UPDATE: Fox Carolina Reporter Active On White Supremacist Website
Tami Birckner, the Fox Carolina reporter who ran the one-sided fluff piece on StormFront.org, a popular hub for white supremacists and anti-Semites, was an active participant in the website’s chat forums.
Think Progress contacted Birckner this afternoon and she confirmed that she is “FOXSC” on StormFront’s forums. Since joining in October, Birckner has posted five times, often gaining feedback (and praise) on her StormFront coverage:

I am FOX Carolina reporter who reported this story. I contacted dozens of Stormfront members, all of whom (with the exception of Bob Whitaker and Jamie Kelso) declined to talk with me for this story because of the believed slant I would put into this story. I hope this can show those of you who have little faith in the media that there are journalists who take pride in being factual and unbiased.

I am the reporter who did this story. For those of you who live in the FOX Carolina viewing area, I am willing to do a follow-up story to show a better make-up of the people who are members and talk more in-depth about your beliefs. THis would probably air in February. Let me know if you are interested.
Birckner’s praise of StormFront didn’t go unnoticed by Jamie Kelso (”Charles Lindbergh”), the site’s Senior Moderator, 11/14/05:
One detail that I forgot (until just yesterday) was to unmoderate our new Stormfront Member, FOXSC, so that Fox could post more easily on Stormfront.
Birckner told Think Progress that she is unsure whether or not she will be doing a follow-up piece and is waiting to hear more from the “local community.” When asked why she didn’t include some voices that were critical of StormFront, she replied she did the story exactly as she was told to and that officials at the network were very pleased with her coverage.

The South Carolina Broadcaster’s Association has named Tami Birckner the 2005 SC Reporter of the Year.
Tami has been a member of the FOX Carolina news team since its inception in 1999. Tami is an award-winning journalist with more than two dozen notable accomplishments to her name, several for her work as an investigative reporter.
Tami began her broadcasting career in radio, working as a reporter, anchor, and eventually news director in Martinsburg, WV. After six years in radio news, Tami made the switch to television, where she produced, reported, and anchored at WHAG-TV in Hagerstown, MD.
Tami is an active member of the Upstate community. She has served on the board member for the Piedmont Wilderness Institute, a juvenile justice program for young male teenagers in South Carolina that serves as an alternative to jail time. Tami was also the 2004 Grand Ambassador for Red Ribbon Works, an ongoing campaign to keep todays youth away from tobacco, alcohol and drugs.
Tami received her undergraduate degree in Broadcast Communications fromShepherd College in Shepherdstown, WV. In July of 2005, Tami completed her Masters Degree with honors.

Besides, genetic ‘diversity’ is the key to species survival, and it’s the thing that generally makes a species or group genetically ’superior’. By that measure, africans are clearly superior. I posted this one last night:
But, we get no response, just random post deletions, with no ryhme or reason. They don’t delete the original troll posts that cause us to respond, only the response posts.
This is much the same way that a football game works. One player pushes another player, who turns around and pushes back. The second player, who was the original pushee gets the penalty. Even though everybody at home sees the first push.
All of us see the original flame post, but for some reason Think Progress does not.

I agree with Gregor, frankly that’s a very weak and unacceptable response. If you can take the time to delete the reponses to the original, you can certainly take the time to delete the original posting as well.
If you don’t have the time, resources, or personnel to actually do this effectively, one wonders whether you should state this as your intent. Clearly you’re understaffed to manage the blog correctly based on what you’ve stated. I suggest you hire people with enough time, and experience to do this job – your current system is clearly ineffective.

The reason why somebody could jump to that conclusion is because there are three main religions in the world. Christians, Jews and Muslims. The Christians wouldn’t perpetrate a Global War on Christmas. So, that rules them out. The Muslims are not known for owning anything but oil companies. So, that leaves the Jews.

I read the nuremburg files. They’re an interesting read, and frankly the stories, policies and attitudes sound exactly like the current Republicans. I’m sure Hannity didn’t mean to point people to such a clear and indicting document – he must have been swayed by the misleading title. While the title was clearly an attempt to put a good face on christians in europe, it actually has the opposite effect if you read the contents.
It is a remarkable document, but not because of what republicans believe it says.
In particular the document describes how evangelicals (remember this includes Bush) were completely in line with Nazi policies, and that the actions of the evangelicals and Nazis were as one.
Sound familiar? It should.

The only connection the station has with News Corp. is its Fox affiliation and that it probably takes the Fox News Edge feed. Roger Ailes had NOTHING–repeat, NOTHING to do with this story.

I hope they realize that they are in fact a “global” minority, and that fomenting a race war in America will more than likely result in the realization of their paranoid fears. Science cannot save us, unfortunately. The skin of all races were varying colors of brown, in the beginning and just like in art when you change the tint to lighter (the sun is less intense in certain places on the globe), the pigment also changes colors and white develops from the pigment being infused with less strength in the sun (less color). Wow! How simple a truth!! Dark color fades and even disappears as the Homo-sapiens species migrate into different places on the planet wherein the sun is less intense and therefore the skin color does not need the darker pigment to protect it from the sun.
Whew, it is all about using common sense, really at best and at worst, we can swallow our damn stupidity and use hateful science to prove certain facts.
And, obviously as well as unfortunately, those of us who get it must make a commitment to do our best in getting along with those who have been gifted with the same brain and also have available exactly the same information to ascertain choices based on intelligence; yet, these brothers and sisters of our own species would rather drink the KOOK AID and rely on SICK, very, very SICK fears, phobias and superstitious brainwashing of common sense.
Should we “do it ourselves and take the burden off god”, well then we could not get into the shame, blame, judgement and punishment and oh yes, what fun, the killing can begin — and as always, it is about the other one, the person who is somehow different, but certainly it cannot possibly be the proverbial separate “I,†who has the distorted concept.
It has to be, that other human being or any life form for that matter that is “different” than what the perception of the person who has been programmed exactly like a robot, about “different” — “they,†“it,†“other,†“them,†“that,†MUST be destroyed. Therefore, stomp on their body, mind, spirit and prove that they are not worthy of having a life. Or, they get to have a life exactly as it is decided by those who think they know.
The energy that all power is, is the power that is also all energy. There is NO separation, only varying degrees or in other words, vibrations of molecules.
Thus, where these people are getting their marching orders, those who think that it is THEIR: J-O-B, calling, higher service of the “supreme†beings, to clean up the planet and rid it of the godless, is a mystery indeed.
Those who seem to think that they know, about those who they think do not know, about which to them that think they know it all, it is an obvious thing for everyone to know and see, as it is for those who think they know all; and, it was/is that the power and energy found in the life form of all forms animate and inanimate, is in direct communication (the word crazy comes to mind), to directly direct those who seem to know about how all life, energy and power, actually is.
And, furthermore, PRECISELY — those who think they know how the omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent energies, behind the power of all creation – thinks, feels and acts – and so of course, THEY are THOSE who speak directly to the energy behind the power of all creation and are therefore quite qualified to make the judgements, and it is crystal clear that white (supreme) is obviously the exact pigment of life energy and all powerful forms of life.
Uh oh, what if it is true and everyone has to take a turn in the barrel? In other words, it is all about energy and all that goes around comes around. Why that is not fair, screams loudly from the mouths who think they know: “We thought this was all about choosing a target, you know, the victim! We have to have a victim or we cannot get excited about being alive. We live to kill everything that is different because we are told to do so by someone – who we think may be correct about how we should think, feel, talk and act.â€
Yes, folks, it is a terrible thing to waste, a brain. Why not just open up the skull and take it out and give it to those who want to think for everyone because somehow they know it all.
The energy which is the power in all life forms is only one thing that thinks one way. Er, somehow this does not appear to be true. Sun, Moon, Earth, Planets, Stars, etc. Not just the Sun! Wow, and all this time I thought I was the only human being on the planet and still a lowly native with the thunder and lightening gods of destruction after me to burn my existence into oblivion because because I gazed at the moon and thought for a moment how much it reminded me of the sun. Die traitor, the sun is king in the sky and the moon is never to be worshipped, not even for the entertainment of your imagination, you fool.

Look, I’m as disgusted by this segment as anyone else, but I don’t think its fair to jump all over Birkner for being a forum member, when its pretty apparent she joined to get information on doing the story.
And while her belief that this story is “unbiased” might stem from personal white nationalist beliefs she may have, it might stem from here genuine belief that what she reported is unbiased. We don’t have the proper grounds to lay a charge of racism at her feet. It would much better suit our purposed to keep to the facts, and criticize her where she should be rightly criticized, and that is for failing to inform viewers that Stormfront is in fact a fascist nesting ground.

If a reporter was going to do a report on Stormfront, registering and posting 5 whole times, all in relation to the story, is not a sign that the reporter shares the prejudice of the board members. The fact is, know one has any grounds for alleging that Birkner is racist.
Any intellectually honest person would keep the criticism where it should be rightly be focused. To do otherwise only weakens “our” position.

I mean, let’s face it: when you create a report in the way this Tami Birckner has, or the way Tony Snow has, the only thing that it proves is that you have enough grammar skills to fluff up the fact that you are a racist. They’re just trying to make it more attractive, and provide alternative reasoning (which is also faulty in many aspects) in order to give people who may think like them some validity for the racist mentality and bring out what I call “closet racists.” They want to tell them, “You’re not a racist. It’s okay to have a supremacist mentality…after all, what we’re doing is merely trying to preserve the white race.”
But at what cost?
Meredith Corporation, Fox Carolina, and Fox News SHOULD BE ashamed of themselves. I said “SHOULD BE” because it’s obvious that they don’t have very much scruntiny in their editing. Let me try and explain why pandering to your local market is bad without going into feedback reinforcement loops and the like…
Imagine a community which consisted of 60% white christians, 30% black christians and 10% asian buddhists. Now the overwhelming majority of people in that community are Christian. Let’s assume that a small minority (25%) of people in that community are anti-Buddhist and start promoting themselves as the group who are preserving their Christian heritage. A journalist writes a fluff piece about how some Christians feel that they are under attack from the Buddhists and doesn’t allow any rebuttal from the Buddhists. Hatred of the Buddhists grows, and is considered acceptable. They run more stories, people start attacking the Buddhists. Eventually the Buddhists are run out of town. No problem, the network was just pandering to their consumers. If they had published a balanced piece that showed that the hatred was unjustified perhaps this wouldn’t have happened.
These people are complaining about the White Race vanishing… According to the CIA world factbook the USA is 81.7% white. I don’t think we need to worry until that figure drops nearer 50%. And even then I still don’t see what the problem is.
