Coulter on Murtha: He Longs “To See U.S. Troops Shot, Humiliated”

Columinst Ann Coulter had this to say decorated Vietnam War veteran Rep. Jack Murtha and others who think it’s time that U.S. troops come home from Iraq:

It is simply a fact that Democrats like Murtha are encouraging the Iraqi insurgents when they say the war is going badly and it’s time to bring the troops home…[T]hey long to see U.S. troops shot, humiliated, and driven from the field of battle. They fill the airwaves with treason…These people are not only traitors, they are gutless traitors.

Looks like Coulter will have to join Jean Schmidt and Bob Woodward on the list of those recently smited by the “Avenging Angel.”

  2. Opie says:

Democrats ought to play this over and over and over as an example of republican values.

  3. Punchy says:

uh…wow. just read the first paragraph, and you’ll see more lies than Scooter Mac press briefing. Iraq and Al Q, long-range missles, uranium from Ni….wait! Even the PRES has discounted the uranium theory and she’s still saying it?

She’s so full of crap that I am stunned respectable news outlets will still print it.

  4. SpudgeBoy says:

Wow, just wow. These NeoCons DO live in an alternate reality. Wow.

  5. hardass says:

She and Schmidt should don a uniform .They may not be so good with a gun , but with such well articulated mouth they could be of some use to relieve the tension of our troops who are under such great pressure to stay the course .

  6. freedom is not free says:

Ann Coulter’s remarks about Murtha and the Democrats should tell you it’s time for her to go. How ridiculous is it to accuse any American of hating our troops? Really. Are you being responsible by allowing this representative of psychosis, fanaticism and paranoia to continue with your support? Wouldn’t you rather support rational individuals? Or not..? This time in our history will be looked back on as a time of delusional thinking, where basic rules of politeness, reasonable disagreement, and well thought out and expressed debate were not possible. Ms. Coulter is not part of the solution, the contrary. And what is the solution? I don’t pretend to know the total solution but the first step is: For us all to find our way back to one America by not letting irrational voices continue to inflame each side to the point where real damage to America is possible. Ms. Coulter is not rational or respectable voice….

    my email:

you should be ashamed of yourself for actually printing ann coulter’s slanderous commentary on murtha. seriously, she is the lowest of the low, and mark my words…you will be publicly humiliated by her before the bush administration is done. apologists like her are the bane of our country, and though i support free speech and her right to be wrong, i cannot in good conscience let her absurd opinions be voiced without speaking up myself. my voice may not get published in millions of copies of newspapers and online journals, but it is representative of many millions of patriotic americans who have frankly had enough of this neocon propaganda.

i know that sending this email will do nothing….that you have your own agenda, and its bottom line is selling newspapers and sustaining advertising revenue. fine. but don’t be surprised when this strategy comes back to bite you in the ass. there is an immutable law of karma that you can choose to ignore, but you cannot avoid. there *should* be a morality and a conscience in the media that is horribly lacking today, and your decision to support coulter is emblematic of this lack on self-scrutiny and conscience.

What’s Ann Coulter going to do when her right wing world shrinks to an audience of 25? The moment is quickly coming and none to soon. She’s only appealing to that extreme right audience that will vote republican no matter what anyway.

NeoCons are American NAZIs that are disciples of LeoStrauss the bonafide Nazi who fled germany and set up shop at the U. Of Chicago. Not only does this group include Rumsfeld and Cheney, but several ‘prominent’ reporters and writers who pretend to be unbiased.

They’re fascists, just like the policies of bush. The fact that you support Nazi Fascists isn’t suprising, you’ve demostrated an uncanny ability to be completely ignorant and retarded in every opinion you post – like most of the nazi followers in germany. They preyed on stupid nationalistic pig farmers in germany, you’re the equivalent of the Naive idiots that joined the Nazis in germany.

  51. Zwack says:

WWallace, you are so full of crap.

Here are the paragraphs that Judd excerpted…

    – Begin Quote –

It is simply a fact that Democrats like Murtha are encouraging the Iraqi insurgents when they say the war is going badly and it’s time to bring the troops home. Whether or not there is any merit to the idea, calling for a troop withdrawal – or “redeployment,” as liberals pointlessly distinguish – will delay our inevitable victory and cost more American lives.

The Democrats are giving aid and comfort to the enemy for no purpose other than giving aid and comfort to the enemy. There is no plausible explanation for the Democrats’ behavior other than that they long to see U.S. troops shot, humiliated, and driven from the field of battle.

They fill the airwaves with treason, but when called to vote on withdrawing troops, disavow their own public statements. These people are not only traitors, they are gutless traitors.

    – end Quote –

So, in the first paragraph Judd removed a section that said that withdrawing the troops would slow down our “inevitable victory” and cost more Amrerican lives. The section is entirely in context, and says what Judd says it does. The fact that Anne Coulter insists that victory is inevitable gives some insight, but is irrelevant to the fact that she calls anyone who opposes her views a traitor. She doesn’t seem to grasp that if the American troops stay in Iraq until the “inevitable victory” some of them will die… Probably more than if the troops come home within the foreseeable future.

The other ellipsis is for the removal of “but when called to vote on withdrawing troops, disavow their own public statements.” Which is a misrepresentation. Murtha made a suggestion for an orderly redeployment of troops to neighbouring countries over a period of months. They are not being withdrawn from the area, just moved to friendly countries where they can return to Iraq if needed. The Republicans introduced a “satirical” motion suggesting that troops should be brought home the following day. That second motion is what was voted on, not the Murtha motion so this is a misrepresentation, but is also irrelevant to Judds point. Her quotes were not taken out of context, even with the use of ellipsis.

  67. Don Watkins says:

I think Ann and her fellow travelers should put their money where their mouth is and leave the security of their cozy offices and join Representative Murtha in VA Hospitals in Walter Reed and other military hospitals. Ann needs to spend quality time with the women and men who are giving of themselves in a war they didn’t vote for. Ann needs to spend a considerable amount of her time and money and go to Iraq and live with the grunts. She shouldn’t stay in the green zone. She belongs in the Humvees, in the Blackhawks and on the front lines of the conflict she is so in love with. Ann needs to spend less time on Fox News and writing for other media outlets and more quality time with good men and women on the front lines.

It is astounding that most of the policy makers of this debacle and their apologists like Ms. Coulter have never taken the time to serve their country. They are parasites who really hate America and Americans. They don’t relish our democracy and diversity but instead feel threatened by that which makes us American.

Congressman Murtha has balls and the time has come for men and women of conscience and fortitude to demand a new direction for our country. Representative Murtha is a patriot. Jack Murtha makes me proud to be an American and a veteran. Long life and health to Jack Murtha and those like him.

wwwwwwaaaaaallllllaaaaacccceee – Ann says “There is no plausible explanation for the Democrats’ behavior other than that they long to see U.S. troops shot, humiliated, and driven from the field of battle.” No elipses, no hacking, just a straight quote from Ann. Do you honestly believe that she is right? Do you really think there are Americans walking in your midst that are wishing that US troops get shot and humiliated?

It’s a rhetorical question ww so don’t bother replying. We all know that’s exaclty what you believe. I feel sad for you that you are so mistaken about your fellow Americans.

Well, thank you for your reasoned debate. You should have read the original article and seen that it said what it was claimed it said. I’m sorry it doesn’t have more pictures for you.

If Judd was going to hack the article up he wouldn’t have pointed to it so that everyone could verify what it really said.

I didn’t see Judd saying anything about his own country, merely about an article written by Ann Coulter. If she is a country I’ll be surprised.

The fact that you can’t reason, understand, or debate explains a lot about your political views.

“Judd, You titled your post, “Coulter on Murtha…” but the part you exerpted didn’t refer to Murtha. How much do they pay you for your anti-American propaganda?” – wwallace

Let’s see… Would it be the part that says “Democrats like Murtha” that doesn’t refer to Murtha? Or would it be the other two paragraphs… The ones that are about “Democrats”. Last I heard Murtha is a Democrat. While a reference to a member of a set does not necessarily apply to the entire set, a reference to a set would apply to every member of that set. Remember universal affirmatives can only be partially converted. References to Democrats apply to Murtha, references to “Democrats like Murtha” apply to Murtha. Why do you find this so confusing.

In post number 13, Dennis said, ### Drives me crazy trying to figure out if they believe what they say or believe in the pay. ###

Dennis makes a very good point here. She’s just in this for the money. She, like the Busch gang, don’t really give a crap about anything, except the greenback.

Does anyone ever notice the smug little smile Eva Braun, err..I meant Anne Coulter has whenever she is spewing the venomus crap out of her mouth?

She says this stuff to inflame us.

    She is an inflamer.

    She is inflameous.

And when we let her rouse us, she sits back with a simmering cup of herbal tea, and giggles quietly to herself.

I don’t think she really believes, or cares about half of what she says. She is just a vulture, a scavenger, swooping in to feed when she smells blood.

Hey Anne, mind if we start calling you “BUZZARD”?

  89. Bob says:

The woamn doesn’t even know the name of the man she is libeling: “In an upbeat speech now being aired repeatedly on al-Jazeera, last week Rep. JOHN Murtha said….” (emphasis obviously added)

  90. Judd says:

I think it’s great that people of different political view points can use this as a forum to debate. But let’s try not to let this thread degenerate into a series of ad hominem attacks.

As to wallace’s claim that the section that I quote doesn’t refer to Murtha: the “they” refers to Democrats who advocate sending the troops out of Iraq. Coulter herself uses Murtha as the leading example of someone in that category. So she is referring to Murtha.

  91. WORFEUS says:

Actually Bob, I hate to correct you, but Jack is just short for John. His real name is John P. Murtha.

Don’t think your gonna get a cunning and crafty fox like Eva, oops, did it again, Anne, with something as simple as that.

  92. WORFEUS says:

    RYAN NEAT:

That is the nail on the head as far as Iraq is concerned Ryan.

What we can’t just seem to explain to republicans and the chrisitan right, is that if we were invaded, by same a benevolant occupier, like the China-Russo alliance, and if they were just doing it for “regime change” because we have “weapons of mass destruction” and they were here in their minds to “restore democracy” to the American people, we would fight them, kill them, anyway we could.

We would never stop, as long as they had “boots on the ground” on American soil. Well at least most of us would.

Perhaps Anne Coulter and her right wings cronies who thing the Iraqi people should collaborate with us, would collaborate as well.

Course then when we finally repelled our benevolant but misguided Chinese-Russian masters, everyone who collaborated with the enemy would end up on the business end of a rope, streching it with their necks.

wwallece, please explain how Judd’s quotes from Coulter’s article misrepresent what Coulter wrote, i.e., how Judd’s excerpts distort Coulter’s stated opinion on the Democrats and Murtha, and how she did not call Democrats traitors.

Please explain how Coulter’s article should be read instead.

    From Judd’s excerpt:
“It is simply a fact that Democrats like Murtha are encouraging the Iraqi insurgents when they say the war is going badly and it’s time to bring the troops home”

There it is – Murtha’s last name. Please explain how this does not refer to Murtha.

Please clarify: Is it Anti-American to criticise Ann Coulter?

  98. Gary says:

    #101 hi Susan,
“Why does the pathetic media give her so much air time ?!”

it’s because people of lower intelligence need things explaining to them in simple black-and-white terms so they can understand. Ann communicates this way. The problem is the people of lower intelligence then understand things in simple black-and-white terms, hence extremists are formed. It serves the extreme republican agenda as most extremists are people of lower intelligence.

  101. WORFEUS says:

To Eva Braun,, oops, there I go again, I mean Anne Coulter.

Let me tell you about what “emboldens” our enemies.

Our enemies are emboldened by watching our military breakdown in the quagmire of Iraq, learning, watching our tactics and seeing our weapons, how effective, or not effective they are. Before Iraq, everyone thought we had more troops, and more capabilities. Now they know we don’t.

Our enemies are emboldened by seeing we are not tactically as smart as we thought we were, putting troops into a massive insurgency that ensures the deaths of several of them every day.

Our enemies are emboldened by seeing American cruelty in places like Abu Ghraib, and Guantanamo.

Our enemies are emboldened by seeing us revert to using chemical weapons, and breaking other international laws and committing war crimes, the same crimes that we claimed were the basis of our invasion of Iraq.

But what terrifies our enemies, our real enemies, is our capability for discourse, protest and self examination.

Lil Georgy is right about one thing, “they hate us for our freedom”. Too bad that you do as well, Ms Brau…..err…….I mean Coulter.

  103. Pessimist says:

Calling Ms. Coulter names serves no purpose. And calling poster “wwallace” a “retard” provides no benefit and only lowers the level of debate down to that of a childish spat.

In regard to Ms. Coulter’s position that all democrats are traitorous cowards that want to bring harm to their fellow americans, it is an absurd claim that is almost too easy to refute. However, the focus should be on refuting the claim and making the obvious counter-points that such a position opens itself up for. For example, one could argue that under-armoring the troops, ignoring the poor, and having unqualified management in charge of emergency services has harmed more americans than any administration/political party in history.

Now, poster “wwallace” was responded to with facts and articulate rebuttals by numerous people to which wwallace only spewed out insults and baseless accusations. This is unfortunate for wwallace as it missed the opportunity to engage in a coherent and considered debate. However, my experience is that the majority of discussions here maintain the civility and integrity that one should expect in a public conversation and for that the operators of this blog should be commended.

My thoughts are that the “high road” should be the path of choice and that those who attempt to drag people down into the muck in an attempt to derail intelligent conversation should be dismissed and ignored so as to allow them to wallow in the mud without company.

    Live well.

2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 ¶ And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 ¶ There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 ¶ And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

    freedom is not free,

When I preface a comment with “My thoughts”, that means that I am expressing what I think so that the reader can understand that I am not being dictatorial or condescending. So, do you have a different opinion?

In regard to your other posts where you attempt to quote the bible, you are not applying relevant passages nor do you complete the thoughts. Your quote from Genesis in post #116 does not follow up with God’s covenant. Do you know that of which I speak.

And lastly, “Freedom” is free for it was God who gave us free will, aka freedom. God did not sell it to us or tell us that we have to kill for it. I kid you not, look it up.

Oh dear. If people don’t know that Couter is low class…..you can’t tell them. Duh.
Get a life folks. Lets pull together and get some reason going….get it back. Coulter sounds like a dysfuncional teenager. Why do Americans accept this level of dialogue? I’ll give my theory. Cause we have fallen folks….fallen down to her level. Americans are not as educated as they once were, more spoiled, and have bought the crap that we are the greatest country on earth for too long. A country has to earn that. And it’s earned with class, nobility, knowledge, and character. None of these adjectives describe someone that can get down to Coulter’s level of personal sliming and irrational argument. Now I know how countries go down….it’s when the citizens forget politeness, reason, compassion, and honesty. The one liner people that want to throw their little pile of shit and feel powerful with their little “zingers” are pathetic. They don’t think. They just feel and they destroy ….fighting the other half of America when we should all be looking at our leadership……look where our country is for God’s sake…..you think this “just happened?” Divide and conquer…duh

  121. Gregor Samsa says:

    Pessimist,

wwallace is a typical example of the self-professed “conservatives” who pollute Think Progress’ threads with hate-filled language, racial slurs, sexual and scatological references, as well as openly insulting comments about anyone who disagrees with them. Dissent and disagreement are not an option for them.

Very few times have I had the chance to actually engage any of them in an exchange of ideas. I think the nicest word wwallace has had for me was “imbecile”.

I have (very) conservative friends and relatives -they are nothing like the ones you will find here. Most of these “conservatives” come here to unload their frustrations, anger, and are very quick to hurl the worst insults they can think of.

If you are new to this blog, you better brace yourself.

  122. Suzanne says:

    Yes Gregor,
I hear you . I think that this is like a fad….this way of discourse. It’s the “in” thing to hurl these vicious stupid one or two line responses. But fads pass. I mean it. It wasn’t like this 5 years ago. People couldn’t have imagined the low class level of dialogue that is almost expected now. Doesn’t it make you afraid for our country? It does me. Cause the people that are hurling are not interested in doing the work of thinking about our future in a serious way. They are shooting themselves in the foot by attacking fellow Americans. Just what Rove wants…why else does he keep stoking the liberal / conservative fight with his filthy comments? The people playing into it…..They aren’t serious. They think Democracy was delivered by the stork.

  123. Gregor Samsa says:

    Suzanne,

I was specially taken aback by the Jerry-Springuesque discourse that I have found here. It reminds me of people who, upon having their beliefs challenged in a serious way, get very aggressive.

That aggresion is specially vicious in a blog where everyone can post opinions anonymously -since it allows people to say things they wouldn’t otherwise. Much less in public.

I said it before: What we have here is these people’s true self. And pretty, it ain’t.

  124. circusfifthfloor says:

Have you ever noticed the look on Ann’s face when she speaks? It’s as if she is astonished hearing her own voice, similar to a puppet hearing his voice push against the air for the first time. Take a look next time, it’ll be fun. Dear God, I have way too much time on my hands.

  125. Pessimist says:

    Gregor,

I understand what you are saying and have certainly seen plenty of examples of the raging conservative of which you speak. It is disappointing, but I try not to let it bother me. I have found from my experiences that people jump into fights, either physically or verbally, only when they are insecure in their argument or themselves.

As for “bracing myself”, I’m not worried. The benefit of the amount of intelligent discourse and sharing of ideas far outweighs the risk of stumbling across a troll or two.

  126. Suzanne says:

Well said Gregor and Pessimist. It’s almost like parallel track. On one side people are actually discussing, on the other they are like the clown squiting the seltzer bottles and making crude noises. I think that our country has begun a self searching period. I don’t, unfortunately, think that Bush came from the stork either. He came from……….us. The American people. He represents a lot of what this country has become. Now we have to do the work to start a new life and it ain’t easy. Like an addict that has to choose. We’re at a fork in the road.

I doubt any of the insurgents are sitting around gaining motivation to kill our troops by watching Hardball.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but nearly all of her vicious attacks are on liberal men. I’m not talking about the Hannity and Limbaugh types who squat to pee, but REAL men like Murtha. I guess that means she’s like I-RIGHT-I and just plan frustrated.

I mean, even a rightwinger like me can see that both of them need to get laid. Maybe the title of her next book ought to read, “How to get Laid by a Liberal, if you must.”

Of all your posts, I found only four that are actually relevant to the topic of the thread. The rest are attacks on other people, or tangent remarks (Clinton, liberals, etc.).

First, three posts on the use of ellipsis:

What a dishonest use of ellipses, Judd. Not that dishonesty from the paid propagandists of ThinkFailure is any surprise.
    Judd said, “I love…Saddam Hussein…and Osama bin Ladin …too.”

Again, please explain how Judd’s excerpt misrepresents what Coulter wrote. In your opinion, how should her article should be read instead?

And one on the subject of the thread itself:

Finally, you implied that criticising Coulter is Anti-American. In your opinion, is it Anti-American to criticise Ann Coulter?

You have complained in the past about us “liberals” not allowing you to fully explain your opinions, and insulting you -here I am asking you to do so. Without insults.

  165. Susan says:

If criticising Coulter makes me un-American so be it.

I know he won’t call or come over to my house because he’s a sissy. If I thought otherwise, I wouldn’t put my info out there for everyone to see.

  167. Tria says:

I don’t have a weblink, but there’s a photo from the WWII liberation of Paris that invariably reminds me of Ann Coulter. It shows a smartly-dressed Frenchwoman, quite clearly a Nazi collaborator, while she tries to outrun some neighbors who just shaved her head.

ADVICE TO ANN: Get a haircut!

Your posts,#s 124 and 126 are a reflection of a wonderful, alert mind. It’s reassuring to know there are others out there who can articulate passion in a precise and thoughtful manner. Thank you and good night.

  169. wwallace says:

    Ryan bin Ladin,

When you actually are capable of adding something other than nonsense and retarded talking points, people might actually give your claims that the other side only insults. All you do is make ad hominem attacks on conservatives, and smear people without proof.

  170. wwallace says:

Gregor, “Finally, you implied that criticising Coulter is Anti-American.”

Since this is a complete and total lie, you have done nothing but prove you are unworthy of being taken at all seriously.

  171. wwallace says:

Susan is only half right. I know she lives in a mental facility. I don’t know which one.

  172. Zwack says:

“Gregor is a typical example of the self-professed “liberals” who pollute Think Progress’ threads with hate-filled language, racial slurs, sexual and scatological references, as well as openly insulting comments about anyone who disagrees with them. Dissent and disagreement are not an option for them.” – wwallace.

Let me change one or two words in that…
Gregor becomes wwallace (btw I hope that name is not based on William Wallace of Elerslie because I suspect he wouldn’t like the comparison)
Liberals becomes Conservatives… Yup, that fits.

Wwallace, I have asked straightforward, simple questions. Shown where I disagreed and asked for your comment. I tried to debate in a reasoned manner. You insulted me in exchange. As a result I included a few ad hominem asides in some of my responses. At no point have you given anything that passes for a rational argument. If you would like to try again it’s easy.

Give one place where either a) Judd took Ann Coulter’s words out of context or b) an example of where the phrase “Democrats like Murtha” or later “Democrats” does not apply to Jack Murtha? All I ask is one example. We can take it from there.

By The Way you might also want to read the following http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~norman/Jokes-file/LogicProfessor.html it might help explain some common logical fallacies.

So you seem to say criticising Coulter is not anti-American. I finally got an answer, of sorts. We are making, ahem, progress.

Now, how about answering my other questions?

  176. wwallace says:

All I am doing is asking questions -you usually assert something but provide no evidence.

If you go to my post #169, you will see that I looked for answers to my questions, but could only find four post by you that were actually relevant. Those were the comments that prompted me to ask you. So far, I have seen no explanation.

How am I supposed to debate if you refuse to explain the points I want to debate on?

  180. wwallace says:

Gregor, I answered your questions. How am I supposed to debate you, when you lie about what’s been said?

  182. Zwack says:

“Zwack, I see no reason to answer a question I already answered before.” – wwallace

I have just searched through this entire page for all of your comments, just in case I missed it.

No, you didn’t answer any of my questions or comments. You stated I was talking BS, you accused people of things, but you never showed any proof of anything. If youposted it as someone other than wwallace then you’ll need to tell me which name you used.

Unless you can start debating rationally then nothing you say is likely to be of any interest to me.

Stating an opinion and then repeating it does not count as an argument unless you are a member of the Monty Python team.

Please point me to your answers. What numbers do they have in this thread?

  184. Zwack says:

Gregor, They’re not there if they are under the name wwallace. I searched the entire page for every reference to that name. There is no debate. He accuses Judd of lying through editing, and he states that “Democrats” doesn’t mean “Murtha”… Other than that there are no posts that consist of anything other than insults.

I tried, you tried. I even did my best not to insult him too much (sometimes it’s too hard not to throw in an ad hominem aside)…

    Z.

  185. Gregor Samsa says:

    Zwack,

Yes, I combed the entire thread… again, I only found four relevant post by wwallace. And those were the comments I asked about.

All I need is the number of the comment(s). Is that too much to ask?

Maybe what Ann Coulter needs is to hear from some people from her own camp on why being in Iraq is a bad idea.

    ____________________________________________________
I think that the proposition of going to Baghdad is also fallacious. I think if we were going to remove Saddam Hussein we would have had to go all the way to Baghdad, we would have to commit a lot of force because I do not believe he would wait in the Presidential Palace for us to arrive. I think we’d have had to hunt him down. And once we’d done that and we’d gotten rid of Saddam Hussein and his government, then we’d have had to put another government in its place.

What kind of government? Should it be a Sunni government or Shi’i government or a Kurdish government or Ba’athist regime? Or maybe we want to bring in some of the Islamic fundamentalists? How long would we have had to stay in Baghdad to keep that government in place? What would happen to the government once U.S. forces withdrew?

How many casualties should the United States accept in that effort to try to create clarity and stability in a situation that is inherently unstable? I think it is vitally important for a President to know when to use military force.

I think it is also very important for him to know when not to commit U.S. military force. And it’s my view that the President got it right both times, that it would have been a mistake for us to get bogged down in the quagmire inside Iraq.”

  194. Mr. Evil says:

Using George Bush’s logic (if you can say what he uses qualifies as logic), you should attack your perceived enemy before they have the opportunity to attack you. By this reasoning if any country feels threatened by the United States, they have every right to attack us before we attack them.

So if the neocons remain in power and continue to antagonize much of the world in the same manner as they do now with the same above said pretzel logic, how long will it be before, say, China or Russia or even Germany or Turkey or any combination of these or any other countries attack us because of “their” perceived paranoia of The United States?

But I like to believe that “America” did not attack Iraq in the normal sense. It was attacked by a small faction of power brokers, the most sinister and manipulative special interest group ever conceived… The Project for the New American Century.

Through fear they easily make people like wwallace, Mighty Aphrodite, I-Right-I, Northeast Dilemma, etc. feel empowered (you’re either for us or against us and a true patriot is for us sort of mentality) and more secure because we took (for the first time) the preemptive strategy, projecting the tough guy, we’re not going to wait to be attacked by Iraq attitude. Since the Bush administration has taken this route they have opened a Pandora’s Box for our actual security in the near future. If Bush can justify his actions because he believes he is being directed by God, what is to keep any other country or countries from justifying attacking us for whatever reason they wish to create.

This fear is not perceived or imaginary. It is fast becoming quite real.

  195. Canadian Bystander says:

Just kind of watching this unfold from afar (as usual: note my nationality), but I have to say that Zwack and Gregor have the right idea – just keep asking for proof. Don’t get sucked into childish name-calling or comments about sexual inadequacies and all that bullshit. That’s what they want – a muddy river full of insults. That way it’s a draw and they can walk away thinking no one laid a hand on them cuz you’re just as bad as they are.

Just keep asking for proof. Stop with the childishness. Ann Coulter started this with her nasty, lying, possibly libelous statement. Don’t sink to her level, or worse, the dank level beneath her where all the rest of them lie.

Just ask for proof. Calmy and insistently. Nothing drives a liar crazier.

I guess Annie’s not aware that women ALREADY had the right to vote–they even served in the Iraqi Parliament. Any other consideration would have proved to be a REVERSAL in Iraqi politics.

That really is an excellent point. That is one of those pesky little facts Ms Brau….er..Coulter seems to conveniently omit in her reischtag rants.

Prior to we got there and started spreading, what is it were spreading again? Oh yea, “Democracy”. Prior to our going there and spreading democracy, the Iraqi people were doing pretty well on average. Shops and stores were open, electricity was on every day, all day, there was clean water, food, industry, education, the arts. (and yes there were some slums, we’ve got em too). But all in all, Bagdhad looked like any other reasonably normal city.

Now Bagdhad looks like some sort of surreal warscape for a Hollywood movie. Blood, horror, destruction, are a daily occurance, electricity is on about an hour or two before going out, water and food have to be brought in, and NO place is safe in the so called “green zone”.

People were living the lives they were accustomed to, and Saddam, bad as he was, was able to keep order, and control the warring factions.

If right wingers like Frau Coulter don’t like the way he went about it, I guess they should have never put him into power there in the first place.

Yea, I’ll bet the Iraqi people are thrilled at their new found, freedom.

Their all free to die whenever they want to.

As usual Ann Coulter spits her nasty venon on anyone who dares to speak out against the stupid policies of the Bush administration. She has the nerve to attack Mr Murtha from her ivory tower, but she has never served a day in a uniform. She need to shut her pie hole use that pea brain she has too see reality as it really is. Ms Coulter is the most hateful person I have ever had the displeasure to see in my life. That is why she was considered fair game by the nut who attacked her recently.

She has a nasty habit of making her political attacks personal and if she were a man, she’d be getting knocked on her butt alot. I don’t believe in hitting a women, but in her case I can see why someone would want to. It’s one thing to be a republican, but she takes it way too far with her hatred for fellow Americans. Yes, all of you Ann supporters, we democrats are Americans too. And alot of us served in the military unlike Mr Cheney, the Chicken Hawk.

Ann Coulter is another “Chicken Hawk”, who is willing to send other people’s children off to war to die for no good reason. I don’t see “W’s” girls serving their country in Iraq. The day they join the military and serve in Iraq, is the day I will think it’s ok for my child to serve there. Since these republican attack Chicken Hawks are so for war, why don’t they ask their rich children to serve? They won’t do that and I know why too. It’s because their children might get wounded and lose a limb or even worst die. Guest what Ann, your precious children are no better than ours.

Besides I don’t see you taking your skinny A– over to Iraq to fight in a war you are so crazy about. You won’t do it because you are a COWARD and you know it. Shut up or put up Ann, other wise I don’t want to hear another word from you. And for those idiots who may not like my comments, I served 11 years in the Unites States Army. I am a former Infantryman who saw combat and I know what it’s like to get shot at and see your friends get wasted. When I see idiots like Ann speak, it makes me sick to my stomach. Pinch me, is this Frau Braun, err, I mean Coulter herself? If not, perhaps it is her evil twin or something.

After all, the intellegence level of that post seems about right for Frau Coulter.

The 60’s school of thought we come from says, “make love, not war”. Your right wing, trailer park pious pulpit mentality, the same mentality that has been butchering mankind in the name of Christ for 2000 years, says, “make war, NOT love”.

Your injudicious concern with how others use their own genitalia has pushed out their capability for reason and humantity.

We think our feelings are facts?

Seems to me it’s you guys who think your feelings are facts. Your the ones preaching from the bully pulpit about “he thats not with us, is against us” (quoting Jesus Christ to go to war, nice, I’ll bet Jesus appreciated it), and using emotions and feelings to rally the war cry.

And your own twisted ideals that say we can FORCE people at the barrel of a gun to be good little American puppets.

You think it’s “ok” that we made some mistakes, got some intelligence wrong? You think we can just move on and make lemonade out of this lemon? Were talking about death here. Killing tens of thousands of people and then saying “oops, sorry about that guys”.

The only thing you are spreading in Iraq, is death, blood and horror, and history will label you as the butchers and war criminals that you are.

The troops are loyal to you, too bad your not loyal to the troops. If you were, you would never send them off to fight for a war that is not crucial to our survival.

Myself, I don’t think that Coulter qualifies as female — hell, as human — by even the most generous standards.

Prior to our going there and spreading democracy, the Iraqi people were doing pretty well on average. Shops and stores were open, electricity was on every day, all day, there was clean water, food, industry, education, the arts. (and yes there were some slums, we’ve got em too). But all in all, Bagdhad looked like any other reasonably normal city.” – WORTFEUs
**** My dear Mr. Wortfeus, I hardly know where to begin discussing you sophmoric “half” argument – but being an optimist, I will. Baghdad WAS a great city – if you did not have a critical thought about Saddam, his “regulations”, his cut-throat sons, his regime, etc. Baghdad was great – if you weren’t a dead Kurd. It was an oasis, if you weren’t an oppressed Shiite. Baghdad was a great city in a great country where 98.4% of voters favoured the incumbant. Boy, I’ll take a cruel dictator ANY day, if I can go and enjoy the thrill of the arts and my kids can read “Ode to Saddam” every day in class! Gee… thinking historically, you must really be sad to have missed out on the trains running on time in Italy and Germany. The SAD truth is so many progs do not value FREEDOM – rather, they value comfort without cost. Your entitlement mentality demonstrates the laziness of most liberals and progressives. As with so many vacuous “thinkers”, your sense of the “immediate” and “self” are pitiful and predictable.

And as for Saddams being cruel? No sh#(#t. There are a lot of cruel dictators, some starving millions. But I don’t see you knocking on North Koreas door there, Berlin Betty.

When you want to stand up and demonstrate your toughness with a little humane intervention, where it’s really needed, then give me a call, we can talk.

Guilt – and the need to “feel” so fabulous about themselves? How about this: those elitists should just donate their $$$$ to the charity of their choice – anonymously.

Another fine exampple of human debris is Senator Ted “the Swimmer” Kennedy – or his “junior” Senator, JF Kerry. These “pubic minded” civil servants want to relegate poor inner city kids to awful public schools, but I seem to recall their kids attending expensive private schools. And, newbie, before you start shrieking about $$$ for public schools – I’ve already written a recipe to cure the ills of public ed. – (My apologies for repeating this, but…)
a.) START public school teachers at $80,000.-/ year salaries. (Inner city teachers would START at $100,000.- / year.
b.) NO MORE TENURE – FIRE lousy teachers & quit shifting lousy teachers to poor schools.
c.) Only “A” and “B” students will be accepted into the teaching program. I would lose all the dead weight of the “C” and “D” students.

By the way, you’re Berlin Betty and reich wing stuff is pretty old. (My dear departed Jewish mother fled Austria after they were occupied – so she was not a huge fan of German culture or French collaborative culture.) And thanks for just admitting your chickenshit strategy. You said ### you like us to take on the Red Chinese? Where are you? Tell me and I’ll tell you how long you’ll have to live after the nuclear cloud starts drifting your way ###

You have just made it clear that you only pick fights with little guys who can’t fight back, which if you could read, you would understand that’s been my point all along. Don’t talk tough about beating up someone who can’t defend themselves. And if your gonna start freeing people from Dictators, you might want to start with the big boys. Kick there ass, and you won’t have to worry about the little ones.

And if you can’t do that, then maybe you’d better start learning to listen to that guy you call your savior, and start learning to get along with your neighbors.

What’s that the good book says? “He who lives by the sword will prosper?” Is that it? Oh no, that’s wrong, it was “he who lives by the sword, shall DIE by the sword”. Gee…, thats pretty depressing. Oh well, what does the bible know anyway.

And and by the way, your chickenshit plan to attack the defensless and “talk” with those who can defend themselves, has just convinced every little country out there, that the way to avoid US bombs is to possess Nuclear Weapons.

As for contributing militarily, I have. My brother is an active duty Navy fighter pilot. I suspect the only contribution you make to the United States – notice how I didn’t insult you and say “our country” – is the $4.98 you pay in taxes and your “gimme more” vote.

I-RIGHT-I – You mean teachers should ACTUALLY have to read AND write???? That sounds mentally strenuous to me!! Notice how the intellectual giants here make all kinds of excuses so as to retain crappy teachers? Notice also that the other two trolls haven’t exactly jumped to his defense either. They bring nothing but spite and ignorance here and we’ve got better things to talk about. Actually, we have things to talk about, unlike the mental and emotional circle-jerkers on the right wing where these losers properly belong, and we should be focusing on that. They have nothing to add to mature, adult discourse and they prove it over and over. Responding to their nonsense just feeds their pathological need for attention, take it away and they’ll sulk off back to Freeperland where Saddam Hussein had nuclear weapons and exchanged back rubs with Osama while they planned 9/11.

Can we stop giving them air now?

David Duke: It hurts my heart to tell you that part of my country is occupied by Zionists, just as part of your country, the Golan Heights, is occupied by Zionists.

Interpreter: It saddens me and it hurts my heart to tell you that parts of my country are occupied, just as parts of your country, namely the occupied Golan, are occupied by the Zionists.

David Duke: The Zionists occupy must of the American media and now control much of American government.

Interpreter: The Zionists control most of the media outlets, and they also control the American government.

David Duke: It is not just the West Bank of Palestine, it is not just the Golan Heights that are occupied by the Zionists, but Washington DC, and New York, and London, and many other capitals in the world.

Interpreter: It is not just the West Bank, Gaza, and the Golan Heights that are occupied by the Zionists. Washington DC, New York, London, and other cities and capitals around the world are occupied by the Zionists.

David Duke: Your fight for freedom is the same as our fight for freedom.

Interpreter: Just as the Europeans are fighting for freedom, the Arabs are fighting for freedom.

David Duke: I bring you a message from many Americans, from many people in Britain, and around the Western world. We say in unison: No war for Israel.

Interpreter: I have brought you a message from most of the Western world, from America, from Britain. The message is: No to war, no to Israel.

    Duke: No war for Israel!

Crowd chants along with David Duke

David Duke: No war for Israel, no war for Israel, no war for Israel, no war for Israel!

Just the opposite, we’re pressing the buttons. Why do you think it’s so much fun? Do I agree with Coulter about Murtha? Not exactly. I don’t think Murtha actually hates the troops but his actions amount to the same thing. Murtha’s an old fool writing a book and playing to the peanut gallery. Kennedy, Clinton and some others though, oh yeah, they hate the troops and the troops hate them.

Do I know you? I don’t think so. You want ME to provide proof that the Donks hate the troops? Isn’t it enough proof to hear the things they say about Bush, the Commander and Chief? About the war in general? About lies? The Democrats are only interested in the USA losing the fight in the Middle East and they don’t care how many troops we lose as long as the terrorists “run the USA out of town”.

Show me something they’ve done to support the war effort thus supporting the troops besides voting to send them in the first place? You can’t do it because the Democrats hate Bush, hate America and by extension hate our men and women in the service.

  299. I-RIgHT-I says:

    Another kind of war protestor….YIKES!!!

The leader of Iraq’s most powerful political party has called on the United States to let Iraqi fighters take a more aggressive role against insurgents, saying his country will only be able to defeat the insurgency when the United States lets Iraqis get tough.

“The more freedom given to Iraqis, the more chance for further progress there would be, particularly in fighting terror,” said Abdul Aziz Hakim, head of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq, the Shiite Muslim religious party that leads the transitional government and whose armed wing is the most feared of Iraq’s many factional forces.

Instead, Hakim asserted in a rare interview late last week, the United States is tying Iraq’s hands in the fight against insurgents. One of Iraq’s “biggest problems is the mistaken or wrong policies practiced by the Americans,” he said.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/11/26/AR2005112601211.html

Now, let’s be clear. This is one of the real leaders of Iraq and he’s telling us to get out of the way and let them do what needs to be done to clean out the Sunni Triangle and the Sunni insurgents coming in from Syria and Iran. I think he’s tired of his mosques, grade schools and weddings being bombed and his people killed. The good thing is when he gets his chance (and he will) there won’t be any peace/love/dove Leftwing Loser Democrats around crying about abuse and atrocities committed against the terrorists and tying the hands of the military. Why? Because he’ll kill all the whiners he can and deport the rest. There will be no more Democrats visiting Iraq. So who do you think really wants to cut troops and hand over more responsibility to the Iraqis? Bush or Murtha and the Donks?

First of all, I would like to say that thankfully I don’t watch TV too much to see this kind of nonsense. Plus, there is nothing really that good on.

Second of all, I would like to ask Mighty Aphrodite a couple of questions:

In #266, you said, and I quote, “…the SAD truth is so many progs do not value FREEDOM- rather, they value comfort without cost.” Apparently most of AMERICA, both of the left and the right (and in the middle), value comfort over cost as well. What sacrifices have the majority of Americans made for this war? Where are the victory gardens, the collection of metal and tin, the gas rationings? Why haven’t women been giving up their panty hose to make nylon parachutes? Americans value the comfort of OIL over cost. Every single one of us (and when I mean “us”, I include myself here) is guilty of it. People look pretty comfortable to me- one would never know a war was going on.

In #312, you said that you have contributed to the military because, and again I quote, “My brother is an active duty Navy pilot”. Exactly. YOUR BROTHER is active duty military…NOT YOU. That’s like when I hear people say, “Well my brother went to Iraq, so I know what it’s like”. NO YOU DON’T. Don’t try and pass off someone else’s experiences and knowledge as your own, unless you’ve gone to Iraq or Afghanistan.

Just for the record, becuase I KNOW somebody is gonna accuse me of “hating the troops”, I just left the U.S Army after 5 years of service and a tour of Iraq that only ended in February of this year. I was assigned to Bravo Company, 701st MSB, 1st Infantry Division, based out of Kitzingen, Germany, and spent a year on Forward Operating Base Speicher, which is just outside of Tikrit. Anybody feel like calling me a “coward”? Bring it.

  311. Mark Marco says:

Yes, the dems are facing reality! Which explains the foaming at the mouth Murtha denouncing the progress of our troops who are risking their asses getting shot off. Dems in ‘08! They’re the party of the people…mainly the Baathist people but who’s counting?

Comment by I-RIgHT-I — November 27, 2005 @ 10:25 am Actually no, it’s not enough proof. All you’ve done is parrot what you’ve heard from Annie and the other professional haters. You’re the one accusing Democrats of hating the troops and you have yet to provide any objective proof of it, save to assert that because we rightfully think that Bush was full of s**t when he said that Iraq was a threat and want to hold him to account on it that we also somehow hate America and by extension, somehow hate the troops. That’s some pretty big leaps, and “somehow” isn’t an acceptable standard, give me just one Democrat quoted as saying that they hate America and the troops. Just one.

No, we don’t hate America, we hate what’s being done to it by people who think as you do. And we don’t hate the troops, we hate what’s being done to them by an administration that sent them to fight in a war not worthy of their sacrifices. And we want the lies that are killing them to stop.

So I’m done with you, slag me as you like ’cause that’s really all you have, but coming from you it’s more of a compliment because it shows how much you fear us.

Annie, why don’t you get your gun and show the gutless “liberals” what you mean by patriotism?

  317. mighty aphrodite says:

Dan – been there – done that! You’re welcome!

  318. helloimhere says:

Please don’t thank me for my service. I did what I had to do and that’s that. And for that reason, I won’t thank you, either. I volunteered (before Bush got elected, mind you, but I assumed the risks anyway). Who you should really thank are the guys who got drafted (WWII, Vietnam)- they didn’t have a choice, and they got treated like crap when they got home.

    355. To answer your questions:

I have no plans on running for Congress. To do so used to be an honorable thing, but now it seems that politicians, both Republicans and Democrats, have lowered the position to that of a used-car salesman (no offense to used-car salesmen out there). People on both sides of the political spectrum blindly follow whoever it is that they think can help make their own star shine brighter- they don’t question, and they don’t think for themselves. They need to ask themselves if what they are doing and what they are voting on is what is best for not only their constituents, but Americans in general as well, which leads me to the next question…

Do I think the war with Iraq is justified….

Afghanistan? Yes. Iraq? No. The war with Iraq detracted from the original mission, which was outsting al-Queda and the Taliban in Afghanistan for retribution for 9/11, and to find Osama bin Laden. Osama bin Laden still has not been found…neither dead nor alive. It has already been shown that there were no Saddam Hussein/bin Laden links, which should come as no surprise because Hussein is a secularist, and bin Laden is a radical Islamist. It’d be like Elton John and Pat Robertson joining forces (although stranger bedfellows have occured). No weapons of mass destruction have been found, unless you call the massive amounts of pigeon poo found in the bunker where you stored your extra ammunition WMD…..then, heck yeah, they had a ton of it! (I’m convinced I’m gonna get a disease from that stuff down the road….yuck!).

    As for the “coward” part:

I’ve noticed that there are people (Rep. Schmidt from Ohio being one of them) who call vets that question or contradict the Administraton’s stance on this war, “cowards”, or other things- traitors, losers, or worse. I, for one, do not agree with anything this administration says or does concerning this war. So I guess this makes me a “coward”. I’m pretty sure, eventually, someone would have called me that, just because they wouldn’t have had anything intelligent to say.

Now, yes, I am a newbie to the site (thanks for noticing). TV stinks, and I get tired of people my age-
20 and 30 year olds- caring more about what greasy Britney Spears’ baby looks like (insulting mommy, not baby) than what’s really going on in the world. It makes me sick. I’ve lived out of the country for 3 years, and I am in reverse culture-shock, because the America I left is not the same America I came home to. Figured a little discourse in society and politics might cheer me up.

That being said, I have noticed (by reading all of the posts) that there are a few people here who, when they are asked a question/or questions, never really answer them. They either avoid answering completely, or give answers that are really just opinions, but try to pass those opinions off as truth/fact. Answer with legitimate facts, please. If not, you insult my intelligence and highlight your lack of it.

Look forward to further debate and any questions you guys might have about Iraq…like how hot it was…LOL..

  319. Mr. Evil says:

One thing I’ve never quite understood about the right-wingers calling people who have served during armed conflict (or for that matter those that have actually served in any capacity) cowards when they have mostly never served anything but themselves.

People in the armed forces cannot pick and choose their battles. They must go where and when they are ordered to go. It doesn’t matter who’s president, democrat or republican. You don’t have democratic service people only going to war if it’s a democratic president or only republican service people going if it’s a republican president. Yes, there is a segment that always gets excited about being deployed to a warzone, but I believe they are actually the minority. Once they arrive and become witness to the carnage and utter brutality of war most I believe are abruptly awakened to the very reality of it. The only people I would ever call cowards are the very ones that have never served (wartime or not) that so easily call those that have cowards simply because they want to understand clearly what their objective is during a war. Anyone that wears the uniform of their respective branch deserves that as much as anything. The troops deserve the truth. Having to kill at the behest of others is bad enough to have to live with should one survive a war, but doing so without a clear and concise objective is, to me, tantamount to having them fight and die for something other than protecting our nation.

When the Bush Administration sent our armed forces to war in Iraq it was initially deemed necessary to ward off an imminent attack by Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass destruction. Once we got there and none were found the justification quickly changed to removing a terrible dictator. Then about liberating the Iraqi people. Then about the mass graves. Then about spreading democracy in the middle east. Then about fighting the terrorists over there so we don’t have to fight them here. Which one is it? The ones that need and deserve to be told first and foremost are the troops.

What Ann Coulter and Jean Schmidt and others like them don’t understand about war is the fact that they’ve never been in one. Anyone that has served in this country’s armed forces honorably (especially during wartime) has every right before all others to critique it and demand what the strategy is for it. “Stay the course” is not a strategy. You need a plan for the course, a beginninng, the duration and an end. War is not a game. It is about death. Killing and maiming and being killed and maimed. It’s not a festive atmosphere like a football game. Now if another country actually came over here and tried to take over and tried to force us to toss all of our ideals and personal lifestyles and freedoms I firmly believe that most all Americans would raid the gun shops and Wal-Marts and vigorously defend this nation and destroy anyone that tried such a ridiculous thing.

Those that treat this war in Iraq like some sort of esteem building device and want it to continue without any real detailed strategy are nothing more than cheerleaders for George Bush and the PNAC neocon agenda. It’s easy for all of those who’ve never been in the shit, so to speak, to talk the talk. But until you’ve actually walked the walk, how in the hell can anyone, in good conscience, call decorated service men or women, cowards.

Does she even posseses the capacity to understand how irreconcilable these two ideas are?

  325. Tom says:

I just feel sad for her. As frustrating as Ann Coulter can be, can you imagine how much you have to hate yourself in order to have that much hate for others? For instance, she has made comments about the role of women in society (meaning that she believes they should basically stay at home). She seems to hate herself for being a woman, and aspires to be more important than what she believes a woman should be. She hates herself for not being a man, but also hates herself for not being willing to accept being a woman. Because of this, she has allied herself with the bullies of the far right politically, people who for a short time will make her feel good about herself because she makes them happy by saying the things that even they may find too repugnant to say. (Just look at how her eyes light up whenever O’Reilly or HAnnity agrees with her or just seems happy with her comments — her eyes scream “I got you to like me”). Bullies are always lashing out at others to make themselves feel better in their skin — this is the very nature of the Neo-Cons in general. Coulter represents this disrespect for all other viewpoints and adds the personal self-hatred as her self-righteous trump card. She is a woman so pathetic that she would be worthy of pity if she werent so hateful.

  326. Mark Marco says:

Torn- Disagreement is hate? Only in lefty America!

  327. Tom says:

    Marco –

That isnt what I wrote, though I very much enjoy the Hannity / Limbaugh cherry-picking spin you put on it. I said that the woman hates herself and cited some examples of why I believe this to be true. If I am wrong about hating herself, so be it, but she certainly is filled with hatred at liberals. Look at the quotes and that have been attributed to her — liberals should be shot; Timothy McVeigh should have parked in front of the NY Times; etc. Not even Rush Limbaugh goes to the extremes that this woman does. She has some MAJOR issues — it appears to me to be hate. Hate, more often than not, comes from somewhere down deep.

As for disagreement, I think disagreement is a fantastic thing when minds can come together and discuss issues. THis is not Coulter’s way. She rarely actually argues a point, and, instead, says incendiary things to people with huge and irrational generalizations. SHe does use arguments in her writing, but, as with any writer, presents her side unimpeded by those who might disagree with what she has to say (which, I will offer, could be said of liberal writers). IT is in her books that, whereas I disagree with many things she has to say, at least there is an element of thought. When she is in an interview situation and she gets herself into a place where she might actually have to defend her point with logic or facts, she gets “deer in the headlights” eyes and makes hateful comments.

So, no, disagreement is not hate — I never said that. I said that her hate fuels her vitriolic disagreement.

However, I find it interesting that you would indicate that you believe disagreement is not hate (by saying that only in “liberal AMerica” would disagreement equal hate), especially considering that most right-wingers (to be fair, right-wingers as represented by the likes of Rush and Hannity and O’Reilly) believe that disagreement with conservative views and / or the President’s equals hate. So, if I understand the sentiment, disagreement with liberals isnt hate at all, but disagreement with conservatives is?

    Very enlightening.

    Tom
