Let me try and explain why pandering to your local market is bad without going into feedback reinforcement loops and the like…

Imagine a community which consisted of 60% white christians, 30% black christians and 10% asian buddhists. Now the overwhelming majority of people in that community are Christian. Let’s assume that a small minority (25%) of people in that community are anti-Buddhist and start promoting themselves as the group who are preserving their Christian heritage. A journalist writes a fluff piece about how some Christians feel that they are under attack from the Buddhists and doesn’t allow any rebuttal from the Buddhists. Hatred of the Buddhists grows, and is considered acceptable. They run more stories, people start attacking the Buddhists. Eventually the Buddhists are run out of town. No problem, the network was just pandering to their consumers. If they had published a balanced piece that showed that the hatred was unjustified perhaps this wouldn’t have happened.

These people are complaining about the White Race vanishing… According to the CIA world factbook the USA is 81.7% white. I don’t think we need to worry until that figure drops nearer 50%. And even then I still don’t see what the problem is.

The town is more than just BoJo’s home. This is an institution, mind you, that once had a KKK Grand Dragon on its Board of Trustees and still has a building named in his honor.

Their influence permeates local churches, media, politics, and law enforcement. So rhis station is just catering to their local market……..!

How can a reporter do a story on Stormfront, and in the process of typical research, not discover that it’s a thorough racist, anti-semitic website?

Either Birkner is grossly incompetent — in which case she should issue an on-air apology and expose Stormfront for what it is — or she blatantly hid the group’s true agenda — in which case she should be fired.

But at what cost?

Meredith Corporation, Fox Carolina, and Fox News SHOULD BE ashamed of themselves. I said “SHOULD BE” because it’s obvious that they don’t have very much scruntiny in their editing. People like Tami Birckner and Tony Snow don’t have any shame in this regard because they’re the ones fostering this new “I’m-only-trying-to-help-preserve-the-white-race” mentality, which is only racism in sheep’s clothing.

And nauseaus.

Any intellectually honest person would keep the criticism where it should be rightly be focused. To do otherwise only weakens “our” position.

I am FOX Carolina reporter who reported this story. I contacted dozens of Stormfront members, all of whom (with the exception of Bob Whitaker and Jamie Kelso) declined to talk with me for this story because of the believed slant I would put into this story. I hope this can show those of you who have little faith in the media that there are journalists who take pride in being factual and unbiased.

Look, I’m as disgusted by this segment as anyone else, but I don’t think its fair to jump all over Birkner for being a forum member, when its pretty apparent she joined to get information on doing the story.

And while her belief that this story is “unbiased” might stem from personal white nationalist beliefs she may have, it might stem from here genuine belief that what she reported is unbiased. We don’t have the proper grounds to lay a charge of racism at her feet. It would much better suit our purposed to keep to the facts, and criticize her where she should be rightly criticized, and that is for failing to inform viewers that Stormfront is in fact a fascist nesting ground.

If memory serves a parent company can nix any story they deem not in their best interest, just ask MoveOn.org, the Kerry campaign, or any number of progressive politicians or pundits who had stories squashed during the dark days of the 2000 and ‘04 exercises in dictatorship.
