MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, just now, on Tom DeLay’s lifestyle:
You have one guy Tom DeLay who lives in some sort of 20th floor apartment way down on Route 95, nothing special at all — I mean really lives basically, like a regular middle class person. He doesn’t live well at all.
The truth about Tom DeLay’s lifestyle:
As Tom DeLay became a king of campaign fund-raising, he lived like one, too. He visited cliff-top Caribbean resorts, golf courses designed by PGA champions and four-star restaurants, all courtesy of donors who bankrolled his political money empire.
Over the past six years, the former House majority leader and his associates have visited places of luxury most Americans have never seen, often getting there aboard corporate jets arranged by lobbyists and other special interests.
Public documents reviewed by the Associated Press tell the story: At least 48 visits to golf clubs and resorts; 100 flights aboard company planes; 200 stays at hotels, many world-class; and 500 meals at restaurants, some averaging nearly $200 for a dinner for two.
Sounds like an extremely basic livestyle.
UPDATE: Crooks and Liars has the video.
Chris…Chris…Chris…tsk..tsk..tsk…..do you have no shame…
He lived like a regular person….from where Beverly Hills….cmon
Its high time he disclosed his ties to Jack Abramoffs charity fund raisers…..
what a fraud….an embarassment to his hometown of Philadelphia….
January 6th, 2006 at 5:35 pmWow, if that’s middle class, I’m in! Count me as a happy willing participant in middle class american perks! Sign me up! But I’m not willing to lie, cheat and sell votes to get there – just so you know!
January 6th, 2006 at 5:36 pmheckuva job chris
January 6th, 2006 at 5:38 pmChris Matthews is just trying to get a date with Bill O’Reilly…
January 6th, 2006 at 5:40 pmAnother example of why MMFA named him disinformer of the year. I also agree with Bob Somerby that Matthews is the fakest man alive.
January 6th, 2006 at 5:44 pmThose poor congresscritters. Maybe they need to raise their salaries again.
January 6th, 2006 at 5:45 pmLike a regular guy.
When a regular guy has to go to court, he isn’t flown their on a corporate jet with champagne.

DeLay Flies Corporate Jet to Arraignment

January 6th, 2006 at 5:47 pmChris is right. I mean, heck, it was just the other day that I was thinking, while cruising in my LearJet on my way to play a quick 9 at Sawgrass, that everyone is just being too hard on poor Tom.
Uh, excuse me (yes dear, more Crystall please).
As I was saying, do we expect Tom to live like a peasant?
January 6th, 2006 at 5:48 pmSmart criminals keep it buried in the back yard.
January 6th, 2006 at 5:50 pmAnd a trip to the Northern Mariana’s Islands with his “Close friend” Jack Abramoff too.
Me, I’m middle class and I’ve been to Canada.
I paid my own way.
January 6th, 2006 at 5:51 pmTwitty hasn’t been credible in a long time. But now he is just a cartoon character.
January 6th, 2006 at 5:52 pmI can smell the flopsweat from here.
January 6th, 2006 at 5:52 pmHonestly, I haven’t watched Hardball since Media Matters made him stooge of the year. I’ve gone exclusively internet. No more CNN. No more MSNBC or FOX. I might watch MTP.
January 6th, 2006 at 5:54 pmMaybe if I lived in Tweety’s middle class world I could be home watching this crap instead of working.
January 6th, 2006 at 5:54 pmLiberal Media – BAHAHAHA
Yeah right.
That’s the same kind of Oxy Moron as competent cronie and honest republican politician!
BAHAHAHA
January 6th, 2006 at 5:54 pmMaybe in Matthews’ circles, this is “regular” life-style.
January 6th, 2006 at 5:55 pmWhat the hell has happened to Matthews over the years? He is an example of my theory that people who become rich, often lose sight of reality. They are rich, therefore they are right. They are rich, therefore virtuous.
Do they know any real people?
Delay’s money is stashed somewhere. It will come oozing out sometime, for sure. He aint stupit.
January 6th, 2006 at 5:56 pm“I was so tired this morning, I could hardly ‘ring’ for the butler!”….chris, you IGNORANT dummy.
January 6th, 2006 at 5:56 pmGus – Do watch Countdown with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC, it’s the only thing worth watching on that channel. That and the Daily Show will get you through most days.
January 6th, 2006 at 5:56 pm“like a regular middle class person. He doesn’t live well at all.”
Soooooo…. regular middle class people don’t live well? Sounds to me like somebody is being a wee bit elitist
January 6th, 2006 at 6:06 pmWhat Marie said.
Maybe Tweety and Timmeh and even Big Russ regularly indulge in expensive pastimes and recreation, and thus find Tommy Boy’s lifestyle as respectable as a good Republican cloth coat once was.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:06 pmThe wingnut apologist response to these stories kills me…
“He’s a United States Congressman – he needs to project this image when traveling abroad.”
“He represents his constituents and if this is how his constituents live, he should be living that way, too.”
“It’s important that he get out and see the world in order to better understand it.”
January 6th, 2006 at 6:06 pmPublic documents reviewed by the Associated Press tell the story: At least 48 visits to golf clubs and resorts; 100 flights aboard company planes; 200 stays at hotels, many world-class; and 500 meals at restaurants, some averaging nearly $200 for a dinner for two.
Sounds like an extremely basic livestyle.
Hell, over six years and he only played golf 48 times, stated in a hotel 200 times and ate 500 times? It sounds to me he’s not working that hard at all. If that’s all the entertaining my guys did over a six year period I’d fire him for being a slacker. In addition our corporate policy is that you stay in a hotel that is NOT less comfortable than your own home. I’ll tell you something else too, add a small bar tab to a decent meal and you’ve got a bill over $100 every time.
Let’s take a look at John “Cabaña Boy” Kerry’s expenses shall we? I won’t hold my breath.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:07 pmOh, one more thing. If you think that is extravigant for one of the most powerful men in the country then you losers just don’t know how to live. That’s what you get for skipping school and getting knocked up. HA!
January 6th, 2006 at 6:09 pmJudd, let’s agree on a couple of things:
First, Tom DeLay is an extremely powerful politician because he is an effective politician – in the same way that many Democratic party icons have been effective and powerful in the past. Sam Rayburn, Lyndon Johnson Jim Wright come to mind, for example. [Note: the fact that so many of the legislative icons of both parties may or may not be a coincidence!]
Second, Lord Acton was right about the corrupting influence of power. This is an equal opportunity affliction, to which many Democrats and Republicans have succumbed. Dan Rostenkowski, Duke Cunningham, the House banking scandal, and Teddy Kennedy all come to mind as proof of this axiom.
Third, it follows that any member of Congress who is legitimately suspected of wrongdoing should be investigated through the proper channels (or maybe you think we ought to investigate them all, just to cover all our bases?). Those who are found to have engaged in corruption whould be punished accordingly, both in the law courts and in the court of public opinion. That should be the case, regardless of the memeber’s party affiliation.
Fourth, to the extent we turn a blind eye to the corruption of any politician for partisan reasons, whether it is Tom DeLay or Bill Clinton, we are doing a disservice to our country.
Fifth, it follows that equal scrutiny should be given to Harry Reid, Byron Dorgan and Carl Levin, and their colleagues, along with Tom DeLay, Duke Cunningham and Bob Ney, and their collegues.
These last two points are where TP is letting its readers down. Treating this as a purely and exclusively Republican scandal won’t do anything to clean up the problem. At best, it will only affect which party receives the most corrupt attention from the corrupters. If that is TP’s only goal, then it, too, is corrupt.
Corruption is a bipartisan problem. We will never get rid of it until we all become committed to an equally bipartisan solution. In some cases, that will mean throwing out some rascals from among our own partisans. TP must demonstrate a firm commitment to this principle, or it will become a significant part of the problem, and an affirmative obstacle to any solution.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:11 pmWouldn’t you say that Delay is ready for the Medal of Freedom?
January 6th, 2006 at 6:12 pmTom DeLay is ready for Leavenworth!
January 6th, 2006 at 6:19 pmBlue State Red: That’s funny, I can plainly see Reid’s name on the list: http://www.thinkprogress.org/abramoff why can’t you? If your real argument is the weighted amount of coverage towards Republicans, well, then you’re not being realistic with yourself about the proportions of graft.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:20 pmJust another middle-class guy. Just like me.
-
January 6th, 2006 at 6:22 pmTrolls,
The point that is being made here is that Chris Matthews down-playing of Tom’s lifestyle in an effort to present him as an “average joe” is a deceitful joke.
If you have no problem with Mr. Delay’s extravagence, that’s fine. Just don’t try to play it off as he is some blue collar, roll-up your sleeves, sort of character who just barely makes ends meet like Matthews is attempting to do.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:24 pmAttention brakyer and all other Republican apologists who claim that “both sides do it” I have three words for you:
K Street Project.
Dems had Tammany Hall. You boys have K Street. Doubtless you can find a few Dems who were up to no good, but everyone knows that political machines aren’t bipartisan. And Abrahamoff, DeLay et al were building quite a machine.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:27 pmdelay also has that odd crossed eye look. he must be on of those hyphenated bell curvians, like I-Right-I. To wit, the troll bible of racism, the bell curve;
January 6th, 2006 at 6:27 pmWe want to call people whatever they prefer to be called, including their preferences for ethnic labels. As we write, however, there are no hard-and fast rules, People from Latin America wish to be known according to their national origin: Cuban-American, Mexican-American, Puerto Rican, and so forth. Hispanic is still the US government’s official label, but Latino has gained favor in recent years. We use Latino. Opting for common usage and simplicity, we usually use black instead of African-American and white (which always refers to non-Latino whites) instead of European-American or Anglo. Americans of Asian descent are called Asian when the context leaves no possibility of confusion with Asians living in Asia. We shift to the hyphenated versions for everyone when it would avoid such confusions or when, for stylistic reasons, the hyphenated versions seem appropriate (pp. 271).
Treating this as a purely and exclusively Republican scandal won’t do anything to clean up the problem.
And when the monkeys fling feces at people at the zoo, I guess that makes it a problem for both. Come on, your party is neck deep in one of the largest corruption scandals in decades. Crying that both sides do it, makes you sound like you condone it, or that you defend it when it is your party. How about we just say, let the accused be tried fairly, and the guily be punished, regardless of their connections.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:28 pmWell, it was smooth sailing until I hit #23 (and can you install an ignore list, a la The Nation?). As for the apologist conflating DeLay, who cheated his way to wealth, with various Dems, sorry, Tweety wasn’t commenting on them. Save it for when he does.
I stopped watching on November 28, 2005, on the occasion of the classic everyone likes Bush except for a few crazies on the left, uh, observation. Since then, thanks to the Internet, several almost as outrageous remarks have been brought to my attention, in the digestible context of instant rebuttal.
How right you are, #5. Misinformer of the year is putting it much too kindly. Too bad Matthews and others of his ilk don’t have time to read the websites. They’re too busy bloviating.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:32 pmYeah, real salt of the earth that DeLay.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:34 pmYou know that poor Cunningham guy lived
on a junky old boat!
Investigate, indict, prosecute. Let the chips fall where they may, D or R. However, only a fool or a liar (or possibly a rightwing dittohead…oh right, that covers both) could be so utterly clueless as to the truth about what Ambramoff and the K Street Project was up to and who benefitted. The wingers here look shamefully ridiculous in their defense of the GOP.
The party’s been over for the Republicans for a while, I had no idea how many would wind up in court.
You reap what you sow baby! Hahaha.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:35 pmLet’s take a look at John “Cabaña Boy†Kerry’s expenses shall we? I won’t hold my breath.

Kerry is not the point here, Delay is and mathews downplaying it, i-troll-i
January 6th, 2006 at 6:35 pmBut you have never been real keen on keeping facts straight, have you?
But since you brought that up, Kerry would not need to spend swindled money, because he is already independently weathy and married to an heiress with a fortune already. Kerry lives within his means, on his or his spouses money. Delay is a crook and a swindler, big difference, i-troll-i
Blue State Red,
January 6th, 2006 at 6:36 pmMy impression is that the practice of holding donors to be exclusive to a particular party is what did these guys in. Goes back to K street. Delay chose to skate on the thin ice. They knew it wouldn’t last.
You’re not giving TP bloggers enough credit. I think you just want to vent. Why would you do that here?
even without the added context, i mean, who lives in a 20th-floor apartment? not any “regular folks” i know, and i hang out with plenty of people near the top of the middle.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:36 pmThe Bell Curve cites a journal called the Mankind Quarterly five times throughout the course of the book. Furthermore, seventeen of the researchers cited from The Bell Curve have contributed to The Mankind Quarterly . Ten of the citations in the book refer to editors or former editors of the journal. Mankind Quarterly was founded by Robert Gayle, a notorious racist. He testified for the defense of five members of the British Racial Preservation Society, and he is quoted as saying during the trial that blacks are “worthless”. Other editors of the journal provided testimony for the defense in Brown vs. Board of Education, and others are members eugenics movements. In fact, one member of the editorial board took part in the race science under Hitler during Nazi Germany’s rise to power.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:38 pmbrayker @ 28: Nice try. This typical rethuglican tactic isn’t going to wash this time. First, Reid is on the list for getting donations from Indian tribes, not from Abramoff. Considering he’s the Senator for NV, that’s really no suprise and it’s legal. 2nd, I’m thinking that “They’re as bad as us!” is going to be as suuccessful for the Republicans as “At least I’m not a Republican” was for the Democrats. Recent polls show huge gains in Democratic popularity in recent weeks, so I’m guessing thatthe unwashed (as the Rethugs view them) are figuring they been had and are gonna throw the bums out.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:39 pmPodesta shouldn’t have let him get away with it,
January 6th, 2006 at 6:39 pmbut, Oh Well.
Catch his “opponent”? Looked like a mortician to me.
Creep-ola!
Chrissy Matthews is just an asskisser for G.E. and a bigger asslicker for the Bubble Boy administration.
I just wish John Podesta had spoken back at Chrissy by telling him if his statements are meant to get a job working for the Chimp King of America, then he’s close to succeeding.
Chrissy, what the f**k is with you?
January 6th, 2006 at 6:40 pmA REAL AMERICAN IS IN THE HOUSE. Respect, you liberal Kool-aid drinkers. Who gives a shit about how lavishly Tom DeLay lives? Is this really what you people sit around thinking about? If you are really concerned about the lavish lifestyles of our politicians, take a look at John Kerry. He and his crazy wife are worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Or Ted Kennedy. I don’t even need to say anything about him. The truth is, the elitest pukes you have running the your party, and contributing to your party, are some of the weathiest people in the country.

“How about we just say, let the accused be tried fairly, and the guily [sic] be punished, regardless of their connections.”
If you re-read my post, that is exactly what I did say. Unfortunately, Judd never says that. He only says “How about we just say, let the accused REPUBLICANS be tried fairly, and the guilty be punished, regardless of their connections.” My point is that this won’t solve anything; it will only shift the corruption back to the Democrats.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:41 pmHave John Kerry or Ted Kennedy been indicted?
Didn’t think so.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:42 pmGee chris, you’re starting to sound like that little cockroach from crawford. If Tom Delays life style is middle class, then i can shoot pool with a rope.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:42 pm#47-
January 6th, 2006 at 6:44 pmThey SHOULD be indicted for tax evasion. Kerry and Kennedy rail against the so called “tax cuts for the rich”, yet they use every loop-hole they can find to avoid paying what they should. Hippocrites.
#44 doesn’t read too well, does s/he? Or, should I say, at all? Too busy regurgitating talking points utterly shredded oh, 10 or so posts before s/he posted.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:44 pmso IRI, do you get the Mankind Quarterly?
January 6th, 2006 at 6:44 pmYou say the people are losers because you equate as the racist posted before this one, have you ever thought IRI that many people dont want your money or your materialistic ways, many grow up wishing to be teachers, firemen, or policemen or artists. They full well realize what money is, and that money has no correlation to thinking, or not thinking as case may be.
That is your mind is no better than say a Dogs, because you put Silk Underwear on doesnt make you smarter does it?
Your decorating a tree, really, arent you?
BSR,
If the Dems were corrupt, at least they knew how to govern the country. The R’s are corrupt and bad at governing. Just saying.

Foundation for Fascism: the New Eugenics Movement in the United States, Patterns of Prejudice
Foundation for Fascism: the New Eugenics Movement in the United States, Patterns of Prejudice, vol. 23, no. 4. 1989 by BARRY MEHLER
Andrew Winston on Rushton [link: http://www.ferris.edu/isar/archives/rushton/
At the January 1989 meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science a little-known psychologist from the University of Western Ontario delivered a paper(1) at a symposium on evolution and political theory. That paper caused a major international uproar.(2) This article outlines the background to the paper’s author and his connection to the right wing eugenic organizations, Mankind Quarterly and the Pioneer Fund [link: http://www.ferris.edu/isar/Institut/pioneer/.
J. Philippe Rushton, a John Simon Guggenheim Fellow with an impressive publication history, explained that data show Asians and whites to be different and, by implication, superior to blacks. Orientals and whites have evolved into races that are allegedly more intelligent, family oriented and law-abiding than Negroes. According to this explanation, the Negro race is, on the whole, smaller brained, slower to mature, less sexually restrained and more aggressive than its white and Asian cousins. Yet the use of a tripartite division of races into white, black and yellow has been widely discredited by biologists and anthropologists.(3)

Wow. Wonder what they’d think about the latest news that white skin is the mutation…! Yep. White is a mutation of our original skin pigment, black.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:46 pmSo we’re the ones that look different!
Incredible.
” My point is that this won’t solve anything; it will only shift the corruption back to the Democrats. Blue State Red”
You make such dramatic conclusions without the aid reason or logic. It’s really quite impressive. Do you write for Hannity, because this kind of talent for being able to make up fictional conclusions really is the mark of fiction.
Last time I checked, getting rid of crooked politician did a lot, it was called law enforcement. I’m not surprised you don’t care about laws, or their enforcement however. It’s the current culture that your party seems to thrive on, and why you keep getting arrested.
See, some of us actually value our constitution, our laws, and their enforcement – but you don’t seem to share those beliefs. Too bad. I bet you mean well, but you sure don’t seem to have any morals whatsoever.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:47 pmAnd then comes back with post #47 to again cling to the irrelevant. Lest we all forget, the topic of this thread is Tweety’s comments on Tom DeLay. That would make Kennedy, uh, off-topic. And Kerry. And – sorry – this business about racism, however well-intended.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:47 pmBlue State Red @ 46: Oh, NOW you want to clean up corruption in Washington. Again, the voters are on to the Rethuglicans, troll. While ther may be some ethical issues witht he way money is transferred between lobbyists and congresscritters, let’s stick to the ones that are STRICTLY illegal, like bribery. How many Democrats have been accused of being bribed? How many Republicans? How many of the bribers were uber-conservative lobbyists? How many of those being caught in the net are K-street project (goes without saying conservative) cronies What, I couldn’t hear you?
Typical troll tactics, confuse, obfuscate, redirect the issue. I’d stick to distancing myself from the ones going who are probably going to jail, instead of getting on my high horse about possibly hinky practices in Washington, cuz I suspect that u can’t handle the truth about that one. And besides, it just seems churlish.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:48 pmA REAL ASSHOLE-
#44
Must be all the cocaine you sniffed along with the Chimp King that makes you think that lying, cheating and stealing and killing innocents is the American Way!
Kerry, by the way is married to the widow of a Republican senator who was Pro-environment and was the heir of several food products for which I am still proud to buy from. And she had a personality, especially when she told a biased republican journalist to “Shove it.” She was no Barbie doll
as you trolls would like her to be.
We care because we don’t like it when people like Delay lie, steal and cheat to get rich and try to play God by destroying Congress.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:51 pmGood points, Larry at 57. While Rep. politicians are presently employing a 2-part strategy: a)distancing themselves from Abramoff/DeLay, and b)pointing fingers at Dems., my hunch is as this scandal plays out, they’ll concentrate more on a than b. After all, it’s easier to return/donate money than argue with the facts that aren’t on their side.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:53 pmSaw the show and that weasel who invoked the name of George Soros as an example of Democrats corruption, the fact that the Tweety DIDN’T even say “What about Scaife?” to that burp shows that the guy is so deluded ( I’m an objective pundit)and wrapped up in the Beltway Whore World he can’t earn his check properly. Olberman is the only guy on the entire network who earns his money. I t would be best if they gave the entire news division to him and his production staff and devote the rest of the hours to old reruns of Lost in Space where the other prime timers are.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:54 pmThese last two points are where TP is letting its readers down. Treating this as a purely and exclusively Republican scandal won’t do anything to clean up the problem. At best, it will only affect which party receives the most corrupt attention from the corrupters. If that is TP’s only goal, then it, too, is corrupt.
Comment by Blue State Red
Well said Red but I’d like to point out that this exercise is purely from the perspective of a party that has lost power and wishes to regain it, by any means. I’m afraid there are very few here on “I Think I Hate Bush” or on either side in the halls of power that are really concerned with the problem of corruption itself. That is so because corruption is an indispensable tool of power and it is integral to humanity.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:55 pmWhy can’t the mod dems and mod gop form a super party? Just throw the current criminals in the slammer and start with a government-wide “gang of 14″.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:55 pmIs this illogical?
one other point about Kerry/Kennedy:
Who tries to get minimum wage increased every year?
Who shoots it down every year?
At least they work for the people, assbag.
January 6th, 2006 at 6:55 pmSorry. I’m usually clean here, but that threw me over the edge….
“That is so because corruption is an indispensable tool of power and it is integral to humanity.”

That’s really funny, because that describes Republicans in the mid 70s and early 90s. You’re chronicling your own history here, and projecting your own insecurities.
“I’m afraid there are very few here on “I Think I Hate Bush†or on either side in the halls of power that are really concerned with the problem of corruption itself. That is so because corruption is an indispensable tool of power and it is integral to humanity. I-RIGHT-I ”
And you believe you’re moral? Weren’t you saying you were a Christian, because I remember Jesus saying that people must be pure and uncorrupt. How you simultaneously can say this, and claim Christianity is beyond comprehension. You clearly aren’t in touch with your own words, or reality for that matter.

Best description of Right-Wing ideology yet. Summary:
- The end justifies the means
- Corruption is good, unless you get caught
- If you get caught, use the excuse that everyone does it.
Ass Cheek-RIGHT-Ass Cheek, you and your ilk are pathetic if you truly believe that blather.
January 6th, 2006 at 7:03 pmMy demure silver haired mother who abhors curse words and is reminiscent of June Cleaver in manner said that Tom Delay has one of those faces… “You know”, she said, “the kind that makes you want to punch”. Now, even passive little old ladies are wanting to beat him up. Can’t be a good sign…

January 6th, 2006 at 7:07 pmIRI @ 61: “That is so because corruption is an indispensable tool of power and it is integral to humanity.” Projecting a bit there ain’t ya IRI?
And factually incorrect, methinks, as well. This particular scandal isn’t about a little soft money here, a little interpretation of McCain Feingold there, let’s send it up and see if the campaign commission shpoots it down, it’s about bribery and influence peddling! Not open to question ethics but breaking the law! And, last I checked, many, many people in Washington and the country have very little respect for thieves and soon-to-be convicts. The current movement by moderate conservatives to force Delay from a leadership position (see today’s news) also proves that this is not only from the party not currently in power.
Look up “apologist” While you are at it look up “shill” and “partisan hack”. Troll.

Larry the Urbanite / theorajones: Watch your bloody friendly fire, if you’d realized what I was saying I was actually putting a knife in Blue State Red’s assertion that TP was unbalanced and ignoring democratic misdeeds is unfounded, as evidenced by the fact that, and pay attention here, even though ‘the liberals’ feel Reid is in the clear he’s still on the list and we’re still willing to have him looked at.
I understand your anger, I’m right there with you, but please make sure you have your ducks in a row before you retort. All of our arguments must be made on the solidest of foundations.
January 6th, 2006 at 7:08 pmAnd you believe you’re moral? Weren’t you saying you were a Christian, because I remember Jesus saying that people must be pure and uncorrupt. How you simultaneously can say this, and claim Christianity is beyond comprehension. You clearly aren’t in touch with your own words, or reality for that matter.

What did Delay do to warrant such an extravagance?

January 6th, 2006 at 7:17 pmWhat was with the Ed Rogers hit and run on Podesta’s character? I thought for a second that Matthews was really going to slap him down, but instead he stopped mid-sentence and just asked Podesta to explain why it wasn’t true.

January 6th, 2006 at 7:20 pmAt the end of the day Matthews is just an entertainer. Like Reagan was. He throws out opinions like they were facts. I think it’s really the only way he can distinguish himself from the riff raff. He’s become a spare.

January 6th, 2006 at 7:24 pmHey, Real American, #44, that’s telling these “liberal Kool-aid drinkers” off. I like the reference to the very rich and wealthy John Kerry. And throwing in Ted Kennedy was a good take. Ordinarily, us rightwingers would mention Bill Clinton, but unlike George and DeLay, grew up poor so he doesn’t fit well here. And that low crack about “elitest
pukes” was a real choker!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but when you saylitest pukes, and then think about all the corruption, scandal, lies, money laundering, bribes, and deception you just naturally think of poor old Tom DeLay and his republican dog pack. I mean, why is that?
I don’t want to shit in your cowboy hat, Amerikan, but do you suppose that maybe, just MAYBE, REAL AMERICAN’s are getting fed up with it? And and don’t it just frost your pasty white ass that it is happening just in time for the 2006 elections? Heh, Heh! I mean, as a rightwinger myself, it sure pisses me off so I’m not really laughing.

January 6th, 2006 at 7:38 pmTeddy “the Swimmer”, John Kerry, Jay Rockefeller, Herb Kohl, Jon Corzine, Hillary Clinton, Dianne Feinstein, John Edwards – a fine pack of Democrat hypocrites……

January 6th, 2006 at 7:40 pmJust because you visit really rich areas doesn’t mean you live like a rich person
January 6th, 2006 at 7:40 pmI’ll confess to not having read all 100+ comments here, but I just don’t understand how anyone can get on Matthews’ case for this? He doesn’t get it. This wasn’t kissing up or a sham on his part. He and Russert and many other elitest media types believe fully in the myth of the Republican common-man that is epitomized by Bush and other GOPers. These rich media types largely come from middle-to-lower middle class backgrounds and feel guilty that they now live the high life. So they latch on to the common-man Republicans and “Joe Sixpack”. And all of this is a sham, as the Republicans were always the party of the rich (or at least since the abolition issue was settled); but they’ve really bought into the myth and hold it dear to them. They’re not really Republicans, but they’ve latched on to the Republican myth, and it’s hard to shake off.
But overall, this isn’t deception on Matthews part. He really does believe that Delay is a simple middle-class guy. And the sooner we internalize that and start to address those absurd ideas, the sooner the Matthews and Russerts will be to seeing reality.
January 6th, 2006 at 7:40 pmGary Ruppert,
Are you trying to say DeLay isn’t rich? Your right wing buddies don’t agree with you one bit. I don’t think anybody would argue that DeLay isn’t rich. BECAUSE THAT ISN”T THE GODDAMN ISSUE HERE.
January 6th, 2006 at 7:41 pmAttn: 108, if you’re still conscious: And, once again, someone who didn’t bother to read previous posts to discover that – guess what – Kennedy, Kerry, et. al. are not germaine to this discussion.
As I said many, many posts ago: wait til Tweety mentions them. Then we’ll talk.
Or not. Some trolls never learn.
January 6th, 2006 at 7:43 pmTaco Bell isn’t actual mexican food.
January 6th, 2006 at 7:44 pmThe concern is not who is rich, but that

The other concern is who pays for the lifestyle
and what they get in return.

As usual, you have failed to read the topic of the thread. This is not about Delay’s lavish lifestyle; we know he lives it. It’s about the hypocritical attempt at depicting his life as that of a “regular middle class person”
and, Judd, lets examine the lifestyles (as well as the hotel stays and golf dates) of:
Teddy ‘the Swimmer’, John Kerry, Jay Rockefeller, Herb Kohl, Jon Corzine, Hillary Clinton, Dianne Feinstein, John Edwards – a fine pack of Democrat hypocrites…
Unlike Tom Delay’s, these people’s hotel stays, golfing dates, and overall lifestyle were not paid with bribe monies.
You can look at their expenses all you want, but until you show evidence that they paid for all this with ill-obtained funds, you are going nowhere with your feeble attempt at changing the subject.

Dear Dr. Bio says – “as the Republicans were always the party of the rich” – thank you repeating a common urban myth. While Repub’s have traditionally backed business and the poor shlub “everyman” relied on the unions and Dems for “everything good in life”, the irony is the number of millionaires in the Congress with inherited or married $$$. When stupidly discussing Repubs – you might want to note that the majority of Repubs EARNED their $$$. One of my fave antagonists says the snobs who’ve inherited are less likely to steal – who knows?? But they are less likely to appreciate the effort of earning.

January 6th, 2006 at 8:07 pmHey, True Blue! That statement in #102 about middle class americans not being able to afford a round of golf in Scotland got me to check it out. DeLay was at St. Andrews for his free stay with Jack Abramoff so this is what I found out:
A round of golf on the Old Course is $210.
Three nights lodging at nearby Rufflets is $927.
Airfare for me (I won’t even take a gal with me) $3033.00
Meals and tips for three days about 350.00
Walking around money and club rentals about 300.00
Correct me if I’m wrong, but that comes to about $4820 before taxes for just one person. And for only three days. I mean, what did Chris Matthews say about good old Tom DeLay? He lives basically like a middle class person?
I guess Chris Matthews has lived too high on the hog at MSNBC with all those big paychecks he gets. He is about as out of touch as that prick in the White House.
January 6th, 2006 at 8:08 pmGus, watching the likes of the wackos here is just to much fun!! The bean counters you work with remind me of the corrupt union thugs – they do get off on power!! But have you noticed how one must never stray off the progressive reservation – chris Matthews was a staffer for Tip O’Neill and he ain’t no Republican.

He’ll always remember it.
And go figure, HE was a FEDERAL employee himself..!

January 6th, 2006 at 8:18 pmGus – I KNOW facts don’t interest you when discussing inherited $$ v. earned $$. Everyone has different capabilities. Bless your heart, I won’t hold it against you.
January 6th, 2006 at 8:20 pmMighty aphrodite, how you doing? You know, I was just sitting here holding my crank and thinking about Masculine vs Feminine words. Like sleazeball and sleazebag. Lemme give you a take:
Correct me if I’m wrong, but if you are talking about Tom DeLay, you wouldn’t say “sleazebag”. It is more appropriate and fitting when mentioning Tim DeLay’s name to say “sleazeball.” On the other hand, if you are thinking about Ann Coulter, you naturally think “sleazebag”.
Hey, did you see the very latest AP-Ipsos poll released today? The voters are leaning sharply toward giving the democrats control of congress in November. They favor democrats 49% vs 36% for Repugs. I mean, does that just piss our right wing asses off, or what?
January 6th, 2006 at 8:24 pmTrue Blue, I miss calculated in #130. Three rounds of of golf was $630 so the total, minus taxes and caddy and extras, was $5240. For one. For three days. And cheap meals and draft beer out of a pitcher.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I ought to run for office so I can live like the rest of the “middle class Americans” Chris Matthews was talking about.

I know this, mighty. I don’t identify with rich people. Delay probably doesn’t either (although I’ll bet he has quite a stash, somewhere). These are the false choices we have. January 6th, 2006 at 8:35 pmKerry lives within his means, on his or his spouses money. Delay is a crook and a swindler, big difference, i-troll-i
See, this just proves Republicans and those who jealously fellate them hoping for a small gesture of largesse don’t see any difference between money earned/inherited vs money stolen. It’s all the same to them.
And uh, I-WRONG-I, do you think Kerry’s lifestyle WASN’T brought up during the ‘04 campaign? Idiot.
January 6th, 2006 at 8:39 pmYeah, True Blue, on any other friday night I would be down at the bar washing down hardboiled eggs and pickled pigs feet with a pitcher of froth, but not tonight. Leaving in a few minutes with a bud to go catch “jarhead” down at the dollar theatre.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but that pic in #142 by M. Duchamp looks like the skank I got drunk with last weekend. I mean, don’t those crazy eyes kind of remind you of Ann Coulter’s?
Bye.
January 6th, 2006 at 8:41 pmI don’t know that I would be very comfortable eating as Kerr’y house, I guess. My wife and I used to drive by the rich houses until one day we decided it was not for us even if we did have the money.
January 6th, 2006 at 8:43 pmI don’t imagine Delay would feel much differently. He was a damn bug killer, after all. Delay is tried and true bonifide white trash. His cash is in a brown paper bag in the back yard(alot of cash).
You are a funny one, Joe.

Or perhaps if he got blow jobs in the Oral Office, oops – I meant Oval Office, like Clinton – well then would he be more in touch with middle class America?
Perhaps he could lie about his military service and fake wounds to abandon his “Brothers in Arms” in Vietnam like Kerry. Lots of “common folk” are doing that in Iraq right now, right?

Fox, whose personal wealth has been pegged at more than $500 million, hosted a record-setting Washington fundraiser in 2000 that took in $21 million. Earlier, Fox flew to Austin to meet with Bush in early 1999 along with three other Missouri Pioneers: Adele Hall, Stephen Brauer and John Mahaffey. [[Fox was among 22 wealthy business leaders whom President Bush, who calls this donor “Foxie,†invited to lunch in 2001 to discuss his tax cut for the rich. Thanks for the psych exam, True Blue, but I’ve been in enough rich people’s homes to know that there aint a whole lot to gabble about. And generally it is because of a personality flaw with the rich person. Perhaps Kerry is different. He did fight in Viet Nam. Perhaps he and I could talk about that.
January 6th, 2006 at 8:56 pmLeave, return, and #131’s still at the irrelevancies and deceptions. Tip O’Neill? He’s turning in his grave (and why not-at-all-Mighty failed to mention the Carter administration is beyond me, but why give him ammunition). Likewise the “no Republican” canard. Except, of course, Tweety voted for Bush, as he readily admitted on air.
Too much fun you say you’re havin’” How about you’re too easy?
January 6th, 2006 at 8:57 pmGordon the Magnificent,
OOOH! A new Troll!
January 6th, 2006 at 8:58 pmLet’s see,…
a Narcissist, for sure – check the name…!
Anyone else?
Delay lived like a regular person in Chris Matthews social circle.
Please understand Chris Matthews and his Media Elite friends, people like Andrea Mitchell, Tim Russert, Cokie Roberts, all make millions a year and live the high life.
January 6th, 2006 at 8:58 pmLaugh,
January 6th, 2006 at 8:59 pmWould we find this cash in Delay’s back yard, perchance?
Oh, Gawd, 149 drags in more off-topic myths, with nary a mention of Tom their hero. The cons are desperate, as usual.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:00 pmGus,
January 6th, 2006 at 9:01 pmNo offense.
I’ve been in rich people’s homes, too.
But at the end of the day they are just regular people (not the corrupt ones).
That’s the only point I wanted to make.
Just a person. Rich. Poor. No one is any better than anyone else.
Sorry if I offended you.
“Where Republicans tread, innocent people end up dead.”
Kinda like in Vietnam when the Democrats immersed America in a War that cost the lives of 58,000 American Servicemen. Do you need a body count on the enemy?
January 6th, 2006 at 9:02 pmContinuation of 161… and Nixon and co. lied their asses off about Cambodia.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:05 pm“The cons are desperate, as usual.”
Desperate for what? Three more years?
January 6th, 2006 at 9:06 pm“and Nixon and co. lied their asses off about Cambodia.”
Specifics? Proof?
Cambodia? Isn’t that another lie Kerry got caught in? About the war crimes he claimed to have commited there one CHRISTmas eve?
January 6th, 2006 at 9:08 pmI like the way the ‘Intellectuals’, the No-Bels, such as gordon the magnificant, toss around words such as moonbats, but a read of elite guggenheim fellow elites shows them to be the ‘Moonbats’ read the ‘Bell Curve’ and eugenicists. Especially since i have never spoken of ghosts or spaceships nor mind control.

Laugh brings little more to the table than ad hom attacks since it’s incapable of presenting a counter-arguement unless it can copies and pastes MoveON.org talking points.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:14 pmDelay used that money to finance his masters wishes, If you would care to dig up Delays yard, then by all means, break a sweat. Laugh,

Conspiracy theories abound. Good work, Sherlock.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:16 pmWell, finally someone responds. No, silly 163, desperate for a legitimate defense of the indefensible. But you knew that.
And 3 years of what? Terms are 4 and 6 years. I must assume you’re referring to the 3 remaining years of your guy twisting in the wind, in waaay over his head, finally realizing it, and exposing his incompetence to all willing to realize it also who for whatever reason are yet to come to the unavoidable conclusion, who aren’t firmly entrenched in not admitting it lest they concede they’re as foolish as he is a fool. I’ll repeat what I said earlier: you’re too easy.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:16 pm166: wow. Pure projection and ungrammatical. A twofer.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:18 pm164. Don’t need no proof on this blog. You prove it with every post. Don’t make nam a Dem.only fiasco. You’ll get nailed.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:20 pm“164. Don’t need no proof on this blog. You prove it with every post. Don’t make nam a Dem.only fiasco. You’ll get nailed.’
Nailed? All I see is you floundering to stand behind your weak claims. Vietnam was a DEMOCRATIC party mistake. It cost the lives of 58,000 American Servicemen. I guess that body count means nothing to a liberal.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:23 pm170. Ashhole, did you have a point to make? I must have missed it.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:25 pmKeep saying it, Bud, until you believe it. Waay too easy. And DeLay – remember him? – is going waaay down.
Body count? Got that backward.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:26 pm“Keep saying it, Bud, until you believe it.”
Keep saying what? Are you able to present a counterpoint or do you just flap that cakehole of yours?
“And DeLay – remember him? – is going waaay down.”
And I should care? Delay’s a douche, I’m glad he’s gone.
“Body count? Got that backward.”
Got what backward? The liberals callous disregard for the fighting men and women of America?
January 6th, 2006 at 9:30 pmOooh, I did hit a nerve. Without half trying. Let’s see what we can do with your moniker. Nah. The irony of it speaks for itself. And who needs ad hominem tactics, when one needn’t resort to them. As in your effective leader is gonna wish he still had his modest home to sleep in much too soon. Anyone ever tell you you’re so unattractive when you get worked up?
January 6th, 2006 at 9:30 pmDeLay under the bus
January 6th, 2006 at 9:32 pmYup. Worked up. Angry. No longer having so much fun. Or was it your compatriot who said that. Distinction without a difference.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:32 pmThanks, after. I printed it out for full savoring. Hope that word “potentially” is a merely cautious one.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:34 pmOops Chimpy broke the law
But we all knew that didn’t we?
January 6th, 2006 at 9:35 pmAsh can’t present a counter-point. She can’t defend her claims.
Liberal radio. All talk. All the time.

from the neo-con fascists.
Hey. 15 minutes and…gibberish. You want points? The law caught up with him. That’s the topic and I’m staying on it.
Confusing a blog with a court of law. Priceless.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:53 pm“and Nixon and co. lied their asses off about Cambodia.”

Comment by Gordon the Magnificent — January 6, 2006 @ 9:08 pm
Richard Nixon told top aides involved in Vietnam to lie to the public about US operations in neighbouring Cambodia, files released in Washington show.
Nixon ordered Cambodia cover-up
Nixon ordered secret bombing campaign in Cambodia in March, 1969 (code-named Menu) to destroy what were believed to be the headquarters and large numbers of soldiers of the National Front for the Liberation of Vietnam.
Richard Nixon
Ten days ago, in my report to the Nation on Vietnam, I announced a decision to withdraw an additional 150,000 Americans from Vietnam over the next year.(…)
Tonight, American and South Vietnamese units will attack the headquarters for the entire Communist military operation in South Vietnam. This key control center has been occupied by the North Vietnamese and Vietcong for five years in blatant violation of Cambodia’s neutrality.

Wow, we’ve gone from blame Clinton to blame Kerry…

The Feds are reading our mail.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:55 pmHey Gregor,
Wow, we’ve gone from blame Clinton to blame Kerry…
ANYTHING to distract from commander codpiece.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:56 pmI love the first post in the blog found at Gordan the Magnificcents name link.
So, we can assume that his favorite blog is run by a guy that is a drinking mooch.
Also, if we read one of Gordan’s postings, from “Dog Snot Diaries” (I didn’t make it up):
We find that he is pissed that Lousiana banned Uncle Earl’s Hog-Dog Fights.
I am sorry, but this has got to be the lamest troll yet. I just can’t bring myself to even address this one. Will the US government just hire anybody to blog for them. Sheesh.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:57 pmDoesn’t matter what we think of Delay, well it does but as usual the pugs are going to eat their own.
January 7, 2006
Tom Delay eaten by Pugs.
Burp, next!
January 6th, 2006 at 9:57 pmFriendly advice: pretend you’ve got dinner to eat. At a fancy schmancy restaurant, if it implies a lavish lifestyle. A show to watch. A con radio program, or a liberal one, since I DON’T GET THEM IN MY MARKET. A movie. Anything. Declare victory and leave. You don’t even have to make a point, much less a counter-point, first.
DeLay is history. His own party can no longer afford to support him. Go to a con website where you can pretend that’s bs. You stay here, and you’re gonna wish you were he. Really. I can make it that…difficult.
January 6th, 2006 at 9:59 pm`Alexander Strategy Group is really part of DeLay Inc. and Abramoff Inc.,” said Melanie Sloan, a former federal prosecutor who now heads Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, an ethics watchdog group. “There have been some aggressive prosecutors trying to unravel those ties. I am sure that Alexander Strategy is going to have more than Tony Rudy as a problem when this is over.”
January 6th, 2006 at 10:01 pmf course, our friends at GroupW were very generous when it came to handing out money to Alexander
Thanks, Gregor. I was too lazy to dig up the evidence. And frankly, the guy wasn’t worth it. That you took the effort, well, I appreciate it. You’re the furthest removed from a cockroach I can imagine.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:03 pmYeah, kinda spare for a troll. All the real trolls are too depressed, I think. This clown’s trying to plug his site.

January 6th, 2006 at 10:06 pmYou guys are brave to go to a troll’s site.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:07 pmI will only visit them when I am using a Linux
machine as I expect to catch a nasty virus otherwise.
Maybe even “chickenhawk flu”.
Sixty percent of what Chris Matthews says is crap.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:09 pm“I love the first post in the blog found at Gordan the Magnificcents name link.”
I love watching moonbats fall on their face. This douche bag attempts to insult me while he can’t even spell my name. Too bad GW’s “No Child Left Behind” policy wasn’t in effect when he attended school.
“So, we can assume that his favorite blog is run by a guy that is a drinking mooch.”
Apparently a person can’t run a blog if they like to have a beer. And you moonbats think Delay is out of touch with middle-class america? Pot meet kettle.
“We find that he is pissed that Lousiana banned Uncle Earl’s Hog-Dog Fights.”
Not only does he struggle to spell my name, but he can’t get the facts straight. How the hell am I pissed over Lousiana’s law?
Certainly you can better than this Spudgeboy?
January 6th, 2006 at 10:10 pmDoug: Yuck. Couldn’t stomach more than scanning the article. But it’s tough to resist commenting on how goony he looks – the unflattering shorts, the foolish grin. How did it take so long for the law to catch up with him? Oh, right. Republican majority.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:11 pm#196: don’t you love it? (no, not you, the sane posters).A substanceless post. And it only took how long to cut and paste?
January 6th, 2006 at 10:13 pmOh-oh Spudge,
I think you made Gourdo angry.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:13 pmDave, you deserve your own TV show. Slight correction, tho: with Matthews it’s more like 75%.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:14 pmhave you of you ever noticed, besides me, why delays face is always so sweaty — as if some kind of alien nurse did him a facial and contorted a twisted smile into his face?
January 6th, 2006 at 10:16 pm“Oh-oh Spudge,
I think you made Gourdo angry.”
Angry? I’m laughing at him. Of course, that red spot on his face is from the bitchslap I delivered.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:19 pm#202,
I think it is from inhaling too much
January 6th, 2006 at 10:19 pmmalathion.
malathion
January 6th, 2006 at 10:20 pmWhen they say they’re laughing, they’re angry. And flummoxed. Count on it.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:26 pmLet’s take a look at John “Cabaña Boy†Kerry’s expenses shall we? I won’t hold my breath.
All of the arguments like this are so stupid. Has anyone in the press ever said that Kerry was “lives basically, like a regular middle class person. He doesn’t live well at all”?
The point of this post is not that living well is wrong. The problem is that that Chris Matthews is a jibbering idiot with no principles.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:26 pm“#196: don’t you love it? (no, not you, the sane posters).A substanceless post. And it only took how long to cut and paste?”
Love what? Outdebating Brownshirt moonbats and bitchslapping them in the process?
Sure, i love it.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:27 pmbut seriously, if i may, can a man, humanly speaking, act as a hammer, an anvil, and walk around everywhere dripping of sweat, red faced — ready to explode– smiling like santa and not be thinking ‘who am i?’
January 6th, 2006 at 10:27 pmAnd don’t forget the references to violence. Sooner or later, cons always fall back on that. Lack of brainpower, don’t you know.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:27 pmYes, Dave, and that living well need not entail criminal behavior.

January 6th, 2006 at 10:29 pm#207,
The problem is that that Chris Matthews is a jibbering idiot with no principles.
Ah yes, but we already had ample evidence of this
January 6th, 2006 at 10:29 pmdidn’t we?
Anybody see that cigar magazine article on Rush
where he talks about $200 cigars and $2000 bottles
of wine? Now there is a real blue-collar hero
if I ever saw one.
Oh yeah, and a drug addict too.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:32 pmAt least he doesn’t have a falafel
fetish like O-Reilly.
remember: ‘what do you mean — no smoking! do you know who i am’
question is, was he really being rhetorical?
January 6th, 2006 at 10:32 pmafterthough,
Who gives a crap about him. He says I can’t get his name right.
Check it:
He says:
Spudgeboy
My name:
SpudgeBoy
Yeah, he bitch slapped me alright.
I like how he calls me a brownshirt, which is a reference to Nazis, who were in fact conservatives.
So, with this math, I am a liberal-conservative.
I will vote repulocrat next election.
I will be a middle winger.
Go Purple!
January 6th, 2006 at 10:34 pm#215,
Oh yeah, I remember DeLay saying that.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:36 pmFunny how the law is SO selective to the
“law and order” crowd isn’t it?
“Anybody see that cigar magazine article on Rush…”
No, but perhaps they should do one on Clinton and their “other” uses he’s found for them. You think, Ash?
January 6th, 2006 at 10:36 pmmr. gordon “the low I.Q.ed” – nixon ran in ‘68 and won by promising to get us out of Viet Nam immediately. Most casualties in nam happened after tricky dick reneged on his promise, and we ended up with another 7 years(!) in country.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:38 pmYeah, nam was sure a dem thing, all right. And by the way, the massive bombings in Cambodia were most illegal.
Oh look, back to Clinton, the last refuge
January 6th, 2006 at 10:38 pmof a neo-con with nothing to say.
Hey, more power to him, it is better than
smoking the nasty things.
Ooh, profanity. (It’s the tell.) I suppose you’re laughing uncontrollably at your wit, your wisdom, your cleverness, your – I repeat – desperation. PS It’s “defensible,” so thanks for proving my point. POINT. When I got the point, don’t need no counterpoint. One word.
Isn’t it time for dinner?
January 6th, 2006 at 10:42 pmBig, bad man threatening with phallic symbol. But he’s not mad. He hasn’t been had.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:44 pmWhy do liberals feel the need to brainwash their children?
Could I have some kool-aid with that mommy?
http://littledemocrats.net/
January 6th, 2006 at 10:47 pmin politics i question if there is law and order; its more a chimera. justice will always be selective to powerful people.
i still think this fool has a deep, deep twisted facial fedish of somekind — he sooo clean looking in a stereotypical white way that you know he wants sex w the pillsbury dough boy.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:47 pm#221,
I had missed Gourdo’s post with that
January 6th, 2006 at 10:48 pmlanguage and horrible spelling before.
Seems like some true colors are showing.
Maybe a few too many beers to post coherently.
Best to head over to the right-wing blogs where
nobody will notice if you are drunk and
irrational.
BTW my male liberal friends: you know what the conman’s greatest fear is, don’t you? A woman who isn’t compliant, passive, recessive. She’s more threatening, psychologically, than Arnold in his body-building days. Why? It’s the Pappy Finn Syndrome: gotta be better than somebody. While another guy is another guy, a woman isn’t supposed to be strong in any sense of the word, to his antiquated way of thinking. Which is why he’s coming after me, with the sexual crap, natch, more nastily than you.

Will someone cuddle here, she’s upset and needs your support – your strength.
January 6th, 2006 at 10:59 pmOh no! Is Delay going to have to use those cheap whores now?
No fair.
January 6th, 2006 at 11:00 pmHah. You’re the proof that keeps on proving. PS. I used the “nerve” term first. That would make you a thief, sexual orientation notwithstanding.
January 6th, 2006 at 11:01 pm“Spoogeboy”
Oooo, and he is original too.
Please everybody save me from the scary NeoCon.
January 6th, 2006 at 11:01 pmHey, does Tom have a wife? Should we tell her that he’s Bubba’s bitch now and she’ll just have to wait?
January 6th, 2006 at 11:01 pmi dont think so. he can still get skin free from people like malkin or coulter … they would be perfect for each other … blood, sweat, lies and power.
January 6th, 2006 at 11:03 pmHey Gourdo,
You want to tell us about the Hog-Dog fights?
January 6th, 2006 at 11:05 pmNever heard of those before and I grew up
in the country, but not Arkansas.
BTW, you can’t spell “dyke” either.
Hi, Doug. Not sure I agree with her about men being unnecessary. Of course, I’ve got no book with an enticing title to sell. In fact, my husband (a cover for my dykeness?) wouldn’t be too pleased with me if I felt that way. Really, what is it about these cons who always wind up substituting sexual jabs for real argument. I guess they’ve got no point to make.
January 6th, 2006 at 11:05 pmI don’t think Bubba will approve of Malkin and Coulter..
Tom is Bubba’s bitch now.
January 6th, 2006 at 11:05 pmTom Delay doesn’t live his life like the average middle class American.
As Delay put it in his own defense, “people hate the messenger. That’s why they killed Christ.”
The similarities between Jesus and Tom Delay are striking…

You’d know.
January 6th, 2006 at 11:12 pmSee that? He bypassed you guys, proving…and proving…and proving…my point. It’s the women who will get him every time. Not even pretending to be amused anymore.
January 6th, 2006 at 11:13 pmi thiink theyll rationalize anything to promote their heavenly idealized ideology and in the process lose their own identity. this explains why delay face is so fuc*ing wierd: hes in the mirror so much that its overdone w excessive neurosis hostility. which explains also the wierd face of malkin on here blog — over done). and ann oh my god … she needs help.
and delays wife wow got to be into leather.
January 6th, 2006 at 11:14 pmGourdo seems like a real catch.

tremendously.
Tom Delay deserves more money. Cut him some slack, he’s just a dumb Texas hick with a penchant for some mo’ money.
January 6th, 2006 at 11:17 pmSusan-

Jon Stewart isn’t on tonight. But we will watch him hosting the Oscars.
January 6th, 2006 at 11:19 pmI think DeLay just doesn’t know how to smile without looking as evil as he is. And twisted. He has to practice to look normal and not scare away people with hearts and souls. As for his wife, Christine, who’ve I’ve seen at a hearing, she has unusually, I mean severely, short hair – make of it what you will – which might compliment nicely a dominatrix get-up. Come to think of it, her smile is a bit ghoulish as well. Maybe from living with him.
January 6th, 2006 at 11:21 pm248. Nope. Your move.
January 6th, 2006 at 11:22 pmWhere are the better trolls tonight?
January 6th, 2006 at 11:23 pmMaybe IRI will get back from his/her

Never ask a question you don’t want answered. Not even, especially, a rhetorical one.

Because you non-trolls are such a great group to hang out with, you more than compensate for the guy with nothing to say. Who can only repeat himself and, really, it’s like playing tennis with someone who can’t even play. I’m thinking we should let him say something really stupid, with all kinds of sexual garbage, nasty as it is pathetic, refuse to respond, and let him leave out of frustration. He can reinforce his bruised ego elsewhere and we can go back to making fun of the hapless Matthews, who so deserves it even more than the hopeless troll.

#242, etc… the numerous posts of Gordo the Malevolent
You’re one to talk Gordo. You have yet to post anything of relevance or consequence on this discussion thread. If you have something of value to say, say it. I have yet to see evidence of your self-described “debating skills.†You’re a grade A nincompoop, and judging from your posts on this thread, that is where your core competency lies.
As for Chris Matthews, he’s a serial misleader. The Daily Howler (Bob Somersby’s excellent site) contains numerous, often hilarious posts concerning this powdered poodle.
January 6th, 2006 at 11:36 pmOne of the funniest comments I read about Pat, or was it Jerry, or James, or whomever, they’re basically interchangeable, is that when he does die, and meets his maker, God or Jesus is going to greet him with these words: “You know what you’ve been saying about me? How you’ve been representing me? Speaking for me? It’s not what I meant.”

As for your opinion on what a female should be, I guess you’ve never noticed that it’s the female lions who hunt for prey, and clearly you’ve never seen a mother bear defend her young (or a mother for that matter). This kind of ungrounded and to use your words psycho-babble is typical of beta-males who can’t actually succeed with women. Their own ‘weakness’ makes them fear women who are strong, and therefore they project their own weaknesses on an idealized female, that usually resides only in video games trapped in a tower. Why the homophobia and misogyny? Is it self hate, or just a fear of the unknown? Republicans always have the darndest opinions on things they know nothing about. When is your book on the female gender hitting the stores. You seem to have so much to offer, I’m curious, how does your mother find your profound works.

January 6th, 2006 at 11:41 pmAgreed, after, if you’re still here. Those one-liners were far from pithy. And M., Somerby also called him part of the perfumed press corp(s), if I recall. His webmaster, one Dominic Bellone, shut down his (Bellone’s) email address after the smart remark about leftwing extremists not liking Bush. Coincidence, or could it be he was deluged by responses from some of the 56% of Americans who think Bush is a miserable excuse for a “leader” ?

Proof of that statement? A poll perhaps?
January 6th, 2006 at 11:49 pmRight: I love when the projectionists use the word “projection,” as if they even know what it means. It’s like a double negative. As for men who fear women, as I forgot to mention in a previous post, that’s why there are burkas. Not familiar with Mighty, but it strikes me that the butchy Rep. females actually imagine themselves as damsels in distress rescued by allegedly strong male stereoptypes as our own Gordo whoever. They talk tough but present themselves as overly feminized creatures. Huh, just realized I’ve described Coulter.

More projection and lack of self-worth.
Is this a blog or a network support group for the insecure?

January 7th, 2006 at 12:02 amDon’t waste your time with Gordo. When he made the statement: “Is this a blog or a network support group for the insecure?” He painted himself into a corner, for either he’s here because he’s insecure and in need of our support, or he’s here to beat-up on us poor helpless souls because he’s too weak to fight a “strong” opponent. Either way, Gordo’s a broken doorbell.
And, Right, you know why, the misogyny and homophobia. He answered it himself via projection. It is insecurity, and almost by definition you can’t cure them. To do so, they have to admit they’re scared and weak, exactly what they’ve spent their lives telling themselves they’re not. Because those are feminine qualities. You mentioned the mother. She could have been emasculating. More often, it’s the bullying father (see: O’Reilly). It’s a downright epidemic, and extremely counterproductive in our society.

January 7th, 2006 at 12:07 amI know, M. Which is why I’m addressing myself to you guys now. He’s so furious he can’t produce more than swear words dressed up with a few verbs and conjunctions, give himself away with that priceless “insecurity,” and backtrack into tactics (like the sexual filth) that failed to work the first time around. Between the fact that we outnumber him – tho a smarter poster could hold his own – and my liberal nature, I’m starting to feel more compassion than repulsion. Which is exactly what his twisted mind does NOT want to evoke. As I said, too easy.

January 7th, 2006 at 12:12 amWhat was the topic of this discussion? Oh, yeah, DeLay, the middle-class, nice guy, as seen through the eyes of the average American Chris Matthews. And what did Mr. Scared-of-Liberals have to say about that? Who remembers, and who cares. Those who come here to reinforce their sagging egos deserve to receive precisely the opposite. If I don’t go now, I’ll be up all night. But it’s a great website. I’ll check back soon.

January 7th, 2006 at 12:17 amMatthews, like most of the television poodle pundits, is not paid to host reasoned debates, report news or conduct investigative journalism. Job number one for the modern day press (not withstanding a couple of exceptions, generally found on the printed page) is to entertain, titillate and sell advertising. The fact that Matthews, Russert, etc. have such an inflated sense of their own journalistic importance is laughable. The fact that there are people who actually trust and believe them is dangerous to our democracy.

I guess he’s not referring to himself since he also wrote “You’re a grade A nincompoop, and judging from your posts on this thread, that is where your core competency lies.”

January 7th, 2006 at 12:44 amWhy let fact get in your way when you are desperately trying to shift the attention from an indicted politician to one who is uninvolved in the current scandal in any way, and who paid his taxes anyway. Such a typical freeper tactict, invent a phony issue than yell in fake outrage…
Kerry reported a total 2003 income of $395,338. His total federal tax bill was $90,575. He had $27,277 of that withheld from his paychecks and paid the rest, $63,298, with his tax return.
Kerry reported giving $43,735, or about 11 percent of his total income, to charity.

January 7th, 2006 at 1:03 amGordon,
Projection is a psychological defence mechanism which means to state another person
is doing/saying what you are actually doing/saying. Denial is more widely used. Reaction formation is rare.
I am glad I became a behavioral health professional 12 years ago, I knew at the time that everything happening, especially with people, is all invented in the mind. This site is a battleground for psychological warfare, wars themselves are more dependent on what people think about them than the physical weapons. Government is most dependent upon what people think. It all boils down to what you can get people to think.
PS. you really are magnificent, in your own mind.
January 7th, 2006 at 1:08 amNow Gordon is going to spew some attack, and avoid any real talking point.
January 7th, 2006 at 1:09 amNow that I look at the numbers, it doesn’t look THAT bad, not what I was imagining in my head. He obviously went through some excess on the expense of lobbying groups, but the numbers aren’t mind boggling.
For 6 years I could have imagined a lot more.
January 7th, 2006 at 1:10 am$200 average? After living in nyc for 4 years I wouldn’t be suprised, most business take out their clients for dinner and drinks on par with that. Tubular Bell. The Word ‘Tubular’ doug james, might this also be a Taurus, in shape? Made of Sound, Echoing as a Bell might ring thru Space and time? Now the Bull is this a baal? and if it rings does it vibrate? Socrates says motion is thought, as in Thales and the magnet, magi. The Soul in the magnet. Ring any Bells?

January 7th, 2006 at 1:41 amHey, it’s winding down. Gordo Gekko give up yet? No? I was thinking, what would attract a guy like him to a website named ThinkProgress. I mean, progress is exactly what he doesn’t want. Progress means equality – for women, for minorities, for gays. What GG wants is a return to the days when girls were girls and men were men, and it’s not a matter of syllables filling the line in the song (or it would be girls and boys), it’s the gender that remains a child vs. the one who gets to be an adult.
GG is like the gambler who keeps placing one final bet, the one that will recoup all the lost money. When he finally gives up, he grabs his wife’s arm, and shuttles her home, or to the hotel room, and beats on her for making him lose. Only our GG’s money is dignity, and apparently he’s got no one to beat up (witness his staying here so long). Instead he thinks that one more post will defeat us, or force us to come to our senses – his senses – and when he grows too groggy to continue, he pretends he’s won and throws his parting shot, grumbles to himself, and emerges unscathed.
By which I mean manages to learn absolutely nothing about himself. And yes, he’s in denial at least as much as he’s crying “projection” without any idea what it means.

January 7th, 2006 at 3:22 amY’all keep thinking that Chris a bad and/or hack journalist. Don’t you understand that he’s implicated? How could he constantly lie as much as he does? He’s on the payroll, and sooner or later the investigation will bear that out. Chris is obviously the valedictorian of the the effort to subvert media and make it a mouthpiece of the special interest propaganda.
January 7th, 2006 at 6:48 amI waited over twenty Tweety minutes (a famous name draws a crowd in America–not really a good sign).
I plunked down a photocopy of the Aug. 8, 2001 Daily Howler with Matthews and “sheer dissembling in the title, and told him I was there as a critic. His face went serious and scornful. How dare someone question his shabby work?
I told him that I’d read his latest book (America- blahblahblah) and found it appalling. He verbally brushed me aside, like the talented con artist that he is. I pulled out a copy of Lies My Teacher Told Me, by Loewen and he didn’t recoil like a vampire exposed to daylight, because he is immunt from the truth.
All of his “I’m for the little guy” posturing is a disingenuous lie. That’s why he’d claim Tom DeLay lives like a middle class person. His goal is spreading faux-populist, pro-conservative disinformation.
January 7th, 2006 at 8:58 amSoon he’ll live like a “regular” guy in jail getting asshammered by his husband in cellblock 6.
January 7th, 2006 at 9:05 amPublic documents reviewed by the Associated Press tell the story: At least 48 visits to golf clubs and resorts; 100 flights aboard company planes; 200 stays at hotels, many world-class; and 500 meals at restaurants, some averaging nearly $200 for a dinner for two.
————————————
Poor poor Tom. How will he be able to go on without such luxuries. LOL From the four star hotels to prison bitch.
January 7th, 2006 at 9:08 amTip O’Neill, Matthews former employer, rolled over in his grave a few times during last night’s Tweety lie-fest.
So, is “middle class” a euphimism for “barely rich”?
January 7th, 2006 at 9:27 amLet’s see aside from the perks, what do we know about DeLay’s income…House salary–at least $158,000. His wife and daughter received salary from various sources totalling at least $500,000–that we know of–undoubtedly there is even more that we don’t know about. This alone puts him into the top 5% of salary—middle class, my ass. I don’t believe his only home is a modest apartment in DC–Matthews is clearly full of shit.

It’s still whining? 3AM and this freak is so obsessed with me she had to come back. LMFAO.
January 7th, 2006 at 10:51 amChris Matthews’ intense hatred of the Clintons totally disqualifies him as a source of fairness, (he’s MSNBC’s Clinton-hating, Fox surrogate).
Anyway, I read that a DeLay trip to London (where they lodged at the luxurious and exorbitantly expensive “Four Seasons” Hotel- I believe) cost over $100,000 for one week.
One of the major pet peeves I have about the media is that there aren’t any more “investigative” reporters. The media has the resources to follow the money trails these corrupt politicians and corporate crooks make, (ie., hiding assets with family members other than immediate household). I’d be willing to bet that if we had a few good Moyers, Morrows, and Cronkites, (and the cooperation of the media corporate bosses- but then why would the co-conspirators “honestly” investigate themselves), the buried treasure of these criminals could be unearthed with relative ease.
These sleaze bag politicians and corporate executive pirates don’t care if they get caught, (why else would DeLay, Cunningham et al have been so careless, brazen and callous?), because the risk-reward ratio makes their graft and corruption well worth it.
How many of us wouldn’t spend three-to-five in “Club Fed”, then come home to millions? Just ask Michael Milken (the junk bond king) if a couple of billion isn’t worth 3 puny years?
How about the media’s (and GOP’s) new “messiah-for prez” John “Mr. Fake-as*ed Integrity” McCain how easy it is to have the public forgive one’s financial indiscretions- especially if you’re a WASP war hero. The public seems to have forgotten how Mr. Integrity was neck deep in the “savings and loan” scandal, and media is practically ramming this crooked bast**d down our collective throats as the next great hope for prez…
The only way we’re going to break the backs of corrupt politicians and their corporate sponsors is to issue out (mandatory minimum state prison) hard time, seize all assets (family’s included that can’t be accounted for), and guarantee total ruination of these offenders financially and professionally. Until then, we’re only using a 16 oz. cup to put out a Texas-sized brushfire.

Gordon the Maggotfu**ingbushite,
No this is what happens when corrupt, megalomaniacal, incompetent, lying, thieving, mass murdering, cowards like your gods Bushiva and L’il Dick rush to unnecessary war under false pretenses, without having properly equipped the troops…
Ask yourself two key ???s :
what was the rush?
who benefits the most from this war? (follow the money inbred)
Gordy you (and your inbred Bushite worshippers) hate America! You hate our way of life, and our troops. You would rather have your children ritually sacrificed or raped by wild dogs than have your gods Bushiva and L’il Dick disgraced, and brought to justice! But you’re all going to get what you’ve got coming to your treasonous, anti-American, facist carcasses, as your White House from hell is slowly falling apart. There will be accountability for the crimes this administration and its benefactors and enablers have committed, or we will never be a union at peace!
Do us all a favor and save us the trouble of having to hunt your sorry a** down, eat that weapon you’re so fond of sticking up your Bush-gored nether region…
How many times a day do you pray to Bushiva and L’il Dick?

EBP,

I’ll be the judge of that. You just keep missing the point and drooling on your shirt and everything will be just fine.
January 7th, 2006 at 2:49 pmWhy, are you the manager of the Think Progress troll brigade.
Drooling on my shirt? Okay, whatever.
Although I must say, it is nice to have the real I-RIGHT-I back. Your stand in don’t do you justice. They write whole paragraphs of explanation, providfe links to their side of the story and don’t call anybody names. You outta tell them to stop pretending to be you, because nobody can make you look more like a racist retard than yourself.
January 7th, 2006 at 2:59 pmI-R-I @ 75: Jesuit educated here, so I think I can debate Christianity with ya’. Try me, punk. I’ll have you agreeing that God meant the freaks should inherit the earth in about 10 mins.

Punk? Freaks? Jesuit? Fine and dandy sonny, I’ll be around. With any luck you’ll be a little smarter than the other lapsed Catholics around here.
January 7th, 2006 at 3:01 pmSo, how was that very expensive Mexican dinner?
So, Taco Bell got you strapped?
You got a Pay Pal account, I will send you a little cash. I hate to see Americans being broke.
January 7th, 2006 at 3:06 pmHi. Came back for a moment to discover GG’s in love with himself. No surprise there. Now I’ll return to the more recent posts.
January 7th, 2006 at 8:39 pmI-RIGHT-I,
It doesn’t matter what you ‘debate’ about Christianity, because you’ve already stated you believe that immorality, corruption, and bribery are ‘good’.
I WAS going to grace you with a little bit of my time and that, against my better judgement. Thanks, now I don’t have to….. Next.

Piece of advice Pudge, save your money. We know you lower middle class guys don’t have a pot to piss in so offering to pick up the tab when it’s not your turn just shows us what a loser you are. Oh…dinner was OK, I would have been just as happy with the #4 from Taco Bell.

January 8th, 2006 at 1:54 pm[...] Here you have two Texas born-agains who want you to think of them as beer-drinking regular guys while living conspicuously high on the hog. Four years into a particularly codependent relationship in which the prez lets DeLay pass any damn bill he pleases and DeLay keeps a tight lid on that thing that we used to call ‘oversight,’ you’d think that they’d practically qualify for domestic partner benefits. January 9th, 2006 at 12:47 pm[...] This isn’t the first time Matthews has tried to peddle this nonsense. Earlier this year, Matthews claimed that Tom Delay “really lives basically, like a regular middle class person.” ThinkProgress demonstrates this middle class lifestyle: As Tom DeLay became a king of campaign fund-raising, he lived like one, too. He visited cliff-top Caribbean resorts, golf courses designed by PGA champions and four-star restaurants, all courtesy of donors who bankrolled his political money empire. [...]
