In a 1984 memo, Samuel Alito

By Nico Pitney on Dec 4th, 2005 at 7:18 am

In a 1984 memo, Samuel Alito

wrote that “he saw no constitutional problem with a police officer shooting and killing an unarmed teenager who was fleeing after a $10 home burglary. ‘I think the shooting [in this case] can be justified as reasonable.’” A year later, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that the shooting represented an “unreasonable seizure,” and used the case to “set a firm national rule against the routine use of ‘deadly force’ against fleeing suspects who pose no danger.”

He is not mainstream. The White House is on the verge of collapse.

Sounds like he hates young people. I’ll bet he has “shot” afew young boys in the back if you know what I mean. While their hands were on their ankles.

Mr Allito is a loose cannon ,and would be an extreme activist judge if elected to the supreme court and would have very little regards on ruled precedents cases .
The Republicans and Democrats would have failed in their judicial responsabilities if they let this individual on the court.

  4. Mary Poppin says:

If this man gets on the court we are all in trouble.

Now the Right Wing Religious Nuts are trying to say if you don’t like Sam Alito you are against God. This is absurd.

  5. im4mary says:

Please, Please, Impeach the Pres; even if Alito is rejected, Bush just gets another chance to choose someone else; Gonzales perhaps? I know that’s putting the cart before the horse, but geeeeeez, why is this country allowing this amoral man to continue to destroy us? Oh yeah, that’s right, Republican domination. I wonder if some ‘minority folks’ actually developed a concise platform to remove this yahoo that it would actually strengthen their chances to dominate the Congress in 2006. Or maybe that’s why they’re waiting; because if/when they do impeach, at least another Republican won’t take the temporary seat of President? Just musing.

Anybody else think Alito looks like Johnny Blue Jeans from Viva Variety?

JUSTICE CONCEIVED by Samuel Alito in his “shoot to kill, it’s cool“ memo point out some serious, disturbing trends in America today. We have a hard time facing whether we are for punishment of the crime, the improvement of

    #1 ATV says it all.

  9. Marie says:

If Alito is not filibustered and gets in the Court, we are all in deep trouble. The man is obviously a power freak. We already know he is against women’s rights, and now we know he would uphold police brutality.
Kind of fits in with the Bushies – they use the force of their office to promote their love of authority, power and torture.

When are we going to come to our senses and stop appointing these people for life?

  11. Hyades says:

#10: Actually, appointment for life is the safest way – the last thing we need are judges that must abide their political masters. The problem comes in when the president nominates someone who is waaay outside the mainstream, like Alito. A Supreme Court justice has a lot of power, and the thought that Alito will wield it like a scythe through our rights is downright terrifying.

Appointment for life is fine, just make sure that the one appointed isn’t friggin’ nuts.

  12. GorGon Senior says:

There are four entities who represent the most dangerous enemies to American liberties since George III.

    They are:

    1. The Neocons or Likudists who owe their personal allegiance to another country and now completely control our foreign policy. They lied and deceived us into the Iraq war and are demanding that more and more American soldiers die to preserve their own country and ideals.

    2. The Christian Evangelical right who is trying to force the United States into becoming a theocracy under their rule. They know in their hearts that they alone can restructure a secular humanist America into their idea of Heaven on Earth.

    3. An element of American society that call themselves Patriots and are obsessively militaristic and great admirers of the corporate or fascistic state. Many of these have been very minor members of the American military and as a counterbalance to their reserve or rear area tours of duty, are rabidly in favor of draconian military action, the bloodier the better. Usually these drumbeaters are too old, or too fat, to fight and have no sons of draft age.

    4. George W. Bush, who is the worst president in the history of the United States and directly responsible for the huge death tolls in Iraq, is determined to rule the United States until God puts a stop to him and is even more determined to force the American people into becoming obedient, Christian and self-sacrificing lemmings who worship at his shrine and march in step.
