DeLay was forced to give up his leadership post over the weekend. But he is hanging on to his conspiracy theories. Watch his “exclusive interview” yesterday on FOX:
Transcript:
DELAY: And because of that rule, the Democrats used this runaway District Attorney here in Austin, Texas to abuse that rule. Eight grand juries indicted me, and the only reason to indict me is to get me to step aside.
(BREAK)
ANCHOR: You said just a moment ago you suspect that this was the real reason you were indicted because the Democrats wanted you out of the role of Majority Leader.
DELAY: It’s the only reason, Brian.
It would even be good if it were true to see the Democrats successfully conspiring at anything.
January 9th, 2006 at 10:54 amSoon the WH will be destroying all picture of Bush with Delay.
January 9th, 2006 at 10:58 am8 count them 8 grand juries conspired to indict him. Boy that Ronnie Earle is one conspirer. Let’s run that boy for prezdint.
January 9th, 2006 at 10:59 amThis guy is truly pathological. Yeah, dude, the whole world is against you. I know, even paranoids have enemies and the best, the DOJ is a left wing machine and this is a conspiracy.
Fat exterminator.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:00 amI really can’t stop laughing. Nobody is dumb enough to believe this freak.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:01 amOkay, I’ve heard enough lie-filled quotes from Mr. DeLay that it’s time to clear something up for his supporters. He has said (variously) that he “did nothng wrong,” that he “did nothing unethical,” and that he “did nothing illegal.” Of these three, the only one that even remotely comes close to the truth is the last one, that he “did nothing illegal.” It is possible that this is accurate, but my gut tells me that it’s not.
As for “nothing wrong” and “nothing unethical,” this is where Mr. DeLay needs to avail himself of a dictionary. What he did and how he did it in order to get more Republicans into Congress was considered so wrong and so unethical by the people of Texas, that they decided to pass a law banning what Mr. DeLay did. It may, technically, have been legal when he did it, but it was clearly wrong and clearly unethical, and they decided that they didn’t want anyone else to be able to do what Mr. DeLay did.
And no matter how hard he tires, he’ll never get DDT un-banned, which is one of the main reasons he ran for Congress in the first place. I don’t know, maybe he inhales the stuff when no one’s around.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:01 amI tend to shoot my mouth off, but in this case Delay is truly nuts. He believes everything he says. He won’t come and say anything about “pay to play”.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:02 amIf the Democrats are so organized to get EIGHT grand juries to indict that criminal (alleged of course, till he is convicted and hauled off to Federal Prison), why are we in the Constitutional mess we are in today?
January 9th, 2006 at 11:02 amEight grand juries have indicted him? And its all a conspiracy? If this was a Saturday Night Live skit it would be really funny…
Hey, what about the DoJ? Those guys must be feeling really left out. After all, they lassoed Abramoff and it’s really his deal that triggered DeLay’s resignation.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:03 amWhy that mean, nasty Ronnie whatishisname – making DeLay get himself involved in money laundering and gerrymandering! Why I oughta…..
January 9th, 2006 at 11:03 amwhat conspiracy? It wouldn’t be conspiracy if Delay didn’t do any corrupt work.. remember ethic rule changes over and over back then.. it sure raise lots of questions! boy, Delay caught himself red-handed. ciao delay.. I doubt he will be re-elected. no one wants corrupted lawmaker! He’s better off finishing his current term.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:04 amIs DeLay off his meds? Maybe Sen Frist needs to do a video diagnosis of his mental state. “He clearly responds to political stimuli…”
January 9th, 2006 at 11:08 amGosh, it must be really difficult to get eight different grand juries filled only with democrats…what are the odds?
January 9th, 2006 at 11:12 amDeLay says this was a massive conspiracy because that’s exactly the sort of thing he would try to do if he were trying to get someone out.
Like I always say: Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:12 amhe’s either paranoid, or he’s read the GOP talking points so many times he actually believes that crap…
January 9th, 2006 at 11:16 amAs I was getting ready this morning, I had MSNBC on, and I heard Matt Cooper talking to some blond anchor twit, and they were saying how DeLay and Abramoff weren’t friends and barely knew each other. I could be wrong because I only started listening about half way through. Anybody else see that?
January 9th, 2006 at 11:17 amMr. DeLay and his tactics are among the reaons I have promoted the idea of (what I’m calling for now, until I hear or think of a better name) “indistrict financing,” under which a candidate for Representative or Senator could only accept campaign contributions from people who they will be representing in Congress. Mr. DeLay’s infamous ability to raise money has led to his attaining power, and he was verfy abusive in how he used it. (If he didn’t feel he had enough of your support in the House, he would help support a candidate against you in the primary.)
January 9th, 2006 at 11:18 amAh, the smell of arrogant self-righteous victimhood in the morning.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:18 amI’m sure he’ll be blaming Clinton any moment now. What a loser. When Duke Cunningham is the role model for accountability, then you know your party is screwed.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:19 amLook, he is just like Cunningham was. Didn’t do nothin. Until he pleads guilty. Then, of course, he’s sorry he lied to everyone and asks for forgiveness. Impeach the lot of them.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:19 amThe dog ate his homework. He’s running out of gas. The war slogs on.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:20 amThe prez and the rest of the repubs have survived by continually claiming the opposite of any difficult reality. Unfortuanately, too many Americans continue to believe them. They will not give up this tactic even as they head off to jail.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:23 amI cried watching this footage…
To think that a once proud exterminator from roach infested Houston, TX, climbed the political ladder to become “the Hammer”- right wing, ultra-conservatives’ answer to corrupt American society’s debauchery and shame, has been brought down to the depths of despair…and yes, conspiracy theories…
I hope they unlock his gun cabinet…
January 9th, 2006 at 11:24 amRemember when the Republicans stormed to control of Congress in 1994. They were going to end the corruption of the Dmeocratic party and restore dignity. The were going to aboid “The appearance of impropriety”.
We are watching the collapse of an empire. These are truly some of the most despicable people on the planet.

January 9th, 2006 at 11:26 amGood good. I can feel the hate flowing through you my young apprentice. It makes you strong. Gives you focus. Now go to Austin. Do what must be done. The hippies there are too dangerous to let live.
From this moment forward, you will be known as Darth Golfer.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:27 amThis obiviously has no balls to admit that he is wrong. What does he do? He goes off on the conspiracy tanget. Yet, when he was in power he did not give a damn and ran over anyone that got in his way. He lied, cheated, and stole while riding high and had the balls to f— anyone. Now, that the noose is getting tighter and the dirty machine he built is going down, he is screaming “Conspiracy” like the little bi— and pu— that he is. This is hypocrisy at its best and his name is Tom Delay. Tom, why don’t you fess up to what you have done? Please excuse my language people, but I am fed up with punk.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:30 amI love it when they ‘whine’ on the way down and OUT. Jail is to good for tom, roadside cleanup sound good to me in a BRIGHT ORANGE SUIT.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:34 amAND, he thinks Christians are “wackos”.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:35 amIt’s that ole vast left wing conspiracy at it again.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:35 amThis kind of whining makes him sound as guilty as hell (and paranoid to boot). Has he blamed George Soros and/or the ACLU yet? If not, I’m sure that’s coming soon.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:45 amStep right up, step right up…
Where, kind people, is the Right winger willing to come forward and fall on this grenade for a GOOD MAN, your spiritual leader and enforcer of all that is good in Congress…? Where is the good Christian ready to bust off a really delicious rationalization about why this man is not a common thief and hypocrite?
G’wan… I DARE YA!
Come on, I-R-I, NED, let’s have it! The Gun-Toting Liberal dares ya!
(sound of crickets)
I can’t wait for the kool-aid to start flowing on this one. Anyone with a shred of objectivity and knowledge of Capitol Hill events over the past 10 years can see this man’s turpitude from a mile away. In fact, I hear that Tom Delay’s ego is the only man-made thing visible with the naked eye from space…
What’s the talking point going to be? That the weak, stupid, intellectually and morally bankrupt Liberals are also, simultaneously and incongruously, a well-oiled attack machine, an effective and powerful cohesive group with an overarching and unifying ideology against the Right?
For the “Liberal conspiracy” smear, should you choose to employ it, to have validity, the Libs would have to be everything the Right claims they are not.
January 9th, 2006 at 11:48 amAnother innocent victim of a liberal smear camapign ;-)
January 9th, 2006 at 11:53 amI’m just waiting for DeLay to say “The Devil made me do it.” Because you know it’s coming…

So this is what it must’ve been like in those final days in Rome…
January 9th, 2006 at 11:59 amDe Lay: “I did not have sexual relations with those bank accounts.”
January 9th, 2006 at 12:01 pmI forgot to mention that “runaway district attorney” Ronnie Earle has a superlative record of investigating malfeasance on BOTH sides of the aisle. I saw statistics months ago that showed Earle to have prosecuted at least as many Democrats as Republicans over the course of his career. His impartiality has been lauded by individuals on BOTH SIDES of the aisle in Texas…
Also, if DeLay is so concerned about fairness and corruption, why won’t he and his morally-challenged right-wing pals allow the House Ethics Committee to do it’s job the way it has always done, for decades, with bipartisan support and meaningful, objective methods?
You can’t root out corruption or Liberal conspiracies when the body empowered to do so is on permanent hiatus. We all know WHY it’s out of commission, too: the Republicans wanted to stack the committee’s staff (and thus the outcomes of their investigations) wih demonstrated partisan hacks – dutiful foot soldiers, no doubt – and the Democrats refused to be a party to it. Seems like someone’s got obvious integrity and credibility problems…
Now, who might that be?
Hypocrites and parasites.

GSD,
The only one’s even scummier are the traitors who vote to keep them in office.
What’s most disgusting is how poor/middle working class sh*tbirds like the I-Triflin’, Puny Hermaph variety ferociously defend the cowardly traitors Bushiva, L’il Dick and co. with no obvious benefit…
Those da*n taxcuts have all been sacrificed to the oil gods of our choosing, and they sure as he*l weren’t worth it!
Pus Limphog, Andrew Coulter, Scammity et al at least get paid for it!
I’ve concluded that they hate our way of life, especially the ideals of a multi-ethnic/cultural melting pot of a Constitutional republic…
They long for a dictator, a “father-like figure” to replace that vile figure they knew growing up; The one who slipped into their rooms after midnight and taught them dark right wing inbred secret “handshakes” and body language…
January 9th, 2006 at 12:13 pmLet us HELP the collapse of the ‘Federalist Empire’;
Of course ‘Federalist’ actually Anti-Federalist also fits AEI and its Director whose name I forget at this time. Epstein a Chicago Professor of “constitution in Exile” NuttyShip.
About the Federalist Society, Gaglia acknowledged, “They certainly are unenthusiastic about civil rights laws. Richard Epstein thinks we will be better off if civil rights laws were all repealed. These people do believe, as I believe, that so-called civil rights have gone too far and are not civil rights at all.”
Lino A. Graglia, a Federalist Society member and University of Texas law professor, whose Reagan-era nomination to the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals was pulled when he admitted that he had referred to African Americans as “pickaninnies,” openly asserts, to this day, that blacks and Latinos are inherently inferior to whites.
January 9th, 2006 at 12:19 pmWe must stop these people from procreating. Impeach them and sterilize them.

January 9th, 2006 at 12:20 pmHey did TOM say Conspiracy, oh Wait Abramoff admitted Conspiracy. I’d say a LOT of people have some explaining to do….
Most Senate Dems Took Abramoff Cash
Nearly ninety percent of Senate Democrats took money linked to disgraced “Republican†lobbyist Jack Abramoff, according to a list compiled by the Republican National Committee.
Though reporters continue to insist that the Abramoff imbroglio is “a Republican scandal,†2008 Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton took more than $12,000 in tainted cash.
Compared to the party’s 2004 standard bearer, however, she’s a piker. John Kerry raked in nearly $100,000 in Abramoff-linked donations.
In fact, 40 of the party’s 45 U.S. senators made the Jack Abramoff dishonor roll, including:
• Senator Max Baucus (D-MT), who received at least $22,500 in Abramoff-linked cash.
• Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN), who received at least $6,500 in Abramoff-linked cash.
• Senator Joseph Biden (D-DE), who received at least $1,250 in Abramoff-linked cash.

• Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), who received at least $2,000 in Abramoff-linked cash.
• Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI), who received at least $1,250 in Abramoff-linked cash.
• Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA), who received at least $45,750 in Abramoff-linked cash.
• Senator Daniel Inouye (D-HI), who received at least $9,000 in Abramoff-linked cash.
• Senator Jim Jeffords (I-VT), who received at least $2,000 in Abramoff-linked cash.

• Senator Joe Lieberman (D-CT), who received at least $29,830 in Abramoff-linked cash.
• Senator Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) Received At Least $14,891 in Abramoff-linked cash.

January 9th, 2006 at 1:40 pmFor God’s sake, let me take over the DNC quick response unit.
Delay’s outgoing Press Conference:
Just listening to the first few minutes of this egomaniac is almost too much for any person to take. He actually said “we have shrunk the size of this government.”
Where’s the DNC response calling DeLay either a liar or an idiot, because everyone knows that the Govt has grown at an UNPRECEDENTED RATE.
Since 2001 U.S. federal spending has increased by a massive 28.8% (19.7% in real dollars)—with non-defense discretionary growth of 35.7% (25.3% in real dollars)—the highest rate of federal government growth since the presidencies of Richard Nixon and Lyndon Johnson. This increase has resulted in the largest budget deficits in U.S. history, an estimated $520 billion in fiscal year 2004 alone.
Bush HAS, it is a FACT, grown the size and cost of our government, not shrunk it as DeLay lied.
January 9th, 2006 at 1:43 pmHow the Christians were Duped into Civil rights Destruction via Robertson and His Federalist Regents, Of course this Helps Answer the Question as to why Pat Robertson wants to BLOW UP people and countries;
Pat Robertson’s Regent University Law School is a major recruiting ground for the Society, and Ave Maria School of Law, founded by Domino’s Pizza magnate Thomas Monaghan, lists Society Co-Chairman Robert Bork on its faculty.
Other Federalist Society affiliates include: the Institute for Justice, the Washington Legal Foundation, the Pacific Legal Foundation, the American Center for Law and Justice at Robertson’s Regent University Law School, the Christian Legal Society, the Rutherford Institute, and the Alliance Defense Fund. The Alliance Defense Fund is a coalition of religious groups, involved in a series of court cases challenging the separation of church and state.

January 9th, 2006 at 2:19 pmOk, the gig is up. We’ve been caught in our conspiracy. Let’s hope they don’t find out we’re the ones behind the war on Chtistmas, Bible banning, abortion-as-birth-control, undermining family values, and too many others to list. SHHHH!
January 9th, 2006 at 2:21 pmA REAL AMERICAN IS BACK. Respect. It is incredibly hippocritical when Democrats applaud the indictment of someone for the alleged breaking of campaign finance laws. I will laugh my ass off when the next Dem is indicted for the same thing, or something similiar, because campaign finance violations have no political ideology. Both sides engage in this type of stuff every day. But then again, since we seem to have a shortage of zeolot Republican prosecutors who are so ideologically driven that they will do ANYTHING in order to get an indictment, we may never see a Dem brought to justice.
January 9th, 2006 at 2:23 pmIRI @ 56: If you were any more of a shill….. These are straight GOP talking points, these donations aren’t from Abramoff, but his clients, and taking money from clients isn’t illegal.

This kind of blantant 5 second news bite might work on Faux news, but this is a POLITICAL blog site. Why do you think posting this tripe is an effective use of our time? Please try to say something reasonably intelligent or just stay quiet.
January 9th, 2006 at 2:24 pmWhere, kind people, is the Right winger willing to come forward and fall on this grenade for a GOOD MAN, your spiritual leader and enforcer of all that is good in Congress…?
I get the point … but you know full well that because one is a republican/conservative doesn’t mean they support a leader who’s a republican/conservative, especially if that individual is being investigated/charged with crimes.
I’ve concluded that they hate our way of life, especially the ideals of a multi-ethnic/cultural melting pot of a Constitutional republic … They long for a dictator, a “father-like figure†to replace that vile figure they knew growing up; The one who slipped into their rooms after midnight and taught them dark right wing inbred secret “handshakes†and body language …
Yeah … because there are no other alternatives than that, are there … get real. You managed to trash half the country by creating your own talking point and then tearing it down. It’s stupid when people say “liberals want the terrorists to win” and it’s stupid to say conservatives “hate our way of life” . If it makes you feel better to demonize those that don’t agree with you, so be it … seems to me that fair dissent is one of those “ideals” you referenced earlier.
January 9th, 2006 at 2:25 pm#59
Now I-R-I, list all of the Democrats who took campaign contributions from Abramoff himself or any P.A.C.s linked to Abramoff… you can’t because that number is 0, nil, nada.
Why don’t you compose a list of the number of Democrats under investigation for trading votes and inserting legislative riders at the last minute into proposed bills for campaign contributions from Ambramoff linked political action committees… you can’t, because again, that number is 0. Trading votes for money is what is at the core of the Abramoff scandal, not lobbying legally on behalf of legitimate groups through proper legal channels for an audience with a lawmaker.
All that list you lifted from the kooky Free Republic website (without crediting it) proves is that one of the lobbying firms that Abramoff worked for, as well as the Indian Affairs Commission, made some LEGAL donations to Democrats as well as Republicans (at a ratio of 1 dollar to Dems for every 3 dollars to Repubs, I might add). This is legal. Trading votes for donations, or laundering money into political action committess is illegal.
There are clear distinctions you are either ignoring or ignorant of, and you are being very dishonest in doing so.
January 9th, 2006 at 2:29 pm#64
January 9th, 2006 at 2:33 pmSurreal American, If any Democrat commits a crime or is indicted for bribery or money laundering, they should be indicted. America as a whole is the only loser when ANY criminal holds a political office. To be a partisan apologist is to put party before country, and that is UNAMERICAN.
64: Idiot. The issue is NOT campaign finace law but BRIBERY. You (and your GOP masters ) would like it to be campaign finance improprieties, as a) the masses don’t think that is as bad, and b) the GOP can point at the Dems and say they do it too. But it’s not. This is a Republican crimal scandal, Republican lobbyists, Republican Senators and Republican operatives are, so far, the only ones being indicted, prosecuted, or pleading.
Oh, and this is all due to partisan prosecuters is it then? Proof? News articles? Names? And, it appears from the shenanigans that Delay and Abramoff were up to, it would take a particularly blind prosecutor from EITHER party to ignore them. They were asking to be caught, by their egregious behaviour.
Finally, what does any of this to do with critiqueing large anmbhibious african animals? It’s “hypocritical”, not “hippocritical”. Lern tu spel (or don’t use big words).
January 9th, 2006 at 2:34 pmAll I can say is they can sure dish it out, but they sure can’t take it, can they?
January 9th, 2006 at 2:43 pmTom DeLay is right. He has been such an effective leader that Ronnie Earle ginned up a bogus indictment against him – for a crime that was not even on the books in Texas at the time of the allegedly criminal acts! That indictment has already been dismissed by the judge.
All Earle is left with is a money laundering indictment that he secured in desperation at the last minute. There is no evidence of money laundering, of course – merely allegations designed to keep DeLay out of his leadership post under GOP House rules.
The press never reports tha fact that the Democrats who keep whining about a so-called “culture of corruption” have no similar rule. In other words, Nanacy Pelosi in a similar situation would be allowed to remain in her leadership position despite a similar felony indictment, and would not automatically be forced to step down. So you tell me: Which congressional caucus is more corrupt?
PS: Over the weekend Harry Reid flatly refused to return money he received from Jack Abramoff’s clients.
January 9th, 2006 at 2:50 pmThe GOP leadership is disgraceful, but the rest of these scumbags in Congress are complicit for never speaking out and allowing it to balloon into the massive scandal that it has become.
Once again, you reap what you sow.
May all of the crooks be locked up for a very long time. Hey, I-R-I and Co. whatever happened to the good old days of “cleaning up Washington” and “personal responsibility”? LOL!
January 9th, 2006 at 2:51 pm#69,
January 9th, 2006 at 2:54 pmIs “crimal” supposed to be criminal or primal? You should move out of your glass house before throwing stones.
I don’t understand why, when defending crooks, republicans such as A REAL AMERICAN, think the prosecution is politically motivated. It must be some kind of projection. Is there a question as to the legality of what Delay is charged with? Eveidently, yes. Would republicans relax a bit if delay’s political affiliation were omitted when folks discuss the pending legal proceedings? It’s time for the double standard to go. Or are you saying that only republican can indict republicans?
January 9th, 2006 at 2:54 pmAh,yes,Abramoff “linked cash” must mean from say,Greenberg Traurig, one of JA’s employers? I looked at the FEC website for Greenberg and they gave to just about everybody on both sides of the aisle. If,on the other hand, look up Abramoff and it’s all Republicans.
January 9th, 2006 at 2:54 pmI know, let’s ask TP to add to their Abramoff database and we can play the Kevin Bacon game only with Jack as Kevin.
How many degrees of seperation are there in each of Abramoff’s donations? That would be interesting.
So if the equivalent of a second cousin twice removed gave cash to a PAC which donated to Hillary, would that be Abramof linked cash?
I look forward to the dissection of these donations. What do you think?
DeLay Believes Eight Grand Juries in Conspiracy…
This would mean the other Republicans indicted are actually moles, planted by Democratic operatives to work their way through the party structure for years, waiting for the chance to force DeLay to illegally launder election funds from corporations i…..
January 9th, 2006 at 2:55 pm“effective leader…
All Earle is left with…
There is no evidence…
merely allegations”
This is the common phrasiology that has been used to substitute real defense of “Pay to Play” politics and the practice of blackmailing donors into hiring along party lines, Blue State Red. The Republicans had a tremendous opportunity to dominate the political scene but they muffed it. Couldn’t handle it. They just aren’t smart enough. Shame.
January 9th, 2006 at 3:04 pmThere are clear distinctions you are either ignoring or ignorant of, and you are being very dishonest in doing so.
Comment by M. Duchamp
You may think the distinctions are clear but I see muddy little Donk hoof tracks on the road from the dirty money store and everybody from Hillary to Pelosi’s pool boy scrambling to get shed of it. All except for Reid who’s never made an honest dollar in his life and will be damned if he’s going to apologize for it. Besides, you don’t expect ME to play by the rules in this snake pit do you?
January 9th, 2006 at 3:10 pmTrolls are idiots or paid stooges. It took me about 2 weeks of perusing progressive websites they post at (in stark contrast to right-wing sites, where liberal comments are banned) to figure out that their posts can be broken down as such:
1) Changing the subject — 35%
2) Making statements that are provably false — 55%
3) Words such as “the,” “and,” and “is.”
I don’t even read their posts anymore. There just is no “there”, there.
January 9th, 2006 at 3:10 pmTom DeLay blames indictment on conspiracy between Democrats, the District Attorney, and 8 Grand Juries…

I-R-I = star pupil in the Sean Hannity/Bill O’Reilly Class of Lying! “Just make up numbers that make me look good or, better yet, make you look bad. We don’t need to worry about facts! By the time someone else debunks us, our Kool Aid drinking fans will have already bought our shit and deny that the facts/truth are anything more but reactionary slime tactics”. That’s what makes ‘follow me; I’ll take you to the promised land’ so f*ing dangerous! When did it become such a burden to THINK FOR YOURSELF rather than believing what you hear from known liars.
January 9th, 2006 at 3:17 pm#78
I-R-I, if you have to lie to prove your point, then your point is incorrect.
For anyone who doesn’t know, “I-RIGHT-I” is a gun enthusiasts term. It means “right” between the “eyes.” Why, then, is our I-Right-I so inaccurate? Because it’s hard to hit the target when your eyes are closed. Remember I-R-I, breath out slowly and gently close your finger around the keyboard keys. You keep missing the target.
January 9th, 2006 at 3:23 pmWho cares if someone reports a crime out of a “political motivation” to bring down the perpetrator? Should a criminal go free just because he has political enemies? Who in Washington doesn’t have political enemies?
If a prominent Green Party pol murdered his wife, and a Libertarian found out about it and reported him, because among other things he despises Green politics – WHO CARES?! A murderer is a murderer! Same goes for all crimes and misdemeanors. The alleged criminal will be tried according to the alleged crime, not who he associates with or which exclusive country club he belongs to.
If DeLay is guilty, he’ll be proven so, assuming his trial is fair and unbiased, and that the system works as intended. I would just as soon not listen at all to his protestations. If the charges are nothing more than political maneuvering by Ronnie Earle, as he says, then what’s he complaining about, he has nothing to worry over – the jury talks, and BS walks.
Republicans and Democrats should want exactly the same outcome: guilty verdicts for guilty defendants and not guilty verdicts for the other kind. If they are true Americans as they claim, they should not be rooting for anyone to ellude justice just because they agree with his/her politics.
BTW – I-R-I, you had me going with that Democrat sleaze list – I was going to thank you then read that these officials actually didn’t take Abramoff money. BUT – if they had, I’d say – hang ‘em high.
I have integrity. I want guys on “my side” to pay the price when they step outside the law, same as guys on “your side.” I thought Americans all agreed on this kind of blind justice but apparently I learned civics too well.
Ach, du.
Hope you’re all well. It’s sunny and cold here. Hope you’re breathing fresh, clean air where you are.

That’s a fine point … I think DeLay deserves whatever he gets if the accusations are correct.
January 9th, 2006 at 3:37 pmThe comment above about DeLay running for Congress to get the DDT ban lifted reminded me of the day I met sweet Tommy in the Continental Airlines Presidents Club at Naitonal Airport. I confronted him about his comments that DDT had produced no observable environmental problems and he confirmed what I said. I then suggested “Congressman, when you get back to Houston tonight I think you should drink a liter of DDT and call me Monday morning to let me know how you’re feeling.” Tommy didn’t have a patented smart ass remark however his bodyguard who was bigger than Mr T stepped in front of me and said “sir, I think you should take a seat.” I replied, “No thanks, I’m enjoying standing right here.” At that point the body guard took DeLay’s arm and scurried him away. Apparently the pompous little ass has been a chickenshit bully for a long time.

Absolutely! Let’s not forget the story about how Mr. DeLay wanted to light up a cigar in a Washington restaurant. A waiter reminded him that federal law prohibited it and he replied, “I am the federal government.”
I heard no report on whether or not he put out the cigar. My guess would be no.

Hey, nothing wrong (in my opinion) with enjoying some red meat and a glass (or two) of red wine. I don’t care for the tobacco (smoked or chewed) though. The lack of ethics and wanton corruption, on the other hand, is what I find really disgusting. ;)
