For months, the White House has refused to comment on anything related to Patrick Fitzgerald’s investigation, saying it’s their policy not to comment on criminal proceedings while they’re ongoing. Then, on Wednesday, Bush commented on Tom DeLay’s ongoing criminal prosecution, telling Brit Hume that DeLay was innocent.
White House spokesman Scott McClellan explained that didn’t violated the policy because there was a “presidential prerogative†exemption. Watch our 80s-inspired musical tribute:
hmmm…
December 17th, 2005 at 9:32 amWhat would Whitney Houston say?
December 17th, 2005 at 9:37 amThink Progress is the first Blog I read in the morning. the one I check out during the day and the last one I read at night. It is the best IMO. But please, please get rid of Quicktime. It takes forever to load. Real Player or Windows Media Player are much better. Please consider it. I usually give up on watching the videos because of the slowness of Quicktime. I gave up on this one.
December 17th, 2005 at 9:43 amI agree OldNorm; I’ve tried a thousand ways, and Quicktime just doesn’t work for me.
December 17th, 2005 at 9:50 am‘Presidential Perogative’…hmmmm…same thing nixon said as he went down.
December 17th, 2005 at 9:53 amYou people have got to wake up and get with the program. Dont you know that this dictator is always right and would never do anything wrong?
ZEIG HEIL!
December 17th, 2005 at 9:57 amWell, Quicktime has always worked for me. Perhaps there could be multiple formats to choose from, but I guess thats too much for for just a simple video on a site that isn’t a video-speciality site.
The video itself was great. I too always think of the Bobby Brown song when I hear someone say that word. It only sounds good in the song.
December 17th, 2005 at 9:57 amWow, did anyone else catch the president’s radio address!? It was outrageous! There needs to be a topic on it immediately. I’m stunned…
December 17th, 2005 at 10:22 amTHE PRESIDENTIAL EXEMPTION -
1. Our lying president is doing nothing other than continuing the ‘rich boy’s exemption that he had his whole criminal life.
http://www.hereinreality.com/familyvalues.html
2. On Sunday he will again be doing his lies like a ‘parrot on crack’
http://www.amconmag.com/2005/2005_12_19/article2.html
3. The biggest lie is that ‘9-11 changed everything’ and empowers him to be above the law. Progressives need to do a better job on this point. NEARLY ALL COMMUNITIES THAT HAD VICTIMS OF 9-11 VOTED AGAINST BUSH!!!.
a) Look at this victims list and see where they were from.
b) Look at this town by town break-down of the anti-Bush vote in Massachusetts.

(don’t expect the New York and Boston papers to tell this story. They are both owned by the pro-war party)
December 17th, 2005 at 10:25 amSorry for the abrupt, off-topic post with no information. But this was really over the top.
The president preempted his pretaped radio address to speak about the PATRIOT Act filibuster and the NSA domestic spying. He basically said regarding the NSA things that he could do what he needed to do because he’s commander in chief, and he didn’t care what anyone else said! On the PATRIOT Act, he was of course yelling an alarm since he has refused to negotiate or sign an extension. You’re with us or against us, after all. Sorry, but this news will undoubtedly preempt all previous topics. This speech was too much.
December 17th, 2005 at 10:26 amhuh…quicktime works best with my mac and broadband connection…real player is fine also, but not windows media (imagine that) which i avoid…crooksandliars offers both options – perhaps…? (just a thought)
December 17th, 2005 at 10:34 amHasn’t this presidency been one big prerogative?
December 17th, 2005 at 10:35 amOne day soon ,i hope , this administration will found out ,there nos such thing as limitless power . Secrecy is corruption and absolute secrecy is absolute corruption .
Seig heil to creeping fascism !
Cheney’s going for a 5 day tour overseas to promote his greatness . Somebody wants him out . May he fall on hard times.
December 17th, 2005 at 10:43 amSCOTT McCLELLAN! SHAME ON YOU! IS THIS HOW YOUR MOTHER RAISED YOU?! WHAT VALUES DID TEXAS STATE COMPTROLLER CAROL KEETON STRAYHORN, YOUR MOTHER, IMPART TO YOU?! IF, AS IT MAY SEEM, YOU’VE BEEN LIED TO, THEN THE STANDUP THING TO DO IS TO CALL THE LIARS OUT. YOU’RE BEHAVIOR NOW DOES NOT REFLECT WELL ON YOUR MOTHER…
December 17th, 2005 at 10:44 amExcellent! I had thought of the song too, and I’m glad to see you nailed it so well in your music video. Perfect!
December 17th, 2005 at 10:49 amFitzgerald has nothing to do with Tom Delay. Tom Delay doesn’t work in the White House. There’s no connection.
In short, whoever posted this is a moron. LOL
December 17th, 2005 at 10:51 am#16: Fitzgerald is a player in the exposure of Republican corruption. Tom Delay is a player in the exposure of Republican corruption. That’s the connection.
December 17th, 2005 at 11:00 amJamie, there is no connection. Are all the instances of Democrat corruption connected?

December 17th, 2005 at 11:01 am[...] Think Progress has put together a video of Scotty and GW to the tune of “My Prerogative.” Wacky. [...]
December 17th, 2005 at 11:02 amBush just said he spies and will continue to spy on citizens and this post is the hot item?
December 17th, 2005 at 11:07 amNote to the president: The poster in #20, “Carl Levin for President” is definitely one to watch.
Anyone who wants Levin to be in any office is obviously no friend of the United States. LOL
December 17th, 2005 at 11:13 amWe don’t need no stinkin Presidential Prerogatives.
December 17th, 2005 at 12:13 pmAnyone who wants Tom Delay to be in any office is obviously insane and no friend of the United States. LOL
December 17th, 2005 at 1:20 pmAnyone who wants Bush to be in any office is obviously insane and no friend of the United States. LOL
December 17th, 2005 at 1:21 pmGod bless you — THAT is funny!
December 17th, 2005 at 1:25 pmwwallace, there is no significant democrat corruption. Are all the instances of WIDESPREAD REPUBLICAN corruption connected? It seems like Delay and Cunningham were at the core of at least 2 scandals that included some 60 republicans accepting bribes.
wwallace = crook lover :()
December 17th, 2005 at 1:31 pmI predict Ryan will continue to call names and offer no substance. Watch… :()
December 17th, 2005 at 1:53 pmI predict wwallce will continue to call names and offer no substance. Watch… :()
December 17th, 2005 at 3:31 pmWacko Wallace is the most obvious sort of agent provocateur. Why pay any attention to him?
December 17th, 2005 at 3:52 pmpurvis, calling mne names will never change any of the facts I’ve posted. You’re also violating the site Terms of Use.
December 17th, 2005 at 3:58 pmwwallace, calling everyone names will never change any of the facts we’ve posted. You’re also violating the site Terms of Use.
December 17th, 2005 at 4:19 pmno, do not get rid of quicktime. leave quicktime here.
and don’t do any more of these music videos, they’re horrible.
December 17th, 2005 at 4:27 pmOld Norm: I agree 100% on getting rid of “quick” time. I don’t wait for it either, it is too antiquated.
December 17th, 2005 at 5:31 pmI am a resident of Canada and I as well as millions of us here have great empathy for what is happening to your country. I find it amazing that there is so little discourse noe on the atrocities of 911. The whole world knows this administration was implicit in the doings of this disaster but this issue is fading away. There are dozens of web site out there that should be arousing the fire in you all to hold this gov’t accountable. After all, this is what started the whole thing. They are as corrupt now as then and will only get worse if not impeached.

If you are representative of the typical Kanukistanian male then buddy, Kanaduh is so screwed. But we already knew that. We don’t even pretend to like you idiots anymore and we’re just waiting for an excuse to send up a group of Girl Scouts to take over your country so you’d better watch it.
December 17th, 2005 at 6:53 pmMizzWrong, while you clearly ‘catch’ like a girlscout, everyone knows you’re a chickenhawk coward. You clearly let everyone do the fighting for you like all scared retarded little chickenhawks.
Besides, like all fascist cowards, you can’t take any dissent, as is clear by your response to our good friends in canada. You’re a real wussie little loser, and typical of the psychotics who can’t take any dissent without threatening violence. It’s only because of your hysterical and irrational ‘little girl’ fears that you react this way. Your ‘anxious masculinity’ and ‘fear’ that make you ‘act out’, like any little any city gangster kid in a slum school would when he/she was beaten at home. All you’re doing is telegraphing to the world what a dysfunctional, abusive and horrific childhood you had. I feel pity for your pathetic little life…
December 18th, 2005 at 12:49 amHere’s another vote to get rid of Quicktime. I have Quicktime installed, but can’t get the videos to play in any browser.
Perhaps one solution would be to provide a direct link to a downloadable version of the file, so those of us with problems can have a shot at viewing it.
