Lieberman yesterday: “It is time for Democrats who distrust President Bush to acknowledge that he will be commander in chief for three more critical years and that in matters of war we undermine presidential credibility at our nation’s peril.” Murtha today: “Undermining his credibility? What has he said that would give him credibility?”

EXACTLY.
December 7th, 2005 at 2:37 pmWell, maybe 3 more years. Impeach.
December 7th, 2005 at 2:37 pmbrilliant.
December 7th, 2005 at 2:38 pmC’mon Jack-
Look at Lieberman’s experience with issues of war. He was even wounded and medaled for bravery….what? That wasn’t him, that was you? Oh, sorry.
Amazing that Joe doesn’t want us to diss a Republican pResident, but he was all for piling on Bill for a relatively minor transgression of lying about a personal matter under oath. Joe, wouldn’t you serve this country better as a Republican cheerleader rther than a psuedo-Democrat? Be honest with who and what you are, Joe…
December 7th, 2005 at 2:38 pmLieberman’s face looks like meat curtains.
December 7th, 2005 at 2:39 pmLieberman is the poster child for the soft Democrat.
December 7th, 2005 at 2:40 pmMurtha shoots and Scores!
It’s amazing how all of Bush’s self-inflicted failings somehow are “our” fault.
December 7th, 2005 at 2:40 pmContrast Murtha’s presentation with that of the President. Raw truth meets smooth doublespeak.
December 7th, 2005 at 2:41 pmBravo Jack!
Someone please show Lieberman the door.
December 7th, 2005 at 2:41 pmba-da-bing! thank you John Murtha. YOU are the Partiot!
Lieberman will join the [R]’s within the month and become the new SecDEF. We don’t want him.
December 7th, 2005 at 2:42 pmEverytime Lieberman opens his mouth lately, he sure makes
December 7th, 2005 at 2:42 pmLowell Weicker look pretty good.
Take the Poll.
December 7th, 2005 at 2:44 pmLieberman is clearly changing parties.
Murtha is clearly angry at McCain and Lieberman.
What psyche medications is McCain on again?
December 7th, 2005 at 2:46 pmSo when is the announcement that Lieberman is pulling a Zell Miller? I wonder if he will have some fiery exchange on television, too.
December 7th, 2005 at 2:50 pmIt is official:
JOSEPH LIEBERMAN IS A REPUBLICAN.
Is there a link to the Murtha comment?
December 7th, 2005 at 2:52 pmYEESS! John’s the man.
December 7th, 2005 at 2:54 pmExplain to me how fighting them over their is somehow going to physically prevent another band of Saudi Terrorist — like the majority on 9/11 — from entering this country by crossing our border with Mexico and blowing something up here? How does a war in the Middle East prevent persons with bad intentions from travelling legally or illegally to this country? How does it absolutely prevent this? We have military and CIA in how many countries? When we have a war in one area, we’re able to fight another war or conduct covert operations in other areas. How come this logic only works on Those People?
If you agree this is a really dumb concept, then is The Chimp lying, being stupid, or the most frequently cited response: he’s lying and he’s stupid.
December 7th, 2005 at 2:55 pmThe DLC should be booted from the democratic party. They’re poisonous and toxic waste masquerading as moderate politicians.
December 7th, 2005 at 3:13 pmI agree with you 100% Ryan. Whatever happened to liberal ideals and beliefs? I’m tired of the pandering to the Right.
December 7th, 2005 at 3:23 pmHow ’bout some positions DNC and Dean, rally the base and let’s go from there. a few suggestions:
Universal healthcare
Ending the “war” in Iraq
Capturing OBL
Reversing tax cuts for the uber rich
Rebuilding our cities infrastructures
More? you bet!
Damn. That sumbitch ain’t backing down, is he? Go get em Jack.
December 7th, 2005 at 3:25 pmMurtha’s quip’s a keeper; the kind of straight shooting, cut through the bullshit talk that makes Bush’s homey Texas twang come across like the spit from a two-bit car salesman.
It’s a gem and shows why this man who probably doesn’t want to be President should be President. Of course, the Dems as a bunch are too cowardly to do anything of the kind.
December 7th, 2005 at 3:30 pmThree more years? Who says? Impeach his sorry azz.
December 7th, 2005 at 3:33 pmMurtha takes no crap from anyone and yet Lieberman takes crap from the chickenhawks and asslicks them for it.
If Lieberman represented my District in my State, I’d move.
December 7th, 2005 at 3:44 pmThere’s got to be a real democrat challenging Lieberman in the primary when his next election comes up. That is if hasn’t turned republican by then.
December 7th, 2005 at 3:53 pmAnd if Sen Lieberman does end up becoming the new SecDef, the Republican governor of Connecticut will appoint a Republican in the Senate to take his seat, assuming that’s how Connecticut fills vacancies. Any CT residents here know the exact procedure? Special election only? Temp appointment until next House Race?
December 7th, 2005 at 4:02 pmI’m always a little concerned when I hear anyone speak of illegal immigrants and mention the Mexican border only. There are people crossing the Canadian border illegally, too. Why is there no discussion of a wall between the US and Canada? (I won’t speculate on the reason for this. And I don’t favor a wall on either border.)
December 7th, 2005 at 4:04 pmRush Limbaugh calls McCain a RINO (Republican In Name Only). If that’s true Lieberman is the leader of the DINOs.
Hey Joe - leave the “it’s treason to critize Bush” talk to to the other fascists. Oh, and thanks for helping keeping the dems divided. You really are a great patriot!
December 7th, 2005 at 4:09 pmMurtha reads blogs? Who knew?
-
December 7th, 2005 at 4:20 pmI do believe that Lieberman in up for re-election to the
December 7th, 2005 at 4:21 pmSenate next year.
You mean JUDAS LIEBERMAN?
December 7th, 2005 at 4:29 pmHe reminds me of Ray Walston from “My Favorite Martian”.
Remember that old show?
I just keep waiting for his antenna to pop up behind his head and see him disapear.
December 7th, 2005 at 4:31 pmMurtha, you can date my daughter, but just watch it!
December 7th, 2005 at 4:38 pmRay Walston from “My Favorite Martian†was fun to watch. Joe is not.
December 7th, 2005 at 4:38 pmMurtha for President?
December 7th, 2005 at 4:40 pmLeiberman’s assertion jibes with the theme that news reporters who actually are able to provide bits of factual information to the US people about the actual factual conduct of the war are committing treason, as Bill O’Reilly suggested earlier. The media must be combatants, he and his guest agree.
There’s a word for “news” that’s created by “combatants” to win approval for wars at home and to undermine the enemy abroad: it’s called PROPAGANDA.
I’ll make up my own mind what to think and believe, thank you very much, Bill. I can’t do that unless I know what my military is doing (in a nation governed by the people’s elected officials, the military is indeed ours, and we as citizens have to stand responsible for what that military does abroad in our name), who orders it done, and why, and get a look at at least some of the compelling evidence.
Unless Bill wants nother form of government… didn;t Bush pine for a dictatorship a few years back? No pesky reporters asking questions then… sound good to you, my friends on the Right?
This country needs a massive, comprehensive, mandatory CIVICS LESSON (which will never happen).
December 7th, 2005 at 4:43 pmMurtha took the words right out of my mouth. What, indeed, has George done or said that hasn’t undermined his own credibility?
Is it possible that Joe’s sole reason for carrying water for this administration is simply because he and Bush come from the same state?
December 7th, 2005 at 4:45 pmLeave it to another chickenshit to criticize a true veteran. Guess that’s what America wants and votes for - snot-nosed ribbonheads letting the military do the fighting. And they don’t respect their opinion or pay their medical bills when our veterans get maimed. Time to get nukular on Joe’s ass.
December 7th, 2005 at 4:53 pmGlad that Murtha is speaking back to Lieberman.
Lieberman thought it right to call Clinton out re his sexual escapades and dishonoring the office. This was probably correct (and much better than impeachment) or, at minimum, reasonable.
But, how can he not see that misleading the nation (being polite) about going to war … that the damage done re ethical standards in the government … the culture of corruption in the White House … the vicious partisan attacks … the incompetence of this (mal)Administration … are all so far worse than Clinton’s inability to keep his zipper up.
December 7th, 2005 at 5:02 pmEvery time Joe opens his mouth, he brings more traffic to my site:
http://www.dumpjoe.com
Please come and visit and sign up to the dumpjoe yahoo group. The sites been up since Febuary and has been cataloging GOP Joe’s rightward ways for months.
December 7th, 2005 at 5:16 pmIf wishy-washy Joe dont get that SecDef job, he will be out in the cold.
A poll shows Wiecker leading Libman by 84 - 14 percent. Good, I never did like libman anyway.
December 7th, 2005 at 5:30 pmThey keep telling themselves Bush has got 3 more years. As if repeating it over and over again, makes it true. Bush must be and will be impeached. Thank God for John Murtha, a true patriot and man of conscience who had the balls to speak out against Bush and his criminal administration, and who has not backed down, even though the Bush machine has leveled its guns at him with their usual smear campaign. Those who smear Murtha should be ashamed of themselves. This man actually served his country. Unlike Bush, who every day disserves his country. IMPEACH IMPEACH IMPEACH.
December 7th, 2005 at 6:03 pmLieberman has been exposed for the faux moralist that he is.
He is full of moral outrage over a president lying about sex and yet he has no outrage over a president who runs global torture chambers and tells lies to get the country into a war.
December 7th, 2005 at 6:18 pmJoe Lieberman sucks….Somebody PLEASE run!!! Come on LOWELL!!!!!!!!!
December 7th, 2005 at 6:18 pmI’m really surprised nobody is discussing the possibility that this is not about SecDef at all, but the chance that Lieberman is being lined up as a ‘national unity’ vice president if Cheney had to resign for ‘health reasons’.
I blogged about this a little just now. However, I might be completely wrong (indeed as a Brit I am probably missing something important).
December 7th, 2005 at 6:34 pmFor that matter, what has Lieberman said that would give him credibility?
December 7th, 2005 at 6:43 pmYour right EasyRider, but wouldn’t it be cool if they did pop up, and he disapeared?
Murtha should have kicked his butt.
December 7th, 2005 at 6:45 pmThis idiot democratic strategist is on Lou Dobbs telling everyone how Howard Dean is hurting the Dems and too far to the left.
Fine, if they don’t want him, let him run independent.
I’d vote for Dean.
Screw the lilly livered DEMS who like JUDAS Lieberman.
DEAN\NADER 2008
December 7th, 2005 at 6:48 pmUnlike that old loony Zell, Joementum would need to have a set in order to be capable of a fiery exchange with anyone… everytime i hear him talk i think of Willy from ALF
December 7th, 2005 at 6:56 pmpsst, Joe. I got you a hot deal on that real estate in the West Bank. Secure? Well, not just yet, but, hey that’s your job. What’s that? It’s not goin too good in Iraq? But you got the lawyers, guns and money. And Bush, you got him. Aww, don’t cry, Joe.
December 7th, 2005 at 7:42 pmTime to put Joe out to pasture. Who does he represent, the citizens of CT or the darkest elements of Isreal.
December 7th, 2005 at 7:51 pmOld Joe’s bid to play Arthur Vanderberg to Bush’s
December 7th, 2005 at 7:57 pmTruman is beyond silly.
Is there a link to the Murtha comment?
Comment by SpudgeBoy — December 7, 2005 @ 2:52 pm
here it is Spudgeboy, in the WaPo transcript:
longer quote:
MURTHA: Undermining his credibility? What has he said that would give him credibility?
He said there was Al Qaida connection. He said there was a connection with nuclear weapons. He said there’s biological, chemical weapons there. He said there’s progress now. I’m showing you that I don’t see the kind of progress he sees.
December 7th, 2005 at 8:12 pmJames, thanks for the link.
December 7th, 2005 at 8:24 pmMichael Houghton — Good idea about VP Joe, but my money’s still on Jeb.
December 7th, 2005 at 9:11 pmMurtha for President I say.
December 7th, 2005 at 9:52 pmLieberman needs to switch parties seeing he thinks Bush is all that and a bag of chips…..no Pork Rinds.
Murtha has it right. The Iraqi people need to stand on their own and get their feet wet running their Government as soon as these elections this month are over. We cant hold their hand forever and as for the insurgents, they will be there and everywhere in this world for many many yrs. to come. Are we suppose to plant ourselves in Iraq for 20 yrs. or more?
December 7th, 2005 at 11:41 pmLets get back to what our Military’s mission is really about……protecting us in OUR homeland.
Bush/Cheney/Rummy decided to take out Saddam……they did that. There were no WMD’s and Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11 so that Mission Accomplished banner should have been our exit sign. Instead it was just the beginning of Cheney and this administration getting a foot in the door in the Arab countries. They want our influence over there. They want a strong hold on the oil rich countries seeing Bush and Cheney are oil men through and through. They see BIG bucks in their future and refuse to let that dream go even as our troops die day after day there.
Its criminal that they use that “terrorism” ploy to cover their tracks.
The very last thing Buscho wants is for the Iraqis to successfully emerge from our occupation. As long as we keep a presence there, the agenda for the New America Century has a better chance of being realized. So, Bushco wants to screw things up so bad…we wil “have to stay”. That is their plan as I see it.
December 8th, 2005 at 12:37 amBush has been successful. He has taken a secular country ruled by a dictator who arrested and held people without due process, tortured and killed them, but where women had more rights than the other mid east countries and changed it to a country ruled by Islamic fundamentalist government who arrests people, holds them without due process and tortures and kills them. Where, under the presiding government, women are very concerned that they will lose their rights and be forced “under the veil” like many of the women in the rest of the mid east countries. They were promised freedom. The only freedom they have seen thus far is freedom from their limbs, lost through exploding bombs and artillery fire, freedom from their families who have been taken away to “detention camps” and freedom from life itself when they are killed during this war. There are many more freedoms that this war has brought such as freedom from their historical artifacts (stolen), freedom from clean water and electricity, freedom from employment, etc.
December 8th, 2005 at 10:30 amStarting with Bush’s “so called” election in 2000 and the 9/11 event that ALLOWED the 2000+deaths in this country (and the cover-up that followed) right up to today with the very extensive list of illegal and immoral activities by this administration, Bush and the rest of this administration should not be impeached……they should be IMPRISONED.
I may not be too popular for my comment but it’s important for me to express because it’s been on my mind for quite some time and with Lieberman jostling for the Secretary of Defense job if/when Rumsfeld resigns I’ve got too bring up what I see as a conflict of interest. Whether a Jew, Cuban, etc., people who vote based on America’s relationship with other countries should be ashamed. Lieberman is a conservative Jew and I could be wrong but my instinct tells me this war in Iraq has more to do with Israel than the United States. If that’s the case and I believe it to be he will do whatever is in his power to advance this war until he feels Israel is safe regardless of the number of body bags. Wondering if anyone else has thought the same.
December 8th, 2005 at 12:09 pmAs Willy on ALF, he was pathetically funny. Now Joe is merely pathetic.
December 8th, 2005 at 12:25 pmWHy didn’t the brouhahahaha surface in the public discourse 18 months ago, BEFORE the election?
In a word: Judith Miller.
Is that two words?
