Not as much poverty here as there used to be, the city sprawl has brought some money out this way, but there’s still a lot of old school mentality here in the South, so in many ways we are still dirt poor when it comes to intelligence and forward progress.

Yea, this is my first time posting. I usually post at Americablog, crooks and liars, and atrios. When I’m really bored, I go toa rightwing blog (polipundit) just to stir up some trouble.

I teach in a very poor district. Lots of problems. She was one of my students (second hour American Lit).

So you teach high school? Me too… Right before the break, we had an assembly on drugs. There’s a serious problem in our district with kids doing dangerous drugs (it was pot and alcohol when I graduated from the same school). After the assembly I asked the kids why they thought so many kids were doing drugs. The answers we all over the place, but one thing they all seem to agree on is legalizing drugs. Interesting considering the problem, huh? They still want the right to choose for themselves.
