“The 12 lobbyists who now work at ASG — other than Rudy and Buckham — intend to start a successor firm and intend to keep as many of the clients as possible, according to one of the lobbyists.”
They’re like a junk furniture store that files for bankruptcy and reopens about once a year under a different name. Pretty big names in there, too. Microsoft, Fannie Mae, drugs.
Any politician, Democratic or Republican, who continues to do business with Rudy and Buckham deserves to be voted out of office. I hope that TP (and others) keep track of who does business with these guys, so we’ll know for sure who in Congress doesn’t have the sense to stay away from trouble.
All nine members of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals voted to not dismiss Rep. DeLay’s charges or to send them back to a lower court for immediate trial.
This MUST be partisan attack against Republicans! Only an idiot would think it wasn’t! Or maybe a un-patriotic communist! Or a Democrat! Right?!?!? (Come on, trolls, back me up here!)
Well, since all nine members of the court are Republicans, I guess Rep. DeLay is actually being held accountable for his actions. Oh my God! The end of the world is near! A Republican is being held responsible for his actions!
(Sarcasm heavily laced in certain sentences. I’ll let the reader decide for themselves which ones. ;-)
The news media and its Bushite pundits (like CNN’s Wolf Bullshi**er and his sidekick Jack Makesmelafferty) are all up in arms about Harry Belafonte’s remarks in Venzuela where he called Bushiva a “tyrant and terrorist”. Why does the truth evoke such vituperative denial from the “Loyalists”?
Because they’re catering to the basest instincts of the unevolved, inbred, Bushite base whom they (media networks) hope to attract (a’ la the Fox Propaganda network faithful)…
He*l,all the world needs to do is to look at what’s going on in Washington with the many blunders and the corruption attached to this criminal bushite junta to realize that the US has NO BUSINESS seeking to export democracy anywhere, until we clean up our own house.
Yes, there ARE millions in this country who support the indigenous peoples of South america taking back control of their lands, natural resources, and governments from the filthy, murderous, right wing, oligarchal, plutocratic, racist “gringos”/ ugly corporate Americans….
The right wing Bushites are spreading lies about the “legally” elected president ofVenezuela Hugo Chavez’ being a dictator. What a joke!
The single most positive thing that Bushiva hasdone is caused a movement throughout the world of alliances and coalitions amongst countries of color, shutting out the imperialist, greedy European/American corporate scoundrels…
It’s about time, as they’ve been exploited long enough!
Bushiva and his right wing Al-Cracka base can’t stand the thought of losing control of the natural resources in South America, or poor people actually having a voice (and land) in determining their countries’ futures.
Right on Harry Belafonte, keep speaking truth to power!
the tragic part of the ripple effects of something like abramoff is that perfectly innocent folks will fall with him… i’m sure the alexander group has at least one single parent, working mom, who is now going to have to struggle to find other employment and hope to hell she can find it fast enough to keep up with the bills…
Somehow somewhere the RICO statues have to apply here. Is it just the lobbiests or is it perhaps the whole republican party? I’m not talking each and every member, but more along the lines of the national party organization. This seems way too organized.
Has anyone in the press corps yet asked Little Scotty if W is still holding firm on his vociferously stated confidence in the Bugman’s innocence? They really need to throw that one in his face.
#9 – Though I agree with you in spirit (I saw a number of honest, hard-working friends go through the turmoil of the collapse of Arthur Andersen), I see things a little differently here. Those plugged into the GOP machine, regardless of indictments, will be taken care of. Those without the connections will carry the stigma on their resume of having worked for these criminal bums.
Regardless of their guilt, no one in that crowd goes down easy — look for their version of Whack-a-mole, as they crop up somewhere else under a new name.
Isn’t it interesting that Harry Belafonte and Baby Noor make the news repeatedly over the past few days, when the 24/7 news channels should be providing information and follow up to the real stories that affect all of us.
While I wish the best for Baby Noor, I wonder how many infants in the USA are suffering because their parents can’t afford proper health care?
How about a story relating the difficulties seniors have had in deciphering the Rx bill, and the screwups that have occurred?
Pension plans being eliminated.
The connections between the Christian Coalition and Abramoff?
The crooks in Washington should all be “out of business” for good.
Sorry – I am off topic — but I got riled up as I typed.
#22 Baby Noor is a stunt to make us all “feel” something emotional about the war, well, other than hatred. I hate props and I hate the using of children to further try to MAKE us think all is fine and dandy in Iraq. Well, I ain’t bitin’.
Phony. Marie, I too want the baby to do well, but just do it, don’t prance her around like a freakin tool. That is so obvious an attempt to do the exact same thing the trolls try to do to us – brainwash, or as they like to call it – convince. Again, nice try, but waaaaaaay shallow.
Like my mom always said, it is better to do good with only yourself knowing than to tell others of your goodness. I see she didn’t want us to use our good doings as a prop for something we may want later. My mom was a strict teacher of karma.
#23, Yes. When we do good deeds, we should be quiet about it. The anonymous donor is far more worthy of respect than the one who boasts and brags about what good he does. This is indeed a photo op (Karl Rove?)
I keep going back to my 2nd grade parable of the rich Pharisee and the poor Publican.
I am not religious, but the moral lessons of the Bible, of Aesop, of Bhudda, and other wisemen have stood the test of time.
do not worry. they will re-open with another name and another set of corrupt assholes
