm of the reichwing – how else would one explain all of the threats of ‘mushroom clouds’ from a petty dictator who had been invaded, bombed and crushed both militarily and economically. Paranoia is always the realm of fascism – and so is projection. Randy demostrates the first trait of republican propagandists, accuse others of your negative traits so that when you are called on them they don’t seem as ‘new’. This only works for the 35% of americans who were raised by stupid parents. The rest of the country wakes up to the tactic eventually.
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:18 pmWow, 19% approval. There are more people in this country that still idolize Michael Jackson – that’s just embarrassing! Republicans should hang their heads in shame, but then that would require they have any.
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:20 pmI have a friend who although a Democrat, thinks Cheney is hot! She says she likes his skin because it looks so smooth. I told her he probably keeps it that way by eating live babies…
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:21 pmDid someone say “fowl turd”?
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:23 pminteresting background noise for me – randi rhodes has been reading porn from libby’s, lynncheney’s and o’lielly’s books…really bad stuff…hypocrites…
IDEA: a guy called in to her show yesterday with a great idea: ideally at an organized date/time frame, if EVERYONE of us would send 4 envelopes or postcards to 1. white house, 2. congress, 3. nytimes, 4. to self, with the words “IMPEACH BUSH” on them, someone would get the idea….thoughts anyone?
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:25 pmWho are the 35 to 39 that still support bush?
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:25 pmthe only people i see with bush bumper stickers are old ladies and dudes in squeaky clean 4×4s.
are there that many?
Old ladies don’t have internet access?
Dick sucks.
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:26 pm72
i like
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:26 pmI have actually seen postcards with political messages on them. It seems it would be better to send to CONGRESS.
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:28 pmReps shake in their shoes when the heat is on.
#72 – Just name the date and time. I’ll get postcards mailed appropriately.
A couple million of these ought to wake someone up, eh? :-)
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:28 pmJesus! First Bush and now Cheney’s ratings in the crapper. Go ahead and gloat, liberals. Have your fun. Laugh. Look in the mirror and smile at yourselves. Watch America wake up and turn its back on our elected leaders. I mean, you ain’t hurting me and NED or mighty aphrodite cause we can put up with anything.
But correct me if I’m wrong, was that loud scream heard coming from Dick Cheney’s office today the “F” word?
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:32 pmrandirhodes talked about starting it on monday…the idea guy suggested closer to 06 election…i’m hoping randi brings it up again today…it ought to be a MASS mailing, a coordinated effort…couldn’t be more easy though!
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:32 pmI watched Foxy news for over an hour during prime time on Sunday, I found that the Libby indictment did not exist and Ollie North was hired by them, to have his own show.
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:35 pmI watched Foxy news for over an hour during prime time on Sunday, I found that the Libby indictment did not exist and Ollie North was hired by them, to have his own show.
Purdy Saweet! If that don’t shuck off a rabbit’s foot and hope it’ll make this mess go away!
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:38 pmIt takes months if you mail to Washington. You need to send to local offices..
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:38 pmI think that if “Crash Cart” Cheney gets to call from Fitz again to give testamony, that we get the CIA torture thugs to do the interrogation. He believes in it, and would love to see how the game is played, Palestinian arm hold and all.
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:41 pmDoesn’t he remind you of one of the villans from an old James Bond movie or that evil/CIA manager in The Eiger Sanction?
Yes, I think his name is Dick ‘dragon’ Cheney.
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:44 pmHas to have a complete blood transfusion every month or so.
What I want to know is, just who are these people that make up the 19%?!
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:53 pmDoes anyone want to guess what he approval rating is among African Americans?
November 3rd, 2005 at 4:59 pmDoes anyone doubt the wisdom of the American people to make prudent decisions when first given the full and honest truth?
Is there anyone out there among this grand Algonquin roundtable of slime we seem to have going here who wouldn’t gladly kick his own hero’s ass out the door if that hero proved to be a fraud?
Right wing, left wing, I prefer the chicken wing.
I choose a Liberal point of view because history shows us that the less of a divide between the rich and poor, the powerful and powerless, the aggressor and the victim (etc), the healthier and more stable a society is. And because I do not believe that greed and power can police themselves.
Not because one side is “stoopid,” and the other isn’t. If John McCain can work with Lefties, why can’t you? If Clinton could compromise with Righties, why can’t you?
Come see me at http://www.guntotingliberal.blogspot.com
and read my zippy little posts. I laugh when I write, I almost cry at times. You will too. Leave a comment and let me know someone’s eyes but mine have had a look.
BTW, I’d love ot know what all you regulars do for a living. I think your bosses should know what you do all day (as should mine, I guess).
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:04 pmI would hope that Cheney, Halliburton and the reich-wing foundations would donate generously to help the veterans of his ill-conceived global strategy recover their lives.
Somehow, I doubt it.
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:05 pmDang, I think Hitler’s numbers were better than that.
I work for the government. Really.
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:10 pmFaith Based Missile Defence! God will smack the missiles out of the sky. Coming soon… Faith Based Economics… God will rain down natural resources on us all. We just need to pray…
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:13 pmGod also makes whites whiter, cures male pattern baldness and makes internet connections faster.
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:14 pmThe secret CIA prisions may well end up being the ironclad justification for a premature end to this administration.
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:16 pmDid anyone else see the Delay/Scanlon/Abramoff memo today? Apparently they don’t think much of conservative republican voters. These poor sickos who vote republican get what they deserve.
“The wackos get their information through the Christian right, Christian radio, mail, the internet and telephone trees,†Scanlon wrote in the memo, which was read into the public record at a hearing of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee. “Simply put, we want to bring out the wackos to vote against something and make sure the rest of the public lets the whole thing slip past them.â€

I am from Louisiana. It’s stunning how much money was involved with the Jena tribe. The area in question is extremely disadvantaged economically.
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:22 pmI was just having a senior moment, please forgive my stupidity.
Bush sucks and will be chimpeached!
Cheeney sucks and everyone knows he is evil.
I hate them all!
Go Dems!
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:33 pmAMEN!
chimpeach the lying bastards!
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:34 pmI doubt the VP’s commitment to torture. I mean, I know he’s pro-torture, but I won’t believe he’s really committed to it until he is televised *personally* torturing an unidentified “ghost detainee” at a secure undisclosed location nestled somewhere in a European “democracy.” Until I can turn on the TV and watch the VP personally and with his own bare hands torture someone held incognito without charge, I won’t believe his commitment, i.e., I’ll stick with “Desperate Housewives.”
I think this is the kind of outreach he needs to do right now, to cut through the noise and chatter and really clarify his brand promise in the minds of the public. The fashion suggestions above are excellent, but they need to be harnessed to a really outside-the-box PR offensive if the VP wants to change the game and restore the faith of the American people in his office.
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:34 pmI hate cheeney!
some say he needs a heart! I say just a new oil pump!
Chimpeach!
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:35 pm#90 – I think hitlers #’s were better than that among jews in concentration camps.
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:38 pmI am sorry, I had a bad moment when I thought I still liked
Dick cheeney – the chickenhawk coward extrodinaire
Chimpeach
I am such a reich=-wing idiot!
As God is my witness, I will never spew reich-wing Nazi talking points again.
forgive me for being such a stupid ass
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:42 pmIf cheeney loves torture, lets get Fitz to use it when questioning him.
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:46 pmPoor Cheney – Sending thousands of young men to die for one’s stock portfolio gets a bum rap these days.
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:50 pmRock bottom 19%…. Who cares, I’m in my batcave vault rolling in my money $$$$$$$$$$$$ come to papa $$$$$$$$$$$$$$… weeeeeee…. Ahhhh shit my f’n knees.
November 3rd, 2005 at 5:51 pmDick cheney!

What is a dick chainey ? is that what you attach to a johny cock ring?

I absolve you in the name of Think Progress, Patrick Fitzgerald, and the Liberal Spirit! Amen.
Please, welcome the new converts…!

November 3rd, 2005 at 6:13 pm#15 creepy VPs…Spiro Agnew comes to mind
November 3rd, 2005 at 6:15 pm#87 Well, let’s see, there’s…um…uh…oh, I don’t know…um…uh…Armstrong Williams? Okay, that’s one. And…uh…um…..sheesh…probably JC Watts and…uh…um…oh, I give up! I can’t think of any others…can you?
With Bush’s approval numbers among blacks at around 2%, I’d have to guess Cheney’s must be around 0.004%. Tops!
November 3rd, 2005 at 6:28 pm#72, Katy,
November 3rd, 2005 at 7:46 pmI have been reading exerpts from the books by these three authors and I am astonished at the writing by the self-proclaimed morality police.
Nothing wrong with racy books, but don’t claim to be morally superior. They can’t see their own hypocrisy. They are too busy gazing at their own reflections.

According to recent polls, Cheney is approved of by exactly one half of one African American.
November 3rd, 2005 at 7:48 pm#72, All those ads with self-addressed prepaid envelopes inside? I send them back in the mail so those mailbox clutterers have to pay the postage, AND I write political messages on the back like IMPEACH BUSH or AWOL: BUSH, or BUSH LIED – PEOPLE DIED.
November 3rd, 2005 at 7:50 pmIt’s cheap, it’s fun and kills two birds with one stone.

November 3rd, 2005 at 8:04 pmThe republicans only believe what they want to believe. The truth has never entered into it. The republicans I know are, for the most part, ass holes…
November 3rd, 2005 at 8:10 pm“President Bush, not looking good. His approval rating is down to 38. 38! That’s lower than Dick Cheney’s pulse. In fact, his approval rating is so low he’s actually eligible for FEMA assistance now. And It gets worse. According to the new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, among African Americans, President Bush’s approval rating is 2 percent. You know who the 2 percent are? Condoleezza Rice and Clarence Thomas.”

November 3rd, 2005 at 8:35 pmDidn’t Gregor Samsa awake from uneasy dreams to find himself transformed into a gigantic Republican?
November 3rd, 2005 at 9:07 pmKaty, It would be nice if someone developed a litmus test for hypocrisy. We could test all officials before they take office.
November 3rd, 2005 at 9:14 pmre: #42
If your republican induced economy is indeed “chugging along” then why are you stealing from my great-great-grandchildren? Show your economic genius and balance the freaking budget! Oh wait it’s so much easier to keep writing IOU’s.
November 3rd, 2005 at 9:34 pmDick Halliburton: Cold-Blooded Executive of the People!
You want to learn more about Libby’s successor Blackadder, read MoDo’s column. If you haven’t got Times Select, go to my blog and read it in its entirety.
November 3rd, 2005 at 9:49 pmDick Cheney: World-Class War Monger and Big Time War profiteer.
Plot Cheney’s popularity against the value of his Halliburton options….I suspect there’s a significant negative correlation.
Who’s the 19%? 100% of Halliburton stockholders, the rest aren’t paying attention.
November 3rd, 2005 at 10:23 pmI wonder what Lynn’s poll numbers are, that warm fuzzy bitch who writes the children’s books that no one reads…

November 3rd, 2005 at 10:51 pmStrictly on the QT. Junior has dubbed Scooter’s replacement, “Water Boy”. Something about David Addington’s preferred information extraction technique at Gitmo,Abu Grahib, Afghanistan, and now apparantly, the backblocks of Russia have their brand spanking new Neo Gulags. God’s gift of Democracy knows no bounds or borders. When you’re a Neocon, you’re a Neocon all the way. You bet.
November 3rd, 2005 at 10:52 pmOh yeah, and Cheney sucks. I love his nickname crashcart cheney. My bets on natural causes. The taxpayers will save millions in prosecution costs.
November 3rd, 2005 at 10:53 pmDare I mention daughter Mary Cheney? Well, we all know she has no interest in poles(polls) whatsoever.

Yes, something like that –except I awoke to find myself in a world where the rules I knew no longer apply: Invading countries and nation building are not imperialism but “democratising”, anti-intellectualism is in and critical thinking is out, evolution is not science, global warming is not happening, tyrannies are bad except when they give us money, war is peace, up is down, and black is white.
I feel like I am in a bad dream right now…

November 3rd, 2005 at 11:20 pm19% ?! No way that’s impossible. I don’t buy that crap.
November 3rd, 2005 at 11:41 pmIt’s just not possible. Who did this “poll” and what were the methods “laoded questions”? I just refuse to believe that 19% of the people in this country could still support a lying treasonous bastard, no way ….it’s just not possible.
Is the VP a bastard or is the bastard a VP? Either way I’m glad he’s there and not here in NZ. Why in hell did you guys vote these nuts into power?
November 3rd, 2005 at 11:47 pm#138
Don’t forget that a number of people in certain sections of this country work in industries such as oil, gas, natural resouorces and defense.
I do wonder, however, if it will dip into single digits?
November 3rd, 2005 at 11:48 pmI think it’s time they shifted his defibrillator into a higher gear. Maybe a few more shocks every now and then would remind us that the VP is a feeling human being. None of his actions thus far have.
November 4th, 2005 at 12:25 amI can’t wait for the dual impeachment, Senate trial and conviction. Remember when the two of them had to appear together during some of the 911 hearings? Well, maybe they’ll do it again!
November 4th, 2005 at 12:54 am“19% ?! No way that’s impossible. I don’t buy that crap.”
I don’t buy it either. I can’t believe there are still 20% morons who can’t wake up and smell the flowers after all the crap that has been going on.

November 4th, 2005 at 2:47 amI think Dick Cheney and Bush are great. They are the best leaders we have ever had. The democrats are a bunch of bleeding-heart poofters who are too scared to use force. Guys, don’t you understand? These are only Muslims we are talking about here. They don’t understand the value of life like we godly people. God has sent Bush and Cheney on a divine mission to eradicate all the enemy. Burn them all. They are not Christians. God hates them and has sent us on a mission.
They have never lied, and they have never made a mistake. Their were weapons of mass destruction, but they were hidden from us. P.S. Rest of the world: we don’t care what u think. We are right you losers, and we are gonna show it soon.
November 4th, 2005 at 2:54 amBut then again, I am an idiot.
Bush and cheeney will be interrogated by the gitmo police….
that will get ‘em talking.
I am sorry I am such an idiot, reich=-wing supporter.
November 4th, 2005 at 3:04 amThat was not me before. That was some Californian/New York/D.C. liberal communist.

Oh, really? So Plymouth rock was originally located in Alabama?
I’ve been to Texas, and frankly if I were you I wouldn’t brag about it.
November 4th, 2005 at 3:43 amNo but we founded the values that made America great.
November 4th, 2005 at 3:54 amThanks, Y’all are cute with the tongue wagging.
How about some serious movement? Call those Senators and Congresspersons to install a bigger D*ck now that the ‘buffoon’ has been discredited. Put the creep in JAIL. Then work to dismantle the machine that installs your thoughts.
Free? Free to what? Try to say something bad about our “elected” leader in public and the SS will be paying you a visit shortly.
Look deeper please.
PS What happens to the edicts, decrees and presidential memo’s once Shrubbie is proved to be illegally in the casa blanca? Does all that legislation just fade away?
This administration has borrowed more then 1.5 TRillion dollars to date. All the past presidents COMBINED borrowed 1.4 Trillian.
He wasn’t meant to last and it is amazing to ‘them’ that Shrubbie has lasted this long.
Beware whose next! Better yet, beware who the PEOPLE will install next! :)
November 4th, 2005 at 4:00 amThis president is the greatest. What u are saying is all lies. Cheney never did that stuff with Halliburton; it’s just a left-wing conspiracy.
Long Live Freedom!!!
I can’t believe how many America haters there are on this forum.
November 4th, 2005 at 4:06 amAs one of the 81% of us who (for some reason …) fail to recognize Cheney’s greatness, I find myself to be not particularly concerned with whether Cheney’s frog-marched out of his office in handcuffs in the near future or simply forced to resign for health reasons.
I -do- find myself concerned with whether or not he’s able to keep his share of Haliburton’s obscene war profits. (If I understand correctly, his shares of Haliburton stock are held in trust while he’s in office, and he stands to make quite a bit of money for the help he’s given his former company when he reenters the private sector.)
I’ve never found any other rationale given for Cheney’s advocacy of the war in Iraq to be credible. (It’s certainly possible that some neocons advocated the war on ideological grounds, but I’ve always assumed that Cheney’s motives were transparent and entirely profit-based.)
It’s certainly tragic that so many people have died and so many have had their lives ruined to make Cheney richer, and it’s obviously important that this madness stop and the war end as soon as possible. I think that it would be almost as tragic to allow Cheney to profit from this madness, and – if we were living in a sane world – statutes against war profiteering would be enforced and he wouldn’t be able to.
A Google search for ‘Cheney “war profiteering”‘ returned something over 122,000 hits. I assume that this means that many other people share these concerns, but it doesn’t seem that the issue’s received much mainstream media attention (at least in the US.) The US media and public seem to have caught on to the notion that the administration was obsessed with the idea of invading Iraq and distorted the facts (and coopted the press) in order to justify the war, then went to great lengths to discredit opposing (reality-based) points of view. The tacit assumption seems to be that this was all done because of some combination of political hubris and zealous adherence to questionable neocon ideology (PNAC, etc.) The possibility that Cheney’s motivation for his substantial role in all of this is a little simpler and a little more venal than that still seems a little too far out there for the MSM (or Congress) to seriously consider, but I think that evidence that supports the simpler (”more venal”) interpretation is readily available.
November 4th, 2005 at 5:11 amhmmm, 19% approve, eh??? Well, at least we have the encouraging knowledge we only have 81% of America on our side, when the time comes…..
November 4th, 2005 at 5:32 amBeware of blaming Cheney for Bush’s crimes. The buck doesn’t stop with Rove or the vice-president. It stops in the Oval Office.
November 4th, 2005 at 7:18 amThey should start elecronic survey without any paper trails, and Cheney/Bush will come out being the most popular admin in history.
November 4th, 2005 at 7:57 amWell 81% of Americans hate america!!!! We are the real americans! We were sent by God himself.
Long live America!!! Cindy Sheehan has made no sacrifice to our country; she is just talk, talk talk. What a looser!!!!
November 4th, 2005 at 8:11 ami agree

November 4th, 2005 at 8:14 amrepublicans suck!democrats suck!let’s get a new party in here.our forefathers would be very upset.jesus christ will live, untill then we will watch mankind all over destroy the most precious things we have.
November 4th, 2005 at 8:17 amhey 158, republicans did not found this country.as a matter of fact the republican party was not around yet.did you take social studies in texas?
November 4th, 2005 at 8:22 amThis, and Bush-boy’s lousy 35% make all to obvious how much cheating was going on in the ‘04 elections. We didn’t vote for this adminstration, it was thrust upon us,
And we’re so stupid as to believe we’re finally catching on. There’s a damn good chance nothing will ever be the same again. Then look in the mirror, America. You’ll want to kick your ass.
November 4th, 2005 at 8:25 amCan you say “institutional revolt”. ha ha ha. Death by 1000 cuts for Dr Svengali.
Will take more than polls to get through that Rhino hide though, I bet. Man needs something a little stronger than public disapproval.
November 4th, 2005 at 8:39 amHe’s fallen below the Mendoza line :)
November 4th, 2005 at 9:13 amThe best description of Cheney I’ve seen on a blog is:
The fat bastard dressed like an Electrolux salesman!
Hey, no one would rate an Electrolux salesman any higher than 19% would they?
November 4th, 2005 at 9:44 amCheney will never be impeached and neither will Bush. There are two reasons.
1. they are in power, they have stacked the courts and the government agencies serve them. They just won’t allow it. The only reason Libby is being tried is that they need a scapegoat.
2. Americans forget too easily. Bush has been a problem since the he first took office. Even in England we saw the crime against democracy that was the bush Administration. The repeat reacounts, the disenfrachisement of voters, by Bush’s cousin! The smear campaigns against the opposition. How long did the americans fight against this? One month maybe? We’ve seen Tax cuts for the rich, the removal of benefits and medicaid(medicare? can never remember that). We’ve seen the “war on terror” change colours over and over: a war to stop terrorists and find Bin Laden, no it’s a war to stop Sadam because he has and supplies WMD to terrorists and has links, no wait it’s war on Sadam cos he’s a dicatator and could may well be dangerous (who mentioned WMD’s? Not us!)
And still half the country (give or take 10% for the errors on voting machines, dissproportionate distribution of said machines particularly in poor, minority area’s) voted to have Bush and Cheney Re-elected. And now After hit’s by multiple hurricanes, the destruction of New Orleans which saw bush/cheney/condoleeza still on holiday(vacation)three days in, America has been satiated with the resignation of Michael Brown (who is still being paid) and the impeachment of one Aide…..What part of them being on holiday in time of disaster makes them safe from investigation?? Come on America! Get that pillock out of office! And for god’s sake send us Michael Moore! I’d love to see him let loose on Tony!
November 4th, 2005 at 9:53 am*damn, can’t edit the eronious “the” in the third paragraph. Ignore it please!
Impeach Bush!
November 4th, 2005 at 9:55 amI too believe that the Bush/Cheney ticket lost in ‘00 and ‘04. In ‘00, the republicans had not quite mastered voting machine manipulations and had to depend on Kathrine Harris and the cronies that Bush’s father had appointed to the US Supreme Court. By ‘04 the republicans had vote manipulation down to the flip of a few switches! Also, Bush had a 42% approval rating right before the ‘04 election. Newsflash! You cannot win an election with just a 42% approval rating, but you can flip some electronic vote switches and win time after time. Most democratic reps. are still saying, “Aw shucks, nobody would do that.”
November 4th, 2005 at 10:00 amMr. FU Cheney is an evil tyrant, and will get his just rewards very soon! He is responsible for the death and destruction, along with his buddies, and the Universe will take care of all of them. At no time in our history have such evil criminals been in control of the government. All we need do is sit back and watch their complete downfall. Perhaps, as Hitler did, they will end their own suffering.
November 4th, 2005 at 10:18 amI also believe totally that they stole both elections, and I sincerely hope that SOMETHING is done before the 2006 election!!! IMPEACH THEM ALL!
November 4th, 2005 at 10:20 amSo only 19% support cheney?
Why the suprise, I mean he is a mean old troll after all……
November 4th, 2005 at 10:52 amHas anyone noticed the similarites be republicans and lemmings? Like lemmings, republicans seem like they are unable to think for themselves. They blindly follow that tail in front of them. Void of any independence, having no thoughts of their own. I have witnessed this where ever they gather. They only seem capable of repeating what they have heard on Fox or Rush or what is delivered to them with the morning donut. I would wager that if we could get the top lemmings(republicans) headed for a cliff(November 2006), the rest would follow. What a sight that would be.
November 4th, 2005 at 10:52 am..ummmm, If these bastards were actually elected, shouldn’t their approval be…well, somewhat higher, somewhat more representaive of the so-called majority, you know, the, uh, mainstream?
November 4th, 2005 at 10:59 amGood idea Dave. Actually, if Delay or Frist said to jump for Jesus they would go. AND, if there were money for the “cause” in it for Delay, he would tell them to jump. I suppose we could make a phony commercial and that would take care of a portion. And if aired on Fox…
November 4th, 2005 at 11:04 ampoliticians do not know what feedom is.how can they protect it.they are not free.they are ran by lobbyists and other special interest groups.people “helping”them get elected to get what they want done, either liberals or conservative.bush and cheney are evil men don’t get me wrong, but we get rid of them we will find the next evil man.so just patiently wait for 3 more years and maybe somebody will lobby a retarded chimp into office, and we will still be better off than we are right now.nothing will ever change.washington will always ran by overgrown kindergardners.we would all be better off instead of impeaching to just quit paying taxes.who would want to do that job for nothing?
November 4th, 2005 at 11:19 ami loved the part where rove said tim russert told him the cia agents name/that was good.
November 4th, 2005 at 11:29 amHere is the lyrics to an important song that Pete wrote right after 9/11. If you want to hear the song, go to iTunes and look up the CD “Exploriation”, by Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion. Pete asked them to record the song. Sarah asked Pete if she could add a verse for Cindy Sheehan, he was delighted and looks forward to it.
It’s time to learn this song and SING ALONG WITH PETE!
Dr. King
Words and music,
by Pete Seeger
Down in Alabama
Nineteen hundred fifty five
Not many of us here
Tonight were then alive
A young Baptist Preacher
Led a bus boycott
He showed the way
For a brand new day
Without firing a shot
Don’t say it can’t be done
The Battle’s just begun
Take it from Dr. King
You too can learn to sing
So, drop the gun!
Oh, those must have been exciting thirteen years
Young hero’s, young herons
There was laughter there were tears
Students at lunch counters
Even dancing in the streets
To think it all started
With Sister Rosa refusing to give up her seat
(chorus)
Songs, songs kept them goin’ and growin’
They didn’t realize the millions of seeds they were sowin’
They were singing in marches even singing in jail
Songs gave them to courage to believe they would not fail
(chorus)
Sing about Alabama nineteen hundred fifty five
Since 9/11 we wonder, will this world survive?
The world learned a lesson from Doctor King
We can survive, we can, WE WILL!
SO, WE SING……(chorus)
November 4th, 2005 at 11:38 amDick deserves a fair trial
November 4th, 2005 at 12:11 pmIt’s about time Americans make a stand against the Bush Regime. What took so long????? It’s a shame Americans fell for all these lies and deceit. I pray for the families of our dead military forces and hope the rest of the world can forgive Americas stupidity. We and the Press have allowed this to happen. Get some backbone people.
November 4th, 2005 at 12:30 pmCheney is evil incarnate. 19% is still too high an approval rating. When we’ve reached 0% for both Cheney AND Bush, then we’ll know this country has woken up and we can change for the better. Until then, the United States is still in deep, deep trouble.
November 4th, 2005 at 1:04 pmIt’s funny how the only “argument”
that’s trotted out in favor of Bush is that
“We haven’t had a major attack since 9/11″
Well, guess what — We didn’t have such an attack
BEFORE 9/11 either!!!
Dubya stands alone as the
only “president” to allow a major
attack in American soil by foreign terrorists, and
to take advantage of it to obtain dictatorial powers
and enrich his cronies.
(And yes, when the right wing says “no major attack
November 4th, 2005 at 1:39 pmsince 9/11″, of course they mean an Al Qaeda attack on
American soil — because other sorts of attack we’ve had plenty of since 9/11
– remember the American-produced anthrax
letters which closed down Congress?)
well, again, your trying to get me to comment on the investigation, which i’m not going to do.and i hope you understand that.it’s a serious investigation, and it’s an important investigation.but it’s not over yet.
November 4th, 2005 at 2:11 pmi AM such and Idiot!
I hate bush, and he will be tried for war crimes.
November 4th, 2005 at 2:11 pm#139 Most of us didn’t! Of course, a lot of Americans didn’t bother to show up, either, and that’s why the Republicans like to claim that they have the support of the entire country because the minority that sided with them beat the minority that sided with us.
When liberals put down their bongs and go vote, we usually win. We just have a hard time remembering which day of the week it is. Can’t figure out why.
November 4th, 2005 at 2:17 pmi’m gay!
November 4th, 2005 at 2:49 pmtexans are as bad as muslims.
November 4th, 2005 at 2:50 pmi choke my chicken at work
November 4th, 2005 at 2:51 pmIcannot help but titter (with an occasional snort), as I witness the frenzied freakout of the GOP. Alot like cockroaches, when the light is turned on. Poor Bill Frist, he was SO pissed, his toupee was askew. And his face looked like that man’s, from the Indiana Jones movie, nanoseconds before it melted.I declare, I felt a flicker of alarm….Anyway, I am feeling….alot.
November 4th, 2005 at 3:02 pm“When liberals put down their bongs and go vote, we usually win. “WayneALyingShame,
Is that why 1/2 million more voters picked Gore than Bush?
Is that why the voters who the democratic senators represent is MORE than the republican senators?
Is that why only 35% of americans approve of Republicans?
Is that why the exit polls showed an almost 3% victory for Kerry, but the Diebold machines mysteriously had Bush win?
Republicans don’t win at the polls, Republicans STEAL at the polls. Republicans are common thieves and mobsters playing at politics as a game of crookery. And fools like you that support them and their coup d’etats are fools and traitors! You are unamerican!
November 4th, 2005 at 3:16 pmI verbosely pontificate in the negative regarding the Vice President Richard Cheney.
November 4th, 2005 at 3:29 pmFirst time on the board, Yee Haw, you folks got some real humdinger trolls.
The Rule of Law will prevail as the Repubs used on Clinton. Massive voter backlash against the convictions of Republicans (pun?), and their arrogant greedy sucking up to Big Oil and the mega rich will be their long term undoing.
Warriors who fight for peace and responsibility will destroy those who fight for rights and money. Fighting for love and peace will give us the power and authority to skin them alive for their atrocities and immorality.
They won’t go easy, but the when they do it will be for 1000 years.
November 4th, 2005 at 3:29 pmI have no respect for Dick Cheney and I challenge him to Google me – Horseonovich – and learn what a formidable force I am in the land of the internets.
November 4th, 2005 at 3:31 pm[...] Cheneys approval rating was at 19 %. [...]
November 4th, 2005 at 3:35 pm#188 Okay, please calm down, my friend. I am often impressed and in agreement with your many fine posts. I was trying to make a little joke there. I guess it wasn’t particularly amusing. (The “we” was us liberals. When WE get out and vote, WE win.)
For the public record, I have NEVER voted for a Republican and I NEVER will! When a Republican is the only one running for a particular office, I just don’t cast any vote on that line. I am completely against their platform and I quite frankly can’t understand how intelligent, thoughtful, caring people can ever support them. It boggles my mind. I just believe that voter apathy has been one of our downfalls. hence the “put down the bong” joke.
And I do believe that electronic voting machines played a part in some of the voting irregularities in recent elections that mysteriously gave victories to Republicans but never (it seemed) to our Democratic candidates.
I am a liberal/libertarian and I did a five-plus year stint in the Air Force (”Cold War” Veteran – never saw combat.)
I began voting when Bill Clinton came along. (I apologize to everyone if my bringing up Clinton starts the trolls going.) And I was one of the 1/2 million more voters who went for Gore.
And I apologize once more if my poor attempt at humor offended you. Keep on posting, Mr. Neat. I like the thoughtful, well-researched things you say here at TP. I really am on your side. Honest.
November 4th, 2005 at 3:37 pmI think Randy needs a nap,he’s sounding a little testy.Oh,wait,he is a teste.One of Dick or George’s maybe?
November 4th, 2005 at 3:55 pmMaybe someone will give Cheney a BJ so we can impeach him. Hey, how about bush?
November 4th, 2005 at 3:57 pmHas anyone else noticed that in every photo of Dick he is always snarling or growling? Maybe he just needs a hummer. (no not the vehicle) waaaaaa nobody likes me.
November 4th, 2005 at 4:08 pm#196 Apologize accepted. Let’s move on (with or without the “.org”) and continue being friends and allies in the important struggle to defeat the truly evil, self-centered, ignorant, myopic, xenophobic, greedy forces of conservatism and the Republican Party.
Now, did you notice where I put my bong down? ;)
November 4th, 2005 at 4:12 pmHope this lack of popularity reaches to the wife. It might mean that we won’t have to put up with Lynn Cheney’s disneyland-revisionist-history books for kids.
November 4th, 2005 at 4:12 pmyou talk about conspiracy theorists … this man is in the middle of the cake … BIG DICK that is, Dick Cheney. My suspicions are that he has manipulated the entire fraudlent presidential era from day one of 2000.
November 4th, 2005 at 4:29 pmIf he is not endicted I will eat my hat ….
#132 – Yeah, Cheney can afford to get that heart replacement he’s been hankering for.
November 4th, 2005 at 4:30 pmWOW his approval rating matches his IQ. COINCIDENCE?
November 4th, 2005 at 4:37 pmfirst time here-one observation-i listen to the dc pacifica station (WPFW-89.3 wpfw.org)and one of the call in shows is infected with a nazi who calls and recites the talking points. seems that’s all they have, that’s all they’ve ever had, talk. your two parrots sound so familiar
November 4th, 2005 at 5:04 pmCheney-Taft in 2008! With that ticket, the Ewpublicans can go after the sympathy vote.
November 4th, 2005 at 5:11 pmBut seriously, folks, Cheney’s not even as popular as Clinton was in his FIRST term.
America: down to only 19% still wearing asshats…cool!
Seriously, everyone, the slime that invaded our government in 2000 with the help of their henchmen in the Supreme shit must be removed from power before they wreck America, and the planet, any further.
Unfortunately, “voting them out” is not an option at this time — unless emergency measures are taken immediately to dumpster the vote-stealing machines and institute “Paper Ballots, Hand Counted,” before it’s too late. Please spread the word with writing, talking and bumper stickers. Go to http://www.ecotalk.org/VotingSecurity.htm
for the scoop on how clever and evil scum have stolen America from Americans and delivered it to NeoConMen.
An aside: the “real” American is hysterically funny! Noone can be that stupid, so I’m going to go out on a limb and say he/she is pulling our legs with these idiotic and near-braindead comments.
November 4th, 2005 at 5:48 pmWhy would Chaney run in 2008? He has been calling the shots all along. Idiot Bush has given him complete freedon to do what ever he wants. Bush doesn’t make any decisions. He’s too stupid.
November 4th, 2005 at 5:48 pmLet’s hope Cheney runs in 2008. He wouldn’t have a chance.
November 4th, 2005 at 6:50 pmI keep hoping that his pacemaker will fail. There was a recall on one model, but unfortunately it was not his.
November 4th, 2005 at 7:10 pmever notice how you never see barbara bush and dick the cheney at the same time , together, live?…….hmmmmmm could it be…?
November 4th, 2005 at 7:35 pmWell I do like to imagine that maybe I had a little something to do with that LOL
November 4th, 2005 at 8:20 pmYou all hate America and want it to burn.
Bush is saving this country. We were sent by God himself on this holy mission.
Texas is the most american state followed by Alabama, Mississipi, Georgia, etc. etc.
New Yorkers, Massachusetts, piss off. God hates you and so do we. I hope more terrorists strike u commies just to make u wake up.
November 4th, 2005 at 8:34 pm“You all hate America and want it to burn.”TheRealTerrorist
You and your fascist retarded republicans would have a leg to stand on if you hadn’t trained, funded and recruited AlQueda for the afghan dirty war. And while we’re on dirty wars, lets talk about ElSalvador, Nic., Chile, Argentina. Lets also talk about how republicans sold WMDs to Iraq, and plutonium reactors to Iran.
The REPUBLICANS hate america and american values. You’re all just retarded Nazi Fascists (Yes NAZIs were CONSERVATIVE AND RIGHTWING).
Communists are anti-capitalists, so your claim is not only bogus, it’s irrational. However you ARE a fascist if you report the current republican party.
As for who god hates, clearly it’s the red states, otherwise she wouldn’t constantly whack you retards with hurricanes. Ignorance is bliss you retarded redneck.
November 4th, 2005 at 8:57 pmYes…Dick is evil. He committed pergury before the American people regarding 911/WMD, etc.
He was there behind the curtin with Laura directing the 911 attack (oh…you say practicing military games?). Believe what you want…he committed treason many times. Impeachment isn’t enough a punishment.
These are the “law and order” Republicans? Ya..law and order for Democrats but not Republicans.
Chehney is a Fascist.
November 4th, 2005 at 10:08 pmWe Republicans never gave a single thing to Saddam Hussein. Reagan tried to get rid of him but the Democrats (bleeding-hearts) disagreed and tied his hands. The world would be a better place now. We Republicans have never made a mistake.
Bush DID NOT LIE ABOUT TAKING OUT SADDAM!!! There were weapons, but they are hidden.
God sent him on that mission. I can’t believe so many people hate America.
November 5th, 2005 at 12:19 amAnd while I’m on the subject ‘Ryan’, God is a HE not a SHE. Shows how much you know. And the Democrats are anti-Capitalist and therefore communist.
November 5th, 2005 at 12:22 am“God is a HE not a SHE. Shows how much you know.”TheRealFascist
Only females produce young, so god MUST be a she. Shows you how stupid you really are that this had never dawned on you.
November 5th, 2005 at 12:54 amTheRealFascist, you’re a fool. The evidence of republican buildup and prop up of saddam is overwhelming. And what I post here is the TIP OF THE ICEBERG. The fact you know none of this shows you’re an utter partisan fool!
“We have a paper trail,” Byrd said. “We not only know that Iraq has biological weapons, we know the type, the strain, and the batch number of the germs that may have been used to fashion those weapons. We know the dates they were shipped and the addresses to which they were shipped.
“We have in our hands the equivalent of a Betty Crocker cookbook of ingredients that the U.S. allowed Iraq to obtain and that may well have been used to concoct biological weapons.”
Those shipments included:
Between 1985 and 1988, the nonprofit American Type Culture Collection made 11 shipments to Iraq that included a “witches’ brew of pathogens,” including anthrax, botulinum toxin and gangrene. All shipments were government-approved.
Between January 1980 and October 1993, the federal Centers for Disease Control shipped a variety of toxic specimens to Iraq, including West Nile virus and Dengue fever.

November 5th, 2005 at 1:01 am“And the Democrats are anti-Capitalist and therefore communist.”TheFascistRepublican
Oh please, this is so ridiculous as to be insane paranoia. Taxes are not anti-capitalist. Most democratsic leaders are successful business people. You’re a lunatic and a moron.
However, republicans ARE FASCISTS. Or did you not know you’re a nazi? Or like most retarded Nazis, I’m guessing you don’t care you’re a stupid pig?
November 5th, 2005 at 1:03 amI”M NOT A NAZI AS IM NOT GERMAN!!!!!!
Hate to tell you this, but you have to be a german to be a nazi. shows how dumb u are.
the democrats want to remove our system of government. we never gave weapons to saddam. reagan wanted to get rid of him but the democrats stopped him.
LET THE TRUTH OUT!!!
November 5th, 2005 at 1:53 amWe are supposed to HATE the enemy which are MUSLIMS and COMMIES!!!
It’s people like Bush and Cheney who were sent by GOD HIMSELF to give me the energy to want to destroy this scum. they are my inspiration.
LONG LIVE FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 5th, 2005 at 1:59 amAny one who dissagrees with OUR LEADERS hates AMERICA!!!
what an idiot ‘The Real American’ is.
you, like bush are the terrorist’s friends. didn’t u c the iranian foreign minister smiling with glee when bush won another term? they loved it!!
Bush has given them jihad, and they are loving every second of it. it has made the terrorists stronger. Al-Qaeda is now 5x larger than it was before September 11. So is JI, and the Abu Sayyaf. Iraq and George Bush have been Christmas gifts for Osama (not that he recognised CHristmas however, but u know what I mean)
November 5th, 2005 at 2:04 am“Iâ€M NOT A NAZI AS IM NOT GERMAN!!!!!!
Hate to tell you this, but you have to be a german to be a nazi. shows how dumb u are.”TheRepublicanFascist
Really is that why there was a Nazi party in the united states? Or is that why NeoNazis have existed here for years? Do you even know what a NAZI or FASCIST is you retarded turd? Clearly you don’t, otherwise you’d know you ARE ONE.
“The only other successor Nazi group, noticed as extremely dangerous by government officials, was the American Nazi Party under the leadership of George Lincoln Rockwell. The American Nazi Party reached its height in the 1960s with many U.S. law enforcement leaders stating that the party was becoming as dangerous, if not more so, than the original Nazi Party had in the 1920s and early 30s.”

You’re wrong, you clearly didn’t read any history. Reagan propped up Saddam because he was fighting Iran. Not only are you irrational, you’re freakishly stupid.
November 5th, 2005 at 4:37 amUm Logic,
Anyone who posts that stuff is either clinically insane or jabbing fun at republicans because of how stupid it looks. Either way, it’s sad that whackos who actually believe this tripe exist…
November 5th, 2005 at 4:39 amAs part of its opening to Baghdad, the Reagan administration removed Iraq from the State Department terrorism list in February 1982, despite heated objections from Congress. Without such a move, Teicher says, it would have been “impossible to take even the modest steps we were contemplating” to channel assistance to Baghdad. Iraq — along with Syria, Libya and South Yemen — was one of four original countries on the list, which was first drawn up in 1979.
Some former U.S. officials say that removing Iraq from the terrorism list provided an incentive to Hussein to expel the Palestinian guerrilla leader Abu Nidal from Baghdad in 1983. On the other hand, Iraq continued to play host to alleged terrorists throughout the ’80s. The most notable was Abu Abbas, leader of the Palestine Liberation Front, who found refuge in Baghdad after being expelled from Tunis for masterminding the 1985 hijacking of the cruise ship Achille Lauro, which resulted in the killing of an elderly American tourist.
According to a sworn court affidavit prepared by Teicher in 1995, the United States “actively supported the Iraqi war effort by supplying the Iraqis with billions of dollars of credits, by providing military intelligence and advice to the Iraqis, and by closely monitoring third country arms sales to Iraq to make sure Iraq had the military weaponry required.” Teicher said in the affidavit that former CIA director William Casey used a Chilean company, Cardoen, to supply Iraq with cluster bombs that could be used to disrupt the Iranian human wave attacks. Teicher refuses to discuss the affidavit.
Although U.S. arms manufacturers were not as deeply involved as German or British companies in selling weaponry to Iraq, the Reagan administration effectively turned a blind eye to the export of “dual use” items such as chemical precursors and steel tubes that can have military and civilian applications. According to several former officials, the State and Commerce departments promoted trade in such items as a way to boost U.S. exports and acquire political leverage over Hussein.
When United Nations weapons inspectors were allowed into Iraq after the 1991 Gulf War, they compiled long lists of chemicals, missile components, and computers from American suppliers, including such household names as Union Carbide and Honeywell, which were being used for military purposes.
A 1994 investigation by the Senate Banking Committee turned up dozens of biological agents shipped to Iraq during the mid-’80s under license from the Commerce Department, including various strains of anthrax, subsequently identified by the Pentagon as a key component of the Iraqi biological warfare program. The Commerce Department also approved the export of insecticides to Iraq, despite widespread suspicions that they were being used for chemical warfare.
The fact that Iraq was using chemical weapons was hardly a secret. In February 1984, an Iraqi military spokesman effectively acknowledged their use by issuing a chilling warning to Iran. “The invaders should know that for every harmful insect, there is an insecticide capable of annihilating it . . . and Iraq possesses this annihilation insecticide.”
November 5th, 2005 at 4:44 amRyan,
The truth is very different. You are giving lies. I know the truth. Reagan fought with GOD to have Saddam removed and the dems stopped him. They are TRAITORS!!!!
you are an al-qaida because you hate america.
LONG LIVE OUR GLORIOUS LEADER PRESIDENT BUSH AND FREEDOM!!!
November 5th, 2005 at 5:04 amThat comment made by a iraqi military spokesman ryan was suppressed and never appeared in the media. The democrats (as they usually do) tried to stop it from coming forward. The republicans fought a HOLY fight to have it put on the TV you sucker. Reagan and bush know what is right. they are our leaders, and they were true leaders. What’s the big deal with oil contracts anyway? God said ‘here is the earth; take it, rape it, it’s yours’. live today for today and don’t worry about the future. the earth can take care of itself. Cheney is a wonderful family man; he and Bush have produced godly,
November 5th, 2005 at 5:38 amReal american….you are being incredibly sarcastic right? No one can be that ignorant of the facts, so unbelievably naive, so utterly, contemptibly foolish?!
Please, please, please say you’re taking the mick! I just have to know otherwise my opinion of America could drop very quickly, which’d be a shame cos you’ve some great people, and the south has some amazing food!
November 5th, 2005 at 9:04 amDick head Cheney doesn’t care. His pacemaker may be fake because he doesn’t have a heart.
November 5th, 2005 at 9:17 amOn a serious thought – does anyone here know if there is a Constitutional provision to demand the recall of the President and Vice President?
November 5th, 2005 at 12:18 pmRik …that brit.
Am I being sarcastic? Very much so, but “unbelievably naive” and “ignorant of the facts”? No.
I am neither naive nor ignorant of the facts. I am a lifelong student of history and politics and hold an advanced degree.
Perhaps you would be better served by commenting on the state of affairs in your own country, where I understand Mr. Bush’s great friend, colleague and co-conspirator, Mr. Tony Blair, has his own challenges to deal with.
And, by the way, don’t forget to brush your teeth.
Cheerio!
November 5th, 2005 at 3:34 pmKizbah- Don’t mention teeth, it’s hurtful and unnecessary……you may want to mention showers…which based on the last lefty gathering I saw, should be a constant message mantra……lovin’ lefties because they’re cheap entertainment…..
November 5th, 2005 at 4:11 pmIf nazis are bad. And you are a real american. How can you explain the bush family in 1942 being charged with helping the nazis party with goods and technical information? Using your logic, that makes the bush family traitors right?
November 5th, 2005 at 4:26 pmReal american, I do comment and watch the state of my countries affairs (hence the Michael Moore joke) And I do brush my teeth, britains oral hygiene is as great as America’s I think you’ll find……
The idea of brit’s having bad teeth is the same as suggesting all republicans hang black people and have intimate relations with horses….
ok bad example
I really can’t believe cheney will be impeached though, here’s hoping
November 5th, 2005 at 4:43 pmWell said Army Mom, you and the other great people of the Americas are doing, as Georgy would say; A heckuva job. The difference being you actually are. People like yourself have the respect of Europe, unlike the bush supporters who have nothing but our scorne and disgust.
November 5th, 2005 at 5:49 pmNo I was not joking Rik. I was telling the truth.
November 5th, 2005 at 6:46 pmRyan Neat-
I don’t know about you, but the vast majority of administration supporters that I run into on the net, demonstrate incoherent writing skills to compliment their poor grasp of the facts. The two seem to be intrinsically linked.
November 5th, 2005 at 9:17 pmYou have to wonder if The Real American is factual or a spoof. It’s just too good to be true…
I actually went back and re-read all his rants. Not a single one has any basis on facts.
Also, notice how kizbah reponds (#229) to Rick that Brit after Rick asked A Real American if he was being sarcastic (#226). Kizbah’s answer was in the first person. So, The Real American is also kizbah. He simply forgot to change his screen name. But then he realises he made a mistake and answers again (#236), this time as The Real American.
To make matters worse, kizbah/A Real American says (#229): “I am neither naive nor ignorant of the facts. I am a lifelong student of history and politics and hold an advanced degree.” You wouldn’t guess it from all his grammatical errors, run-on sentences, and not a single accurate statement.
November 5th, 2005 at 11:20 pmHOW THE HELL DOES HE HAVE 19 PERCENT? ARE 19 PERCENT OF AMERICANS THAT DUMB?
sheesh.
YOu know what? Dick deserves a approval rating that is higher than 0, so I disagree with all the previous commenters.
He deserves one of 0.0000000001. You always gotta have the nut.
November 6th, 2005 at 1:05 amYOU ALL HATE AMERICA!!!!!
It’s true everyone the dems stopped the republicans from removing saddam (satan). The republicans were SENT by GOD HIMSELF to complete a holy mission. Dont treat us texans poorly; we all (in my region…houston) have the same opinion.
GOD BLESS OUR HOLY AND GLORIOUS LEADER!!!!
November 6th, 2005 at 4:57 amActually I am not kizbah. you dems are so stupid.
burn in hell.
November 6th, 2005 at 5:03 amI’m finding that Kizbah/The Real American similarity really funny.
It just shows how dum you democrats are. you and the northern liberal/commies have no idea how this country is run. we have to burn the enemy. thats what we americans stand for. DO YOU GET THAT THE REST OF THE WORLD???? I don’t care if u brits (we saved ur asses from a couple of wars) disagree. we are always right. you’re just a bunch of whingeing eurowheeling scum who GOD HIMSELF hates. I wrap myself in the flag. when Washington was president he said that AMERICA UNDER GOD should take over and try to convert the world.
We are in the majority you Commie Democrats and our glorious leader tells us we have GOD on our side. So we rule you.
November 6th, 2005 at 7:01 amWe will never submit to the Democrats/Commies. Take your head out of the books. Knowlege isnt everything. just do what your wonderful leader tells you. then u are a real republican, and therefore a real american and a real man of GOD. i am proud to be an american and i will follow my leader and his faithful deputy whatever he does.
November 6th, 2005 at 7:05 amThe Real A sounds like a nazi dictators boot licker to me. Down with the dictatorship and imprison all followers.
November 6th, 2005 at 10:21 amHmmm a real republican and a man of god? Wasn’t the war of independance essentially because the great American ‘forfathers wanted the seperation of church and state?
Wouldn’t that make the republican GOP, who make many decisions and laws based on faith, an insult to the very people who fought for freedom and democracy in the united states?
Just a thought.
In other news, it seems that the hounds are closing in on Cheney with the plame investigation. Lot’s of aides seem to be getting the flak, but surely it’s their bosses who make the decisions. I think the words “scapegoat” and “patsy” are going to be quite appropriate and common in the following weeks.
November 6th, 2005 at 1:53 pmIn response to the various posts by The Real American:
“you and the northern liberal/commies have no idea how this country is run”
I think everyone in Think Progress knows: The US is a democratic federal republic. In a democracy, leaders are elected by the people –not sent by any god. That only happens in theocracies and monarchies.
“we have to burn the enemy. thats what we americans stand forâ€
The US stands for freedom and justice for all. When did that change? Nowhere in the documents written by the founders of the US did they say to “burn the enemyâ€.
“you’re just a bunch of whingeing eurowheeling scum who GOD HIMSELF hatesâ€
Really? Did your god talk to you and tell you? And what god was that? Yahweh, Ganesh, Buddah, Quetzalcoatl? How often do you and your god talk? Does he call you on the phone or does he reveal himself unto you? What else has your god told you?
“when Washington was president he said that AMERICA UNDER GOD should take over and try to convert the worldâ€
Please provide sources to back up your assertion.
“Commie Democrats and our glorious leader tells us we have GOD on our sideâ€
Osama Bin Laden thinks the god is on his side too. So do the Taliban in Afghanistan, the Mullahs in Iran, and the Zionist in Israel. You have a lot of company.
“Take your head out of the books. Knowlege isnt everything.“
Translation: Ignorance is bliss, and illiteracy the way to go.
“just do what your wonderful leader tells you. then u are a real republican, and therefore a real american and a real man of GOD “
To be a real man of god, you have to follow his teachings not what a Supreme (mis)Leader tells you. To be a real American, you have to pledge allegiance to your country not to the Supreme (mis)Leader.
“i am proud to be an american and i will follow my leader and his faithful deputy whatever he does. “
No, you are not proud of being an American: You do not believe that all men are equal under the law, and you hate the right to disagree. You want the US to become a theocracy where the people must blindly follow a Supreme (mis)Leader.
Again: In the US, the people’s allegiance is to the nation, not to a leader. Americans are bound to obey the law of the land, not the commandments from a Supreme (mis)Leader.
November 6th, 2005 at 2:17 pmGregor;
YOU HATE AMERICA!!!!!
I wrap myself in the flag. I also have two dogs called George and George W. I AM SO AMERICAN!!!!!
PAINT ME IN RED WHITE AND BLUE!!!!
November 6th, 2005 at 7:04 pmLet me get this straight. The the story is that Cheney’s approval rating is UP to 19%? I thought that everybody hated Cheney. I imagine that his wife only stays with him because he’s not only filthy (we heard his comment before the Senate), but he’s also filthy rich. I’ll bet that the 19% all work for Halliburton. I hope that when the torturing sicko leaves office that he leaves the company of decent people and takes his gold bullion to the South Pole to watch the ice melt.
November 6th, 2005 at 8:12 pmRyan, don’t waste your time on the so called ‘Real American’. You will never convince him that he is wrong. His mind doesn’t work logically. He works on ‘feelings’ and not fact. Even women use intuition with ‘facts’ to come to a decision. Maybe he is under the misconception that someday he will be rich. Either way, it’s sad. He is blind to the truth and enjoys having his head in the sand. He’s a ‘hear no evil’ and ’see no evil’ kind of guy.
November 6th, 2005 at 9:16 pm“I wrap myself in the flag. I also have two dogs called George and George W. I AM SO AMERICAN!!!!!”
Comment by The Real American — November 6, 2005 @ 7:04 pm
You shouldn’t wrap yourself in the flag, Real American –to do that is to disrespect and to defile the US flag. According to the Federal Laws governing the flag: it “should not be dipped to any person or thing”, and it “should never be used as wearing apparel”.
Any real American knows that –I wonder why you don’t.
And just because I like sharing the knowledge, read the entire CRS report for congress here: http://www.senate.gov/reference/resources/pdf/RL30243.pdf
November 7th, 2005 at 1:32 amI am disgusted at all the America haters and GOD haters hear.
it is only our glorious leader Mr Bush who gives me the energy and power to believe what I believe and to HATE the enemy.
November 7th, 2005 at 1:39 amAnyone wanna take bets on whether “The Real American” has enlisted? (Truthfully, I can’t even tell the difference between satire and actual wingnuts, so it’s hard to know if “The Real American” is just a put on)
November 7th, 2005 at 2:16 amI am an Idiot,
I hate bush, I hate Hitler…. THEY ARE THE SAME.
I AM A CHICKENHAWK COWARD……

All war criminals go to the gallows.!!!!!
November 7th, 2005 at 2:22 am“it is only our glorious leader Mr Bush who gives me the energy and power to believe what I believe and to HATE the enemy.”
Comment by The Real American — November 7, 2005 @ 1:39 am
I wonder what will happen to you when Pres. George W. Bush’s term runs out –he will longer be the “glorious leader”. Will your energy drain and will you stop believing in what you currently do? What will you believe afterwards? Will you stop hating the enemy? Will you love them instead? Or will you simply wither and die?
Conversely, what did you believe before George Bush became the “glorious leader”? Did you hold any beliefs at all? You didn’t have the energy and/or the power back then, since you draw that energy only from “our glorious leader”. Did you hate anyone before George Bush was president? How did you find the energy?
November 7th, 2005 at 2:26 amNo I have not enlisted in God’s Army !!! Don’t disrespect our brave boys battling the evil yellow hoarde.
I will always remember our glorious leader and their will be many to follow.
November 7th, 2005 at 2:29 amSo it seem the us senate isn’t entirely corrupt!! Hurrah! John MCain is passing a bill to make torture illegal, and about time. The U.S. and Britain have been massivley critiscised across the world for apparent detainee abuse.
However since Dick “the hand in the puppet’s ass” Cheney has been condoning abuse and trying to stop the anti-torture bill, America is now doubly mocked. I’m just glad there are so many decent, intelligent, moral and praise-worthy people left in your country, that Dick will be stopped. At least on this. Back McCain you wonderful people!
November 7th, 2005 at 8:37 amcreepie that i remember Johnson Kennedy’s admisntration
November 7th, 2005 at 9:33 amHey people, leave the VP alone. I think you guys are too mean for the old man who had several heart attacks. He is doing a mighty fine job sinking the ship on his own. I hope he keeps spreading that “good shit”. To the VP: You are doing a great job, Sir. I know you never gave a damn to that war monkey. Don’t let the bastards get you. Jus pardon Libby and all on the way out. And, don’t forget to trash the keyboards.
November 7th, 2005 at 11:00 amIm a total fag guys, sorry for bothering you all.
November 7th, 2005 at 1:00 pmThe reason im in favour of bombing all the brown people is because i have something commonly known as “tiny dick syndrome”. My ickle winky is so small i feel like all the world should suffer because of it.
And i’m totally gay – dont forget that.
And i like having sex with children – im a right wing pedofile (at least im not the first ;)).
remember to keep your kids locked up…i lurk the streets in search of blood.
November 7th, 2005 at 1:03 pmDick is giving old Spiro Agnew a run for his money.
http://www.historychannel.com/speeches/archive/speech_5.html
“On October 10, 1973, less than a year before Richard M. Nixon’s resignation as president of the United States, Spiro Agnew became the first U.S. vice president to resign in disgrace. The same day, he pleaded no contest to a charge of federal income tax evasion in exchange for the dropping of charges of political corruption. He was subsequently fined $10,000, sentenced to three years probation, and disbarred by the Maryland court of appeals.”
November 7th, 2005 at 1:11 pmi’ve suffered the scriblings of clowns. Know wonder we have leaders of this poor quality. remember people are what they know.

November 7th, 2005 at 8:30 pmI can not believe all your comments!!Both American Republicans and Democrats are evil! They don’t believe in God or anything else.If there is a way to destroy, steal and Kill USA is number 1!!!America is not what it used to be!!!Evil(Dark side) is running this Government!!This is what happened to my Country(Serbia) and will happen to others!!!It doesn’t matter if you are Christian,Catholic,or Muslim!!
November 7th, 2005 at 10:39 pmLike Rik the Brit, I’m also reassured to see evidence here of left-leaning, thinking Americans. As a Canadian, my exposure to American opinion these days comes from your mainstream tv stations, and they almost always present a right-wing, pro-war (or at best war-neutral) POV. Keep up the good work, folks.
November 7th, 2005 at 11:24 pmI wish you liberals would start thinking for yourselves. (You would have thought aircraft flying into buildings would have some impact…Atta thought it would.)
November 8th, 2005 at 1:15 pmWill someone that really knows, please list as many f’ed up decisions the bush has made since taking office. I know, It won’t be a short list. Thanks
