“A bipartisan group of senators told congressional leaders Thursday they will try to block reauthorization of the Patriot Act to protest the elimination Senate-mandated protections against ‘unnecessary and intrusive government surveillance’ in a House-Senate compromise.”
Wow, Republicans voting their conscience! Amazing!
November 17th, 2005 at 2:33 pm#1 This COULD create a rift in the fabric of space-time.
November 17th, 2005 at 2:42 pmCould it be that some of the Repubs are coming to their senses? Or want to be re-elected?
November 17th, 2005 at 2:43 pmThey just want to be re-elected.
November 17th, 2005 at 2:45 pmI really shouldn’t have asked! Duh!
November 17th, 2005 at 2:50 pmIf doing the right thing to them means they will be reelected, then what we are doing here today is working.
November 17th, 2005 at 3:14 pm#2 Zookeeper I’m sorry. I wasn’t trying to be Sarcastic.
November 17th, 2005 at 3:24 pmI hope I did not offend you.
#7 is for #3 Sorry
November 17th, 2005 at 3:25 pmYes, the pugs are running scared. Don’t vote for them in 06. They are liars and will retreat into their neocon status 5 minutes after the election.
Ban the Republican Party from our Government!

November 17th, 2005 at 4:26 pmSo Susan, you want one party rule? A communist system of government? Move to China then!
“.”, that’s what republicans have, and you yourself have stated that you want to continue. Sounds like we’re already in fascist Iran there Mullah Dot.
November 17th, 2005 at 4:34 pmGoodbye ‘big brother’, now get to work and leave law abiders alone. Ryan,Mary and Zookeeper have said it all.
November 17th, 2005 at 4:41 pmNo, Repubs are not finding their senses — they are simply practicing self-preservation.
November 17th, 2005 at 5:26 pmDoubt in the end that the bill will be held up but here’s to hoping.
November 17th, 2005 at 5:31 pmPeriod,
We want more than two parties, but the NeoCOns shouldn’t be one of them.
How about Democrat and Independent?
November 17th, 2005 at 7:47 pmSpudge,
Sounds good. Independents idenfity separately from republicans or democrats, so clearly they should have their own party. Republicans should be banned as fascists just like postwar germany. Clearly they are a party of fascists and wish to overthrow the democracy and the constitution, therefore they are traitors to america, and should be banned as a political party.
November 17th, 2005 at 8:58 pm#9 muddy waters
@democrat/republican leadership levels, hard to see some, they like green bait. *=[]8^)
EnnYHoo,

Murray N. Rothbard must have seen the post-September 11 era in a dream to be able to sum it up as well as he did in his 1992 inaugural address to the John Randolph Club:
“Social democracy is still here in all its variants, defining our entire respectable political spectrum, from advanced victimology and feminism on the left over to neoconservatism on the right. We are now trapped, in America, inside a Menshevik fantasy, with the narrow bounds of respectable debate set for us by various brands of Marxists. It is now our task, the task of the resurgent right, of the paleo movement, to break those bonds, to finish the job, to finish off Marxism forever.”
Rothbard foresaw our current predicament: We are trapped inside a Menshevik fantasy, a nightmare world of perpetual war and growing government power.
