More dangerous theocratic statements from the mouth of Peeping George...

"We are defending the nobility of normal lives, lived in obedience to God and conscience, not to government."

"From the day of our Founding, we have proclaimed that every man and woman on this earth has rights, and dignity, and matchless value, because they bear the image of the Maker of Heaven and earth."

"Dealing with Congress is a matter of give and take. The president doesn't get everything he wants, the Congress doesn't get everything they want. But we're finding good common ground. A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there's no question about it."

"I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we're really talking about peace."

"There's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee, that says 'Fool me once . . . shame on . . . shame on you . . . Imafoola...I can't get fooled again.'"

Okay. I guess it is trivia time. Tything is not part of mass, fool. Tything is giving 10% of your income, and it is done during the collection, between the Liturgy of the Word, and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. I actually haven’t been to confession for awhile. Have you? And, last but not least, the Eucharist is housed in the tabernacle, which is located on the false alter, usually located behind the actually alter. Anything else?

You can't even spell it correctly. It's "tithing". From tithe.

Part of our problem is that so many Americans are just like yo, just about as advanced as a peaseant or serf from the dark ages. Amazing that 1000 years can go by and a majority of the world's population hasn't advanced at all. You are the "useful idiots."

“I put faith in the right wing, because they put faith in the individual man, and the ability of the individual man to take responsiblility in himself. I believe in smaller government, lower taxes (and a flat tax), and little or no income re-distribution. What I earn, I want to keep. I don’t believe in giving my money away to welfare duds, and all others on dependant on social programs, and have no incentive to get off. This is America. You succeed or fail based on your efforts, not on how much money you can suck out of the government. I believe in basic rights wrongs, good and evil. I am a Christian. I despise abortion and homosexuality. For all these reasons, I embrace the conservative, right-wing agenda. A REAL AMERICAN”

You are a brave fellow, tho. It takes real balls to be against the poor. The rich and powerful might hurt you. They may even toss you a crumb or a scrap of food. Better not be mean to them. Craven Coward.

So, is it the contention of some posters here that Sen. Kennedy has his nerve for asking for papers on an organization that recall-plagued Alito has no memory of, because he is fat, and there is scandal in his past? Those are some standards!!! Well, our very own First Lady killed an old boyfriend of hers. Ran him over with her car. Of course, THEY say it was an accident. So what? But if Alito's champions are saying that he was not sullied by his involvement in the CAP org., then prove it! Shouldn't be a problem, right? Ok then... whip it out! Waiting......

Ok, I'm not Catholic so maybe I'm wrong, but isn't the Offering and the Eucharist part of the mass? It is in the Episcopal Church.

I forgot one...

"It's also important to strengthen our communities by unleashing the compassion of America's religious institutions. Religious charities of every creed are doing some of the most vital work in our country--mentoring children, feeding the hungry, taking the hand of the lonely. Yet government has often denied social service grants and contracts to these groups, just because they have a cross or a Star of David or a crescent on the wall. By executive order, I have opened billions of dollars in grant money to competition that includes faith-based charities. Tonight I ask you to codify this into law, so people of faith can know that the law will never discriminate against them again."

In no way is Bush as artiulate as Hitler, so it makes him seem less deadly. But bear in mind that because Hitler came first, modernity requires a Political temperence of Bush... But it doesn't erode the fact that the spirit of his intentions are still just as dangerous as Hitler's. To be gracious, I pulled these from a pro-Bush, anti-abortion, conservative Christian website. These are the tame ones they advocate...

"The cause we serve is right, because it is the cause of all mankind. The momentum of freedom in our world is unmistakable--and it is not carried forward by our power alone. We can trust in that greater power who guides the unfolding of the years. And in all that is to come, we can know that His purposes are just and true."
--State of the Union Address, January 20, 2004

"We need common-sense judges who understand our rights were derived from God,"
--"Understanding the President and his God"

"Religion is an important part. I never want to impose my religion on anybody else. But when I make decisions I stand on principle. And the principles are derived from who I am. I believe we ought to love our neighbor like we love ourself.

In no way is Bush as artiulate as Hitler, so it makes him seem less deadly. But bear in mind that because Hitler came first, modernity requires a Political temperence of Bush… But it doesn’t erode the fact that the spirit of his intentions are still just as dangerous as Hitler’s. To be gracious, I pulled these from a pro-Bush, anti-abortion, conservative Christian website. These are the tame ones they advocate…

“The cause we serve is right, because it is the cause of all mankind. The momentum of freedom in our world is unmistakable–and it is not carried forward by our power alone. We can trust in that greater power who guides the unfolding of the years. And in all that is to come, we can know that His purposes are just and true.”

Do you have any examples of Hitler’s “theocratic” decrees?

Comment by Mleko — January 12, 2006 @ 1:03 pm

Of course, I don't just make stuff up...

"I believe today that I am acting in the sense of the Almighty Creator. By warding off the Jews I am fighting for the Lord's work."
-Adolph Hitler, Speech, Reichstag, 1936

"Secular schools can never be tolerated because such schools have no religious instruction, and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith . . . we need believing people."
-Adolf Hitler, April 26, 1933, from a speech made during negotiations leading to the Nazi-Vatican Concordant of 1933

"I have followed [the Church] in giving our party program the character of unalterable finality, like the Creed. The Church has never allowed the Creed to be interfered with. It is fifteen hundred years since it was formulated, but every suggestion for its amendment, every logical criticism, or attack on it, has been rejected. The Church has realized that anything and everything can be built up on a document of that sort, no matter how contradictory or irreconcilable with it. The faithful will swallow it whole, so long as logical reasoning is never allowed to be brought to bear on it."
-Adolf Hitler, from Rauschning, _The Voice of Destruction_, pp. 239-40

"What we have to fight for...is the freedom and independence of the fatherland, so that our people may be enabled to fulfill the mission assigned to it by the Creator."
-Adolph Hitler, Mein Kampf, pp. 125

"This human world of ours would be inconceivable without the practical existence of a religious belief."
-Adolph Hitler, Mein Kampf, pp.152

What disturbs me about this communication between Specter and Kennedy was not so much that Specter lied. After all, its what we've come to expect. The real problem is two fold. First, they are willing to lie to each other thinking that they won't be called on it because of some professional courtesy. Secondly, I wonder how much of the crucial business of running our nation is conducted in the gym between sets or curls or a steam bath?

For once Ted Kennedy showed some balls.

Those of you making these inane comparison insults of calling people fascists and Hitlers have both no grasp of history and no idea of what true evil is.

Your comment is insane... Wake up and take a look at our government. It doesn't get much more 'evil' than this. Hitler's 'evilness' grew over the course of time. This is the very same path he started out on with theocratic decrees and police state erosions of liberty. Clearly you haven't read a history book since third grade, or been awake since then either. Why don't you catch up rather than hang out in here whining about us exercizing our right of free speech.

Grow up, be a good person. Live the kind of life you think others should live. Stop whining about everyone else.

Yes, because you're setting such a morally high standard by bitching like a crabby six year old about something not including you...
