The rest of the world can’t afford it? What about us, NYT? We’re all in this global disaster together, and I’d like to know what you intend to do about it now that you’ve acknowledged the obvious and printed the truth that many of us have been screaming for YEARS! I suppose it’s better late than never, but 2050 American families and countless Iraqi families would like to know where the f&*k you’ve been?
Me thinks dragon is NeD in disguise. NeD loves the be the first to post on a thread here. If not, then they are just interchangeable. The trolls strive to be just like everybody else. Scary.
I wonder if his employers know how much time he spends trolling on-line. He only gets away with it because he is an IT “professional”. Funny, a degree from ITT tech makes you “a professional” these days. We got one annoying troll canned at Eschaton for doing the same thing on the job. NED, your next.
I participated in The Guardian’s “Write to an Ohio Voter” campaign - now I feel like saying “I told you so!!” - any minimally intelligent person could foresee the disaster of Bush continuing in office. Our worse nightmares have come true…. The American President is the so-called leader of the free world… That’s why foreigners intrude in US politics - because what happens in Washington ricochets all over the world.
As for Bush “turning his administration around” that’s an utterly naive pipedream. Bush is merely the dimwitted puppet pitchman. Asking this administration to change means asking the PNAC and military-industrial complex to reform itself - ain’t gonna happen.
It’s up to we, the people to BRING this administration down and force them from power.
After shamelessly promoting the war and Mr. Bush, (although they did allow their op-eds to mightily oppose it and him) they are finally thinking that it might not have been such a good idea. I suppose it’s better late than never. Their editorial today is a start in the right direction — they acknowledge that three more years of Bush might be bad for the world (it will be hell for Americans).
Many of us here are sorely aware of this, and that is why Bush and Cheney must be impeached — perhaps the NYT will back up that proposal. D’ya think?
h.d.s. greenway in today’s boston globe (reg req’d) writes from iraq and calls it the “greatest foreign debacle of a lifetime” and minces no words about how we were lied to and misled into going there…
the rest of the world? how about US? we’re the ones who have to put up with for the next couple years! I feel bad for them, but much worse for us over here…
Why won’t anyone but Michael Moore scream that Iraq war = control of Iraq oil???? This is not about freedom, democracy, or fear of nuclear threat. If that were the case, there are plenty of countries who really need our assistance and attention.
Cheney and Bush are one big conflict of interest when it comes to Iraq. If this were a business, no one would put up with their actions.
Swingley: “I participated in The Guardian’s “Write to an Ohio Voter†campaign - now I feel like saying “I told you so!!†- any minimally intelligent person could foresee the disaster of Bush continuing in office.”
Yes, they could. But since waits in line ot vote were 10 hours or more, there wasn’t much they could do about it.
We CAUGHT Triad Systems stealing the Ohio 2004 election.
We CAUGHT their employees changing out circuit boards in counting computers across the state to prevent a legal recount.
We CAUGHT their employees providing false counts to be reported instead of the actual machine recounts.
Ohio, like 30 other US states, lost its papertrail in the 1999 Diebolding of America. So a recount against paper couldn’t take place anyhow.
The Bush-Gonzales Justice Dept. REFUSED to investigate these Triad actions — which are individually and severally FELONIES.
Don’t blame Ohio residents for what happened in 2004. We are in the middle of a coup.
• California gets its papertrail back in January. That’s WHY we are having an illegal election today.
#3 Printed the truth? You can’t tell the difference between the front page and the op-ed page. Maybe that’s why they continue to lose readership and ad revenue and layoff their staff.
Ironic considering how much ‘op-ed’ non-evidence you supply. Republicans are such retarded hypocrites. Are you sure you know what an ‘op-ed’ is? You realize that newsmax hack site you always post from is nothing more than an Op-Ed site for Scaife the REPUBLICAN NAZI don’t you?
Of course you don’t you’re retarded - that’s obvious.
Why do you respond to any of my comments then? You should just ignore them. Also, whats with of the personal attacks? You are obviously a very insecure person that can’t deal with reality. Do you still live at home?
Boy, Randy, reading your take in #15, I must have my rightwing head in my butt again about the New York Times. Even Dragonbreath in #1 was trying his best to discredit it by calling it a “rag.” I noticed the sly way you slid that BS remark by about the Times losing “readership” and “ad revenue” but it is so easy for the liberals here to see through that thin remark, like it was a cheap shot from one of Hannity’s exaggerated broadcasts.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but both you and dragonbreath aren’t talking about THE New York Times who posted a $3.4 billion dollar revenue in 2004 are you? The one ranked in 2005 as the #1 publishing industry in Fortune’s “list of most admired companies” for the 5th year in a row? The one with 35 web sites? The one that over the years has earned 115 pulitzers compared to (how many?) for the Fox empire?
Conservatives LOVED the NYT when Judith Miller was feeding them undiluted WMD fantasies direct from world-class criminal Achmed Chalabi. But, NOW it’s a “rag.” Go figure.
Nothing unprincipled about the Conservative outlook. Steady as a rock, by God.
When you actually post content, rational argument and not mellon scaife debunked propaganda, it will be worth responding to. In the meantime you’re just another brainwashed clueless dipshit who’s in over his fascist head.
You criticize the NYT, but how many pulitzers has Newsmax and the other republican sites won? Like I said, you’re a hack and a fool.
Oh wait, that’s right, reichwingers only like ‘fake’ awards, like those claimed by OLeilly. Real awards don’t matter because only liberals win them. Ever wonder why? Because LIBERALS actually do the job, republicans always botch it. No matter what the job is, but especially journalism!
Paul in LA: California is getting a paper trail?? Wonderful!! What about the other States? Things have to change, otherwise these guys will be ETERNALLY in office, independently of what you vote!! And nobody deserves that!! Nobody can afford this, absolutely!!
One of the things I’ve noticed about letters to the editor in the NYT is how writers may occasionally disagree with Krugman, Friedman, Kristof, Rich, Dowd and Herbert, but more often than not agree while adding really good points that enhance the columnists message. Compare this to the letter writers who only occasionally agree with Tierney and Brooks, while constructively breaking down their arguments. Brooks, who replaced Safire (I believe), is especially awful. The problem with so many of the conservative columnists is that they start with the screwed up and wrong premises; therefore, their arguments and conclusions fail.
Who cares what the NYT thinks. I don’t waste my time with that rag.

Maybe you should. It was once a great newspaper, and something has to plug you up or you’ll bleed to death.

November 8th, 2005 at 3:57 pmThe reich wing is obviously still fuming over the fact that Dumbya’s bribe-a-”journalist” propaganda program was uncovered and shut down.
All they have left is the “liberal” corporate media talking point and that one is laughable in the post-Judygate world.
