Sadly, we’ll be beating back these myths for the next couple of months. “Well Gosh durn it, I heard it on Rush, O’Reilly, and Hannity so it must be true”.
Why do they expect us to read the parts we don’t like?

Yes – we should let Saddam have his country back since he claims he was tortured by U.S. soldiers. Anyone can see that Saddam is an innocent man. How dare Bush attack him? He should be released at once and be reinstated as president. While we’re at it, we should let the Taliban have Afghanistan back as well since 9/11 was a plot planned by Bush and co.

If true, this would put his trial in jeopardy -another reason to be against torture.
Anyone can see that Saddam is an innocent man. How dare Bush attack him?
If you mean innocent of involvement in the 9/11 attacks, well, yes, he was and still is. Pres Bush has backpedaled on his claims (which he now says he never made) and admitted Hussein’s regime had nothing to do with those attacks.
Other than that, this is a feeble attempt at sarcasm and a strawman.
He should be released at once and be reinstated as president. While we’re at it, we should let the Taliban have Afghanistan back as well since 9/11 was a plot planned by Bush and co.
(i)Strawman. (ii)If you are trying to be sarcastic, maybe you should look for the people who are advocating Hussein be re-instated and the Taliban be given control back.
When you do find them, come back and let us know.
How about you try to stay on topic? Do you have an opinion on Bush’s illegal eavesdropping?
The retard “.” believes that he’s the ‘opposite’ of saddam, but I’m sure saddam believed he was the oppose of ‘osama’. That’s what’s funny about reichwing morons, they always think everyone they’re fighting is the opposite of them, but ironically they’re often the ’same’ as them.
And “.” is probably too ‘retarded’ to know that republicans put Saddam and his fascist RIGHTWING regime in power so they’d fight the commies.
And “.” is probably too ‘retarded’ to know that republicans sold saddam WMDs.
And “.” is probably too ‘retarded’ to know that republicans turned a blind eye to Saddam’s torturing.
It’s funny to see “.” grow a conscience now, considering republicans never had one when they were proping up this miserable dictator in the 80s!

How do you keep that Olive Oyl physique while battling strawmen all day?
“Every president, that we know of, has complied with the law (FISA),” Hagel said. “No president is above the law. We are a nation of laws and no president, majority leader, or chief justice of the Supreme Court can unilaterally or arbitrarily avoid a law or dismiss a law. If the vice president holds a different point of view, then he holds a different point of view.”
The arrogance of the Republicans will be their ultimate undoing. If they understood clearly what their sainted leader just did to them, they’d be backing away from Bush as quickly as they could. Here’s why:
Plausible deniability.
Before Bush and his Henchmen arrogantly declared that they were “saving lives” by spying on US citizen _within_ country borders, anyone in DC could claim they didn’t know anything about it. This has worked for decades. If you don’t know about it, it’s hard to tie you to a crime of this magnitude.
Now that Bush as outted himself, now that Europe is nearly on fire over revelations of “extreme rendering” (aka: kidnapping people off the streets), EVERYONE involved is in trouble. Maybe no today. But someday. They can no longer claim to have _not_ known. Why do you think that judge quit so quickly after it was revealed that the NSA had spied inside this country?
This is what Europeans have used to go after Pinochette(sp?) in Chile. Augusto’s lack of plausible deniability caught up with him. Do the Repugs absolutely believe they are untouchable? Then what happened to DeLay? To Gingritch? To Abramhoff? To Scanlon? To Cunningham? And is about to happen to Rove? To Conrad? To many others?
Someday, somewhere, after they’ve sold our country out to the highest bidder and taken their money and ran, Bush may be arrested, tried, and jailed for his crimes. And it might not be US citizens who make this happen.
Bush completely BLEW his own cover of plausible deniability.
Wow…Adndrea Mitchell actually did a relatively good job last night on Hardball. She wasn’t quite the hack she usually is. She did, however, revert back to her usual self when she lobbed a few softballs at the the republican senator (framed the questions in a way Ken Mehlman would have been proud).
At least Reagan knew how to work the plausible deniability angle. He never came out and said, “I can’t comment on our arms-for-hostages operations, as it would put American lives at risk.”
I can hardly believe that Andrea Mitchell actually stated a news piece that was opposed to the RNC position. The Post article is correct too, but truth is not as clearly stated up front.
Saddam was set up? I heard a piece recently about Rumsfeld and another top US Official meeting sometime in late 1988. The story goes that the US Official met the Emir of Kuwait urging him to move his borders a few hundred yards to take over an Iraqi Oil field. A Few months later either Rumsfeld or another top official met saddam in France telling him that it would be in his best interest to invade kuwait and reclaim his oil fields which is exactly what he did and exactly what happened. Nice way to light the flame under the fire eh?
Impeachment is making itself heard in more places lately, but few in the MSM will take an “official” poll of the public to see where they stand. Some on-line sites polled, but they are not scientific. Real pollsters need to take a poll and find out how many Americans are ready to throw Bush’s ass out of the White House. Are they afraid of what they’ll find? That a majority are ready to impeach for a variety of just causes.

Memo to Post editors: Get a friggin’ clue.
