    Did anyone read the article???

I’m not supporting the Republicans in anyway, but the title is completely out of context.

“I know that John Murtha is an honorable man,” DeLay said during the briefing, adding that he did not know any details of the article. “He is a man of great integrity.”

  5. RemoveBush says:

oops my bag, I missed something bigtime. Someone slap me and call me stupid……

  9. denverite says:

    wwallace:

As far as i know, John Kerry never accepted $2.1 million in bribes. Also, I think ol’ Duke served well in Vietnam, he should have used his discipline and high moral fiber to block the greedy impulse to accept a bribe.

Smearing John Kerry was disgusting, people don’t forget that sort of thing. He served honorably, and I am proud of him.

Finally, I hope you and your ilk enjoyed the power while you had it. You will soon be relegated to the margins where you belong.

    So long.

  10. Pete Bogs says:

there’s nothing shocking here… to DeLay Duke IS a hero… and if we’re going to say Hanoi Kerry than we should also say Draft Dodger Bush… you guys gave Clinton all kinds of hell for “dodging” military service…

  11. True Blue says:

Bill Clinton dodged the draft because of his principles. Bill Clinton has made no apologies for his actions. He didn’t ask his daddy to hide him in the National Guard. George didn’t avoid the war to make a statement, he avoided it to save is sorry ass.

You support murderous criminals, and you know it. Either you are a bad person or a stupid person. I would believe either.

  31. wwallace says:

Cheney received legal deferments. Clinton dodged and lied about it.

  36. Ryan Neat says:

Hehe, republicans consider draft dodgers honorable, and men who serve dishonorable. They consider honest men weak, and thieves as honorable.

Republicans (aka whacko wallace and company) are psychotic lying cheating fools. They aren’t even americans, they’re neocon nazi traitors.

  37. GoBlue says:

    Clinton’s Draft Deferrment
In the autumn of 1969, Clinton entered the draft but received a high number (311) and was never called to serve — however, Clinton made every effort to avoid the draft prior to entering it.

First, Bill Clinton received education deferments while at Georgetown and Oxford (where he helped organize demonstrations against the war). Second, Clinton attempted to avoid the draft for four years by enrolling, but never joining, the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). Clinton had enrolled in the ROTC hoping to avoid military service for four years, but, wanting a future in politics, had a change of heart and entered the draft.

In December 1969, safe from the draft with his high lottery number, Clinton changed his mind about joining the ROTC program and wrote a letter to the director of the ROTC program thanking him “for saving me from the draft” and regretted misleading him by not revealing the extent of his opposition to the war. The letter was leaked by the Pentagon to ABC news early in the 1992 fueled criticism of candidate Clinton’s character.

Later in the 1992 campaign, it became known that Clinton’s uncle had attempted to get Bill Clinton a Navy Reserve assignment during the Vietnam war. Clinton said he didn’t know anything about it to the press on September 3, 1992 but a day later admitted that a former draft board member had informed him of his uncles’ attempt several months before.

  38. denverite says:

Personally, I think your “sticks and stones” attitude is quite refreshing. I’m not sure you can appreciate the irony, being a conservative and all. But trust us, you are very funny. You obviously came in here to antagonize people and start arguments. You know what buttons to push with us, then you are completely appaled when someone points out that you are a complete tool. But I can dig it, if any right wing blogs had the balls to offer unregistered posting I would be there too.

But it’s not too late. Quit pulling on your pecker, put your pants on, locate a library. Pick up a book, at this point it doesn’t even matter which one. The quicker you start reading and expanding your mind, the quicker you will see the light. I know it’s HARD to live in a fantasy world, having to argue with your lying eyes all the time. But give it time, and before you know it, you’ll be demanding an abortion.

  39. WaltTheMan says:

When will someone realize that bringing up any semblance of Bill Clinton’s record will cleanse these chickens of blame and malfeasance? These traitors have no honor and no heart!

  40. wwallace says:

Democrat neo-nazis like Ryan consider draft dodgers like Clinton honorable, and men who serve like Bush dishonorable.

All the juvenile name-calling will never change the fact that Clinton dodged and lied about it, and Bush served in the US military.

    Comment by wwallace ”

Patriotism? You believe the patriotism of a man who ADMITTED to accepting bribes for political favors is even related to patriotism? This topic is related to his lack of integrity – his patriotism isn’t even being discussed.

You keep saying you post ‘facts’, but how is a propaganda misdirect away from the FACT that the man ADMITTED and was CHARGED with several felonies a ‘fact’? Or even relevant?

It’s not. You are technically correct that nothing can change the ‘facts’ that you’ve posted, because you haven’t posted any ‘facts’ and thereby changing nothing to something according to einstein’s theory of relativity isn’t possible :()

  56. Ryan Neat says:

    wwallace = republican MISSdirect.

Please capitalize the U and the S. Thanks, a patriot.

  58. Ryan Neat says:

Wait, isn’t this the SAME tom delay that’s already been whacked 3 times for ethics violations, and who has been CRIMINALLY INDICTED himself? And who’s being investigated for his OWN corruption and bribery charges related to abramoff?

Yeah, it’s the same crooked republican fool (i know that term is redundant)…

  59. Ryan Neat says:

    Walt,

i’m often bad about capitalization and spelling. I type too fast and rarely proof read – bad habit. it’s nothing personal, and it’s not a ’statement’ or ‘protest’… it’s just overly hurried typing…

    Comment by wwallace — November 28, 2005 @ 9:11 pm

    wwallace,

You may not have read the article in this or the other threads, but the issue here is a man who -while purporting to represent his countrymen- took bribes and evaded taxes. He was investigated, charged, he has admitted to it, and plead guilty.

Are you saying a Congressman who accepts bribes is a fine example of patriotism?

  63. WaltTheMan says:

OK Ryan, that’s a wrap. I only wonder what is going to be announced on mitwochtag. Eine neu Reich?

  64. Ryan Neat says:

    Gregor,

Unfortunately that’s as ‘fine’ as they get in the world of republicans…

  65. Matt O. says:

Tom DeLay saying that Duke Cunningham is a “hero… honorable man of high integrity” really shows the skewed mentality he has.

Just one crooked politician talking about another.

  66. Innocent Bystander says:

wwallace….you are a good little beta-monkey. You make us all laugh. Here, have a vitual banana on me -> (

  67. mparker says:

I met a drunk in a bar called the Side Door in NJ. He told me Bush was a war hero who flew combat missions in Viet Nam. I told him the truth. Bush was handed a position in the National Guards “Champaign” unit but stopped showing up. Bush never saw combat ever and The guys in his unit didn’t remember any George Bush. He was AWOL. The drunk got so upset he fell off his stool. How’s the head Wally?

  68. tomz says:

    Figures…only a drunk would believe Bush’s bullshit

  69. tomz says:

Wallace is here to create distraction from the real issues. Ignore him. He does the same thing on Americablog.

Yes Bush was AWOL – and if you think it’s a lie Wally, then WE MUST BE REPUBLICANS, right? They are, after all the biggest liars in politics today.

  70. Joe Sixpack says:

Well, I know for sure Duke Cunningham is real war hero. I just did a search on Rush Limbaugh’s site and found proof. Cunningham was attacking John Kerry’s medals and honor, while Cunningham reminded the listening audience repeatedly about himself and how he had “two silver stars” and had “been nominated for the Medal of Honor which was downgraded to the Navey Cross.”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but what has all that got to do with him today being a sleazy, crooked criminal? Lots of highly decorated vets are in the pen today for criminal activies. I mean, if he was black, or poor white and stole a couple of hundred bucks, his sleazy ass would already be in jail. Along with that Texas-sized puke, Tom DeLay.

  71. progressive and proud says:

Too bad for him all of his service to this country went up in smoke when he entered the slimepit that is republicanism. The rules of the game are different for them. He sure destroyed himself – very ugly indeed.

  72. Susan says:

Delay and Cunningham can fight over who gets to wash out Bubba’s undies.

  73. Susan says:

Bushie is out campaigning for these scumbag types.

Who said he could use taxpayer dollars to campaign for criminals?

Impeach Bush and Cheney, give me my money back.

  74. Pablo in Mexico says:

The reason DeLays remarks made about Cunningham in June 2005 are relevant is the fact that it was well known in house circles at that time that Cunningham was being investigated and that investigators had proof of his taking over 2.4 million in bribes, etc.

After this was a known fact, DeLay made his statement about Cunningham being a person of integrity. DeLay is, and was, proud of the fact that a member of his party, and a member of congress, could take a defense contractor for that amount of money.

In the twisted mind of Tom DeLay, this was a feather in the cap of Cunningham.

  75. progressive and proud says:

Ah yes, Pablo, the “Hammer” indeed.

First Wwally, Duhbya was placed into the ‘Champagne unit’, With other Notables such as Dallas Cowboys or other such ‘Stars’. A wussy unit that WOULD never see Combat, and such is Why DUHBya was placed their training in outdated Jets, which BTW, with Poppies Help, he jumped over many other Waiting on the list, I guess to you thats Fair. So if you were in this LINE Ww, Bush would have leapfrogged you, simply because of Name.
And you would stand their and take it?

Now, How long did Bush sign up for?
    6 years?
Did he finish this 6 year duty?
    NO.

I dont much care about the AWOL issue, Ww, the point here is that BUSH did not go thru with his committment. When it became convenient for him, again thru Poppies assistance, to attend Harvard, He bailed out on his committment to his country, for self gain.

    Did Clinton get a Deferment?
Many did. But here again you wrongly assume that because the Site says progressive, its all democrats and liberals here, YOU are quite Wrong in your asessments Wwallace.

Now you can keep trying to rehash old events to support a Dying presi-densie, but it shall afford you naught. The Accumulated shannanigans and corruption of the Lie-o-Con and their tyes to the Likud Trotskyites will be their own undoings.
Make no Mistake here O’ foolish one, the Democratic and the Republican corruption will also come under FIRE.
The first step is to remove the Neo-CONs

Do you WANT to remove CORRUPTION Wwallace?
    Yes or NO?

If NO, then Perhaps you should purchase your ticket to Israel Ww. and follow your Insane Leader and his band of Rott Commies to his so called “Kingdom”

If Yes, Welcome aboard, Just remember this ship runs on corruption removal and not Political favoritisms.

And no Im not Anti-semitic, I am anti-edomite! –Aj

And when the Corruption is removed Wwallace, I shall only be too happy to spear your dark soul thru and thru with words barbed in truth.

    Good One A_Angel

Actually Delay, to me, looks more like a Used Car Salesman grinning stupidly cause he just sold the lot to some Sap.

What gets me is some people think Delay or Rove are Brilliant.

    My View;
It does not take Intelligence to be a Crook, it takes far more Intelligence and Intestinal fortitude to NOT accept money in return for favors, to NOT accept material things designed to Corrupt and Curry Favor.

  81. Wayne A. Schneider says:

#85 I absolutely agree with that, AJ. It’s hard to be an honest politician in Washington these days because corruption is so rampant on both sides of the aisle. It’s hard to watch your colleagues getting sweet deals and to ignore the corruptors when they say, “C’mon, everybody does it. It’s how things work down here.” They teach freshman to “go along to get along”, and if some young, upstart maverick tries to come in and ruin everybody’s good deal, they find it hard to get any good accomplished for their constituents back home. (I mean real good, not just good things for corrupt businessmen.)

Power corrupts and that’s usually been one of the arguments in favor of term limits. I do not favor term limits because it just makes it easier for citizens to ignore their civic duty and to go vote. If there are term limits, people just figure they can wait out the bad politicians and the law will remove them for them. Also, some people don’t like to register to vote because in some states, that’s how they start nailing you for jury duty. (It’s how I got my very first jury duty call.) Perhaps if they offered an additional tax rebate for all who go to the polls to vote, we might get better voter turnout and fewer sleazy politicans. Maybe that’s just me.

“HOW DARE YOU QUESTION THE PATRIOTISM OF A VIETNAM VETERAN, YOU BIGOTS!!!”

“John Kerry smeared the men he served with. That was disgusting.”
    Both by WW

The smell you’re experiencing WW is the product of your own stench that you’ve been wallowing in. You have no mirrors around you because it is beyond you to be human enough to see that you are a perfect practitioner of that which you so bitterly accuse others of doing. You are a very sorry excuse for human integrity, dignity, honesty, and humility. You are a shining example of the extreme christian right that is incapable of exercising authentic christian concepts and paradigms.

You exhibit the very fascism you purport to despise. You are the epitomy of hypocricy. You are actually quite fortunate that there are those who actually interact with you even if it is strictly in argumentation, otherwise you would be a very lonely person. But that is why you’re here, isn’t it? Because this is the only place you, IRI, MA, and such can receive any measurable attention. You basque in the glow that you can make others as angry as yourself.

You have no desire to see improvement in anything, beginning with yourself. You thoroughly enjoy destroying anything of value, no matter how remote it is. You gain pleasure in pain, conflict, and demoralization. You succumb to the most darkest of human nature and are only satisfied when you drag others down to your level. You see self contradiction as a powerful tool especially when it’s accompanied with self denial. You bring little, if any, beneficial ideas and thoughts to any conversation because you are too preoccupied with denigrating others. Your primary purpose is to deflect interaction from the topic at hand so that all of the attention is diverted directly onto you. That is the one thing that you do well.

  84. JIMBO says:

I hope wwallace caught a clip of “Duke’s” resignation
on tv and the fact that “Duke” was crying near the end was so freakin’ hilarious. A war veteran can cry over a fallen comrade or a child who was a victim of war, but when “Duke” cries over his own self-serving stupidity, that is so unpatriotic.

He even disgraces the name “Duke.” To me, the true Duke is a man named Edward Kennedy Ellington. Cunningham should apologise for stealing Mr. Ellington’s nickname and dirtying it up.

I can’t wait to hear if he cried in prison. I hope he watched OZ. :()

  85. JIMBO says:

Remember the scene in “Unforgiven” when Gene Hackman
beats up and jails Richard Harris and reads a bio of Harris’ character nicknamed the Duke of Death.

Hackman called him “The DUCK of Death.”

DUCK Cunningham. That should be his new name.

  86. wwallace says:

Gregor, #66: Your obvious problem is an inability to recognize mockery. I haven’t said one word in defense of Cunningham.
