The new Iraq.

The new Iraq.

“Human rights abuses in Iraq are now as bad as they were under Saddam Hussein and are even in danger of eclipsing his record, according to the country’s first Prime Minister after the fall of Saddam’s regime. ‘People are doing the same as [in] Saddam’s time and worse,’ Ayad Allawi told The Observer.”

    I think we can expect IRI and wwallace to get over there to lend a helping hand. They’re so brave!

    Ah…..the stench of progress. So glad to see we’ve made such a difference.

    When the Madness Began….

    If Strauss’ influence on politics in the capital of the most powerful nation on Earth was awesome in 1996, it is even more so today. The leading “Straussian” in the Bush Administration is Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, who was trained by Strauss’ alter-ego and fellow University of Chicago professor Allan Bloom. Wolfowitz leads the “war party” within the civilian bureaucracy at the Pentagon, and his own protégé, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, is Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff and chief national security aide, directing a super-hawkish “shadow national security council” out of the Old Executive Office Building, adjacent to the White House. According to Bloom biographer Saul Bellow, the day that President George H.W. Bush rejected Wolfowitz and Cheney’s demand that U.S. troops continue on to Baghdad, during Operation Desert Storm in 1991, Wolfowitz called Bloom on his private phone line to bitterly complain. It seems that “Bush 41″ was not enough of a Nietzschean “superman” for Wolfowitz’s taste.

    However, Strauss’ name may also prove to be a liability, particularly for those neo-conservative ideologues who are now attempting to steer President Bush into a no-win war in the Persian Gulf, in pursuit of an illusory world empire, and who are finding themselves under growing public attack.

    Allawi, who was a strong ally of the US-led coalition forces and was prime minister until this April, made his remarks as further hints emerged yesterday that President George Bush is planning to withdraw up to 40,000 US troops from the country next year, when Iraqi forces will be capable of taking over.

    Now, its Bushies Idea to Withdraw 40,000 troops?

    LOL, I guess next it’ll be MAnn Coulters Idea to Withdraw Troops and then she’ll go ranting about the Democratic Traitors that DIDNT want to draw down troops.
    Bush will likely also State something like “This was MY Plan all along” to try and save face.

    TOO LATE GEORGIE. IT WILL NOT WORK.
    .. And of course NOW the Faux Pundits will Agree with BUSH, Talk about Flip-Floppers! What Consumate Liars these Neo-cons are. Not an Original Thought in their Empty Heads.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    So where did the Neo-Cons get such screwed up Ideas on Plato?
    Ask Alan Bloom, Yet another Leo-Con,,,
    During 1968, he published his most significant work of philosophical translation, interpretation and contemplation – The Republic of Plato. According to the assessment of online bookseller Alibris, “it is the first translation of Plato’s Republic that attempts to be strictly literal, the volume has been long regarded as the closest and best English translation available.” Although the translation is far from universally accepted, Bloom strove to act as a matchmaker between readers and the texts he translated and interpreted.
    What we Have here, is a Group of Nietchezes Reinterpreting PLATOS works from 350 BCE, and Applying it to Fascist Right Wing Ideologies.
    ATV, I think we can expect wwallace and IRI to join in this thread with strawman arguments, insults, and claims that the Iraqi prime minister is a tool of Al Qaeda under their leader Bill Clinton the well known Jew Hating Islamicist thug.
    Z.
  6. Zwack says:
    By the way, in case anyone is confused by my previous post it is an attempt at satire. Unfortunately they probably will start claiming that thus making it no longer satire but a sad indictment of the depths some people will stoop to.
  7. Marie says:
    #5 AJ,
    Coulter has already said what you have predicted. She said that none of the Democrats in congress voted to remove the troops, and with that she challenged their sincerity and motivation.
    Of course, she failed to mention that it was because the Republican version of Murtha’s plan was a counterfeit, a rip-off, a misrepresentation, – and therefore was the reason it was so soundly rejected.
  8. Average TV Viewer says:
    Did someone say her name? Coulter?
    That fine bitch got me workin’!
  9. SpudgeBoy says:
    “because the Republican version of Murtha’s plan”
    Marie,
    Do not state it like that, as that is factually incorrect. House resoultion 571 was not a Republican version of Murtha’s plan. It was the Hunter plan through and through. It is nothing like what John Murtha proposed, therefore cannot be a version of his resolution.
  10. Marie says:
    Did anyone see Seymour Hersh’s interviewed on CNN today? I missed most of it, but I will seek the transcript later. I did see him comment about the insulation of Bush from reality, his belief that he is on a divine mission, his unwillingness to heed any advice to the contrary, and the impossibility of anyone with a different opinion to reach him, was chilling. Are we being led by the idiot, Alfred E. Neuman, or Nero, the deranged ruler of Rome.
  11. Marie says:
    Spudge, You are right — my phrasing left it to question — it was indeed a plan by Hunter from the start, and intended to put the Democrats on the spot.
  12. Average TV Viewer says:
    Most people saw that for what it was, Marie.
    My local Fox news conveyed the vote message incorrectly. I let them know about it.
  13. Average TV Viewer says:
    It does not matter. We live in a very different world now since Murtha did his thing. He put it on the table and it aint going anywhere.
  14. Marie says:
    It seems to be a consensus that Murtha, who is very close with the military, was actually speaking for them, as they are unable to be heard by their leaders in the Pentagon or their Commander in Chief.
    In his close association with the military, he was used as a conduit to get the message out in public.
  15. Susan says:
    Allawi? I’m surprised. He’s a murderer and Bushie lover.
    Allawi tried to kill Saddam Hussien and failed. Husseins men hunted him down and stabbed him repeatedly and left him for dead. He stayed in a hospital for 1 year recovering.
    Allawi is accused of personally shooting 6 people while he was interim Prime Minister.
    He can’t be trusted, he knows he won’t be elected to the Parliment and this TRUTHFUL statement he made is politics at its best.
    Too little, too late Allawi, you’re a criminal and you haven’t told us anything we didn’t already know. It’s nice that you admit it though.
  16. Mark Marco says:
    “….and the news gets worse for our president and theif. Ramsey Clark is now working with the Saddam the Benevolent to ensure our troops don’t get too excited about establishing the first Arab democracy in a billion years. Mr. Clark had no comment as he was busy getting ready for his flight to Venezuela to assist Hugo Chavez in his bid to “reduce” the hate language among his country’s journalists and detractors.
  17. Marie says:
    Susan, Allawi used Bush to topple Hussein, which was his goal, because he wanted the power.
  18. Ryan Neat says:
    So there was an arab democracy a billion years ago? Did you get that from the same bible that told you the earth was flat?
    While not ‘arab’, Iran did have a democracy until the CIA overthrew it to install the Shah (a dictator). American CONservatives have a long history of overthrowing democracies they don’t like – just like they’d love to do in venezuela right now… So your talking up democracy is just nonsense – that’s NOT why we’re there…
  19. Susan says:
    Agreed Marie, Bushie has been used so many times he can’t tell if he’s the catcher or the pitcher these days.
  20. Justin says:
    I think this deserves a full headline instead of being an aside.
  21. Mark Marco says:
    Ryan- You schooled me again, you little rascal!
    Susan- Your remarks are homo-phobic and anti-bathhouse!
    Justin- Your still in school, aren’t you?
  22. Justin says:
    Mark, you’re not using the word “your” right. And you ask me if I’m still in school?
    Anyone remember ‘Little Rat Rotten Hut’? One quote “Kip art, no trash passion, nor haunting nor fission”. Shows that the phonetic language in American English can drift from the written. Read Chaucer, read Paine – our written language is evolving.
    GENESIS CHAPTER 11
    ——————————————————————————–
    1 ¶ And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
  27. freedom is not free says:
    1 ¶ And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
    2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
    3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
    4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
    5 ¶ And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
    6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
    7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.
    8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
  28. Gregor Samsa says:
    In the New Iraq war crimes have been outsourced.
    “A ‘trophy’ video appearing to show security guards in Baghdad randomly shooting Iraqi civilians has sparked two investigations after it was posted on the internet”
    “The video has sparked concern that private security companies, which are not subject to any form of regulation either in Britain or in Iraq, could be responsible for the deaths of hundreds of innocent Iraqis.”
    “In one of the videoed attacks, a Mercedes is fired on at a distance of several hundred yards before it crashes in to a civilian taxi. In the last clip, a white civilian car is raked with machine gun fire as it approaches an unidentified security company vehicle. Bullets can be seen hitting the vehicle before it comes to a slow stop.”
