This article “Timing cited as factor in Democrats’ vote for war” by Ronald Brownstein and Emma Vaughn is worrisome. The issue is whether the decision for military action against Iraq was influenced by the 2002 election. Daschle asked both President Bush and Vice-President Cheney to delay the vote for war after the election, not to politicizing it. Whether Bush or Cheney just nod and padded Daschle’s head and said no to him isn’t so important to me than the Bush/Cheney’s true intention for pursing the war: their desire to conquer Iraq was from the inception of the Bush Presidency in 2001. Allowing Congress just one night to review NIE on Iraq, 10 days before the vote the Bush administration at the same time forced the war vote on the Democrats, challenging their patriotism by limiting reflection and open debate. In short, any member who question the war before the election were accused of being soft on Hussein or providing aid and comfort to the 9/11 terrorists. This is more truthful than what Daschle said: “Given the circumstance…that we were responding to 9/11…all the urgency was created and cajoling by the administration.” Yeah, right.

Really? Because the latest polls show that only 34% of americans approve of the president and that a MAJORITY of americans want the democrats in charge of both houses of congress. Clearly you’re receiving your messages from those talking voices again, because you don’t live in reality MizzWrong!

This- “fighting a half-assed war”- is EXACTLY why we never should have gone to war with Iraq in the first place. When attacking an opponent (or victim) that has done nothing to deserve such an attack, one tends to reserve one’s ferocity due to a lack of all out passion and commitment to “kill” the target. Dropping bombs on and attacking villages in Afghanistan was tough enough (as justifiable …or not as it may/may not have been), but doing the same to the innocents of Iraq was totally unjustified- hence no overwhelming force (a’la the Powell Doctrine), and a quagmire is born.

Yes, people do die in war, which is why no country should engage in it unless it is absolutely justified in its committment to being as ruthless as necessary to avenge its rationale for perpetrating such a harsh act- and accomplishing its mission.

danny boy you’re a sick individual if you “truly” believe Bush-Cheney are/were justified in committing our troops to Iraq. this ain’t politics as usual!
