Hey, reading through your posts, I didn’t realize that McCain was caught in a lie. Indeed, how could the information about the prison rendition thing be in the papers first, if it was the subject of a GOP-only meeting with Cheney? Though, I respect McCain for trying to fight against torture, mostly through personal experience, but most of the respect I might have had for him got blown out the window on that note that he said he “read it” first.

Now, I realize, it was Frist, not Lott, who called for a investigation into the leak before he realized that it is not possible for a Democrat to have leaked the information, since the Democrats are being denied vital intelligence information with which to make any decisions. Boy, Frist’s wish for a retalatory investigation sure hit the rocks fast!
If he is that oblivious, then he is welcome to perform heart surgery on this on my Sure Happy It’s Thursday List!

HaHa, now that it is known that a Republican is likely to have leaked the information, Trent Lott won’t be able to frame any Democrat, but we still have the goods on major GOP actors in the Plame case. Nice try, Trent! You Republicans are just plain evil, except for those coming around to some degree of conscience and degree of common sense and compassion, like McCain and Hagel.

I don’t understand what you don’t understand. Really.
The Administration is all in a huff that someone in a secret GOP meeting about national security (can you say, “Conspiracy”?) someone leaked information about secret torture prisons, condoned by the US. The administration also, at the same time, is all in a huff because people want accountability for the leak that exposed the identity of a secret undercover agent AND the front operation used by that agent (and a number of other agents, the exact count of which IS a matter of national security and not for public knowledge). The difference is that the former leak was not authorized and serves against the GOP secret agenda, while thge latter was ordered by the administration as part of the secret agenda (and the means to be used to achieve it).
Is the hypocricy of the administration confusing? If that is the case, then welcome to the majority: we don’t have to agree on political issues, but we should all be on the same page concerning REAL matters of national security, accountability in our government, and the ethical standards by which soldiers (and others) acting in our name operate. Every soldier, every hired mercenary, every “independent contractor” is an ambassabdor for the American people. When even one such person acts unethically, the rest of the world attributes said action to every American. OUR (mine, yours, your neighbor, your parents, your kids, etc.) moral standing have been compromised by the activities encouraged by the administration. America tortures prisoners without trial or specific accusation. Until it ends, we are all participants in that torture. Torture is not justifiable, torture never produces actionable or reliable information, and this administration can produce NO proof that any of its ‘interrogations’ have produced any kind of useful information.
Finally, if you are a Christian (which, from what I gather, most of the right claim to be), you do not condone torture at any time for any reason. If you DO condone torture, you are not a Christian.
“Christian” = “Christ – like”. Would Jesus torture someone?

I guess this explains the comments of some GOP senator on one of those Sunday shows who, when asked about “the leak” (meaning the Plame situation) replied “which leak?”

Reminds me of when Bob Barr called for a GAO investigation of the White House “vandalism” episode right after the Installation. He didn’t get the memo either and the unfortunate result (for the ‘Thugs) was exoneration of the Clinton Administration by GAO.

Cheney set these prisons up and was so proud of himself and his influence over the CIA that he just could not keep it to himself, so he blabbed to what he thought was his loyal fellow right wingnut jobbers.

McCain has been caught in a big lie here folks. He said on national television that the first he knew about these secret prisons was when he read it in the papers. Folks, he was at the Cheney luncheon and according to my source, even asked questions. McCain tries so hard to picture himself as a moderate when in fact he is as dangerous as the rest of the right wingnut jobbers.

McCain is a liar and a true blue republican who cannot be believed on anything.

To my good Great Friends on the Left:

I paraphrase Napoleon: “Never interfere with your enemy when he is in the process of destroying himself.”

I don’t believe calling NeD or anyone else a whacko helps the true cause (as good as it feels, and ooo, it feels so good!). I believe giving Frist the help he asks for in loudly calling for this leak investigation is all we need to do. What courage for him to attack his own partisans so brazenly (giggle)!

Guess there was no political meat left for him to pick from Terry Schiavo’s bones, eh?

Also, when these radico-fundagelicals are finally routed from office, there will be no one to stop a full and complete inquiry into secret prisons, outed agents, Nigerian Wishing, backroom deals, Halliburton-style cronyism…

One day in the not-too-distant future the country will be able to decide for itself what kind of leaders we had under Bush and Team Pachyderm.
