O’Reilly tonight:

By Nico Pitney on Nov 14th, 2005 at 5:03 pm

O’Reilly tonight:

“We take on the orchestrated campaign organized by left wing critics who have whipped up controversy about his satirical riff on the city of San Francisco.” “Satirical riff“?

87 Responses to “O’Reilly tonight:”

  1. The Northeast Dilemma says:

What San Fran was unAmerican and disgusting. Bravo to O’Reilly for pointing it out. I think it’s sad they hate the troops like that, but I guess you all understand since you do nothing, but slander our troops on a daily basis.

  2. Eddieb says:

I have found it typical of the wingnutery to always try to un-say their words when caught or challenged. It’s simular to the cheating husband deny, deny syndrome.

  3. Zippy says:

Northeast Dilemma: Why do you hate FREEDOM?

  4. Jesus Christ God of WAR says:

Why hasn’t the DHS arrested O’Reilly? He’s a terrorist for promoting the attack of San Fransisco.

Imams are in US jail for having said less than this fool.

  5. Zookeeper says:

BO is a fool and is about to implode. NED hates America.

  6. Marie says:

That’s what they do when they’re not lying — they un-say what they said (who are you gonna believe me or your own lying ears?) they were taken out of context, they were misconstrued by the so called “liberal” (LOL) press. They are looking more and more foolish — the people are realizing it; the sad thing is that it has taken this long to penetrate the smokescreen erected by FOX to cover the facts.

  7. Dungheap says:

Satire, my butt. Satire is apparently only offensive when it applies to “personal attacks” against BIll not to cheering the slaughter of Americans because they disagree with you:

“It is simply a joke for The New York Times to editorialize that fabricated personal attacks are acceptable under the banner of satire.

I wonder if The Times thought that Donald Sagretti was funny when he manufactured dirt to hurt Richard Nixon’s political opponents. I guess The Times editorial board would be yucking it up if their pictures appeared on a book cover accompanied by the word “liar.” Satire, my butt.”

  8. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Marie – can you stick to the issue and defend the radical policies the folks of San Fran voted for? I don’t think you can.

Face it, the left hates our country and our way of life. They prefer communism to capitalism. It’s scary and sad.

  9. Spudge_Boy says:

Go fvck yourself NeD. Go sign up, become a troop and then a vet and lets see where you stand on how this administration treats our troops. You are a worthless piece of sh!t that doesn’t live in reality.

  10. cyncial ex-hippie says:

Whatever you do, avoid a satirical riff on the President. That could carry a prison term.

  11. cyncial ex-hippie says:

Anyone who says liberals hate capitalism has never done business in California.

  12. Jesus Christ God of WAR says:

Send trolls overseas to enjoy BushCo’s much vaunted Iraqi “freedom”.

In the meantime, nobody is laughing with Bill. He’s not funny. Never has been. Never will be. He’s simply a high paid shill for the Gay ‘Ol Party of lying cronies.

  13. Spudge_Boy says:

Maybe this fvcking retard forgot that he said this on Sunday:

“What I said isn’t controversial. What I said needed to be said. I’m sitting here and I’m looking at a city that has absolutely no clue about what the world is. None. You know, if you had been hit on 9/11 instead of New York, believe me, you would not have voted against military recruting. Yet the left-wing, selfish, Land of Oz philosophy that the media and the city politicians have embraced out there is an absolute intellectual disgrace.”

This jackass said it and he meant it all the way. He said it, then stood by his words. There is nothing you can say to change that.

You are backing an administration that has cut veteran benefits, cancelled joint hearings for veterans ( something that has been held the last 50 years), sent the vp tolay the wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier, rather than the president, because he was “campaingning” on veterans day. Who the heck is unpatiotic and unamerican? It is you Ned

O’Liely is trying to change what he said, that make him a liar and a hypocrit as well
its no wonder you like him Ned….. he is just like you

  15. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Spudge – stop pretending to support the troops. You hate them. If you did, you would be criticizing the people of San Fran, not O’Reilly.

AND don’t pretend to be in the military Spudge. We know you’re a phony who’s afraid of guns.

  16. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Wayne – O’Reilly is not the issue. The voters of San Fran are. Do you support what they voted on last Tuesday or not? Plain and simple.

  17. The Northeast Dilemma says:

Spudge thinks he’s in the military…. what a joke.

  18. Jim says:

So, what are the chances that MediaMatters points out this doubletalk on their website, then are accused of being ‘paid assassins’ again on O’Reilly’s show tomorrow?

It’s not like he was caught on video saying these things… oh, wait. I think Mr. O’Reilly is losing it. He’s upset that he’s being fact-checked and that he’s losing his audience.

  19. gun toting liberal says:

Next up, we’ll talk about Ayatollah Khomeni’s “satirical riff” on Salman Rushdie!

    BTW NeD,

It’s not up to you to decide what’s “un-American.” In fact, freedom to think and say whatever one wants, unapologetically and without answering to any “patriotic” watchdog, is the overriding principle of American democracy.

San Francisco hates the troops? This is spurious. There are an awful lot of soldiers and sailors from the Bay Area, and I know several myself who have served honorably. Not wanting military recruiters around children is a far cry from “hating the troops.” Plus, some 3,000 cities around the country have voted similar measures. Do they hate the troops too?

Suppose the Bush administration did in fact manipulate intelligence to knowingly whip the country into a war frenzy when no nuclear danger was present in Iraq, as is currently under investigation by the Republican-led Senate? Couldn’t it then be argued that Bush, by rushing to war, demonstrated a reckless disregard for the well-being of the troops? Is that not worse than wanting to keep recruiters away from schools?

“Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

My liberty allows me to remind you that you are not a better citizen than I or than a person living in SF simply by dint of your political beliefs. I pursue happiness by sharing my political views with you.

I also want to say that I do not share in the ubiquitous leftists’ desire to call you names. Name-calling diminishes everyone who engages in it and does not yield useful ideas. If you are indeed a conservative, I assume you are conservative in your use of vitriol as well as all strong emotion. In this respect I am very much a conservative, too.

Here’s a sincere wish for your happiness and health, the continuity of your precious rights under the U.S, constitution, and a swift resolution to the bloody butchery overseas.

    Peace to you!

I support their right to vote their concience without threat of terristic attack by a right wing nut job. I support the very american right to vote and I support that the right to vote should be free of intimidation by radicals.

Since you do not Ned,that make you very unamerican.

  21. Ryan Neat says:

NED slipped off her meds again. While she’s fascistly supporting a president who lied to congress and fabricated evidence to go to war ILLEGALLY, she accuses others of being unpatriotic. This is the same tactic hitler used when accusing anyone who stood up to the german fascists.

NED is a new retarded voice in the same old fascist song. Kill your own citizens while bleating out hollow patriotic hate speech. NED is just the same retarded whacko that Goebels was, but NED’s a lot more stupid.

  22. HacktheMedia.com says:

NeD dude– I’m still waiting for your reply to my question back in the WMD post. This place is not like FOX News where loudmouths can just go on to the next food fight. So what are we liberals lying about?:

Tell us. We need to know. I’ve got an RSS subscription to the thread and it’s on my Google home page.

My brother lives in San Francisco, by the way. We’re on to you dude.

  23. Ryan Neat says:

NED why do you hate the military so much? Why can’t you support the troops? Why do you want innocent americans to die for a lie?

NED IS A LIAR, A TRAITOR AND AN IMMORAL RIGHTWING FASCIST. NED = RETARDED HATE

  24. Spudge_Boy says:

I don’t think I am in the military, I WAS in the military under smart Bush during Desert Storm. I put my ass on the line to protect the freedoms of everyone including a$$holes like you.

The fact that you have decided to pretend that I didn’t serve my country in a time of war shows just how much you dislike military personel and veterans, of which I am both.

  25. Spudge_Boy says:

    #15

Afraid of guns. Me? Dude I have fired more weapons, for my country than you can dream of. Ever felt the real power of a .50 caliber M1 machine gun? Of course you haven’t that is a military weapon and you are too scared to join. You have no clue because you are too much of a pu$$y to serve your country. Little b!tch.

  26. kindness says:

ned – why did your side do sooooo badly in Tuesdays elections? I guess America really hates America, huh?

Jesus you are one sorry lying wingnut. Go keep the boys happy at redstate, OK? Leave us civilized and American loving liberals out of your weird fantasies.

  27. TonyC says:

    #8 & #16

NED – The topic is not the people of San Francisco, the topic is the response to O’Reilly’s call for their extermination by nuclear blast. It’s right there at the top of the page. Please pay attention.

  28. Paul in LA says:

“I don’t think I am in the military, I WAS in the military under smart Bush during Desert Storm. I put my ass on the line to protect the freedoms of everyone including a$$holes like you.”

Al-Reilly. How was Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait (after Gillespie gave him the go-ahead) protecting OUR freedoms?

You put your ass on the line so you could strut around defending the worst dicator the US has ever had.

  29. stefan says:

ND, what a bucket of vomit. “hate the troops”? Only spin-zombies like yourself would twist this into something about the troops. Nobody here – ESPECIALLY here compared to how the troops are treated by your chickenhawks, slogans aside – disrespects the troops.

Do you really think you have an impact, or make a difference? The best you can get with that garbage is pity. At best you just exemplify what we’re talking about.

Normally I just ignore your drivel, but I don’t like Right Wing Cowards like yourself shitting on our troops by using them like that. They are real people, real heros putting themselves on the line for for you and me. That they’ve been put there by cowards and idiots who care nothing for them, or that their entire mission was really a political hack supported by lies, only increases their nobility in my eyes: they are the ones who pay the price with their lives. You are not qualified even to discuss them.

  30. AvengingAngel says:

Perhaps O’Reilly will also take up:

    - his short-lived career writing soft-porn prose
    - FOX being nailed by the conservative Parents Television Council for showing 4 of the top 10 “Worst Shows for Family Viewing”

  31. Chris in AZ says:

    unamerican?

Bill O’Rielly is about as sharp as a sack full of hammers. The funny thing is, he’s the smartest of all of his followers. Doesn’t really seem like much to worry about after all as his dork factor is about a 13 on a scale of 1 to 10.

  41. Ryan Neat says:

O’Leilly calls himself legitimate news to Republicans, and when he’s caught lying, smearing and inciting sedition and terrorism, he’s suddenly a ’satirist’?

  42. RunningDogLackey says:

Ah, O’Reilly’s got nothin’ on Iran. When they did their satirical riff on “wiping Israel off the map,” I just about doubled over laughing.

Timing and delivery. Iran has them down cold, Billy-O doesn’t. Simple as that.

  43. hunter1sf says:

God am I tired of comments like those from The Northeast Dilemma. Why is it so difficult for these folks to understand that this occupation is not an up-or-down/black-or-white issue? Yes, SF has its share of anti-military extremist -Tom Ammiano comes to mind. But this war is very much more complex than the ‘you’re either with us or against us’ rhetoric spewed by the current administration and the right. Are you really so simple that you would blindly follow the President into this ill-planned, unjust war? A war that, everyday seems more based on lies than truth? We can argue the finer points until the end of time, but the basic truth is -was and always will be- that Sadam Hussein; for all of this despicable behavior, is/was no better or worse that any of the other egomaniacal leaders currently in power in the world today. And everyday our actions as a nation and people are driving closer to this same behavior, not further away. Get a grip Northeast Dilemma. How about a little critical thinking here? Or will you be just another marching in lock-step with those who just refuse to see/speak the truth out of fear that at one time you were wrong. People have a love and appreciation of this country that you will never, ever even come close to understanding in your black and white world my friend. And that’s the truth.

  48. Marie says:

NED, yoy call yourself an American, but if you were a true patriot, there is no way you would defend O’Reilly and what he says.
He advocates terrorists attacks on San Fran because HE doesn’t agree with their voting to keep military recruiters out of the high schools and for some twisted reason, you think it’s OK.

  49. espo says:

    by the way…..

“satrical” is not a word, an official word at least.

  50. Marie says:

NED why are you so against the military? You praise Bush but he devalues the military, his budget cuts mocks their service – so don’t think you have the high ground here — take advice from patriotic SpudgeBoy – he walked the walk and can talk the talk too.
NED why do you hate America?

  51. darwin says:

Does O’Reilly know something we don’t? Maybe San Fran was just a bit further down the list for the self inflicted 911 attack.

Really, this is driving me crazy, you gotta let me know what this means.

    “Al-Reilly.”

Don’t know what that means. Looks like a crack at Bill O’Rielly

“How was Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait (after Gillespie gave him the go-ahead) protecting OUR freedoms?”

I have no idea how. I would say joining the military and possibly dying would be considered fight for your freedom. I have medals to prove it.

“You put your ass on the line so you could strut around defending the worst dicator the US has ever had.”

When and who was the best dictator the US ever had? Oh that’s right, we haven’t had one, yet.

Also, I don’t know anybody in their right mind that joins the military so they can strut around doing anything.

I would like to point out that this is the first time in fourteen years that I have ever been attacked for serving in the military. And I was attacked twice in one day…..by republicans. Fvck you too bitch.

  54. Spudge_Boy says:

Then just like the fvcking punks you are, you disappear.

  55. Ryan Neat says:

    Spudge,

The pentagon doesn’t pay them for overtime, you’ll have to wait for the next shift to come in before the new crop of propaganda gets posted…

  56. David B says:

I notice the leadership at faux news don’t have balls to crack down on this asshat and his big mouth. I thought there was some kind of ethical code for journalism like striving to bring the truth to light rather than just being a cheap lounge act at tabloid entertainment news. I guess whatever pays the bills.

  57. Opie says:

NeD, #1, what SF parents did was vote how they wanted to raise their kids. You might try keeping your side of the street clean before sticking your nose in their business.

    Ryan,

    No joke eh?

It is funny how they say that they support the troops and I don’t and here they are attacking me. Ironic isn’t it.

  59. Opie says:

Satirical riff, my ass. Can’t defend his original position, so he floats a different message. Rush does that frequently — “Oh, I was just kidding.”

  60. blablablabla says:

Bush, who received high marks after the terrorist attacks of 2001, also rated poorly in the new poll for his policy on terrorism. For the first time, less than half — 48 percent — of those surveyed said they approved of how the president was handling the war on terror. Forty-nine percent said they disapprove.

In November 2001, Bush had an 87 percent overall approval mark and an 86 percent rating on terrorism.

Sixty percent said it was not worth going to war in Iraq, while 38 percent said it was worthwhile. The question was asked of about half of those surveyed and had a margin of error of five percentage points. The results marked a decline in support of seven percentage points from two months earlier.

The country appears to be split on whether Bush is a strong president and whether or not Americans personally like him.

When asked about his abilities, 49 percent of those surveyed said he was a strong president and 49 percent said he was a weak leader.

About 50 percent of people polled said they disliked Bush, with 6 percent claiming to hate the president.

Bush’s overall approval mark matched the 37 percent rating of newly elected President Clinton in June 1993.

When asked in the new poll if they trust Bush more than they had Clinton, 48 percent of respondents said they trusted Bush less, while 36 percent said they trusted him more and 15 percent said they trusted Bush the same as Clinton.

For the first time, more than half of the public thinks Bush is not honest and trustworthy — 52 percent to 46 percent.

A week ago, President Bush campaigned for Virginia gubernatorial candidate Jerry Kilgore, who lost the election a day later to Democratic Lt. Gov. Tim Kaine.

In the poll, 56 percent of registered voters said they would be likely to vote against a local candidate supported by Bush, while 34 percent said the opposite.

Only 9 percent said their first choice in next year’s elections would be a Republican who supports Bush on almost every major issue.

    Forty-six percent said

  62. robert pooolemos says:

seems that if i disagree with wholesale slaughter and murder by american troops i do not then support them right? That is absolutely right and if a few take a hit after murdering civilians well then its just collateral damage pal.

  63. Jeremy says:

I just watched Bill O’Reilly saying that the decision in San Francisco is a support against the war on terror! This guy is the dumbest thing that talks on this planet (next to Bush). Seriously, military recuriting has very little to do with the war on terror. This is really about not supporting the war in Iraq. Why should San Franciscans allow military recruiters on school grounds when there is a president in power who sacrafices the soldiers for personal interests. Thats their kids man!

Geez, if only republicans actually had a heart.

  64. to the right of you says:

who doesnt think this isnt satire? yes, he sounded blunt – but i cant believe that he would mean it in a harsh sort of way.

it was a play on the irony of SF wanting to be protected by the military, yet isnt very welcoming of the military and the things they have to offer the city or their people

ie. they cancelled the Iowa Battleship from visiting SF…cause the Iraq war disagreement…like the Iowa vets give a dam about the current war, in regards to how they want to spread THEIR history…leave it to SF to keep them away.

this is the same city that wants to ban guns to the legally bound gunholders, yet dont find a solution in ridding the city of all the illegal guns that cause most of the crime. yeah, so all the liquor store owners get to turn their guns in while the thugs keep their illegal guns.

The Supporters: Unwavering Bush Ally Acts Quickly on Court Choices and Legislation
By Glen Justice and Aron Pilhofer
    The New York Times

    Monday 14 November 2005

Washington – When President Bush named Judge Samuel A. Alito Jr. as his Supreme Court pick, it took Progress for America just 39 minutes to introduce a slick Web site and begin lobbying for his confirmation. And that was slow.

The group had taken 11 minutes to do the same for Harriet E. Miers and only 7 minutes for John G. Roberts Jr. before that. Knowing it would support whomever Mr. Bush chose, Progress for America started working months ago to create more than two dozen Web sites promoting various potential candidates. When the announcements came, it was prepared.

“We get out of the box quickly,” Brian McCabe, the group’s president, said in an interview.

While many Republican organizations support the White House selectively, Progress for America has shaped an unusual role for itself as an unwavering ally on just about every issue: Supreme Court nominations, tax cuts, terrorism and changes to Social Security.

The group, which is likely to play a leading role in support of Judge Alito, expects to spend at least $2 million on several waves of television advertisements as he heads into Senate confirmation hearings, Mr. McCabe said. And it has also vowed to respond to any attacks by Democratic groups. “P.F.A. stands ready to do what it takes,” he said.

Though the group describes itself as an independent grass-roots organization, it receives millions of dollars from the president’s largest fund-raisers, is run by former Bush campaign aides and draws heavy support from a Republican lobbying and consulting firm in Washington.

As a result, Progress for America often functions like an unofficial extension of the White House, advancing the president’s policies alongside the Republican National Committee.

The group’s campaign arm, the Progress for America Voter Fund, is one of the so-called 527 committees, which spent tens of millions of dollars on both sides to influence last year’s elections. Though the groups can collect unlimited contributions, they were barred from coordinating with campaigns. But in the postelection season, there is no prohibition against coordinating with the White House and the party, and Progress for America has become one of the strongest players to emerge from 2004.

Bill O’Rielly followed up his rant by going on TV the next day and saying this:

“What I said isn’t controversial. What I said needed to be said. I’m sitting here and I’m looking at a city that has absolutely no clue about what the world is. None. You know, if you had been hit on 9/11 instead of New York, believe me, you would not have voted against military recruting. Yet the left-wing, selfish, Land of Oz philosophy that the media and the city politicians have embraced out there is an absolute intellectual disgrace.”

He meant every word and he meant it to be spiteful and mean. That is what republicans do. It wasn’t a joke and he has already said it wasn’t a joke. It is too late for him to say it was now.

LOL Blahblah, your going crazy man.

  72. blablablabla says:

    Spudge_Boy?
    Do you have the link?

  73. blablablabla says:

Does anyone have the Link Spudge_boy was talking about?

  74. Ryan Neat says:

Bla, you’re confused. This site is associated with americanprogress.org – the site you list is associate with the freerepublic and other related rightwing fascist propaganda websites.

  75. Spudge_Boy says:

    Blablabla,

Go to this thread where you can read the full transcript or hear the audio:

  76. Eddieb says:

Did you know Bushbag hates the troops, hate America because he won’t let recruiters speak to his Daughters. Why isn’t Cheny and Bushbag letting their kids join up?

  77. Ryan Neat says:

If vouchers are permitted which require taxpayer money be diverted to ‘religious schools’, then are military recruiters allowed to operate freely on those campuses?

    inquiring minds want to know…

  78. SpudgeBoy says:

    Eddieb,

You have a poit, Bill O’Rielly’s kids haven’t joined up earlier.

And as I suggested in another thread, send the recruiters to Iraq, there doesn’t seem to be a shortage of those guys.

  79. That Guy says:

    Patriotism is facism

  80. Francis says:

“Patriotism is fascism”; It can be when the patriot is misguided, ignorant, and then easily manipulated.

  81. progressive and proud says:

Spudge and HacktheMedia, NeD will not answer your questions because he doesn’t have answers. This is something he likes to accuse us of to “muddy” the waters it seems.

He will come back and post in the first part of a thread just until he is called upon. He can sustain an argument only briefly and he runs away. He is the ultimate hit and run troll.

Some, like IRI and Aphro, like to post at the end when they can peruse a thread, pick certain parts of certain posts and serve it back piecemeal. Bastardize our words and create their own version of what we said. I’m not sure if they really believe what they are doing is honest or if they just don’t care and want only to advance very specific agendas and think of themselves as virtual missionaries. Either way, it is a waste of time and doesn’t advance America at all; unAmerican, actually. Ben Franklin would and have said as much, as would Thomas Jefferson.

What they are is evil. They care about themselves and their “kind” and think of others (their fellow Americans) as lower class and lazy. The trolls wear their religion on their sleeve. Didn’t someone say something about that long ago?

  82. Be Young, Have Fun, Drink Elastic Heart » Blog Archive » Good Night, And Good Luck says:

[...] Sound like he’s encouraging an attack to you? And then immediately after his comment, he tried to A.) cover up what he said by removing that portion of his rant from his site transcript. Then B.) tried to defend his comments as something that needed to be said. And finally C.) he tried to play his comment off as a “satirical riff”. [...]

  83. Oh God, It Burns » Blog Archive » Enemies List says:

[...] So, a ton of “wacky” liberal websites called him on it. He said the comments weren’t “controversial“. That didn’t work, so he called it a “satrical riff“. Then, today, I believe, he said the following: I’m glad the smear sites made a big deal out of it. Now we can all know who was with the anti-military internet crowd. We’ll post the names of all who support the smear merchants on billoreilly.com. So check with us. [...]

  84. patriot says:

    Blah~

You really need to up that Lithium dosage.

  85. Ringo says:

WRITE FOX NEWS CHANNEL ADVERTISERS AND DEMAND THEY DISCONTINUE THEIR SUPPORT OF THIS ANTI-AMERICAN “NEWS” CHANNEL. A quick search for “Boycott Fox News Channel Advertisers” brings up several websites that contain contact information (email and snail mail) for these entities.

A sample letter below that I have used:

As you are no doubt aware, Bill O’Reilly of Fox News Channel recently called for a terrorist attack on the City of San Francisco because he did not agree with the voters’ decision to ban military recruiting on San Francisco high school campuses. Rather than be a gentleman and apologize for his remarks, Mr. O’Reilly instead decided to defend his anti-American speech and call for terrorism. Mr. O’Reilly has clearly developed amnesia regarding the affect September 11 had on our country and the American people. Your continued support of Fox News Channel equals support of Bill O’Reilly. As an American citizen of this great country, I ask that you withdraw your support from Fox News Channel. Show Americans that you care for us and our country by discontinuing advertising on Fox News Channel. There are hundreds of cable outlets in which to spend your advertising dollar. The American people deserve better. Advertise elsewhere, and NOT on Fox News Channel. Thank you for your anticipated support in this regard.

  86. R.H.R says:

Bush raps China over freedom, vows to promote democracy in Asia

Setting the tone for a four-nation swing through the region, Bush told Asian leaders that freedom is on the march and cannot be stopped in their part of the world. He bluntly told Chinese leaders that economic freedom in China would inevitably break their hold on power.
