It's funny how you morons, and by that I mean the Liberal left, think you know more than Ann Coulter. I would love to watch you try to win an argument with her....because you'd lose. At least she stands up for what she beleives instead of following idiots like Pelosi around like sheep. So get a life, and a brain. Or possibly, go hug a terrorist...that would be interesting.

Marco --

That isnt what I wrote, though I very much enjoy the Hannity / Limbaugh cherry-picking spin you put on it. I said that the woman hates herself and cited some examples of why I believe this to be true. If I am wrong about hating herself, so be it, but she certainly is filled with hatred at liberals. Look at the quotes and that have been attributed to her -- liberals should be shot; Timothy McVeigh should have parked in front of the NY Times; etc. Not even Rush Limbaugh goes to the extremes that this woman does. She has some MAJOR issues -- it appears to me to be hate. Hate, more often than not, comes from somewhere down deep.

As for disagreement, I think disagreement is a fantastic thing when minds can come together and discuss issues. THis is not Coulter's way. She rarely actually argues a point, and, instead, says incendiary things to people with huge and irrational generalizations. SHe does use arguments in her writing, but, as with any writer, presents her side unimpeded by those who might disagree with what she has to say (which, I will offer, could be said of liberal writers). IT is in her books that, whereas I disagree with many things she has to say, at least there is an element of thought. When she is in an interview situation and she gets herself into a place where she might actually have to defend her point with logic or facts, she gets "deer in the headlights" eyes and makes hateful comments.

So, no, disagreement is not hate -- I never said that. I said that her hate fuels her vitriolic disagreement.

However, I find it interesting that you would indicate that you believe disagreement is not hate (by saying that only in "liberal AMerica" would disagreement equal hate), especially considering that most right-wingers (to be fair, right-wingers as represented by the likes of Rush and Hannity and O'Reilly) believe that disagreement with conservative views and / or the President's equals hate. So, if I understand the sentiment, disagreement with liberals isnt hate at all, but disagreement with conservatives is?

Very enlightening.

I just feel sad for her. As frustrating as Ann Coulter can be, can you imagine how much you have to hate yourself in order to have that much hate for others? For instance, she has made comments about the role of women in society (meaning that she believes they should basically stay at home). She seems to hate herself for being a woman, and aspires to be more important than what she believes a woman should be. She hates herself for not being a man, but also hates herself for not being willing to accept being a woman. Because of this, she has allied herself with the bullies of the far right politically, people who for a short time will make her feel good about herself because she makes them happy by saying the things that even they may find too repugnant to say. (Just look at how her eyes light up whenever O'Reilly or HAnnity agrees with her or just seems happy with her comments -- her eyes scream "I got you to like me"). Bullies are always lashing out at others to make themselves feel better in their skin -- this is the very nature of the Neo-Cons in general. Coulter represents this disrespect for all other viewpoints and adds the personal self-hatred as her self-righteous trump card. She is a woman so pathetic that she would be worthy of pity if she werent so hateful.

It gets worse. In her latest column she tries to "Swift Boat" him, implying that his medals were fraudulent.

It had to happen. I'm just annoyed with her that she posted her column yesterday, because I had two dozen donuts on Friday in the pool to guess when someone would "Swift-boat" Murtha.

"Thank you for your service. Either you’re new here or acting like it. I spent 12 years in the military as did my husband. You, in turn, are welcome. Bring what?? Where????
Comment by mighty aphrodite"

A JAG is not military service. My civil service was more of a military service than that. Military service is when you carry a gun, and you actually are a soldier. You guys played dress up and haggled over the military code.

Wah, Wah, Wah...

Not the same there MizzMoron

And besides, Did you receive a scholarship through the military for college? That's a form of 'welfare' you know for the underpriveleged. You always claim you're against welfare and liberal ideas. But here you are, most likely pity case equal opportunity charity for the military. And a WOMAN who wouldn't have even been able to be a jag without the efforts of liberals.

You live in a fabricated fantasy world there you STUPID COW!

In Anne's bizzarro world:

Murtha is a traitor for saying with should leave iraq and let the iranian mullahs spill their own blood to take it over instead of using ours.

Karl Rove, on the other hand, is NOT a traitor for leaking the name of a CIA agent during "wartime" (which is from now to armageddon according to these douchebags).

Does she even posseses the capacity to understand how irreconcilable these two ideas are?

Has anyone heard Ann utter a word about the CIA leak case? Or is exercising your 1st amendment rights just more a crime than blowing the cover of government agent..

One thing I've never quite understood about the right-wingers calling people who have served during armed conflict (or for that matter those that have actually served in any capacity) cowards when they have mostly never served anything but themselves.

People in the armed forces cannot pick and choose their battles. They must go where and when they are ordered to go. It doesn't matter who's president, democrat or republican. You don't have democratic service people only going to war if it's a democratic president or only republican service people going if it's a republican president. Yes, there is a segment that always gets excited about being deployed to a warzone, but I believe they are actually the minority. Once they arrive and become witness to the carnage and utter brutality of war most I believe are abruptly awakened to the very reality of it. The only people I would ever call cowards are the very ones that have never served (wartime or not) that so easily call those that have cowards simply because they want to understand clearly what their objective is during a war. Anyone that wears the uniform of their respective branch deserves that as much as anything. The troops deserve the truth. Having to kill at the behest of others is bad enough to have to live with should one survive a war, but doing so without a clear and concise objective is, to me, tantamount to having them fight and die for something other than protecting our nation.

When the Bush Administration sent our armed forces to war in Iraq it was initially deemed necessary to ward off an imminent attack by Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass destruction. Once we got there and none were found the justification quickly changed to removing a terrible dictator. Then about liberating the Iraqi people. Then about the mass graves. Then about spreading democracy in the middle east. Then about fighting the terrorists over there so we don't have to fight them here. Which one is it? The ones that need and deserve to be told first and foremost are the troops.

What Ann Coulter and Jean Schmidt and others like them don't understand about war is the fact that they've never been in one. Anyone that has served in this country's armed forces honorably (especially during wartime) has every right before all others to critique it and demand what the strategy is for it. "Stay the course" is not a strategy. You need a plan for the course, a beginninng, the duration and an end. War is not a game. It is about death. Killing and maiming and being killed and maimed. It's not a festive atmosphere like a football game. Now if another country actually came over here and tried to take over and tried to force us to toss all of our ideals and personal lifestyles and freedoms I firmly believe that most all Americans would raid the gun shops and Wal-Marts and vigorously defend this nation and destroy anyone that tried such a ridiculous thing.

Those that treat this war in Iraq like some sort of esteem building device and want it to continue without any real detailed strategy are nothing more than cheerleaders for George Bush and the PNAC neocon agenda. It's easy for all of those who've never been in the shit, so to speak, to talk the talk. But until you've actually walked the walk, how in the hell can anyone, in good conscience, call decorated service men or women, cowards.

Please don't thank me for my service. I did what I had to do and that's that. And for that reason, I won't thank you, either. I volunteered (before Bush got elected, mind you, but I assumed the risks anyway). Who you should really thank are the guys who got drafted (WWII, Vietnam)- they didn't have a choice, and they got treated like crap when they got home.

355. To answer your questions:

I have no plans on running for Congress. To do so used to be an honorable thing, but now it seems that politicians, both Republicans and Democrats, have lowered the position to that of a used-car salesman (no offense to used-car salesmen out there). People on both sides of the political spectrum blindly follow whoever it is that they think can help make their own star shine brighter- they don't question, and they don't think for themselves. They need to ask themselves if what they are doing and what they are voting on is what is best for not only their constituents, but Americans in general as well, which leads me to the next question...

Do I think the war with Iraq is justified....

Afghanistan? Yes. Iraq? No. The war with Iraq detracted from the original mission, which was outsting al-Queda and the Taliban in Afghanistan for retribution for 9/11, and to find Osama bin Laden. Osama bin Laden still has not been found...neither dead nor alive. It has already been shown that there were no Saddam Hussein/bin Laden links, which should come as no surprise because Hussein is a secularist, and bin Laden is a radical Islamist. It'd be like Elton John and Pat Robertson joining forces (although stranger bedfellows have occured). No weapons of mass destruction have been found, unless you call the massive amounts of pigeon poo found in the bunker where you stored your extra ammunition WMD.....then, heck yeah, they had a ton of it! (I'm convinced I'm gonna get a disease from that stuff down the road....yuck!).

As for the "coward" part:

I've noticed that there are people (Rep. Schmidt from Ohio being one of them) who call vets that question or contradict the Administraton's stance on this war, "cowards", or other things- traitors, losers, or worse. I, for one, do not agree with anything this administration says or does concerning this war. So I guess this makes me a "coward". I'm pretty sure, eventually, someone would have called me that, just because they wouldn't have had anything intelligent to say.

Now, yes, I am a newbie to the site (thanks for noticing). TV stinks, and I get tired of people my age-
20 and 30 year olds- caring more about what greasy Britney Spears' baby looks like (insulting mommy, not baby) than what's really going on in the world. It makes me sick. I've lived out of the country for 3 years, and I am in reverse culture-shock, because the America I left is not the same America I came home to. Figured a little discourse in society and politics might cheer me up.

That being said, I have noticed (by reading all of the posts) that there are a few people here who, when they are asked a question/or questions, never really answer them. They either avoid answering completely, or give answers that are really just opinions, but try to pass those opinions off as truth/fact. Answer with legitimate facts, please. If not, you insult my intelligence and highlight your lack of it.

Look forward to further debate and any questions you guys might have about Iraq...like how hot it was...LOL..
