This is incredibly bad for all of the PNAC and WHIG folks. These guys know who they are. The NeoCons are coming apart at the seems. Much like a mafia gang or drug cartel.
These will turn on each other to keep from having to go to prison.
A mafia guy or drug runner can handle himself in prison, but I don’t think the republicans will be able to.
What leads TP to report this? What other info can you give?
I almost hugged my monitor, but then the skeptic in me kicked in. (kinda like a defense mechanism!)
Please make my day, TP. Any info to back this up?
Now this is good news. It’s amazing to watch. Did any of these scoundrals really believe that there is honor among theives? Yeah – watch the dominos fall.
I just hope that Abramoff has good bodyguards, and tight security. I’d hate to hear about how he “apparently” committed suicide before he could squeal on the corrupt.
I’m sure there will be some democrats snared in the whole web, but the vast majority will be Republicans. This is something that Fox news (Faux news?) will gloss over quickly.
What’s the over/under on how many days he survives before he testifies? Will he be renditioned to a secret CIA prison? Too many folks want this guy to keep quiet.
even if DeLay beats the current charges, this is still waiting in the wings… Ambramoff has a lot of dirt on a lot of people… he will have to go into Witness Protection, I imagine… he’s too highly connected…
I don’t think he has anything to fear. True, these people are bullys, but they don’t have the nads to actually pull the trigger, or do anything else that might get their hands dirty. Are any of them – or their family members for that matter, doing any of the fighting in Iraq? Nope. Abramhoff is going to plead out, maybe do some time in a gentleman’s prision, pay a fine, and make for his compound with the pile of cash he has left. That’s juris prudence for the rich in America. It’s been that way since Watergate.
Busted, I don’t think that they will have Abramoff killed. If they do then they will have his blood on their hands and so many questions will be asked that it would be worse for them.
My guess is one of three things will happen.
1) Abramoff will testify and take a large number of people with him. Some politicians will apologise, others will go down. Some reforms will occur and everything will be right with the world.
2) Abramoff will partly testify and bring down one or two bad politicians who are already known to be involved. The rest will get away with it, little will change.
3) Abramoff will “testify”, say little to nothing, get a minimal sentence and be pardoned for services to the Bush administration.
Obviously I would prefer 1. 2 would do at a pinch as long as it takes a few of the worst offenders (DeLay, please). 3 would just be horrible.
Holy sh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!t
December 21st, 2005 at 12:26 amDelay better study the game of “tag” that prosecuters use all the time.
When a person gets busted with a quarter ounce of weed, the prosecuter will lighten their sentence if they squeal on on the big dealer.
We all know that Delay is the big dealer.
Tag, you’re it Delay!
December 21st, 2005 at 12:39 amThe Republican house of cards is coming down. TIMBERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!
December 21st, 2005 at 12:40 amYES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!

December 21st, 2005 at 8:50 amHe’ll be put in the witness protection program and get a sex change. Where else can he hide?
December 21st, 2005 at 9:01 amIf he survives to testify, this will be quite exciting to watch. Guess I need more popcorn.

December 21st, 2005 at 10:27 amTrolls? Gia? wwallace? NeD (whichever name you use today)?
What are your intellectual thoughts on what Abramoff might say? Who do you think may go down?
December 21st, 2005 at 11:07 amWe all knew this dude wasn’t going down alone. Just don’t get on any airplanes, Jack, and keep your head down.
December 21st, 2005 at 11:29 amLike Ann Coulter did?
Z.
December 21st, 2005 at 12:00 pmHe’ll need nothing short of a sex change operation and a one-way ticket to another planet. The Republicans will have him killed. Tsk.
December 21st, 2005 at 2:32 pm“Bubba, iszat you?”
