“‘Between the year 2000 and June of 2005 in our district, you conspired to accept bribes in exchange for performance of official duties. Did you do that?’ Judge Burns asked Cunningham. ‘Yes, your honor,’ Cunningham replied.” (Via TPM)
At least this didn’t take too long.
Evidence must have been very strong.
It seemed like particulary bald-faced bribery,
but you never know these days whether an
expensive enough lawyer can get a crooked
conservative off the hook.
It’s not always about the most expensive lawyer, I think. Federal District Attorneys are some of the most well qualified in the country. Fitz is one of them. Expensive lawyers are more effective in state courts, where the prosecutors generally have fewer credentials. It’s all relative.
The Dems better not let this one go — every day, repeat the “culture of corruption” is the republican party. If this was a dem, you’d better believe his party would be the third part of his name in every article written.
Cunningham is only one of the many involved in corruption in this government. I know dems have done their share too, but the republicans never let them forget it, so too, should the dems now that the tables are turned.
Add this to Abramoff and the Plame leak story, stir in a few other less well-known scandals and bake that cake.
Another bites the dust.
November 28th, 2005 at 1:58 pmOne story on the web says this guy has almost come to blows with Democrats who challenge him.
November 28th, 2005 at 1:59 pmDoes this guy have a mugshot too?
They have enough mugshots now for a Hollywood Squares shot of the Republican Party.
Most Corrupt Leaders Ever.

November 28th, 2005 at 2:00 pmwapo report on the duksters plea omits his party affiliation! Do ya think it would have been omitted if he were a dem?

#4!!!!! Exactly! I had to search the web to make sure he was a Republican. It was left out of the Yahoo report as well.

Ohhh, SNAP!
November 28th, 2005 at 2:02 pm#3 – yes, that, or a Brady Bunch-style Rogues Gallery…

More proof that Republicans are criminals. And this one admits it.
November 28th, 2005 at 2:17 pmAP is saying it was $2.4 MILLION in bribes that Cunningham took.
Which of the Greedy ‘Ol Parasites is next? Line forms to the rear. Thank you.
November 28th, 2005 at 2:19 pmRepublican corruption? No, that can be true. This must be another error in reporting by the elitest liberal media.

November 28th, 2005 at 2:24 pmWhere are the trolls to say that Cunningham didn’t do it? Where are they saying that only Democrats lie? Why aren’t they supporting one of their own?
It sure is looking like they should have left that blow job alone.
November 28th, 2005 at 2:30 pmI long for the good old days when all I had to worry about was whether an intern was gettin’ some.
November 28th, 2005 at 2:39 pm#14 – Good points.
The trolls and GOP will try to punish a guy for getting a blow job and enjoying his cigar…
… but they’ll support (encourage?) killing, torture, bribing, lying, greed, and drug addiction. Terminally wierd crowd the GOP is.
November 28th, 2005 at 3:50 pmAnother Banana Republican bites the dust.
November 28th, 2005 at 4:46 pmThe fog/smog in America is finally clearing. We can finally call this place we call home America again.
Justice lives, America lives.
More work to do, Impeach Bush and Cheney.
Clear skies ahead.
