Sounds indignant rather than angry to me, and well, I can understand how he’d feel that way in a country that is supposed to welcome freedom of speech… Even you, aside from the male ‘king of the hill’ verbal sparring you guys do, would not want to see our ability to speak freely taken away from us really. You said you lived in West Texas… I figured either El Paso or somewhere really off the wall like Marfa…

I’ve been to Big Bend, and Guadalupe. Nice. But the rest of Texas, compared to the other 49 states is quite bland. It’s probably why you desert dwellers don’t mind drilling in ANWAR, you don’t understand the value of majestic unspoiled beauty…

I always drive in Europe and in fact have never been in a taxi. In addition I’m fluent in English so I never have any trouble communicating except in France. When I’m there I torture them with my handy English to French phrase book and Southern drawl. Mercy Boocoo.

See, this still is not ‘traveling’… Get a Eurail pass, a backpack and hang out with the locals. Would be good for you to see that diversity is not only not bad, but quite preferable. And as you pals the French say “Vive la difference” (of course they mean the difference between men and women, but considering your views on women, I figure it’s the same difference).

I know I scare the hell out of some of them but I’m never rude and you’d be surprised how many flag waving nationalistic bigots like me there are in Germany. We get along just fine. I always tell the Germans that it’s too bad Hitler had to over-reach and that the world would be a better place had he just swallowed up France and sued for peace. They all agree.

I spent about a month in Germany. (Have been to every country in Europe except the 3 or 4 little ones like San Marino). Yes, there are bigots in Germany just like there are in America, and every other industrialized nation out there, but not nearly as many. I’m telling you, go hang with some real people and not just the suits you work with. You might loosen up a bit and not be such an ass sometimes.

No need, I have the Stars and Stripes on my carry-on and it’s pretty hard to miss an American in Europe anyway.

Wanna bet? Last time I was there many people in most of the countries I visited thought I was a native and routinely addressed me in their language if I didn’t speak to them first. It’s what happens when you aren’t obnoxious, and don’t dress like a hillbilly waving your ignorance and patriotism like it actually matters.
