Oh, absolutely. My argument that getting worked up over how you would define a particular word is less important than examining the accuracy of information (like the breakdown of how many Iraqi batallions there were vs how many coalition batallions there were) was powerless against your use of the word “Doublespeak”. I mean, how can I argue with that kind of in-depth criticism?

And I’m sure that if you looked, you could find exact quotes in my post where I mentioned that anyone who disagreed with me was ignorant. I mean, the quotes you’d find would be more specifically along the lines of, say, “I mean, if you’re going to argue that there weren’t 11 Iraqi batallions, and that there were more than 5 coalition batallions, that’s one thing. But there was no attempt made to contradict this fact; they seem satisfied to let it stand.”

Or even:
“I think the answer can be found in the very first comment:

BushCo = Liars

Of course, and I don’t want to suggest something too insane, but it could be possible that I’m simply criticizing the approach taken by the blogger and some commentors here, rather than actually insulting anyone.

Agreed. They deserve a careful consideration and presentation of the facts, especially when someone is making an argument on behalf of their safety.

What they don’t deserve is to be used as an excuse to act superior to someone you disagree with.

I can understand telling me that I am mistaken. I can understanding thinking that my beliefs are dangerous and lead to people being needlessly killed. I would disagree on both counts, obviously, but I would love to talk to you about why you think that way, precisely because this is such an important subject and we do live in a democracy where my opinion will determine who I vote for.

And I want to try and understand as many perspectives as I can, though ultimately I will make a call, based on my own judgment, as to what I should believe.

I’m game for any discussion. But give me the self-righteous attacking on the strawman of me you’ve set up like you have been, and I’m afraid that all you’ll get from me is a chuckle–though I’m sure it won’t be hard for you to believe that that’s a chuckle at the thought of someone kicking a puppy, rather than a chuckle at your tendency to assume that my motivations are vile and dishonest without providing much evidence on that count.
