Earlier today, White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan revealed a great deal about the President’s lack of commitment to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. The administration’s rhetoric remained the same. “The President is going to continue visiting the region I expect throughout his presidency,” McClellan said. “This is a top priority for the President.â€
Bush, however, hasn’t visited the region for 3 months. McClellan said this trip would last less than twenty-four hours — Bush is returning to Washington this evening.
But Bush isn’t even going to spend all of that short period of time in the region ravaged by Katrina. Tonight, Bush will attend a fundraiser at the Palm Beach home of Bush “Ranger†Dwight Schar, who raised more than $200,000 for the President during the 2004 election.
Three months of ignoring the problem, a cursory visit, all capped off with a multi-million dollar fundraiser – pretty much par for the course for Bush in New Orleans.
Another day, another tax-payer financed GOP fundraiser. I wonder if the lady who’s receiving the award knows she’s just a handy excuse.
January 12th, 2006 at 5:51 pmdisgusting, and unfortunately par for the course
January 12th, 2006 at 5:52 pmHopefully there will be a nice photo op.
Who am I kidding. Of course there will be a photo op.
January 12th, 2006 at 5:53 pmI once wrote FRONTLINE about using TAXPAYER money to fund bushes trips for repubs fund raisers. They let me know it’s true. Let bushie use his OWN MONEY to do that on HIS OWN TIME , which he has none because he is on duty 24/7. Now go park airforce 1 and start using the airport like everyone else? …or better yet RESIGN IN SHAME, AND CONFESS, you’ve already wasted the ‘bush’ name, forever.
January 12th, 2006 at 5:54 pmHE will probably spend more time in Florida than in N.O. but you wouldnt know that from the SCLM….
January 12th, 2006 at 5:57 pmPay off an MBA preznit, Get TORT reform for your Businesses
January 12th, 2006 at 5:58 pm________________________________________________
Schar was pulled beyond his local sphere of influence by George W. Bush, whom he calls the “most qualified guy in the United States.” In February 1999, Schar was part of a Virginia delegation that went to Austin to lunch with Bush and urge him to run for the White House. When Bush entered the race, Schar was pleased. The Texas governor pledged to support efforts to limit court awards against companies found guilty of harming workers and consumers. “I believe in tort reform,” Schar says.
You know this guy schar must be misleading people, he called Bush the most competent man in the United States.
January 12th, 2006 at 6:00 pmSome “top priority”. What a total nightmare. Tax breaks for the wealthy, and war for the commoners. The bastard has taken more vacation days and does little work when he is in Washington. He does not give a rat’s ass about New Orleans.
January 12th, 2006 at 6:08 pmTo mix metaphors; money speaks louder than bullshit walks.
January 12th, 2006 at 6:10 pmWe have the worst president that money has ever bought.
buzzbike: The dough tells the story. There are a lot of rich people who became more wealthy. The power elite is running the country and the rest of us can go and die for Bush’s “vision”
January 12th, 2006 at 6:18 pmText of Bush’s speech in New Orleans:
“Heckuva Job, Brownie!!!
…Oops, I mean Mayor Nag-um-Neg-uh-Nagin? Nagin? Nagin. It was HARD, HARD work – very HARD…but…Mission Accomplished!!! Well, I’m off to the funraiser now, buh-bye!”
January 12th, 2006 at 6:36 pmI heard he’ll be met by protesters wearing life vests in NO and I’m sure he’ll do his best to duck them like the wimp that he is.
January 12th, 2006 at 6:38 pmJudd,
Not quite on topic here.
In the past I have argued against a filibuster Roberts & Miers. Well, now is the time!
PROVOKE THE NUCLEAR OPTION!
The timing is PERFECT to provoke the nuclear option. With the GOP corruption scandal, the Bush illegal wiretapping, post-Katrina disaster, the elimination of the filibuster will cement the GOP as the corrupt power whores they are.
But will our leadership get it? Will they become a true minority force?
January 12th, 2006 at 6:45 pmI wonder if Mayor Nagin will refuse the asdministration’s inevitable request to set up “free speech zones” so that the president doesn’t have to have his feelings hurt by seeing people who don’t think he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I do believe that Kanye West was right, “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.” If he did, he wouldn’t mix this trip to New Orleans with a multi-million dollar fundraiser. It’s obvious that the money is the only reason he’s even going near the city. He couldn’t care less about any of the people living there, except for the rich ones.
As George Bush said to his friend once, “I don’t know how poor people think. I’m just a rich white kid.” Too bad he never bothered to take the time to learn anything that might have made him a better public official.
January 12th, 2006 at 6:45 pmJohn: Bush does not have the cajones to meet anyone that is not on his terms. Everything is a staged photo-op. This guy is not just a wimp, he is a coward and a liar.
January 12th, 2006 at 6:47 pmWith junior’s sharp wit, magnetic personality and overwhelming popularity present at the fundraiser, they’ll be giving tickets away again.
January 12th, 2006 at 6:52 pmHe’ll look like Tony Montana at the dining table, drunk, of course, arguing with his wife.
The only reason that W is taking a side trip to NOLA is because he can move all of the expense of Air Force 1 to we citizens. The GOP will propably end up paying about $116 for the trip that will burn up more fuel than 600 SUV’s for a simular junket.
January 12th, 2006 at 7:02 pmI meant “most” not “all” – sorry about the exageration.
January 12th, 2006 at 7:03 pmJust a side note:
cAjones = drawers
cOjones = yes, *those* thingies
But, yes, Bush hasn’t enough drawers to hide his thingies out of harm when danger (peaceful protesters are dangeorous only because wear life vests?) is hovering his void head. He simply runs.
January 12th, 2006 at 7:08 pmIt is a proven fact the 50% of most crowds Bush visits are those cardboard cut-outs used in the crowd scenes in the movie “Field of Dreams”, the remainder are people who have a close relative being held hostage in Guantanimo Bay and were told to smile and clap or else “Nana gets two lead bullets in da back of da head”.

You should have seen him duck and run when he was in Chicago last week. What a pansy. THIS is NOT how the leader of what was once a great nation behaves.
The man is a complete panty waste.
January 12th, 2006 at 7:12 pmEvil: thanks for the correction. You know what I meant.
January 12th, 2006 at 7:18 pmDebtonator: Remember how he tried to duck out the door when he was in China? This president is a clown, but his results are not funny. People are being rendered all over the world due to our “policies”. When all else fails we should “go shopping”. What a stupid remark by a stupid person. Time to impeach.
January 12th, 2006 at 7:21 pmDOes anybody else think there is something wrong with this picture. (Besides Bush wearing his now famous costumes).
What the hell is with Chimpy’s monkey hand.
January 12th, 2006 at 7:31 pmNot to mention that he is sitting like a girl.
January 12th, 2006 at 7:32 pmSpudgeBoy: Mission accomplished. I get upset just looking at his face. He has a kind of arrogance that is not suitable for a President.
January 12th, 2006 at 7:36 pmKing George will need all those donations for his impeachment defense fund.

January 12th, 2006 at 8:35 pmReply to post 25 Spudge_Boy: Yep Bush is sitting like a girl because he is actually a Fem guy cheerleader and remember that Jeff Gannon came to the White House to render escort services for Georgie > lol.
January 12th, 2006 at 8:39 pmAS for Bush going to New Orleans: It is just another photo op and he gets to be seen with a black Mayor Naggin, who is another Brownie idiot himself!

an impressive facade or show designed to hide an undesirable fact or condition.
Bushie simply made a cursory stop in the least ravaged area of N.O. for a photo op. The main reason for Bush’s trip was the fund raiser and anyone who thinks otherwise has buried his head in the sand.
Kanye West was right – Bush doesn’t care about black people, or poor people, or anyone who hasn’t donated big bucks to him. If you can’t be of use to him or his friends, you are as worthless as those Potemkin cardboard people and their houses.
I hear it’s easy to cross your legs like that when your balls are missing. Perhaps I-R-I can back me up on that.
January 12th, 2006 at 8:43 pmBush is such a cheerleader for corporate excess.

January 12th, 2006 at 8:48 pmBush Goes to NOLA. Meets with Dwight Schar…
And why should you care? Let’s start with an overview of the New Orleans trip -…
January 12th, 2006 at 8:51 pmRadical cleric, Pat Robertson, who earlier called Hurricane Katrina the rath of God on New Orleans and more recently called Ariel Sharon’s stroke the divine retribution today refuted the Word of God, says it is “inappropriate and insensitive.”
January 12th, 2006 at 9:06 pmThis is an excellent case for impeachment by former House member Elizabeth Holtzman who had a hand in the Nixon impeachment process…before he resigned I suppose. It’s a little long but very succinct and worth the time if you have it.
http://www.commondreams.org/views06/0112-20.htm
January 12th, 2006 at 9:09 pmHe’s doing a heckuva job. His pet project in Iraq can wait a day or two while he flys by the seat of his pants.
All of these fundraisers tells me one thing: He doesn’t have anything to do.
Vote Bush in 2008, 2012 and 2016 Might as well, nothing better than a President who has nothing to do except waste his life living a fantasy. Long Live George Bush, my favorite nitwit.
January 12th, 2006 at 9:20 pmI knew something was up when I noticed Dumbya made his “surprise” visit to New Orleans wearing a suit and tie (instead of his usual “hard workin’” outfit of rolled up shirt sleeves)! Of course, he was a duded up in his Sunday-go-to-meetin’ costume for the real reason for his trip…the fundraiser in Palm Beach. (This is a guy who was definitely NOT headed to the 9th Ward to help with debris and mold clean up!) What a snark this cretin is…jammerin’ on about “dramatic progress” (isn’t that his standard b.s. for the situation in Iraq??). Same b.s…..different flavor…different city…yadda, yadda, yadda! I hope they have lots of pretzels in Palm Beach!!!
January 12th, 2006 at 10:47 pmSpeaking of fundraisers…
4th quarter fundraising numbers are starting to show up on the FEC website today.

Shameless, shameless I say, PLUG!
January 12th, 2006 at 11:04 pmHey! Wouldn’t W be healthier if he rode his dirt bike to all these Fund raisers instead of Air Force 1? He could tote along his chain saw and a couple pruning shears and clear the innerstates of weeds and unwanted growth.
January 13th, 2006 at 12:01 amOops – interstates

January 13th, 2006 at 7:12 amPlease everyone, contact the leaders of our party and tell them they are hardly making a dent in the massive amount of Bush/GOP scandals. I wrote this to Howard Dean:
HOWARD, DEMOCRATIC PARTY:
I AM GLAD THAT WE ARE RAISING TONS OF MONEY BUT IT WILL TAKE MORE THAN MONEY TO WAKE THIS COMATOSE COUNTRY UP ! ! !
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THIS DEMOCRATIC PARTY???? DO WE NOT HAVE ANY BALLS WHATSOEVER ? ? ?
WE NEED MORE SOPHISTICATION AND RELENTLESS DRUM BEATING ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OUR PARTY AND THAT INSANELY CORRUPT, UNETHICAL, HYPOCRITICAL REPUBLICAN PARTY ! ! !
IT SEEMS LIKE HARDLY ANY DEMOCRATS ESPECIALLY THOSE IN THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE HAVE ANY CLUE WHATSOEVER ON HOW TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ANY OF THESE ALMOST DAILY BUSH/GOP SCANDALS!
I CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE! THEIR PERFORMANCE IN THE ALITO HEARINGS WAS ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC. IT APPEARED TO BE TOTALLY DISORGANIZED AND WEAK!
I READ MANY, MANY DEMOCRATIC BLOGS AND I MUST TELL YOU THAT THE MANY OF THE BLOGGERS/POSTERS ARE READY TO THROW IN THE TOWEL. THEY/WE FEEL THAT THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY SEEMS TO LACK ANY COHESIVE PLAN TO SHOW AMERICA HOW MUCH BUSH HAS RAILROADED THIS COUNTRY IN 5 YEARS.
THE GOP IS CAUGHT IN THE BIGGEST CONGRESSIONAL SCANDAL IN OUR HISTORY AND WE ARE BARELY GETTING A BLIP ON THE RADAR~!
ACCORDING TO THE LATEST PEW POLL, ONLY 18% OF AMERICANS EVEN CARE ABOUT THIS MASSIVE JACK ABRAMOFF SCANDAL!
YOU GUYS REALLY, REALLY NEED TO GET IT TOGETHER. WE NEED MORE ORGANIZATION AND RUTHLESS FOLLOW THROUGH!
OUR PARTY SEEMS TO BE RESEMBLING SOME SORT OF BEATEN WIFE SYNDROME OR SOMETHING! KIND OF LIKE, OH, YEAH, I HATE WHAT’S HAPPENING BUT I AM JUST NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT SO I’LL JUST STAY AND TAKE THE DAILY ABUSE!
LET’S SEE, WE HAVE (AND THIS IS ONLY A SMALL, PARTIAL LIST):
AN ENORMOUS GOP SCANDAL INVOLVING JACK ABRAMOFF INVOLVING DOZENS OF REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMEN/SENATORS
REPUBLICANS ALREADY GETTING AHEAD OF DEMS IN LEGISLATING REFORM
A GROWING CIVIL WAR IN IRAQ AS A RESULT OF THESE SO CALLED ‘DEMOCRATIC ELECTIONS’
ABSOLUTE, DEFINITE, INDISPUTABLE PROOF THAT BUSH LIED US INTO WAR
A PRESIDENT WHO HAS ALREADY PLANNED TO START A WAR WITH IRAN WITHOUT TELLING CONGRESS OR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE
A SUPREME COURT NOMINEE THAT IS ABSOLUTELY A RACIST AND A BIGGOT, APPROVES OF STRIP SEARCHES OF 10 YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRLS YET WILL BE APPROVED ANYWAY
A PRESIDENT WHO WANTS TO BE KING AND LIQUIDATE CONGRESS AND THE COURTS
A PRESIDENT WHO BOLDY DECLARES HE IS ABOVE THE LAW
AN ENORMOUS, HISTORY MAKING DEFECIT
AMERICA LIVING OFF OF INDIA AND CHINA
AN ADMINISTRATION THAT RUNS THE COUNTRY AS IF IT WERE WAL MART
1 MILLION MORE AMERICANS IN POVERTY SINCE THE IDIOT TOOK OFFICE
A CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS UNFOLDING BEFORE OUR VERY EYES
A PRESIDENT PERMITTING SPYING ON GROUPS SUCH AS QUAKERS, PETA, GREENPEACE, VEGANS (and he’s using spys that are supposed to be focusing on WMD’s.)
A PRESIDENT WHO SUPPORTS YET LIES ABOUT HIRING PEOPLE TO PLANT PRO-IRAQ WAR STORIES IN NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL MEDIA
MAINSTREAM MEDIA SECRETLY GIVING BLOW JOBS TO THE WHITE HOUSE (RUSSERT, MATTHEWS, JUDY MILLER, BOB WOODWARD, ETC)
A PRESIDENT WHO WAS SECRETLY ALLOWING TORTURE OF ‘SUSPECTS’(that haven’t even been charged and are being held indefinitely) BUT THEN AFTER THE CAT IS OUT OF THE BAG, BUSH SIGNS INTO LAW, BUT WHILE DOING SO, ‘TELLS’ US HE REALLY DOESN’T GIVE A SHIT AND THE BILL IS WORTHLESS
AN ADMINISTRATION LYING ABOUT SECRET GULAGS ALL OVER THE WORLD
AN ADMINISTRATION THAT IS BUDDY BUDDY WITH CHALABI, A MAN WHO SOLD US SECRETS TO IRAN AND LIED ABOUT A SADDAM/OSAMA CONNECTION
AN ADMINISTRATION WHO ALLOWS THEIR OIL EXEC BUDDIES TO TESTIFY (WITHOUT BEING UNDER OATH) AND LIE DIRECTLY TO THE SENATE…YET NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT
A PRESIDENT PLEADING WITH HIS OWN SUPREME COURT TO OVERLOOK THE LITTLE PADILLA MISHAP
80% OF MARINES THAT COULD HAVE SURVIVED ATTACKS IN IRAQ HAD BUSH/RUMMY PROVIDED THEM WITH THE PROPER EQUIPMENT
PROOF THAT MINING ACCIDENTS/DEATHS HAVE INCREASED SINCE BUSH TOOK OFFICE AND CHOSE TO CUT SAFETY INSPECTIONS
A COMPLETE DISASTER WITH THIS SUPPOSED ‘NEWER’ ‘BETTER’ MEDICARE PRESCRIPTION DRUG PLAN
AND SO MUCH MORE!!!!
THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY HAS BARELY MADE A DENT IN ANY OF THE ABOVE! I AM ACTUALLY STARTING TO BELIEVE WE SOMEHOW WANT TO LOSE!
YOU ARE LOSING DEMOCRATIC BLOGGER SUPPORT ON A DAILY BASIS. I HAVE READ MANY POSTS OF DEMS JUST SAYING THEY CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE BECAUSE OUR PARTY IS COMPLETELY INEFFECTIVE AND INCOMPETENT AT TAKING ADVANTAGE OF SCANDAL AFTER SCANDAL AFTER SCANDAL. MANY SAY THEY HAVE SCANDAL FATIGUE. THE GOP IS HOPING FOR THIS AND BENEFITING FROM IT.
YOU NEED TO GET ORGANIZED ABOUT EFFECTIVELY CHALLENGING EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THESE SCANDALS. I KNOW THAT THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA IS IN BED WITH THE WHITE HOUSE SO WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO FIND OTHER MEANS TO EXPOSE THEM FOR WHAT THEY ARE!!
PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU GUYS HAVE YOUR SHIT TOGETHER!!
UGH.
SO DISAPPOINTED AND DISCOURAGED,

Melanie in Seattle has hit the nail on the head with her letter to Dean. The democrats unfortunately are feeding off the same trough that the evil republicans are. That’s why a senator like Feinstein, and others, really support the war, etc., they are just corporate whores. Welcome to fascist theocratic America. Enjoy Alito because we are screwed by these religious idiots.
January 13th, 2006 at 7:41 amI respect Howard Dean for his willingness to fight and speak truth to liars, but the heavy hitters in his own party spend more time distancing themselves from him (and his courageous statements) than they spend getting behind him. You can pinpoint the frauds in the Democratic party by how much time they spend disagreeing with Howard Dean. He has no power as party chair until these douchenozzles (thanks Debtonator) get behind him and they won’t do that unless we let them know how much WE support his efforts.
Howard Dean has a chance to make a real difference and he cares about removing corruption from government but he has no authority unless H. Clinton, Joe Biden, Kerry, and the rest of the prominent Democratic frauds do the right thing.
By the way, what the hell happened to John Edwards? He’s maintained a lower profile than Dick Gephart for Christ’s sake! Is the man still in Washington?

Melanie,
Many of us Progressives share your frustration and intense disdain for the scandalous republiscum party, its members and their behavior and beliefs. However, the republiscum party (and its faux conservatism) is unfortunately the way this country seems to be trending…
The scared racist WASP males and their “stepford women”, are afraid that they are fast becoming the minority and will thus lose their privileged status. They are aided and abetted by sick, self loathing minorities who believe that they too can one day become a part of the oppressive elitist/privileged “establishment”, and place their jack boots on the necks of their lesser brothers and sisters…
This country’s conservative philosophy of, “yes I was a recipient of privileged, special treatment to climb the ladder of success, but now it’s time to pull that ladder up, and let the rest eat cake” is the sorry trend that has apparently resonated with far too many right wing, anti-Americans for comfort. The poor and middle working class Al-Crackas who vote republiscum do so because they can’t stand the thought of ANY minority getting ahead, (which is hysterical given the fact that ,again, self loathing minorities vote with them).
In short Melanie, this country is fu*ked waaaay up!
The time is fast approaching when America is going to have to choose btwn its bigots, racists, homophoblc, self loathing inbreds, and its faithfulnessto the ideals of justice, equality and continued support for the Constitution and the rule of law…
At any rate, chances are we’re going to have to take it to the streets to get change. So we all have a decision to make- “is our democratic republic’s future-the ‘Progressive’ version- worth fighting (and possibly dying) for?”…
January 13th, 2006 at 8:57 amYou can pinpoint the frauds in the Democratic party by how much time they spend disagreeing with Howard Dean…
Comment by Jay #49
Jay,
It’s worse than that. I recently saw a poll (though for the record I distrust polls immensely) that said 64% of Connecticut Democrats want Lieberman re-elected, in spite of his disgusting remarks about genuflecting to the corrupt, criminal Bushite junta…
Democrats need to do better…
January 13th, 2006 at 9:01 amGood. He has to raise money so we can roll the left in Nov. Bush’s game is back. NO more free passes for those hate this country and everthing it stands for.
I am glad Hillary was at Harry Belafonte’s fundraiser. We can now paint her with the same stripe we paint you terrorist sympathizers.

Did you hear about Al Gore’s upcoming speech?
Gore to deliver scathing speech Monday on ‘constitutional crisis’ in Washington
If only other Dems would rally behind him…
January 13th, 2006 at 9:09 amThis is the same old double speak that we’ve come to expect from this administration.
You’d expect the so called liberal media to pick up on this, but naaahhh. The “liberal media” is in bed with the so called compasionate conservatives.
January 13th, 2006 at 9:27 am“Three months of ignoring the problem, a cursory visit, all capped off with a multi-million dollar fundraiser – pretty much par for the course for Bush in New Orleans. ”
Yep, we’re all pissed off here in Houston that he didn’t stop off and offer millions of dollars to hire new police to keep up with the 100,000 criminals from New Orleans’ ghettos that we so generously gave shelter to and who decided to stay to rob, steal, rape, murder and litter.
January 13th, 2006 at 9:28 amI-R-I,
You reap what you sow baby. Keep neglecting the poor and the downtrodden and they’ll keep encroaching on your ivory bubble-boy world. The thought of it actually made my day, thanks :)
January 13th, 2006 at 9:35 amTo Melanie (#46) and the immediate replies to Melanie’s letter to Dean, I want to add my agreement.
January 13th, 2006 at 9:40 amIRI’s problem is not that Houston has offered shelter from the storm to poor people. It’s not that his area has been inundated with folks who have nothing but the clothes on their backs. His problem is that they are black. From this, he assumes all else. He assumes they are all from the ghetto and they all are criminals. I explained to him that his bigotry is more suited to 1960 than 2006. He still doesn’t get it.
I’ll ask again IRI. If being balck means that you’re lazy, jobless and criminal minded by default then why doesn’t being a lily white male mean that you are a cannibal (like Jeffrey Dahmer) or a demented, pseudo-christian murderer (like Tim McVeigh)? Answer the question.
January 13th, 2006 at 9:42 amAmy,
Thanks for the info on Edwards, seems like a worthwhile cause. Is he involved in governing at all though? I just can’t believe that he was such a promising young candidate and he’s virtually disappeared from the national stage. He’s smart and charismatic enough and he needs to be out front in the effort to hold the GOP and the Nitwit Administration accountable. Step up John Edwards!
January 13th, 2006 at 9:47 amI am glad Hillary was at Harry Belafonte’s fundraiser. We can now paint her with the same stripe we paint you terrorist sympathizers.
Okay let me follow your logic. Hillary was at the same fundraiser. Belafonte is a terrorist sympathizer. That in turn makes Hillary a terrorist sympathizer. OOOOh I like this game. Abramoff, Delay, Rove and Libby were friends who hung out together. Abramoff is a lying, scheming criminal. Delay, Rove and Libby are lying scheming criminals too. George W. Bush is married to Laura Bush. Goerge W. Bush is a coke sniffing, elitist drunkard traitor. Laura Bush is a coke sniffing, elitist drnkard traitor too. Pat Robertson, a christian minister is a stark raving mad lunatic. All Christians who follow his ministry are also stark raving mad lunatics. Gee, this is fun.

January 13th, 2006 at 9:59 amVidal was right, democracy isn’t man’s natural state, fascism is. Just look at the glee in the Freepers approach to anything that tears at the very fabric of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, from the rise of the Corporate State and the destruction of civil liberties.
They scream that the “free market place” is the answer, but, tell me what is there in the business corporate world that has anything to do with democracy?
The fact is we’re screwed. And if a ground-swell of voters don’t change the Congressional leadership this November (even with the now rigged elections) and start impeachment proceedings I’m gone. I’ll swear to God I’ll give-up my citizenship of this pathetic country and proudly call myself an ex-patriot.
January 13th, 2006 at 10:01 amThe “freepers” or wingnuts or trolls…whatever we call them, are children. Na-na-na-nanana, you lose, we win, suckers! It’s really sad and discouraging to read the posts from these donkeys, they simply don’t get it. C’est la vie, we take the country back and they get to sit and pout the way all ignorant, bigoted bullies do when they realize how small and insignificant they and their beliefs are. Hate and fear, what a horrible existence for the GOP sycophants.
January 13th, 2006 at 10:28 amIs it worth while talking to I-Right-I? I once asked him for a reference on post Katrina violence in Houston and he never replied. Should they be issued a map of NYC steam grates when they visit the city? Boxes to sleep in can be found at any appliance store.

Hmmm, where to begin. Offshoring, outsourcing, inflation, skyrocketing healthcare and energy, willful neglect of inner cities and public education, dismantling of social programs and most pertinent……not protecting the wetlands at the Missisippi delta and shortchanging the Army Core of Engineers mandate to fortify the levee walls.

I can’t be everywhere at once can I. Oh, you found it for yourself? Good job! The figures are 70% increase over those months from last year. I’m telling you they (somebody does) kills someone EVERY FRICKEN NIGHT. We’ve only got three of them (New Orleans Folk) up on murder charges so far but the police are overwhelmed. Last night there was a shoot out between a few of them and the cops were in plain sight right across the street. They nabbed four suspects.
The schools are screaming for protection because ever school that has taken those kids is in lockdown mode because of the violence. These are the poor and downtrodden you’re talking about.
I wonder why it is the poor Chinese immigrants, Mexican immigrants and the “you name it” immigrants who are also “downtrodden” (?) have this problem? Why is it that blacks comprise 12% of the population and do 60% of the violent crime? Hummmm? Hint: You give them an inch and they’ll cut your throat. I think it’s genetic myself but I could be wrong.
It’s past time the Black leaders stop the blame game and the white liberal stop making excuses. Let’s just call a spade a spade and take the appropriate steps to safeguard the people of this country no matter what color they are.

January 13th, 2006 at 12:01 pmYou seem to be saying that the Katrina victums are killing each other off. Why aren’t you out there handing them 50 caliber automatic rifles? According to you, they would be gone in a few weeks time.
Have you ever considered sensitivity training?

Uh, hello, earth to IRI?? Put down Mein Kampf and go read some history instead. You do know that most blacks are the descendents of people who were ripped from their own country and forced to become slaves in a country that did not even consider them human beings, right? And like it or not, we are all a product of cultural indoctrination from our ancestors.
Decades after the emancipation of slavery, ‘negroes’ were still required to sit on the back of a bus, drink from a different water fountain, and eat in seperate dining facilities. You don’t think that has an impact on a race that can no more hide the color of their skin than you can stop using yours to disrespect your fellow Americans?? Most of them are hard-working, respectable people. A few are still angry for the fact that they are still discriminated against.
But if you want a bigger hint – perhaps if you start treating them like human beings, they will act that way. You’re a bigger part of the problem than those who rebel against it.

Human beings are nearly identical genetically — think cheetahs. Every human being is quite like every other human being. So blaming genetics for violence or crime is mainly silly. There are a couple of exceptions but thats for families not big populations.
* I don’t know precisely where I read this but it was about genetic diversity in chimp bands vs genetic diversity in homo sapiens.
A lot of the New Orleans people have ended up as victims of violence, not perpetrators. Houston police said that local gang activity accounts for much of the murders. How are Katrina refugees responsible for Houston gangs?
January 13th, 2006 at 1:34 pmhttp://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/3541466.html
An upward swing in the city’s homicide rate — up by nearly a quarter from last year — isn’t the only thing concerning Houston police. Officers say they are seeing more stranger-on-stranger crime, a resurgence of gang activity and more violence around apartment complexes, especially those swelled with an influx of Katrina evacuees.
Though officials acknowledged that at least eight of the homicides involved hurricane evacuees, Houston Police Department Chief Harold Hurtt said Wednesday that it was incorrect to assume that “the reason that crime is up in the last quarter of this year is evacuees from Louisiana. A lot of this is (attributed) to homegrown citizens.”
Translation: If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck the politically correct will look to see if the duck is on the list of preferred victims of racism, sexism and whiteanglosaxonism and if he is then the critter is a chicken.
Mayor White has demanded that FEMA pony up millions to help the city fight the crime wave after Katrina. You decide which side of their mouth to listen to.

You have reason to believe that you are more familiar with the Houston crime wave than the Houston Police Department Chief? Why?
> Mayor White has demanded that FEMA pony up millions to
> help the city fight the crime wave after Katrina.
There are a couple of possible explanations. My favorite is that Mayor White has 150 thousand more people and the overcrowding and extra population is causing a normal increase in crime and disorder.
January 13th, 2006 at 2:26 pmThe jumping to conclusion explanation is that Mayor White being a crook is trying to defraud FEMA. He is a Mayor, which is a politician and all politicians are crooks
The last sentence was meant as sarcasm. Sorry
January 13th, 2006 at 2:28 pmThe poor and downtrodden of the USA would be kings in other lands. I wouldn’t have it any other way but I’d still like to see our black brothers take a little responsibility for their sub-culture and society. They could start on MLK day by hanging Jessie and all the other race hustlers from the nearest basket ball goal. How cool would that be?
…it amazes me the number of people who are at or near the poverty line that have color TVs, cable, washer, dryer, microwave,” says Michael Cosgrove, an economist at the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas…. Two-thirds of those in poverty had air conditioners in 1998, up from 50% in 1992. Personal computers have grown increasingly ubiquitous. Where fewer than 20% of homes had them in 1992, nearly 60% did in 2002 (more than own dishwashers). Two-thirds of those in poverty had air conditioners in 1998, up from 50% in 1992. I don’t know. The humanists are fond of pointing out how similar humans are to carrots, genetically. I think there is some reason to think of racial differences going beyond the obvious outward appearance. And again I point out that in my city of Houston we have a million fairly uneducated and not particularly well off Mexicans and Mexican-Americans and as a group they don’t score all that high on the killer per 1000 people scale.
I don’t know what the answer is but I wish we could “all just get along”. Until we can I have Colt .357 snub I keep near to hand in my brand new jet black 5000 lb. 4X4 gas guzzling behemoth w/ optional “Easy Rider Rifle Rack”. I suggest anyone in a big city get one too. Better a live racist than a dead peckerwood Utopian I always say.

What’s Darwin got to do with your reading Mein Kampf because you want to irradicate a race of people?
January 13th, 2006 at 4:41 pmAre you listening George? I really can’t understand how so many people can be enraged by this administration, but nothing ever shows up on any news programs–only rhetoric, praises and allocades. When the dems finally grow a sack and ask one or two tough questions of Scalito, Lawd’amercy! Haul out the kleenix–they caused poor Mrs. Scalito to cry. Sob Sob Sob. I am so sick and tired of this crap, I want to throw up on all of them.
January 13th, 2006 at 4:42 pmWe’ve spent trillions on the poor and downtrodden, given them rights nobody else has and still they just can’t get their shit together. Why is that?

Same as you saying that you can’t remove Christianity from your consciouness with legislation. Neither can you remove the stigma of socio-economic and cultural discrimination with it…

Then just do it… Stop assuming the worst in everyone and you’ll stop getting it. I’m not advocating assuming ‘the best’ either, as that is just as extremist and just likely to lead to delusion and disappointment… Instead, try just to accept people as they are. Without constant judgment of them. And if you don’t understand, ask… Most average people are doing the best they can, and struggling to get by. It’s compassion and understanding that will make us get along. Not guns and paranoia…
You always have that choice before you open your mouth, to decide whether you will be a part of the problem or a part of the solution.

Not true, but unlike conservatives, liberals don’t like cheaters or sore winners. Conservatives represent the idea that to ‘cheat’ is to ‘win’, and to ‘win’ is to ‘oppress’. If conservatives understood what it meant to win, and what responsibilities go with victories – especially economic ones, there wouldn’t be so many revolutions or ‘Pinochet’ criminals in the world.

January 13th, 2006 at 6:25 pmI have been quite careful to avoid vulgar terms that refer to human anatomy and body functions. I also steer clear of racial innuendos. I am also lily white as all of my ancestors originated from areas around Hanover for at least thirteen generations. I have gone back another four generations on some of the branches, but sewing up the details is an ongoing project.

Don’t take it personally. Happens… Truth, facts and logic are to the neocon trolls what garlic is to vampires… Eventually, when they’ve been cornered, they just move on to another forum to post lies and deception there.
