BREAKING: Tom DeLay To Give Up Leadership Post Permanently»

Fox News has the story.

Tom DeLay said this wasn’t going to happen. From the AP, 10/3/05:

The criminal charges are “so frivolous, so over-the-top, so embarrassing to the judiciary that we ought to be able to get it out of here pretty quickly,” DeLay told “Fox News Sunday.” “It will be over and be over very, very soon. And I think I will go back to be majority leader.”

UPDATE: The AP has more.

UPDATE II: DeLay releases his official resignation letter.

Great news — but fix that headline, guys.

You know how pissy the trolls are about spelling and punctuation!

  2. Jase Says:

Now WE have the Hammer! Finally the Hammer fell.

  3. For Truth Says:

    Blame Clinton.

  4. Magnum DB Says:

At the time of my comment I see no additional information yet. I don’t know who to believe! Both Fox News and Tom Delay lie all the time. This is getting my hopes up though. I look forward to seeing how this unfolds, and I’m interested to know WHY he’s giving up. I thought Republicans always stayed the course.

  5. ChuckLA Says:

This is a sad day for America. We should be saddened that such a selfless patriot will no longer lead our congress.

    Not.

  6. RunningDogLackey Says:

A great wailing and gnashing of teeth over at Free Republic:

Savor their delicious torment. And keep an eye on Mike Pence, who seems to have some support from the grass.

  7. For Truth Says:

Who are the trolls going to blame for this?

  8. JIMBO Says:

Chrissy Matthews at MSNBC must be pissing in his pants right now.

The Hammer is falling, but the fall won’t be complete until he’s in a maximu security prison with a 300lb roommate named Bubba.

Tommy boy, better watch HBO’s OZ. :)

  9. JIMBO Says:

Yeah, what will Mighty Arrogance, IwRONGI, Gordy and the rest of the horrid trolls have to say now. They know it’s not a victory for them.

  10. Magnum DB Says:

Nothing this administration ever “thinks” turns out to be right. They THOUGHT Iraq would cost much less than it did, they THOUGHT we’d be greeted as liberators, they THOUGHT the insurgents were in their last throws, they THOUGHT the US Soldiers had the right amount of armor, they THOUGHT Saddam had WMD, they THOUGHT Harriet Myers was going to pass with flying colors, they THOUGHT their economic policies would work, they THOUGHT their Social Security reform would work, Bush THOUGHT he could sneak by with his illigal wire-tapping, Bush THOUGHT those doors in Beiging would be unlocked….

…they are constantly wrong. Maybe that is the course they are staying. The course of being consitantly wrong.

  11. Jay Randal Says:

Rep. Tom Delay was in political bed with Jack Abramoff, so he must resign from the House and face criminal charges for stealing money from American Indian Tribes!

  12. Tetra King Says:

#2 - that was always what it was about for liberals - wasn’t it? Well, you got him. DeLay is gone. The GOP now rebuilds like they’ve done so many times before. They will change as needed.

What changes will Democrats be making?

  13. Tetra King Says:

BTW, I am happy this happened. At this point, I would prefer a GOP leadership that challenges Bush on domestic spending and immigration more. Now, I can have that.

Will the Democrats discuss defining issues this year or just talk about corruption?

  14. RemoveBush Says:

    this is a test

  15. JIMBO Says:

Yeah, the GOP rebuilds with more of the same crap. More criminals, extortionists, bribers, chickenhawks and name-callers.

Yes, yes, yes bring them on. The Amercan public and politicians who now have spines and bigger balls will take the criminals down.

  16. wisedup Says:

1 down, many more to GO, NEXT!

  17. Jay Randal Says:

Note: Everyone in the House and Senate who received money from Jack Abramoff, helped to defraud Native Americans! This is just like the abuse that our government did to Indians under General Custer, not by killing them, but by taking advantage of them! It is similar to the land grab in Georgia from Indian Tribes and forcing them to move to Oklahoma via “Trail of Tears” relocation! Exploitation of our Native Americans is a blight and stain on our nation!

  18. JIMBO Says:

I wonder what Delay’s mistress Chrissy Matthews has to say about this. Matthews has always been kissing up Delay’s buttcheeks for a long time.

Come on Chrissy, admit it, you love criminals.

  19. Gary Ruppert Says:

I think it’s unfortunate that Tom DeLay had to give up his post due to the vindictive vendetta of the extreme left.

  20. Jay Randal Says:

Also, do NOT forget that President George W. Bush received at least $100,000 from Jack Abramoff, so George himself exploited our Native Americans for his personal gain!

  21. JIMBO Says:

    #20

I think it’s fortunate that Tom Delay had to give up his post due to the vindictive vedetta of his own stupidity.

  22. RunningDogLackey Says:

I think it’s unfortunate that Tom DeLay gave up his post before he could be utterly humiliated and forced out by the impending Abramoff revelations.

  23. JIMBO Says:

I think it’s unfortunate that Delay is not yet convicted
and thrown into a maximum security prison where he would have to be careful to not drop the soap in front of his new
    excited friends. :)

  24. Innocent Bystander Says:

    #20

I think it’s unfortunate that Tom DeLay had to give up his post due to the criminal acts he committed as a US Congressman.

  25. Innocent Bystander Says:

    #20

I think it’s unfortunate that Tom DeLay had to give up his post due to the criminal acts he committed while many more dirty Republicans are still unindicted. It’s not fair.

  26. The WB42 5:30 Report With Doug Krile Says:

    DeLay Out…

Stepping down from leadership post, but says he’ll run again for his seat….

  27. Gary Ruppert Says:

Also, if you want Bush to “give up” his donations from tribes (which is probably a chunk of his 100K), you should insist that Harry Reid do the same thing.

  28. hardass Says:

Jail time would be most fortunate for de lay and bush . Their actions wasted so many of our citizens destroyed a country to which we would be in hock for quite sometimes . The world court will see to that , and we now have no friends any where in the world , the taliban is gaining power back ,el quaida is now well established in Iraq , poppy crops are at their highest in Afghan , nice going bushies , you should all be tried for treason . Impeachement is not enough .

  29. WaltTheMan Says:

Just impeach them and let them retiree to Iran or North Korea.

  30. unbelievable Says:

Well, I suppose he can take some comfort in knowing that he is still Majority Leader… of corrupt Republicans, that is!

  31. unbelievable Says:

  32. california_reality_check Says:

    Impeach the bastards!

  33. JIMBO Says:

    Gary, Gary, Gary!

Get off the pipe and start joining reality.

  34. Lisa Says:

Oh, me too Gary. I’m all for overt corruption and stealing; why it’s the American Way! And poor ol’ Tom DeLay being the posterboy and all. Makes me just want to wail. Yeah, I think that our positive international message of “rip ‘em off until ya git caught” just makes everyone want to do business here! I’m sure that’s why the international community is changing from US Dollars to the Euro dollar regarding international trade.

Wow, that’s going to make our economy really rock! But hey, that’s what taxes are for! To support the republican criminal politicians as they get richer and richer and richer at our expense. It’s just tragic that their sordid illegal activities are coming to light. You know, instead of praying in private, like Jesus said to, they preferred to keep their stealing in private; that’s mighty christian of them, don’t you think? I’m sure Jesus would welcome them with open arms because of all their self-gratuitous behavior. Another shining example going down in the dusty corridors of our legal system. I’ve always said, Gary, who needs laws, right? We’re all responsible, well adjusted, compassionate adults; just look at Jack, and Tom, and Duke, and George, and Dick, and Donald, and Condi, and John, and Paul, and….

  35. ElectricBassPlayer Says:

#14 “Will the Democrats discuss defining issues this year or just talk about corruption?”

Well, unfortunately the defining issue right now IS corruption.

It’s possible that once the dust settles, that big fat stinking blocked-up turd that is the corrupt Congressional majority will be shit out, leaving Bush without any recourse but to start IMPROVING America — as much as the thought disgusts him.

  36. Zookeeper Says:

Tom DeLay: You cain’t kick me out, ’cause ah quit! Ah’ll smile for that, too!

  37. SpudgeBoy Says:

Well, let’s get the goodbyes over with, so he can leave with no DeLay (pun intended).

  38. cynical ex-hippie Says:

The defining issues today are corruption and cover-ups. Corruption helped to shove through the “coservative agenda” and cover-ups kept information from the public that would have allowed a more informed decision in 2004. That strikes at the core of our democracy.

We need to get this country back to honest debate and marketplace of ideas that the Founding Fathers intended.

  39. unbelievable Says:

We need to get this country back to honest debate and marketplace of ideas that the Founding Fathers intended.

    Comment by cynical ex-hippie — January 7, 2006 @ 2:06 pm

But that’s just so booooring compared to all this puerile drama and name-calling and soap opera style politics… :)

  40. RightPunch Says:

“Also, if you want Bush to “give up” his donations from tribes (which is probably a chunk of his 100K), you should insist that Harry Reid do the same thing. Gary Ruppert “

Bush received donations from Abramoff, Reid didn’t. However, bush also received money from Tyco, Enron and a variety of other republican criminal outfits. Is he gonna give that money back to? No, because we all know that once republicans have extorted, stolen or taken bribes, they don’t give them back unless they’re facing jail time. Time will tell however, apparently Abramoff has lots of records and a long memory.

  41. SpudgeBoy Says:

    Off topic, but extremely important:

    Reuters via CBS News
    January 6, 2006
Bremer says US did not expect insurgency in Iraq

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Paul Bremer, who led the U.S. civilian occupation authority in Iraq after the 2003 invasion, has admitted the United States did not anticipate the insurgency in the country, NBC Television said on Friday.

Bremer, interviewed by the network in connection with release of his book on Iraq, recounted the decision to disband the Iraqi army quickly after arriving in Baghdad, a move many experts consider a major miscalculation.

When asked who was to blame for the subsequent Iraqi rebellion, in which thousands of Iraqis and Americans have died, Bremer said “we really didn’t see the insurgency coming,” the network said in a news release.

The network, which did not publish a transcript of the interview, added that Bremer’s comments suggested “the focus of the war effort was in the wrong place.”

  43. I-RIGHT-I Says:

    Dear Colleague,
Today, I have asked Speaker Hastert to convene our conference for the purpose of electing a new majority leader, the position I have been honored to fill these past three years through the trust and confidence of our colleagues.

During my time in Congress, I have always acted in an ethical manner within the rules of our body and the laws of our land. I am fully confident time will bear this out.

However, we live in serious times and the United States House of Representatives must be focused on the job of protecting our nation and meeting the daily challenges facing the American people. History has proven that when House Republicans are united and focused, success follows.

While we wage these important battles, I cannot allow our adversaries to divide and distract our attention. I will continue to stand up for the issues I care so deeply about and work with you all on these priorities. I am constantly thankful for the support of my constituents in recent days as well as over the years they have allowed me to serve them. I will continue to work every day to fulfill their trust, and yours.

    Regards,

    Tom DeLay

After Rep. DeLay proved unable to win quick dismissals of charges he will likely beat in court, this course of action became inevitable.

Please note the GOP majority has been admirably ruthless in cutting loose leaders when they become liabilities and the Donks just keep following theirs. It’s why we win, it’s why we’re better than you.

  44. SpudgeBoy Says:

    #44

Boy I-RIGHT-I, you sure can spin shit. Righties aren’t ruthless in cutting leaders or Bush would have been gone long ago.

  46. SpudgeBoy Says:

    Oooo, this just in:

    New York Times
    January 5, 2006
Tyco Acknowledges $1.6M Link to Abramoff

WASHINGTON (AP) — Tyco International, whose former CEO became a symbol of corporate corruption, acknowledged Thursday it is the Jack Abramoff client referred to as ”Company A” in court documents describing the lobbyist’s scheme to funnel millions of dollars in lobbying fees to himself.

Tyco hired Abramoff in 2003 to lobby for it on a tax issue, said company spokeswoman Sheri Woodruff. She declined to comment further on the New Jersey-based company’s relationship with Abramoff or on the lobbyist’s activities.

Guess he’ll have plenty of time to work on eroding our civil liberties from that jail cell… like the king pins in prison who are still running the show from behind bars… I usually don’t support the Death Penalty, but in Tom’s case, I might be willing to reconsider…

  49. Lisa Says:

IRI; the reason repug’s win is that they use slime ball tactics and smear campaigns. The dem’s try to maintain diplomacy by thinking that dipshits like you know better. So much for our education system, huh?

The problem with the dem’s is that they don’t want to sink the the repug’s level of slithering tactics. It’s really too bad they overestimated the mentality of embeciles such as yourself.

But for all intents and purposes, our election system has been proven to be corrupt, especially when states/counties use the Diebold system. Ohh, but what am I thinking? Repug’s don’t believe in fairness or justice. Isn’t that the main reason why this country is in the shape it’s in now?

I don’t hold in high regard the dem’s apathy to address the repug’s tactics, but it’s good to see that more Americans are finally waking up to the realization that our government has been hijacked by corrupt, unethical, and greedy turds. I do believe that the times are a changing, little one. Then maybe there will liberty and justice for all!

  52. RemoveBush Says:

    Off topic comment.

People, we need to stop just talking and do something. Write to you representatives. If enough people write them, they have to listen. Here is what I have written to mine.

    Part 1 of 2:

    Dear Congressman;

In all of these issues with the president, and especially the eavesdropping issue, I am wondering why you are not questioning one important comment the WH keeps stating regarding their power. In every statement people from the WH make, they say that the president has these powers in times of war. WE ARE NOT AT WAR. Please show me the declaration of war from Congress! Congress authorized the use of the military to invade Iraq, but there was no declaration of war. Therefore, the presidents claim that he has war time powers are NULL AND VOID!

Why are you guys in Congress playing politics instead of what you were hired to do and look after the American Peoples best interest? Do something about it now. This whole thing is just the wool over our eyes, and as everyone can now see, the house of cards that Dick built is falling down. Have you ever hear of PNAC? I’m sure you have! If not, you need to read their document written in 1997. This Administration was built on performing what was written in that document, and in fact more than 70% of the Administration were members of the PNAC group. This ADMINISTRATION needs to be IMPEACHED, for crimes against America and the World.

This country can no longer believe one word this government says, due to all of the corruption in the government. Even if an honest government official says something, I would not believe it unless there was STRONG evidence to support what they say. All one has to do is look at all of the events over the last 8 months to see all of the corruption, and most of it is from the Republicans. I don’t care if it is a Republican or Democrat that is dishonest, they need to go. In fact, I would love to see this 2 party system go away as it does nothing but tear this country apart. Why can’t the laws be changed so that either party can vote to hold special meetings? Why is it that the MAJORITY gets to decide? I realize that our country is built on the majority making the decisions, but the majority is corrupt and a new law needs to ensure that the peoples voice is heard. Here’s a suggestion: 40% of the Congress vote can be enough to declare special meetings or whatever? The majority vote still holds for any laws and such, but to get discussions going only 40% of the Congress is needed to begin discussions in the Congress. This way the Congress is fair and honest, no matter who is the majority.

Please do not play politics anymore, for the sake of our country, and stand up for the American People and DEMAND IMPEACHMENT of the whole ADMINISTRATION.

  57. RunningDogLackey Says:

    Unrewarding!

  58. Cristian Ripoll Says:

Oh how the mighty have fallen! Like the old saying, what goes up, must certainly come down. The elephants are really sweating now.

I am old enough to remember the 1994 takeover. This is by far the most corrupt, power hungry, and greedy, congress, house, and Administration ever. They act with total disregard to the American people. When the Democrates take over in Nov 06, pay back is gonna a big bitch for King Bush and company. I for one will be dancing in the streets.

  59. SpudgeBoy Says:

    “Unrewarding!”

    RunningDogLackey,

You forget that these guys are on the Pentagon payroll. They are rewarded, just not in a meaningful way.

  60. TJM Says:

Well, I see where the Right Punch got up. Since you didn’t revisit the Chao thread,I thought I’d leave this here. You left me an arrogantly condescending message at 1:33 a.m.,sorry I wasn’t around to respond.

If you’re going to have pretensions, learn how to read. The figures you cited were from the MSHA web-site. The columnar data has the year in the left-hand column, the # of miners in the middle, and the fatalities on the right. I know this will be hard for you but if you cite data to construct an argument (and then use the self-serving conclusion not to discuss the topic but to denigrate the opponent)try real hard to select the figure you most want to use from the correct column.
It’s really funny that you look down your virtual nose at people you disagree with. That’s one reason you’re a poor debater, that and you can’t read which may be another.

    But,hey,you’re a liberal.

  61. pseudosig Says:

  62. SpudgeBoy Says:

    “But,hey,you’re a liberal.”

What does that have to do with how somebody argues/debates?

  63. SpudgeBoy Says:

    ron,

Provide a link, a couple of paragraphs or photos. Please don’t post an entire websites worth of stuff in a thread.

To answer you question. NO it is not true. Shit, the democrats wouldn’t even let that pass, let alone the republicans.

That site is somebody’s pipe dream. While it all sounds great, it won’t pass.

  64. TJM Says:

If you went to the Chao post comments, RP concluded that I must be deluded, irrational, etc.,I figure if he’s making sweeping generalizations, that must be par for this course.I like to play by the local rules.

  65. SpudgeBoy Says:

But, I don’t see what political leaning or party has to do with how somebody argues.

You see outlandish arguing from both sides and you see intellegent arguing from both sides.

I just don’t see somebodies affiliation determining how they argue.

  66. blindprogressive Says:

Let’s not forget the majority whip position. I don’t know if that position is open, but we know that’s where DeLay came from and must not be allowed back into it. Nor should anyone under suspiscion of corruption be allowed into a whip position.

They’re drowning, let’s beat them on the issues and the corruption. Bush is secondary now.

  67. Joe Sixpack Says:

Hey, TJM, #62 isn’t it a pisser that Tom DeLay is throwing in the towel on his leadership post? And after all those months of wasting his breath about the scandal that is bringing him down was a ploy of the democratic party.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but even I-RIGHT-I is posting like some liberal pissed in his beer. You gotta admit, his post at #58 is so—-desperatly pathetic. I mean, I’m with you both here, being a redneck conservative myself.

Hey, what’s your take on the Associated Press/Ipos poll released yesterday that noted that voters have swung around and want democrats to take over congress (49%) vs only 36% for Repuglicans? Ain’t that just tough shit for us conservatives?

  68. cynical ex-hippie Says:

    “I acted ethically”

DeLay gave us enough sound bites to pound every Republican in this years race.

By election time, Bush will deny ever having met DeLay. Probably Karl Rove, too.

  69. SpudgeBoy Says:

Uh hey Joe, I am post number 58. I-R-I is post number 56.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but you wouldn’t want to confuse us liberals and you conservatives? ;)

  70. Ellis Says:

Perhaps now the House can come back to work on a reasonable date. No need anymore to “delay” reconvening until late-January/February on the hope that “DeLay” can clear his name.

  73. Gus the Loving OBGYN Says:

Delay was thrown under the bus. It’s that simple. They didn’t even ask him to resign. Or if they did, he refused. So they called for special election.
Not ONCE in Delay’s career did he or his suppprters ever verbalize or articulate their position that “Pay to Play” was good politics. And that they perfected it. They just went along saying he was a “powerful leader”. Nothing but euphamisms. I would have actually held some respect for him if Delay just simply defended his political philosophy. He never did. He must have felt his style was unethical.

By the way, ron. You really need to expound on your posts before you look like a quack.

  74. Bob Loblaw Says:

I-R-I is a racist and believes corruption is an integral part of civilization.

  75. Joe Sixpack Says:

Sorry Spudge, about confusing the post numbers. I’m just still pissed from yesterday, watching my man Bush make a complete idiot out of himself yesterday. Again. This time over the economy.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the job numbers were supposed to come in about 200,000-3000,000 new jobs so junior jumps on a plane, heads out to Chicago to trump up support for permanent tax cuts and makes a big speech about how well the country is doing going into 6 years of his leadership. The report comes back that only 108,000 new jobs created. Now the spin is that with fewer jobs created, it takes the pressure off corporate America to rise wages or congress to raise the minimum wage.

I mean, me, I-RIGHT-I and TJM are seeing the making of our boy-wonder becoming a lame duck president. Can you blame me for being so confused?

  76. ElectricBassPlayer Says:

LOL, DeLay saying “I acted ethically.”

He’s either lying or actually believes it.

Which should tell you how basically corrupt his character is.

Abramoff would be impossible to avoid.

  78. Gus the Loving OBGYN Says:

    Bob Loblaw,
You are correct. And many people like IRI think that complicity in the crimes of their masters makes them immune to the crimes. They remind me of B-movie villains who turn on eachother while not recognizing there is a fundamental flaw in their life choices.

  80. Gus the Loving OBGYN Says:

    ElectricBassPlayer,
I have a feeling Delay (and his supporters) knew and know they were unethical because they never defended their governing style. They just kept repeating the same line: “He is an effective leader. He is a powerful leader.”, and so on.

  81. RemoveBush Says:

Joe Sixpack - I’m glad that a republican is seeing the lies that the president is giving the people. I dont afilliate with a party, and I vote for the best man (Obviously I did not vote for Bush)

I’m sorry you feel so bad that you were dubpt, but as time goes on hopefully you can realize that this path is not good for the country and stand up and ask for Congress to do something about it.

I wish things could be different, but unfortunately they are not. I could tell after 9/11 that things were only going to get worse. The moves his band of criminals were doing showed me early on. Especially when they out right refussed to listen to the generals about how the war should go. I knew for sure that this was a staged situation and there would be no end to it while Bush was in office. I am a US Army Veteran and I know, somewhat, how things should go in a battle.

It’s not a terrible thing for a Republican to say that they don’t support their criminal anymore.

Off topic but outrageous and deserving of attention. NYT front page article today:

“A secret Pentagon study has found that as many as 80 percent of the marines who have been killed in Iraq from wounds to the upper body could have survived if they had had extra body armor. Such armor has been available since 2003, but until recently the Pentagon has largely declined to supply it to troops despite calls from the field for additional protection, according to military officials.” http://www.nytimes.com/ 2006/ 01/ 07/ politics/ 07armor.html

These US citizens, like so many others in Iraq and New Orleans, didn’t have to die. Body armor has been an issue for quite some time. Bush has claimed for years that he is equipping our troops with the best available. Not so. Bush lied. Again. More needless deaths.

Now we will see Republicans somehow try to spin this and at the same time blame the media once again for outing their outrageous incompetence. For how long does this have to go on?

Rubbish, your post are conspiracy theories at their worst and as a Brit I think it disgusting that anyone would use that terrible incident in this context.

“Suzy has had my telephone number for years but chose to put out these LIES without contacting me.”
I can understand why no-one would contact this paranoid, delusional idiot.

“These ideas - that “people in space ships” are doing everything - are LIES. It is OBVIOUS because NESARA is NOT announced.”
No, it’s obvious because there are no people in space-ships. This person confirms he/she is a paranoid-delusional.

“After NESARA is announced, I plan to do special things for people who are on the Dove email list.”
Would this involve a feather tickling stick or a rope for personal use?

“No one will get away with putting out lies and claiming it’s not their fault because some invisible being told them to say it.”
This one was particularly good………I wonder if this post was written by J. Danforth Quayle? Oh no, he’s a repugnican and loves Bush. I understand there are lots of people who actually believe in ‘invisible beings’, Giacomo is one of them. Doesn’t God call Bush ‘George’?

“I’m asking those of you who control funds of $65 Million and upward, and who support NESARA, to send me an email”
I bet you are, don’t expect a deluge of responses.

“I’ve discovered there are solid, all natural, proven CURES available for most illnesses.”
And there I was, thinking the World Health Organisation would be doing it’s job. Why should I when America has you? I bet Americans all over the place are shaking their heads in disbelief at this garbage. No wonder America is going down the U-bend and taking my country with it. Thank goodness people of your mentality are in the minority in America and most Americans are good people!

“Some of you have emailed me saying you did not receive your NESARA DVD.”
Then stop ripping them off and tell them there is no DVD.

“Only those of us who are actively helping NESARA are fully protected. Think about it.”
I have, you suffer a paranoid, delusional, mental illness and are in need of immediate medication and I mean this.

Did they really? Was it made in Japan or America?

“The last time I saw F, he was a strapping 200 pound 6 foot 4 inch healthy man. He now weighs less than 100 pounds, has no hair, no teeth and suffers from several medical maladies.”

The Neo-Con movement started out to be such a vehicle for the Christian Right, Pat Roberston and Falwell, Of course Falwell and Pat knew the total war plan, they went along with it to enforce their Biblical laws, promised by the Radical Neo-Kooks. Wanna bet? Last time I was there many people in most of the countries I visited thought I was a native and routinely addressed me in their language if I didn’t speak to them first. It’s what happens when you aren’t obnoxious, and don’t dress like a hillbilly waving your ignorance and patriotism like it actually matters. And I don’t do bumperstickers or sew on flags… makes the redecorating tough when you change your mind (or your nationality, as so many of us liberals regularly consider these Orwellian days - especially those of us who know you).

Don’t forget I’ve been there many times. What you’re trying to say is that you fit in and I don’t. Fine. I would expect a left wing anti-american feminazi on a teachers salary to be rather ragged, unkempt and unwashed. I bet you saved on razors when you were visiting too didn’t you? HA!

Funny you should mention Orwell. He was writing about your people, not mine. But hey, if you want to leave take a few with you and don’t let that door hit you, you know where.

Funny is seeing a Republican defending Stalinist methods.

Shows how very little you know. Europeans are into fashion and design. As an Architect, I was a designer for a reason. But my fashion sense isn’t the reason I was accepted there (and pretty much everywhere I travel). It’s because I was respectful. You should try it. You might get a date that doesn’t rattle upstairs when you shake her…

You can’t seriously believe that… Big Brother with his newspeak are all about dictatorial control and censorship… something you neocons are freely willing to relinquish in order to save yourselves from something far less likely to kill you than second hand cigarette smoke or the crap they inject into your hamburger…

How’d you know Ryan was banned?

    1. 7/9 founding fathers were liberals: fascists are un-american
    2. repugs endanger american lives with warmongering: repugs are un-american
    3. conservatives are selfish, social darwinists who endanger the poor: conservatives are un-american

IRI etc. do not represent the values of Americans, they are un-american.

I was born in Britain, raised in Britain, educated in Britain, married in Britain, lived all over Britain and am writing this from Britain.

I am more American than IRI etc.

Because he said so in one of his post-ban posts.
It’s pretty entertaining too as he’s mad enough about it to eat nails or snails.

No, I meant how did you know the last week in December before he posted? A wee bit suspicious that you told me way back then and he didn’t post about being banned until this week… don’t cha think?

Sounds indignant rather than angry to me, and well, I can understand how he’d feel that way in a country that is supposed to welcome freedom of speech… Even you, aside from the male ‘king of the hill’ verbal sparring you guys do, would not want to see our ability to speak freely taken away from us really. This is just about Ryan with you.

Option A: Someone else here mentioned it in passing.
Option B: I have friends in low places.
