Rep. Jack Murtha served his country by enlisting in the Marines, and continues to serve his country as an elected representative. I wonder how many people will disagree with him simply because he doesn’t say “ditto” to the current administration or the President.
Don’t forget, it was a Republican who said “You can support the troops, and not support the President!” Can you guess who said that? Will it now be argued that he was wrong?

I like the fact that Murtha isn’t afraid to call a spade a spade. He doesn’t pull punches and speaks plainly enough that anyone can follow his logic. I wish there were more people like Murtha holding leadership positions in all political parties.

I’m sorry, but when someone urinates all over the constitution and gets thousands of our own killed on the basis of lies (not to mention tens of thousands of civilians), then he quickly loses my support. Pres. Clinton may have been a slickster, but I still held some respect for the office during his time (and I’m not even a Democrat). But what’s happened over the past give years is simply mega-tragic.

January 12th, 2006 at 11:10 am#30 – I understand your sentiments. I felt that Pres. Clinton was disengenious in his arguments about whether he slept with “that woman”. If only he had known that (ala Pres. Bush) he could have said that “when I was irresponsible, I was irresponsible” and that would have been the end of it.
I may refer to Pres. Bush as the “boy-king” or the “post turtle” or “lying liar”, but I will not just call him “Bush”. He was selected President by the Supreme Court in 2000, and he was elected (or Diebold selected him) in 2004. While I think he’s a miserable failure, and his lies and obfuscations have lost military lives, he still is President.
That’s something that I have yet to hear one single Republican say out loud. In my opinion, it makes their arguments less-than-credible when they claim that Pres. Clinton reduced the respect of the office of President. When they spit on the title when a D is in office, it carries over into when an R is in office. It can’t only work one-way.
