And yet the unrepentant war supporters are heavily invested in Bush’s policy in Iraq which, when you take away the spin, is less a policy than just a series of delaying actions and denials of facts on the ground. They cannot face the fact that they have put us in a position where we have no good options. There will not be an Iraqi central government that is capable of overcoming the centrifugal forces tearing Iraq into ethnic and religious regions. To maintain the illusion of a central government requires the presence of large numbers of US troops to keep the Sunni and Shia civil war combatants from taking their fighting into the green zone. When we leave, whenever that is, the green zone and the central government will fall. Bush supporters delay hoping a miracle will happen so they don’t have to face the American people and explain why they got us into such a mess while many Bush opponents on the war are afraid they will be blamed for the catastrophe that is Iraq if they tell the truth about what is happening.
Diebold’s CEO (and close personal friend of bush) resigns because of fraud and insider trading. Anyone still believe the voting machines are honest, when clearly the CEO was not?
What needs to be asked of those close to 16,000 injured troops is how do they like the Rethuglican party now? Being maimed and a life ahead of them of continually lacking and losing VA benefits, thanks to a dullard president and uncaring administration, is part of the shame of this alleged war.
It’s not that our Douche-Bag-in-Chief, Uncle Dick and/or Uncle Rummy would ever sit down and listen to these people, let alone feel sympathy, but their opinions and stories need to be heard. I’m not asking or expecting the ‘liberal media’ to step up either, but how about a few Progressive voices for once coming to the forefront and getting these stories out there.
I know I feel safer, anyone?
December 13th, 2005 at 12:19 pmSo much safer, P&P, and sick, so sick.
December 13th, 2005 at 12:39 pmThe president said yesterday that even with what he knows now, he’ll do the same thing again. Sickening.

December 13th, 2005 at 12:58 pmBush defended Vice President Dick Cheney’s pre-war assertion that the United States would be welcomed in Iraq as liberators.
“I think we are welcomed,” he said. “But it was not a peaceful welcome.”
Pardon me? But you are either welcome or un-welcome in someone’s country? Now he’s saying we were both?
What an IDIOT!!!

December 13th, 2005 at 1:47 pmAccording to Bush, 30.000 irakis died.
Knowing the backgroud of lies of this president, I think I can say safely that the number is 10x larger, sadly.
December 13th, 2005 at 2:50 pm#5 IV, I had not heard that quote — the man is a total moron.
December 13th, 2005 at 2:52 pmI’d laugh if the truth weren’t so awful.
Some of The Independent’s numbers are suspsect, or phrased so clumsily as to be laughable. I wouldn’t want to be the one defending these numbers.
“53,470: Iraqi insurgents killed”
Where the hell did this number come from?
“47: per cent Iraqis who never have enough electricity”
I might (sarcastically) suggest that the same ratio applies in the U.S. Some people just never seem to have enough electricity.
“20: casualties per month from unexploded mines”
I think the unexploded ones have been relatively harmless, so far.
