the epitome of evil,
the one guy in the world that would get osama to stutter “Man, that’s wrong, how could he live with himself…” or “why didn’t I think of that”
is like a fly attacking an, cough, elephant
…we need more than just heckling
…to see Checeny performing the Vet Day ceremonies almost brought this grown man to tears, what could be going through his mind while he helped carried the wreath…does the epitome of evil feel guilt…heckling is a start, but not nearly enough to get through to him
And all of you are very welcome. Cheney was NOT going to come here and get off easy. See, when a repub is heckled in TN, you better believe something is amiss. Let me tell you guys, it was something to behold and he was not happy. I wonder if he didn’t expect it? HA!
Cheney was not happy because he is a megalomaniac. He above us all and never should be questioned. Hooray for the dissenters, I don’t know how you cleared security but congrats. Now lets raze the crap out of chimpus at a public address.
#3 yeah, me, too. I don’t know who’s “brilliant” idea it was to have the President and Vice President switch schedules on Veterans Day, but that must be what happened: The Vice President lays a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (that was hard to watch) and the President goes out and launches into a vile, disgusting attack on everyone who disagreed with him, even going so far as to question the patriotism of all who didn’t support his decision to go to war.
Actually, I feel that the decision to invade Iraq and remove Saddam was made the day Dick Cheney picked himself to be George W. Bush’s 2000 running mate. After that, he (Mr. Cheney) just had to pick the right people for the cabinet (”right” by their standards).
Uh…the Admin better get used to this. Bush took it on the chin when he went to So Am. If he dares to try Europe, they’ll roast his ass there, too. I’m going to guess The Far East will be at best indifferent, if not hostile.
For those of you without access to a lot of foreigners’ opinions, let me be the one to tell you how universally hated this man is. Detested with strong passions. This guy is the epitome of the DEVIL to many of my coworkers who come from India, Europe, Central Africa, and Canada…
Wayne and Chris, count me in on those comments too. Cheney was so out of place in laying the wreath — I too wondered what was going through his evil, conniving mind. Georgie “bad boy” Bush was out making his trite stump speeches again. Same old, same old, pointing fingers, refusing to accept his own responsibility. He is so much like a spoiled brat, it’s hard to take any more.
But to the topic of Cheney’s being heckled — priceless.
Personally, I hate hecklers, no matter who the heckelee is. Let the person speak, if you don’t like what he/she has to say then respond in some sort of constructive manner.
#14 So then people who like what the speaker is saying shouldn’t interrupt him for applause? Can’t have it both ways. If you want to hear the applause, then you’ve got to hear the heckling, too. It’s only fair.
“Personally, I hate hecklers, no matter who the heckelee is. Let the person speak, if you don’t like what he/she has to say then respond in some sort of constructive manner.”
Ugh,
You cannot respond to speeches. That is why they are called speeches and not conversations. Because old Dick wouldn’t talk to any of the common folk, ever.
All right, in a civilized society, speeches shouldn’t be interrupted by hecklers (even though I cheer the hecklers today!) but on the other hand, speeches should therefore not be interrupted by applause either.
Our leaders read their speeches with pauses at intervals to allow for applause – in fact, they are written that way — so allowing for and even planning on interruptions for applause, leaves the door open for heckling as well, and no one deserves heckling more than Darth Vader Cheney — a few rotten tomatoes, and cream pies would be in order also.
#21 I agree, Marie. You have to take the good with the bad if you want to go into public life. Though I’m not sure that Mr. Cheney views his job as “public life” considering how hard he tries to stay out of the public eye. The speeches are written with breaks for applause, they ought to start writing them with comeback lines for hecklers who point out the lies.
And besides, rude or not, if someone is going to stand at a podium and say something that is untrue (and I don’t know what he said but that doesn’t matter) in order to convince you of a point of view, then they deserve to be challenged. Otherwise their audience will walk away thinking they heard some good points, never knowing they were misled.
#25 I think things really started to go downhill when word got out that Richard Mellon Scaife was paying big money to spread the lies, distortions and half-truths that make up the basis of the conservative viewpoint.
I just want to address P. Fitz. comment re: Jimmy Carter—–

Bush raps China over freedom, vows to promote democracy in Asia
By Ron Hutcheson
Knight Ridder Newspapers
KYOTO, Japan – President Bush brought his freedom agenda to Asia on Wednesday, taking a swipe at China while extolling Japan as an example of freedom’s power.
Setting the tone for a four-nation swing through the region, Bush told Asian leaders that freedom is on the march and cannot be stopped in their part of the world. He bluntly told Chinese leaders that economic freedom in China would inevitably break their hold on power.
Cheney walked right into that one didn’t he? Every time he pokes his fat head out of the spider hole, there’s a good American there to tell him to F-off.

It is amazing how Bush is trying to promote “freedom” during his trips to other countries and in America, Bush and the Republicans are doing everything they can to take “our freedom” away from Americans.

1 ¶ And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
9 ¶ And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,
13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.
14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
16 And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!
17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.
21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.
Cheneys definition of freedom; free to hire illegal aliens through Halliburton to clean up Katrina and pass over the local American citizens who desperately need a job. Freedom to make a buck through ANY means.
Well, since you just want us to sit on our hands and do nothing when these jackals spew their lies and deceit, I have trouble believing you are a Democrat anyways. You are probably a Hillary Clinton Democrat.
We will no longer sit idly by and let these bastards get away with what they are doing. Do I sound angery and hate filled? You’re goddamn right I am. I hate Bush and anybody that supports him.
Yes, the great uniter has united everybody against one another.
I’ve been hearing about this guy from MD(?) getting pelted with Oreos… my question is, what should Dick Cheney be pelted with during his speeches?

22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;

November 16th, 2005 at 12:14 pmI’ve been hearing about this guy from MD(?) getting pelted with Oreos… my question is, what should Dick Cheney be pelted with during his speeches?

That story has been debunked –it is another one of those hoaxes, and propagandistic lies put forth by Republican hacks in order to misinform the public –just like the WMDs stories. Do those people ever get tired of lying?

11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
