They have seemed to have dogged the WMD lies, The Valerie Plame leak, torturing detainees, Abu Ghraib and all of the little ’stunts’ Rove pulls to threaten Journalists from reportering on them. My only complaint is that I want this process to speed along. I want hearings next week.. and I want the Preznit to have lost all of his political power by the following week. The sooner we get a lame duck president.. the sooner we can stop this madman from destroying our country.

Let’s also not forget Chimp was up for bombing Al Jazeera, so why would he give a f*ck about eavesdropping on journalists… especially one married to a former Clinton official.
If the 4th Estate has any f*cking cojones, they can draw up the charge sheet to put these criminals out of business. I still predict Bolton will be fall-guy when the sh*t hits the fan, but if he’s got the Abramoff gene, he might just rat out the whole stinking gang of thieves.

When journalists are themselves victims of unwarranted spying, the public may receive the ultimate benefit.
You guys are all ignoring the more incredible fact–that they deleted that reference from the transcript. Investigation or not, why did NBC choose to remove Mitchell’s question? This smells SO much more like a coverup/whitewash than any kind of “investigation”…
By the way, how could NBC even investigate? Isn’t everything double-secret-probation classified? How in hell would they get their mitts on anything substantial?

Prior to the 2006 mid-terms Bush will declare martial law and disband congress. He cannot afford to wait and see how the elections come out because he knows, Rove has told him, that they are going to lose control of congress. That would mean immediate impeachment proceeding in Jan. 2007.
If Alito is put on SCOTUS it makes all of Bushlandias actions legal, so it is imperative he be kept off the court. If he is, Bush has the answer. Disband the Supreme Court also.

Jamie Rubin doesn’t just have connections to Dems and Clinton/Gore. He was John Kerry’s Foreign Policy Advisor on the Kerry Campaign in 2004.
January 5th, 2006 at 10:37 amThis pisses me off. Why is NBC changing a transcript? A transcript is supposed to be an historical document of what was said. Not what was meant to be said, and is no subject to modification at the whim of the source to remove certain information. This is like “History – Version 2.0″ in my book! Big Brother is alive and well if we are letting the White House and now NBC to get away with modifying history.
January 5th, 2006 at 10:44 am#17 – the altering of the script might just be NBC keeping shtum about what they hope will be a major scoop. And I think you can argue that now they have admitted to following this story, they’ll actually more likely to air it in time.
But the intersting angle for me is that Jamie Rubin was a Kerry consultant… I didn’t actually know that, just knew he had worked for Clinton.
I recall a certain other Kerry foreign policy consultant who the Bushies got mad at… a certain Joe Wilson. And we all know what happened to his wife.

Just the utter stupidity of that statement Bush made the other day: “If al Quaeda is calling you, we want to know why.” Boy, I feel safer now. Everything they do is aimed at political enemies and holding on to power.
#12, wow. These people wield a lot of power in a wildly irresponsible way, but they can’t shut down the other two branches of government. Then there’d be blood in the streets.

January 5th, 2006 at 3:55 pm#27 – you are correct. Amanpour is married to Rubin. But, it would be a direct conflict of interest for Christie and Rubin to discuss Kerry’s campaign so this disclosure could be very damaging for CNN.
Of course, this all highly speculative.
As for NBC reasons for censoring this info, Andrea Mitchell has a habit of making bold accusations and incriminating herself. If Christie was wiretapped and Mitchell blurts it out on tv, she becomes a witness. It is already highly likely that she will be subponeaed in Scooter Libby’s trial.
