Busheviks and their ilk have merely perfected the art of doublespeak:

1 : any language that pretends to communicate but actually does not
2 : Deliberately ambiguous or evasive language

  2. SpudgeBoy says:

    Even better is the poll:

How has Bush’s speech affected your opinion of the U.S.’ Iraq strategy?

    There’s been no change 45%
    My opinion has lowered 31%
    My opinion has improved 24%

Do you think the U.S. will ultimately achieve victory in Iraq?

    No 65%
    Yes 35%

  3. Zookeeper says:

Just because Georgie calls it a MAJOR SPEECH, doesn’t mean it is.

  4. SpudgeBoy says:

“Bush’s speech did not break new ground or present a new strategy. Instead, it was intended to bring together in one place the administration’s arguments for the war and explain its strategy on a military, economic and political track.”

Of course it didn’t break new ground, it is from the Bush administartion.

We already know the Bush administrations flawed arguement for wanting to go to war in Iraq. It’s because Osama is in Pakistan.

There is no lilitary stratgey, only a PR plan.

The Iraqi ecomnoy has been destroyed.

The Iraqis don’t want our flavor of democracy.

  5. SpudgeBoy says:

“We will stay as long as necessary to complete the mission. If our military leaders there tell us we need more troops, I will send them.”

Tell that to General Shinseki who told us from the get go that we would need several hundred thousand troops to complete this mission succesfully.

  6. hardass says:

What did they expect , The stock market is again down to day , same as before …. down after every Bush’s speech .

  7. SpudgeBoy says:

“It is not realistic to expect a fully functioning democracy, able to defeat its enemies and peacefully reconcile generational grievances, to be in place less than three years after Saddam (Hussein) was finally removed from power,”

You can’t expect anything for a country of people that did not before and do not now want to stand up for themselves.

When I was in the US Army, It only took 2 months of basic training and 2 months of AIT and I was considered “battle ready” What the hell is taking so long to train these guys.

  8. danny k says:

The AP is a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party. I would expect nothing less from them.

  9. Ryan Neat says:

    danny, you’re a retard

The AP is very conservative, as is it’s coverage. For instance it was weeks before they covered the downing street memo, and as a result NO one covered it until they finally broke the story.

Even your own NeoCon Nazi Kristol has said that there really is no left wing national media.

The fact that you can be so stupid in light of omissions from your own party is just the sort of retarded response I would expect from an ignorant republican.

However, there was a VERY interesting story today about how Time Warner’s CEO forcibly gagged reporters from covering stories about scalia.

Funny how you have all of these unproven delusions about a liberal media, and there is PROOF that media is corporate owned and controlled.

  10. afterthought says:

    #8,

    Ha, that’s funny.
Do you say that anytime someone disagrees
with your zeros… I mean heros.

  11. danny k says:

Ryan – your comment says alot ‘NeoCon Nazi Kristol’. I don’t think you’re qualified to make objective judgements about the AP or any news organizaiton for that matter. You are obviously not dealing with a full deck.

  12. Terrytheturtle says:

So Danny, what are the voices in your head then?

  13. SpudgeBoy says:

“The AP is a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party. I would expect nothing less from them.”

If that’s what you think, I got a bridge I wanna sell you.

That is like me saying Fox is a muth piece for the Democrats. It just isn’t true and it shows what an idiot you are.

Besides, most of what I have addressed here are quote from Bush himself.

    Owned again.

  14. Santos says:

    Danny,

re:Your #11 – The only cards he left out of his deck were the jokers.

Thanks, I’ll be here all week… no applause, just money…

  15. SpudgeBoy says:

    #11

“I don’t think you’re qualified to make objective judgements about the AP or any news organizaiton for that matter.”

Well, considering I am a PR person who works with the Associated Press. I can tell you they are NOT liberal.

  16. Terrytheturtle says:

Quick example for you: a few weeks ago I was sitting in Houston airport in the Fox Sports Bar in Terminal E, and I saw the ticker headline: “Woodward says Libby did not reveal CIA agent Plame”. Now from that you might conclude that Bob Woodward’s quote supported Libby’s innocence across the board. However, the full quote was “Woodward says Libby did not reveal CIA agent Plame TO THE WASHINGTON POST” according to CNN. It is that easy….

  17. danny k says:

#15 – The AP is an echo chamber for Democrats. At least conservatives admit Fox is right-wing. Denial does not help your cause.

  18. afterthought says:

    #17,

You are clearly brainwashed by Faux News.
You can probably sell this lie at PowerLie,
    but here we know better.

  19. p o l i t i c a l - c a b a r e t says:

    Over The Cliff

More of the same, nothing new. Yes people… remember you, the American people handed the keys over to a twelve yr old & by gawd, he’s gonna take all of us over the cliff with him. Sigh….

  20. SpudgeBoy says:

    #17

    No it is not dipshit.

  21. IraqVet says:

    Careful Spudge…

Danny is typical of those who have no substance or understanding of the full facts, regardless of their COWARDICE to hide behind pledges of allegiance to their party but offer NO SUPPORT to their causes or battles…

This makes them both weak and ignorant to the reality of the situation confronting those on the front lines, and the ONLY recourse is to attempt to discredit others (in hopes) of justifying their dispassionate failures in life and their undying support of a FOOL!

Did ANYONE here expect anything more from Bush? I mean c’mon…

He DODGED the draft and ran to daddy to fix his records…

He FLUNKED college and had daddy make a BIG grant to get a “C” to graduate…

He FAILED at ownership of the Texas Rangers and other business ventures…

He CORRUPTED the Texas government, and it still hasn’t recovered…

    And…

He has the WORST numbers of a lame-duck President in the HISTORY of America…

    So, tell me…

What do we expect from FAILURE and INCOMPETANCE???

  22. afterthought says:

    BTW danny,

Why do you suppose the AP story “forgot”
to state that “Duke” Cunningham was a
    Replublican until people protested the
omission? That was just this week.

  23. Terrytheturtle says:

#17 Now you are being funny. Fox News: http://www.foxnews.com Take a look in the top left hand corner – near the big Foxnews logo. OK got that?

Now see if you can read this…there are some big words, ask questions if you have trouble:
    http://www.slate.com/id/2119864/

So which is it Danny: ‘Fair and Balanced’ or Right Wing? What do you call someone who says one thing and then does the other…? Another big word, take your time..

  24. Terrytheturtle says:

  25. Ryan Neat says:

    afterthought,

The media does that all of the time. I’m constantly having to look up party affiliation when I see it not listed, and to my ’surprise’ it’s consistently republicans who don’t get their party listed with the story…

It’s yet another tactic of the corporate media to try to make lemonade of their party of lemons.

  26. gun toting liberal says:

You guys sound so sexy when you’re mad!

I don’t feel sorry for anyone, certainly not Republicans, who generally get what they deserve when they finally fall from grace, a la Nixon, DeLay, Cunningham… but all this name calling by the loyal opposition only helps muddy the real differences between liberals and conservatives; one of which has always been, to my mind, a greater willingness on the right to smear reputations, insult the opponent’s integrity and character, and hurl vile epithets.

Apparently that is not so at this forum. Lefties hurling names and insults seems ubiquitous. You sound as bigoted and intolerant as we know the Rightwingers are.

What I want to hear is more people on the Left expressing disagreement, anger, and mockery toward the Right with quiet, enormous force of logic and the facts that back them up. We will gain better traction if we DON’T get down in the mud with them.

Instead, let’s tell them how much we love them and that they FEEL BETTER SOON – because rage is quite unhealthy, after all.

Come see how it’s done at the Gun Toting Liberal.

  27. SpudgeBoy says:

“Apparently that is not so at this forum. Lefties hurling names and insults seems ubiquitous. You sound as bigoted and intolerant as we know the Rightwingers are.”

Yes, because they have been using this tactic for way to long and it has worked. John Kerry let the lying swiftboaters get away with it and it cost him the election.

  28. Seefleur says:

SpudgeBoy – and here I was going to ask about the 24% in the poll who have had their opinion raised by the speech (comment #2). But never mind, “Danny” is obviously one of that percentage. Sigh…

  29. SpudgeBoy says:

    Seefleur,

This is the most important part:

Do you think the U.S. will ultimately achieve victory in Iraq?

    No 65%
    Yes 35%

  30. For Truth says:

    Danial,

If the media was truly liberal, they would have explored the all the 9/11 questions.

  31. olie says:

check out the poll- over 79,000 voting, numbers staying the same

  32. SpudgeBoy says:

Wow, 79k people have voted now and the numbers ar the same. Let’s put that in perspective.

79,000 is 263 times the amount of people that showed up for the pro-war rally.

79,000, but it is 1/3 the number of the people that showed up for the anti-war rally.

  33. hardass says:

Where can i vote ? i am in that column of 65% that says NO

  34. SpudgeBoy says:

    hardass,

Click the link for the article. There is a poll at the top of the page under the picture of Biggus Dickus.

    Zookeeper,

    Classic. Saved and filed.
