Why link to the WaPo? I was just as infuriated at the Post as anyone else when I read that early this am. When describing Murtha’s war injuries and how he received them, they put the word “hostile” in quotations marks like that as if it were actually in question was shameful. They may have pulled this off with John Kerry, but a 37 year Marine? No. Not this time.
i’m sorry but these people are pathetic and disgusting… leave the man the hell alone… he’s more than distinguished himself over 16 terms in congress and 38 years of combined active duty and reserve military service… this kind of attack demonstrates nothing but meanness of spirit… but, i guess that’s the whole idea, right…?
besides nausea and disgust, my reaction is that it’s too bad a congressman of the caliber of john murtha feels it necessary to even dignify this trash with a response…
1. ‘Medal inflation’ was rampant in Vietnam. It’s part of the military game. Napoleon started it, and the US military raised it to high levels in Nam. Combat Infantry Badges were given out like candy to non-infantrymen. Other awards were profusely given under the weakest of pretexts. I was awarded a Bronze Star Medal (M) because I asked for it.
2. John Murtha, until recently, has been a strong supporter of anything and everything the military wanted to do. He, and his way of thinking, is one of the reasons we are in the Iraq quagmire. The only reason that he has now come out against the war is not because it’s wrong, but because it’s not working.
3. All that being said, with the Purple Hearts for face cuts, with the hawk mentality, John Murtha has shown rare courage, particularly as a long-time militarist and interventionist, in coming out of the hawk-closet and opposing further destruction in Iraq. He should be judged on what he’s saying and doing now, and not on his past actions. He’s right on this issue.
thank you electric bass player, I knew a little of this but had no idea how man republicans never served and want ‘others’ to go and put our lives on the line. As a former Marine I am livid about anyone trying slam Murtha.
I was too busy watching the Democrats swift boat Sam Alito this week. Dick “slander the troops” Durbin and Ted Kennedy were essesntially lying about Alito.
Murtha is a shameless pig who trashes the war effort for gain. He doesn’t care about the troops – he cares about the spotlight.
It is not a good idea to attack a Marine. When you attack one you attack them ALL. Lookout. Impeach the ignorant bastards while we still have a country left.
stop lying #11 can’t seem to get his story together. Even the groups title, “Swift Boat Veterans” is horseshit.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but nearly all of the “Swift Boat Veterans who were members of that organization either never served in the Navy, were former Army or Airforce personnel, civilians, politicans, etc., but certainly not “Swiftboat vets”. Only a very small handful, made up of true swiftboat squids, were real “Swiftboat Veterans” and NONE of them served with or knew John Kerry in Vietnam.
Like of like “stop lying” himself. Just another puke on the attack.
The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth were all swift boat veterans who served with Kerry. If it’s permissible to attack them, then of course it’s permissible to attack Murtha.
This is a report in an old dispute between 2 democrats, both veterens of Vietnam. Don Baily, D-PA, wrote this letter to after Murtha stabbed him in the back and called him a liar. Who’s the shameless democrat in this dispute? Murtha
I’m writing on matters of joint concern. A number of weeks ago I was talking with someone who is a mutual acquaintance and your name came up. It was an unusually frank discussion and I considered it private. I did relate some opinions about you and shared some recollections about experiences with you in Congress. I was, to be honest, critical about how you misled me about ABSCAM where you convinced me you had voluntarily told federal agents about the offer of money to you and I learned later, after I had successfully defeated the ethics charges against you, that you had merely manipulated the system to cooperate with federal agents to avoid prosecution.
I also shared my recollection of when you admitted, back in our corner, that you didn’t earn your purple hearts (you indicated you had small scratch on your cheek that wasn’t even directly related to an APC that ran over a small anti personnel mine that was behind you). The other purple heart you even declined to explain.
You may be able to take advantage of a few Washington reporters who don’t have sufficient experience to understand – but you can’t fool combat veterans of the Vietnam war by hiding behind “Unit†losses – we’re used to those stories. I have my orders describing my combat awards Jack – to back up my DD-214. Where’s your’s? And Jack – don’t ever call me a liar.
stop lying, #22. I would suggest you check your facts by visting the Swiftboat site. I have also seen their membership list and supporters.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but maybe you could just give us ONE name who was a member of that organization who served with Kerry. And don’t say John O’Neill. That chump and dupe of the Nixon Administration didn’t arrive in Vietnam until 2 months after Kerry left.
As for this story about Murtha and having a republican like Bailey question his honor is disgraceful. One war hero questioning the service of another in order to silence a war critic.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but just how far will the draftdodgers in the Republican party stoop in order to discredit a heroic, war-wounded service man?
But of course, we already know the answer to that after seeing what they did to McCain and Kerry, so Murtha should come at no surprise.
… so in essence, “stop lying” is trying to change the real story here. The story is about how conservative web sites are “swift-boating” John Murtha, just as they did to John Kerry. The Post, which happens to be contolled by the right-wing, throws into their article that Murtha and Bailey had an argument on the floor in 1982 about their service. So what? They both served, period. They both received metals. Were you there to witness what they went through? Nope, you have no leg to stand on. Let me remind you again sir that this story is about HOW CONSERVATIVES WEB SITES ARE “SWIFT-BOATING†John Murtha. Your spin is no longer working. Give it up.
This brings up an interesting thing. Medal arent always handed out during the Time of War, but can be requested afterwards.
Now Im not saying that this is what Murtha DID, but perhaps you will find others, as well, that have done the Same.
Anyhoo, the attack on murtha is poiltical swill, as always during a Time of War, even though its a Faux War, is to attack the Patriots. I would think after the Veterans day debacle, and the ChickenHawks such as Cheney, Wolfowitz adnauseum, that this little Neo-kook Skullduggery may backfire.
The source for this muckraking crap is none other the one of the Neocons best fruitcakes (they all are in more ways than one!) Brent Boswell. Like most neocons, he hates anyone who isn’t just like himself. In fact, I think he may even hate himself which he uses to justify hating everyone else…hence a true fruitcake! Like most fruitcakes the most people dispise, he would make a fitting doorstopper, let’s say at the entrance to Union Station or some other well traveled area where it would be easy to ignore him and step on his empty head.
I suspect brownshirts like StopLying can never be convinced usung logic, facts and reason. The time has come to stop pussyfooting around with these vipers. Why not take these chickenhawk keyboard warriors behind the shed and put them in their place? Stop the dialogue – its useless. Just a swift drop kick to the teeth, then watch them whimper and crawl away. That’s all they deserve. Like the loud and obnoxious drunk at the bar who endlessly taunts all the rest of the patrons. You don’t waste time and energy with dialogue….
Its too bad that this virtual world makes it so easy for jerks like stoplying to spew their filth without having to stand behind what they say.
#11, your swift boat reading is not correct – (no news there) Kerry completed his term on the USS Gridley and then went back for the swift boat command.
It is simply unconscionable that the White House sends out its toadies to deliberately attack someone who disagrees with their word.
That shows real respect for the troops, eh?
The Bushites have lied and cheated their way through life, and they continue to do so — when they are exposed, they behave like rats. There is nothing they won’t stoop to.
Everytime you turn around you see another shameless story of curruption or smearing coming from the Republican party. I know several Republicans, and I almost (not quite, but almost) feel sorry for them. They party found rock bottom and has started to dig with explosives to see how low they can go.
The Democrats have lied and cheated their way through life, and they continue to do so — when they are exposed, they behave like rats. There is nothing they won’t stoop to.
Clarence Thomas has served the Republican Party and the “Southern Racist Political Strategy” very well and with distinction. He also served Anita Hill a Coke with a pubic hair on it too.
-GSD
Hey, I am having fun playing the right-wing troll game from a left-wing perspective.
Never answer a question with logic and attack, attack, attack.
Robert Byrd has served the Democratic Party and the “Southern Racist Political Strategy†very well and with distinction.
What connections did Cheney have when he got legal deferments?
Clarence Thomas was accused of telling a few naughty jokes. Clinton was accused of rape and assault. So of course liberals supported Clinton and opposed the black man.
“Who’s going to want to risk his/her life to protect these criminals, only to have them stab you in the back with your service record later?
Big Papa,
This is my exact thoughts when I read this piece from the Washington Post.
I served in the US Army during Operation Desert Storm and I have been called a traitor by the trolls here.
I couldn’t imagine serving for 37 years, being one of the most respected members of Congress (by both sides of the aisle) and then get questioned on my medals.
This just makes me sick to my stomach. The fact that these people will attack anybody, even one of the most recognized hawks in the Congress, stinks of facism. It is loathsome.
#16 — That’s a FLAT OUT LIE. The Swiftboat Veterans group absolutely DID NOT serve with John Kerry. In fact, the men who truly DID serve with John Kerry were on stage at the convention and participated in a conference call to dispute the Swiftboat Veteran’s claims (as they were there in Vietnam with him) AND campaigned for him.
All of this is VERY easy to confirm. I suggest you stick to lying about things that are more difficult to refute as blatant lies such as yours only make you appear ill-informed, ignorant and biased. The result being that you have no credibility with other arguements.
Ah, the “Southern Racist Strategy” was part of the Republican Parties agenda. Ken Mehlman admitted it from his closet where he spews his talking points. Most racists defected fromt he Democratic Party after the civil rights votes. So that is why Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms and Trent Lott became Republicans. Byrd apologized for his racist past. Trent Lott looks back longingly for those “better days”.
Bill O’Reilly got his sexual harrasment tips from Clarence Thomas. Henry Hyde taught Bill Clinton how to mess around with people who were not his wife. Bob Livingston taught Bill Clinton about orgies and group sex.
Dick Cheney got deferrments. He dodged the draft. Straight talking folks would say the term “deferrment” is a word that the elite would use in place of draft dodging.
You right wing folks hate elitists. Folks who go to Yale, like Bush and Princeton, like Alito. That makes them eleite and those who like them and hate elitists a bunch of hypocrites.
And post # 57 was absolutely right. Not one of those Bush stooges served with John Kerry, so the truth is, they don’t know what happened when he beached the boat.
But EVERY account from the men who were there said he was a machine. Beached the boat, took out the enemy.
At the very least Kerry at least KNOWS WHAT COMBAT LOOKS LIKE.
Bush and Cheney have NO CLUE WHAT COMBAT LOOKS LIKE, except what they saw on TV.
OK Tetra King and all of you other King George supporters why bash war heros, answer these questions? You team is the one who does not support the troop, and item number 6 below says it all.
) Why did Bush fail to do anything on 9/11. He sat there doing nothing, even when he was supposedly told that “we are under attack.â€
2) Why did Bush let Osama get away and has never since pursued him at all. In fact, he has said “I really don’t think about him much.â€
3) Why did Bush lied to Congress and the American public to take us to war with Iraq.
4) Why did Bush fail horibly during Katrina.
5) Why did Bush perform numerous crimes against America since day one and the latest is spying on them illeagally.
6) Why does Bush have ZERO respect for the military. He allowed the military to charge battle field soldiers $8 a day for food while being taken care of in a Military hospital. He also forces them to find their own way home after service. He has the dead shiped as cargo in commercial airlines, rather than the proper way with the honor gaurd.
I could really go on, but I would like to see what kind of rebuttle you have and what FACTS do you have that you can dispute these little know FACTS?
#35, If George Bush has nothiing to hide, HE should release ALL of his service records (and educational records and medical records and drug and alcohol history, while he’s at it) and free up anyone who wants to speak to do so without reprisal.
#39, And if George Bush didn’t have his mommy and daddy’s monoey and intervention in every educational and professional endeavor, he’d be a homeless drunk in Texas.
I like the fact that this attack on Murtha is restarting the assault on Bush’s service record. John at americablog says it best:

Did our commander in chief go AWOL during the Vietnam War?
by John in DC – 1/14/2006 12:50:00 PM
I think this article in today’s Washington Post makes clear that the issue of George Bush’s missing-in-action status during the Vietnam War is now relevant once again.
We are a nation at war and it is unnacceptable that there be any doubt in our troops’ minds as to whether their commander in chief is a traitor and a coward. Again, the Washington Post article makes clear that the issue as to whether George Bush, standing before the American people as a holier-than-thou spokesman for the war in Iraq, is truly fit to be such a spokesman, let alone the commander in chief of our brave men and women in uniform.
Our troops deserve nothing less than the truth. Is our commander in chief a coward?
DS, insulting me will not change the fact that the guy who attacked Murtha’s record is a Democrat and a decorated Vietnam veteran. The Democrats’ capacity for blatant hypocrisy is boundless.
Rush had a boil on his ass. That is why he became a drug addict. Although, his apologists will say he has a sickness, you know addiction. The same jamokes would laugh at a poor person in the ghetto on drugs. They would call them a parasite who “chose” to be on drugs.
Deferrment Dick Cheney missed the war ’cause he was busy studying Machiavelli so that one day he could take over the world from his KAOS like lair and limp onto the throne and proclaim “The world is mine”.
Dick Cheney might be a 5 time draft evader, but he is a world-class war monger and war profiteer.
Funny thing about sharpnel scratches and bullet grazes…a few inches either direction and you are dead. It’s not the amount of blood shed, it’s that you had the courage to put your life on the line for your country.
That is the point the “purple heart bandaid” Republicans and their paid-to-post defenders here seem to miss. Probably because most of them, like their Party/Syndicate leaders, never answered their call to duty.
You know what else is shameless?
Our CIA has been allowed to wiretap anyone and everyone in the world yet they bomb a village of citizens AGAIN.
I hope Pakistan stands up to this terror attack on their nation. I mean come on, what idiot attacks a nation for the purpose of catching one person?
Oh, thats right, we attacked Iraq to capture one person.
Impeach the criminals in the White House. They must be held accountable for killing citizens.
Hey, heres a thought…maybe if Murtha was running things, Zaharri would be in custody and Pakistan wouldn’t have to suffer terrorist attacks from the U.S.
I think Bush’s status should be investigate. He has made it an issue. Like Kerry’s past, this should be investigated. Too bad no one will talk on the record though. Kerry was smeared on “heresay”, all of the evidence pointed to a sterling military record.
But no one will talk about Bush because they don’t want to end up in G’itmo.
“Ayman al-Zawahiri — Osama bin Laden’s right-hand man in the al Qaeda terrorist network — was not killed in a CIA airstrike on a remote Pakistani village, according to a Pakistani intelligence official.”
So, the US sent military planes into Pakistan and then we bombed the crap out of a little tiny village, killing 18 civillians, including women and children.
Are we at war with Pakistan that I don’t know about? The Pakistani officials are pretty pissed. We are fvcking with Iran and Syria.
How much more will it take for the countries in the Middle East to band together and declare global jihad on the Untied States? I know I don’t want that.
How do you take out a neighborhood bully? All of the little kids get together and kick his ass.
I already told you that political affiliation doesn’t mean shit to me. You are throwing mud and you are a pussy. Answer my question. Ever served in the military?
George W. Bush was recently “wounded in combat” with a cedar bush. So leave him alone, he has sacrificed. Just like Mrs. Boo-hooAlito, she sacrifice too. She had to sit in a warmly lit and heated senate chamber and listen to Ted Kennedy throw some softball questions at her husband about his $500,000.00 investment in Vanguard funds so that he could get a life time appointment to the supreme court and receive public dole-money for th rest of his life.
THAT is sacrifice and I suggest those whiny West Virginia coal miners wives and all their fake crying realize just how much the Republicans sacrifice for this stock market.
Spudge, I agree with you. The terror attack on Pakistan was just another crime against humanity and Bubble boy hopes we are all too stupid to acknowledge this outrageous crime.
Thinkprogress should post this story. The U.S. has become terrorists and we The People have a thing or two to say about that.
Susan, I’m not going to get off topic so I won’t comment on this in this post again, but just know this from someone who knows what Bush is talking about when he talks about the central exchanges that calls pass through.
See, almost all voice communications are digitized as the pass through switching centers. What Mr. Bush is doing, is trying to break it to us gently, and also setting himself up for a “see, I told you about the exchanges way back when”, what he is setting us up for is the knowledge that practically EVERY PHONE CALL IN AMERICA is being captured and stored in digital format, for later examintation.
Massive search engines can search these digital records for keywords, and searched at ANYTIME, for ANY REASON.
5 or 10 years down the road, when they have passed laws that say they can use these stored conversations to search for other non terrorist related crimes.
It’s a cart blanche, and now, EVERY word you speak on a phone is fodder for big brother to look through and find something on you, regardless of the occasion. Just in case they ever need it.
People have no idea how they’ve sold our countries soul so they could feel safe.
“What mud did I throw, SpudgeBoy? I said Murtha should not be attacked for his military record, as the Demcorats are doing.
Others here are falsely accusing Republicans of attacking Murtha’s war record; I’m merely setting the record straight.”
So, stop directing your “he’s a democrat” posts at me, because I don’t give a fvck.
Anybody that would attack somebody who has served this country during wartime is an asshole and should be shot as a traitor. And that would include your democrat.
#73, First of all, I haven’t stated a party affiliation so you’re making an assumption that you shouldn’t.
Second, I wasn’t insulting you as much as pointing out that your “strategy” is to take the comments of others and replace the term “Republican” with “Democrat”. It’s an eight-year-old’s party game. Grow up and state real facts.
Finally, I find it ironic (but not surprising) that you claim Don Bailey is a decorated Vietnam veteran but you question the service of Murtha and Kerry based on the comments of those who have never served with them. I’m assuming (and I’m confident it’s not a stretch) that you didn’t serve with any of the three, so you are not in a position to make claims to the validity of any of their medals or conduct of service.
George W. Bush proudly announces that the US troops have found a piece of feces wearing a turban and holding an AK47 was found in a cave in Afghanistan.
Testing is under way to determine if this is Al Qaedas’ # 2.
GSD, Bailey is not a Republican, he is a Democrat. Perhaps you can help clarify why it is OK to attack Bailey, a Democrat and decorated Vietnam veteran? Thanks in advance.
Spudge, ignore the troll. Like you said, they are trying to distract the AMerican People from Bubble boys latest crime, attacking Pakistani citizens.
We know what a real soldier is made of, we don’t have to defend ourselves against trolls who hide under the bed 23 out of 24 hours a day because they are afraid of their own shadow.
SpudgeBoy,
Never call a treasonist coward a pussy. You are , by implication, disparaging women who can be as brave as any man.
That is if I was refering to a vagina. I am talking about a scaredy cat, a pussy. You stomp your foot and they run. I know, my girlfriend owns some. I would never stomp my feet at a vagina. :)
How about if I say it like this so that you can understnd without trying to twist my word kid.
Anybody that attacks somebody that has fought in service of this country and has received medals while carrying out their duty is an asshole who should be shot as a traitor.
You know what the fvck I mean dick wad.
Bush did not finish serving, he is a traitor. He is a liar and he is scum. And so are you.
Go join the military. They will show you where your balls are.
I’d suggest the tears of Alito’s wife (oddly enough, she doesn’t go by Mrs. Alito — she uses her maiden name) may have been caused just as much by finally catching a glimpse of her image on a television screen and realizing that tweed ensemble was a very, very poor choice of apparel. I too cried periodically throughout the day as I caught a glimpse of her sitting behind her husband.
For the record, I have no issue with women keeping their maiden names. I do, however, believe those who were appalled by Hillary’s and Teresa’s choices to do so should be equally as appalled by Baumgartner’s choice to do the EXACT SAME.
SpudgeBoy is a traitor who hates America as much as OBL does.
Bush did finish serving and received an honorable discharge. Those are the facts.
The idea that people who fought in a war cannot be criticized is totally unamerican. Presumably SpudgeBoy opposed the trial of Tim McVeigh by that standard.
Lies are more comforting than the truth and provocation is a substitute for dialogue.
Read their posts and see which category each falls into.
1) Outright lie.
2) Misdirection/changing the subject.
3) Identifying and atacking an enemy. (I’m convinced this is at the very heart of modern conservative “philosophy.” Without enemies, they have nothing.)
DS, Hillary and teresa were criticized for using their married names when campaigning, then using their maiden names when the campaign is over. It’s two-faced. But expected, since they’re Democrats, who as a rule lack basic honesty or integrity.
Now that Bubble boy has attacked Pakistan I’m going to have to make another movie. In “Primal America” a speaker doesn’t accuse and convict Bubble boy for killing Pakistani’s.
If you want my 40 minute movie where Chicago reacts to Bubble boys visit to Chicago email me at DOBLC@aim.com I’ll send you a copy a.s.a.p.
Read liberals posts here and see which category each falls into.
1) Outright lie.

3) Identifying and atacking an enemy. (I’m convinced this is at the very heart of modern conservative “philosophy.†Without enemies, they have nothing.)
#109. “The idea that people who fought in a war cannot be criticized is totally unamerican.”
Nobody said that. We just said that you guys are represented by draft-dodging sanctimonious pussies and should think twice before acting like you have testicles.
Stop Lying, you keep claiming the Swiftboat Veterans served with Kerry yet you still have not answered the request made over two hours ago by Joe Sixpack to name even ONE person in the Swiftboat Veterans group who served with Kerry. It’s because you can’t — it’s not true.
Condi Rice=Frigid and childless, not fulfilling God’s obligation. Most likely angry at the world because no man will date her and make her submit to God’s plan.
Rush Limbaugh=Childless defender of family values. Thrice divorced defender of family values. Drug addict. Why isn’t he procreating according to God’s plan?
Senator Lyndsey Graham-His office in the senate is a closet. Why is he not fulfilling God’s plan to propagate the species? It is unseemly for a “man” to be single. Why can’t he attract a woman as God has planned for all men?
I, along with about 10,000 others tried to warn you nuts about China.
Now the shite’s hitting the fan so to speak. And with Iran pushing the envelope, and China not being willing to watch the world attack one of their main supplies of oil, I think were about to get all the war we can stomach.
That oughta make you good ole boys happy.
What’s that? You don’t want to go?
Should have thought about that before you started acting tough by kicking the crap out of a tiny nation that presented no threat to you.
At least the military strategist that Bush is has ground the military into the dirt and spent our international goodwill on the Iraq fiasco.
Now, when we need the manpower and the world concensus we don’t have it. China will take Taiwan in a walk and Bush will sputter like a 90 year old man getting rolled by a 20 year old punk.
Great work MacArthur Bush.
-GSD
Maybe he can send frigid Condi Rice and swishy Lyndsey Graham to negotiate a surrender with the Chinese before they call in the debts we owe them?
See, you are using the right-wing whine strategy. You whine when attacked. Then you attack and when the person you attack whines you say stop whining!
Ad hominem attacks are great. It is really fun. Just like when you rightwingers call Clinton a rapist and Hillary a lesbian and Kerry a traitor. Attack, attack, attack. Michael Moore is fat.
Condi is a frigid shrew! Fun stuff now that I have the game down.
DS, with these Republican clowns you have to differentiate “served with” vis-a-vis “in the boat” because only one was in the boat, and he had an axe to grind. From what I hear, Kerry wouldn’t let him fire wildly across the whole country side. Something about preventing war crimes, I suppose.
But please, everybody. Tell me Republicans are not THIS stupid. In 2004 they insisted that Swift Boats was an entirely independent group organized by Harriet Miers. Come on, they’re just pretending to believe that. Because pretending to believe, that is their path to power. I think they really are secretly ashamed of those purple band-aids, Is their strategy to simply impugn the character of anyone who disagrees?
It worked the first time. A second time is going to look like the farse that it is. This is the part of the debate where we start laughing at their stupidity.
Have you heard about the Bush machines’ attempt to find any pictures of Bush with Jack Abramoff? Once they find the pictures those pictures will be dissappeard like a detainee at G’itmo.
#123, you need to use the “find all” option in your search. You missed a conservative-to-liberal change. Luckily, I’ve read the original posts for each of your copy-and-pastes, so I was able to translate for you. Would it be easier if we allowed you to indicate the number of the post you want to copy and simply write “Ditto with conversion”? You wouldn’t have to pretend to think so much that way.
We are hearing now the death rattle of the republican party.
They have sent us their volksturm in the form of I-RIGHT-I and stop lying, to try and fend off the inevitable.
The American people are not going to ignore the last 5 year debacule.
And when women and minorties go to the polls this fall, you think they are going to forget that when the republicans had a chance to put a woman or a minority on the US Supreme Court, not once, but TWICE, they picked the 2 WHITEST guys on the planet???
“The Swiftboat Veterans group absolutely DID serve with John Kerry. stop lying”
Not true. None of the swiftboaters were on his boat, they all served at the same time, but not with Kerry. In fact the boat mates of Kerry stood up for him, and after the election ALL of the records were released, and they proved Kerry was telling the truth, and the swiftboaters lied.
As for your and the rest of republican attacks on Murtha, shame shame. You guys are the same hypocrites that say dems should never say anything about vets or soldiers – but apparently GW had no problem telling everyone that McCain was crazy during the presidential primaries. If you so scared that you need to lie in order to lead, then sit down and leave politics to people who aren’t cowards and don’t need to lie to feel good about themselves.
For someone who keeps telling others to stop lying, clearly you have no problems doing this yourself. Do you have a conscience? or do you just turn it off when partisan politics are involved?
RightPunch, the swift boats operated in groups, like a convoy of trucks. Only an idiot would claim two people driving in the same convoy didn’t serve together.
“Tridednt, the “evidence that Bush is a deserter†is less than or equal to the evidence that “Trident is a convicted sex offenderâ€. stop lying”
I see I-RIGHT-I isn’t the only source of hate speech from trolls. Wow, that’s so bizarre and hate filled, you must be a Christian. As for the ‘evidence’, bush didn’t complete his term – and that’s a requirement for service. That makes him a deserter. No other evidence is needed to prove he was a deserter, and that you’re a smearing hate filled partisan. I forgive you of your hate. I understand how insecurity can make people do such hateful things.
I bet there are lots of cowardly Democrats in Iraq right now. Hiding and putting in for purple hearts as we speak. We need a congressional hearing immediately.
-GSD
Maybe frigid Condi Rice and swishy Lyndsey Graham can oversee the hearings. Maybe they will get cozy and then join in God’s plan to join as man and wife and pro-create?
“RightPunch, the swift boats operated in groups, like a convoy of trucks. Only an idiot would claim two people driving in the same convoy didn’t serve together. stop lying”
So you admit you lied, and that the swiftboaters didn’t actually serve with Kerry on his boat. Wow, that was almost a moment of honesty on your part – maybe there’s hope for you yet. And why were people on the other boats paying so much attention to what was going on inside Kerry’s boat – shouldn’t they have been paying attention to the enemy? And why did they all lie on their official reports (a court martial offense?) if he was doing what they claimed he was doing? Isn’t it convenient they would bring all of this evidence in a partisan political race, yet let people risk death during a war and say nothing? It makes them either partisan liars, or cowards – either way, unreliable witnesses.
“I see RightPunch isn’t the only source of hate speech from liberal trolls. stop lying “
Hate, I love you guys – you’re like watching a “B” movie horror flick. Sadly amusing. I even feel for all of the hate and insecurity that bubbles up in you guys that make you lie so easily. You have my compassion.
I got all of my hate speech lessons from Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh and Kate O’Bierne and Michelle Malkin and Jonah Goldberg and Ben Stein and Jay Severin and Karl Rove and Lee Atawater.
stop lying, I know they served with Kerry. They just don’t have any members from the boat, except that one guy, whatsisname? ol’ wildfire machine gun village raker? Yeah, once Kerry threatened to courtmartial him, he straightened up and became a decent soldier. He should be proud of his service to this country, as should you. It’s sad that some feel the need to denigrate the actions of our military men and women, wearing band-aid purple hearts to ridicule ocmbat wounds. I don’t see how anyone can ridicule combat wounds. But they did.
Stop lying, please,
Don Bailey lost to Murtha. He’s a bitter former opponent with an axe to grind.
The same could be said for most of the members of the “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth”. They were either bitter at Kerry for opposing the war, had been fed a line of horseshit by their political handlers, or were psychologically troubled.
Even if Murtha’s purple hearts were for superficial wounds, the bottom line is he served a year on the ground as a Marine in Vietnam. By comparison, you did what, exactly?
Murtha has nothing to gain by opposing this war.
You know it, we know it. You’re really not fooling anyone.
Remember, conservatives used to say that “hate speech” was invented by “liberals” to make a crime out of being honest. They said that liberals were whiny about “political hardball” and wanted to “prevent free expression”.
Nut now they adopt the word “hate speech” when it suits them to use against liberals.
It’s very interesting to me just how easy it is to fool a right winger. Tell him or her what he or she wants to hear, and you don’t need evidence to back it up. They’ll lap it up and defend it like it’s a religious belief.
Perhaps they know this. “Stop Lying”’s very name sounds like a plea for help. Unfortunately, I’m at a loss as to how to get through to such people.
cynical — It’s sad that some feel the need to denigrate the actions of our military men and women, such as Don Bailey, John O’Neill, and George W. Bush.
#133, ding, ding, ding! This is my favorite argument:
“GSD, your ad hominem attacks merely prove you have no arguments or facts to present.”
Do you go by different names on other sites or is this what you’re all instructed to state as your last ditch going-down-in-flames effort?
You folks throw out most of the insults, baseless theories and run-arounds, and when everyone has destroyed your, umm…, “facts” (??), you claim they’re attacking you without merit or base.
Such a poor little misunderstood guy just trying to educate folks (yeah, that’s sarcasm)… What dopes you are!!
It’s very interesting to me just how easy it is to fool a left winger. Tell him or her what he or she wants to hear, and you don’t need evidence to back it up. They’ll lap it up and defend it like it’s a religious belief.
RightPunch, President Bush served his term and received an honorable discharge. Those are facts.
Stop Lying,
No one would be denigrating Bush’s, O’Neill’s or Bailey’s service if they hadn’t done it first. Don’t the targets of their smears have the right to defend themselves? Don’t you believe in self-defense? Or are you just here to get a response?
Do you even care what’s true and what’s not? Because I have a feeling that if Fox News told you the sun comes up in the West, you’d be on here defending it vigorously.
cynical — It’s sad that some feel the need to denigrate the actions of our military men and women, such as Don Bailey, John O’Neill, and George W. Bush.
Replace those names with Jack Murtha, Al Gore, John Kerry, John McCain…..
It’s very interesting to me just how easy it is to fool a left winger. Tell him or her what he or she wants to hear, and you don’t need evidence to back it up. They’ll lap it up and defend it like it’s a religious belief.

Now that’s the one honest thing you’ve said all night.
You just laid out the game plan of your merry band of liars, murderers and crooks.
Oh, and Stop Lying,
According to the law just signed by President Bush, you coming on here for the purpose of annoying people anonymously is against the law.
Rush Limbaugh is leading American troops into battle from behind his radio console in his air conditioned multi-million dollar mansion while sitting on a donut pillow to help ease the pain from his pilonidal cyst that kept him from serving in Vietnam but didn’t keep him from picking up his unemployment checks in the 80’s.
The steady infusion of Oxycontin into his system helps ease the pain of the cyst and of the fact that he is a 3X divorcee who is not fulifilling God’s plans to procreate.
Don’t you realize you are a pathetic joke here. We look upon you with fascination and disgust as you puke up GOP spew and then get down on hand and knee and lap it up again.
Isn’t this some fun.5and 1/2 hours of discussing Murtha instead of what Murtha said. It’s a great strategy and most of the commenters play into it. Murtha has said that Iraq has wrecked the military, its readiness for another engagement,Iraq has ruined the Army National Guard, deteriorated its ability to repond to domestic needs, the equipment deployed in Iraq can’t be accounted for;recruitment is in the tank.
Instead of that discussion, this is Murtha and his medals. He didn’t lie about having them,he does. Anything else is just an attempt to distract from the real issue.
Nice.
#137, WORFEUS, thanks for the great link regarding the Swiftboat Vets organization. I hope Stop Lying actually takes the time to check it out. Specifically, the section titled “Who Served ‘With’ Kerry”. It’s filled with direct quotes from the Swiftboat Vets on television shows admitting none of them served directly with Kerry, with one exception, and he wasn’t on Kerry’s boat for ANY of the instances they claim are false.
Lying, the key point is they are direct quotes from the members claiming the truth is the OPPOSITE of what they’ve said in their ads. Dispute that, little man.
Once again, libs are trying to pin a case of Democrats smearing Democrats on Republicans. It ain’t working.
WORFEUS, #163, stop lying is about half right about former democratic Rep. Don Bailey being a democrat. However, he lost his ass to Murtha in the 1982 PA primary, and he has never forgiven Murtha for his loss since. That same year, Bailey switched sides and came in a strong 2nd in the Republican nominating convention, underscoring that he is indeed a strong conservative.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but he also lost the 1986 primary to democrat Bob Edgar. He also lost elections in 1988, 1992, and the Democratic gubernatorial primary in 1998. Damned right Bailey has an ax to grind on his fellow democrats.
As for Bailey attacking Murtha over Murtha’s purple hearts, it is based on a lighthearted, personal remark by Murtha to Bailey stating, “I got a scratch on the cheek.” Murtha has no reason to brag about his wounds, and like a true hero, says little about them. However, in the first wounding, he was at Da Nang and took schrapnel to the the right side of his face. In the second, he was once again wounded in the face, and nearly lost his left eye.
As for stop lying’s bullshit crack about how they “served together” in #161 tells you just how much she knows about the military or “serving together” as she claims. Right Punch is right of couse: THEY DID NOT SERVE TOGETHER.
I came here to have an argument.
No you didn’t.
Yes,I did.
No,you didn’t.
Listen,an argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition,it’s not the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says.
Yes,it is.
Joe, you are misinformed. Probably being lied to by a liberal website. Read Bailey’s letter again. They were both democrats when they had this dispute and it was not a light hearted remark. It was over Murtha stabbing Bailey in the back after he defended Murtha in the ABSCAM investigation. Then Murtha called Bailey a liar.
“I was, to be honest, critical about how you misled me about ABSCAM where you convinced me you had voluntarily told federal agents about the offer of money to you and I learned later, after I had successfully defeated the ethics charges against you, that you had merely manipulated the system to cooperate with federal agents to avoid prosecution.”
Correct me if I’m wrong, but have you seen the latest FOX News/Opinion Dynamics poll taken January 10-11?
“Which party in Washington do you think is more corrupt: Democrats or Republicans?”
Democrats = 15% Republicans = 33% Same = 40%
I mean, it doesn’t bode well for us conservatives, huh? Like a repugnican bitch-slapping waiting to happen come November elections.
Well, guess I’ll join with Spudeboy and say, GO BRONCO’s. Now it is off to the bar for me, to sop up a pitcher of beer and watch the Seattle Seahawks do some bitch-slapping of their own.

this is what lil w and the neocon cowboys fear……and why they smear the messenger each and everytime they hear….the truth
Murtha rejects the president’s argument that the war on terror is being fought in Iraq. “The insurgents are Iraqis – 93 percent of the insurgents are Iraqis. A very small percentage are foreign fighters….Once we’re out of there, [Iraqis] will eliminate [foreign fighters],†says Murtha.
“[President Bush] is trying to fight this war with rhetoric. Iraq is not where the center of terrorism is,†he says. “We’re inciting terrorism there….We’re destabilizing the area by being over there because we’re the targets,†Murtha says.
During the election campaign I met most of John Kerry’s actual boatmates during his 2 different tours of duty in Vietnam…..
to a man, they all said John Kerry was a courageous leader they would follow anywhere, to this day….
No liar on this site can show any proof that any of the Swift Liars were on any of John Kerry’s boats….
simple as that….they all lied for political gain…..most, if not all were already Republican officials….including the two who were MOH winners….and not low level, but state level repugs……
furthermore, the swift liars were originally directed by Kay Bailey Hutchinson and a white house lawyer named Goldberg (i believe)…..both of whom had to quit lil w’s camplaign after he lied and said no one in his campaign were connected to the swift liars
On January 5, 2006, Congressman Murtha held a town hall meeting with Cong. Jim Moran (D-VA 08).
The soldier who asked the first question served in Afghanistan and said that morale among troops is high and that he would gladly serve in Iraq today. His comment was the only one replayed by Fox News the next day.
But the majority of soldiers in attendance spoke out against the current policy. Fox News did not broadcast their remarks.
Here are some excerpts.
John Brumes, Infantry Sgt. US Army:
Everything that the Bush Adminstration told us about that mission in Iraq is absolutely incorrect. Furthermore, I’d like to say … I came home to no job, no health insurance. Until we take care of this war, we can’t take care of the problems that matter like health care.
I’ve witnessed both ends… Congressman Murtha, I implore you to keep doing what you’re doing.
John Powers, Capt. 1st Armored Division, served 12 months in Iraq:
The thing that hits me the most is the accountability. … Where is the accountability for those men [who took us to war], as well as where is the accountability for Paul Bremmer, who misplaced millions of dollars and claims to keep accountability in the war zone?… I know that if we lost $500 we would be court marshaled. So where is the accountability for this leadership?
Garin Reppenhagen, served as a sniper in Iraq for a year in the First Infantry Division:
My question is also about accountability. The soldiers that you see, Congressman Murtha, at the hospitals… those are my friends. After coming back, being a veteran, my question is why? Why did we go to this war, why the hell did it happen, why are we in this condition. A lot of soldiers are debating whether this war was fraudulent to begin with. And there doesn’t seem to be a clear answer. A lot of Americans now are debating the fact over whether or not the war was fraudulent in the first place. How come there hasn’t been an investigation on the fraudulent lead up to the war by this Administration?
Good ol’ Bushies. Same sh*t, different Democrat. Yeah they are Paragons Of Truth. Why did George Junior avoid that physical? That is why he was “grounded”. And why was he trained to fly a plane that was being phased out? More of our tax dollars wasted by this loser. And “Stoplying”, it must suck to be you, huh? The best part of you rolled down your mama’s leg. Pity.
lil w avoided the physical to lose his pilot license intentionally because he had been awol….which could have resulted in being placed in an active duty catagory and sent…..you know where……which was the penalty for not completing his service….
From dailykos on the matter. Bailey is completely discredited as being someone who’s just settling a score. What a liar – how can he call himself a democrat. Clearly Bailey is a ZellMiller/Republican version of a democrat. Poor thing, I feel sorry for him that he would carry this level of hatred.
[Rep. Don] Bailey’s been peddling his lies since 2002, when Murtha was once again involved in an incumbent-vs.-incumbent race. Yet if Murtha supposedly made some confession to Bailey during the ABSCAM goings-on in 1980 (as Bailey claimed to the National Journal), why didn’t Bailey use that against Murtha in 1982? The answer doesn’t change: The story is bullshit, and Bailey hadn’t bothered to invent it yet. Rather, Bailey – after spending two decades losing a whopping four more races – dreamed up his tale in 2002 as a way to settle an old score against Murtha. (He failed, badly: Murtha won the primary that year 54-30.)
He’s just an old man who is fading into senility and who is being used by the anti-America moment for their purposes.
Comment by Gary Ruppert #48
The more I witness the “civil political discourse” btwn right wing Bushite conservatives and patriotic American progressives on internet fora and in the MSM the more I become convinced that right wing conservative hypocrites, bigots, racists and homophobes who support the criminal Bushite regime ALL deserve immediate:
They do not deserve to survive or perpetuate their recessive inbred gene pool, and definitely don’t deserve to be considered Americans (let alone human beings)…
On January 5, 2006, Congressman Murtha held a town hall meeting with Cong. Jim Moran (D-VA 08). The results are on C-Span.

Bush’s personal style of leadership has caused a division in the nation by supporting and courting his “base” while denying access by taxpayers, voters and citizens to his public meetings and appearances. It is obvious that the public is thoroughly screened and attendance at these events is only granted to staunch supporters of the regime. This may be a small matter; however, it is singularly noteworthy as an example of a paranoia not seen since the Nixon administration. A President must have the confidence of a majority of the people or his adminmistration is a sham. Recent polls indicate strong opposition to his leadership.
The Swift Boat Veterans told the truth about Hanoi John Kerry, who served only 4 months of a year-long tour.

slop liar,
That was four months longer than any of the lying, profiteering (from the deaths of over a hundred thousand innocents) right wing cowards you’re worshipping…
Which makes people like you not only stupid and despicable but unpatriotic and expendable…

Nova,
In spite of poll numbers against them, (which I view skeptically no matter which way they point), the Bushites hold two very real, very dangerous aces-in-the-hole:
1) the ability to “create reality”; ie, perpetrating a 9/11 style attack to “unify the scared masses…
Our current military needs to be swiftboated. Is losing a limb to an Islamo-goober a noble way to get a Purple Heart? I don’t think so.

January 14th, 2006 at 10:32 amMakes you think that you have to be a da*ned fool to serve in the military under these character assassins…
And they’re talking about attacking Iran?
Who’s going to want to risk his/her life to protect these criminals, only to have them stab you in the back with your service record later?
See how stupid republiscum Bushites and their inbred worshippers are?
Can there be any doubt as to why they deserve to be the most despised among mankind?
January 14th, 2006 at 10:36 amyeah, i posted on this yesterday after reading murtha’s response in the huffpo…
i’m sorry but these people are pathetic and disgusting… leave the man the hell alone… he’s more than distinguished himself over 16 terms in congress and 38 years of combined active duty and reserve military service… this kind of attack demonstrates nothing but meanness of spirit… but, i guess that’s the whole idea, right…?
besides nausea and disgust, my reaction is that it’s too bad a congressman of the caliber of john murtha feels it necessary to even dignify this trash with a response…
And, yes, I DO take it personally
January 14th, 2006 at 10:48 amYou want the truth? Here it is.
January 14th, 2006 at 10:51 amthank you electric bass player, I knew a little of this but had no idea how man republicans never served and want ‘others’ to go and put our lives on the line. As a former Marine I am livid about anyone trying slam Murtha.
January 14th, 2006 at 10:59 amDon,
Turn in your bronze star now, if you don’t think you earned it. Most vets earned their medals, including JK and Murtha..
OUT OF IRAQNAM NOW!
Honor the warriors, not the war.

Shameless cowards. Another distraction from what these jokers are really up to.
January 14th, 2006 at 11:04 amThe Swift Boat Veterans told the truth about Hanoi John Kerry, who served only 4 months of a year-long tour.
January 14th, 2006 at 11:12 amI was too busy watching the Democrats swift boat Sam Alito this week. Dick “slander the troops” Durbin and Ted Kennedy were essesntially lying about Alito.
Murtha is a shameless pig who trashes the war effort for gain. He doesn’t care about the troops – he cares about the spotlight.
January 14th, 2006 at 11:17 amIt is not a good idea to attack a Marine. When you attack one you attack them ALL. Lookout. Impeach the ignorant bastards while we still have a country left.
January 14th, 2006 at 11:18 amstop lying #11 can’t seem to get his story together.
January 14th, 2006 at 11:22 amThere’s no basis whatsoever for impeachment. But it helps Republicans for you kooks to suggest it, so keep it up, please.
January 14th, 2006 at 11:23 amThe Swift Boat Veterans for Truth were all swift boat veterans who served with Kerry. If it’s permissible to attack them, then of course it’s permissible to attack Murtha.
January 14th, 2006 at 11:25 am… and this is supporting the troops how? The right-wingers just stuck their foot in their mouths with this one.
January 14th, 2006 at 11:26 amThe Democrats don’t support the troops.
January 14th, 2006 at 11:27 am#16, you are full of shit.
Correct me if I’m wrong, dipshit, but NONE of them served with Kerry.
Check out your “facts”, asshole.

January 14th, 2006 at 11:32 amAccording to the story, former representative Don Bailey (D-Pa.), a Democrat and decorated veteran is the one attacking Murtha:
January 14th, 2006 at 11:38 am
Stop lying Joe, they served with Kerry. Unlike Kerry, they didn’t leave after 4 months.
January 14th, 2006 at 11:39 amThis is a report in an old dispute between 2 democrats, both veterens of Vietnam. Don Baily, D-PA, wrote this letter to after Murtha stabbed him in the back and called him a liar. Who’s the shameless democrat in this dispute? Murtha
http://www.politicspa.com/FEATURES/baileylttomurtha.htm
Portions of the letter:
May 5, 2002
Dear Jack,
I’m writing on matters of joint concern.
Sincerely,
Don Bailey
January 14th, 2006 at 11:41 am…so in essence ThinkProgress is “Swift-boating” Bailey ,a fellow Demcorat and decorated Vietnam war veteran. ROFL
Shameful.
January 14th, 2006 at 11:41 amLooks like bush the murderer is at it again with flawed intelligence and 17 people dead in a botched Pakistan airstrike.
When is this cocksucker going to be stopped?
January 14th, 2006 at 11:44 amThe Debtonator shows all the class and thoughtfulness anyone expects from Democrats today. ROFL
January 14th, 2006 at 11:52 amstop lying, #22.
January 14th, 2006 at 11:59 amAs for this story about Murtha and having a republican like Bailey question his honor is disgraceful.
January 14th, 2006 at 12:09 pmJoe, stop lying about the decorated Vietnam veterans of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth who served with Hanoi John Kerry.
January 14th, 2006 at 12:10 pmBailey is a Democrat and a decorated Vietnam veteran. Is Joe a liar or just illiterate?
January 14th, 2006 at 12:11 pm… so in essence, “stop lying” is trying to change the real story here. Give it up.
January 14th, 2006 at 12:15 pmThis brings up an interesting thing.
January 14th, 2006 at 12:23 pmMy Take,
January 14th, 2006 at 12:24 pmYou’re spinning the story. This is a case of Democrats “Swift Boating” Democrats!! Don Baily is Democrat! Pay attention.
How is this shameless?
You Democrats love to ignore the truth.
The truth is that John Murtha did not deserve his Purple Hearts.
The truth is that John Murtha is a liar and a fake war hero, just like John Kerry.
If John Murtha has nothing to hide, he should release his military records.
January 14th, 2006 at 12:25 pmNo sane person would ever call the Washington Post a conservative site.
The decorated Vietnam veterans of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth told the truth about John Kerry.
January 14th, 2006 at 12:27 pmThe source for this muckraking crap is none other the one of the Neocons best fruitcakes (they all are in more ways than one!) Brent Boswell.
January 14th, 2006 at 12:30 pmGary, I disagree. Republicans should not join these Democratic attacks against Murtha’s war record.
They should limit their critique to his idiotic ideas about Iraq.
January 14th, 2006 at 12:30 pmstop lying, I think that if his war record shows that he lacks credibility, then that will further diminish the credibility of his “Surrender Plan”
Murtha’s entire career is based on flogging the “War Hero” claim.
If John Murtha didn’t get those medals, then he wouldn’t be in politics today. He would be running a hardware store in Pennsylvania.
January 14th, 2006 at 12:33 pmJohn, the source is Democrat Bailey.
January 14th, 2006 at 12:33 pmLiberals hate anyone who isn’t just like themselves.

January 14th, 2006 at 12:34 pm“If John Murtha didn’t get those medals, then he wouldn’t be in politics today. ”

January 14th, 2006 at 12:34 pmI suspect brownshirts like Trident can never be convinced using logic, facts and reason.
January 14th, 2006 at 12:35 pm#11, your swift boat reading is not correct – (no news there) Kerry completed his term on the USS Gridley and then went back for the swift boat command.
January 14th, 2006 at 12:36 pmIt is simply unconscionable that the White House sends out its toadies to deliberately attack someone who disagrees with their word.

January 14th, 2006 at 12:39 pm“His record is more than just the medals.”
No, it isn’t.
The mainlines of attack for anybody who dares to criticize St. John are
“He’s a war hero!”
“He’s a war hero!”
When in fact, that is not true.
Had he just served in Vietnam, he wouldn’t have won office.
In fact, in 1968, before he got his medals, he ran for Congress and lost.
“Why not focus on his current surrender plan for Iraq?”
His surrender plan lacks any merit for a long term focus.
It’s a plan that benefits the terrorists in Iraq first, and not America.
It’s obvious that Murtha is not a strategist.
He’s just an old man who is fading into senility and who is being used by the anti-America moment for their purposes.
January 14th, 2006 at 12:40 pmI am convinced that Dick Cheney deserved everyone of his five deferrments and both of his DWI’s.

Clarence Thomas was accused of telling a few naughty jokes. Clinton was accused of rape and assault. So of course liberals supported Clinton and opposed the black man.
January 14th, 2006 at 12:58 pmBig Papa,
This is my exact thoughts when I read this piece from the Washington Post.
January 14th, 2006 at 1:03 pm#16 — That’s a FLAT OUT LIE.
January 14th, 2006 at 1:08 pmIt is HUBRIS to try and dissect the career of a man who dedicated almost 4 DECADES of his life to the United State Marines.
Who cares HOW MANY MEDALS he has? Who cares HOW HE GOT THEM?
4 DECADES? And they are comparing him to a men who were AWOL from the National Guard and men who did not serve ONE DAY in uniform?
WANTON HUBRIS
January 14th, 2006 at 1:10 pmThe Swiftboat Veterans group absolutely DID serve with John Kerry.
SpudgeBoy, former Rep. Don Bailey, the guy attacking Murtha is a DEMOCRAT and a decorated Vietnam veteran. Read the story.
January 14th, 2006 at 1:11 pmAh, the “Southern Racist Strategy” was part of the Republican Parties agenda.

January 14th, 2006 at 1:12 pmAnd post # 57 was absolutely right.
January 14th, 2006 at 1:13 pmOK Tetra King and all of you other King George supporters why bash war heros, answer these questions?
January 14th, 2006 at 1:14 pm#35, If George Bush has nothiing to hide, HE should release ALL of his service records (and educational records and medical records and drug and alcohol history, while he’s at it) and free up anyone who wants to speak to do so without reprisal.
January 14th, 2006 at 1:14 pmI am not a Democrat, so it doesn’t bother me. WHat does is idiots like you trying to throw mud at a 37 year veteran of the armed services.
Have you served in the military? Pussy.
January 14th, 2006 at 1:14 pmWe have read the story dimwit.

January 14th, 2006 at 1:15 pm#39, And if George Bush didn’t have his mommy and daddy’s monoey and intervention in every educational and professional endeavor, he’d be a homeless drunk in Texas.

Trident
January 14th, 2006 at 1:21 pm#49, I’d bet he deserved those heart attacks too!! It was God’s way of telling him he wasn’t using it enough and to stop being a heartless bastard.
January 14th, 2006 at 1:21 pmDS, insulting me will not change the fact that the guy who attacked Murtha’s record is a Democrat and a decorated Vietnam veteran. The Democrats’ capacity for blatant hypocrisy is boundless.
January 14th, 2006 at 1:21 pmRush had a boil on his ass.

January 14th, 2006 at 1:22 pmI mean, we are talking about almost 40 FREAKIN YEARS in the SERVICE!
To dismiss that deserves a punch in the mouth.
January 14th, 2006 at 1:22 pmDick Cheney might be a 5 time draft evader, but he is a world-class war monger and war profiteer.
January 14th, 2006 at 1:23 pmYou know what else is shameless?
January 14th, 2006 at 1:23 pmI think Bush’s status should be investigate. He has made it an issue. Like Kerry’s past, this should be investigated. Too bad no one will talk on the record though. Kerry was smeared on “heresay”, all of the evidence pointed to a sterling military record.
But no one will talk about Bush because they don’t want to end up in G’itmo.

January 14th, 2006 at 1:24 pmThe Swiftboat Asshole of Lies want to distract from things like

WORFEUS obviously refuses to read the story. The guy attacking Murtha’s record is a DEMOCRAT.
January 14th, 2006 at 1:25 pmI already told you that political affiliation doesn’t mean shit to me. You are throwing mud and you are a pussy. Answer my question. Ever served in the military?
January 14th, 2006 at 1:26 pmGeorge W.

January 14th, 2006 at 1:29 pmWhat mud did I throw, SpudgeBoy? I said Murtha should not be attacked for his military record, as the Demcorats are doing.
Others here are falsely accusing Republicans of attacking Murtha’s war record; I’m merely setting the record straight.
January 14th, 2006 at 1:29 pmSpudge, I agree with you. The terror attack on Pakistan was just another crime against humanity and Bubble boy hopes we are all too stupid to acknowledge this outrageous crime.

January 14th, 2006 at 1:32 pm“Thinkprogress should post this story. The U.S. has become terrorists and we The People have a thing or two to say about that.”
I agree with Susan. ThinkProgress should call America “terrorist” every chance they get. This will assure Republican victory in November.
January 14th, 2006 at 1:32 pmSusan, I’m not going to get off topic so I won’t comment on this in this post again, but just know this from someone who knows what Bush is talking about when he talks about the central exchanges that calls pass through.
January 14th, 2006 at 1:32 pmSo, stop directing your “he’s a democrat” posts at me, because I don’t give a fvck.
Anybody that would attack somebody who has served this country during wartime is an asshole and should be shot as a traitor. And that would include your democrat.
January 14th, 2006 at 1:33 pm#73, First of all, I haven’t stated a party affiliation so you’re making an assumption that you shouldn’t.
The boundless hypocrasy is yours, little one.

January 14th, 2006 at 2:03 pmDS, with these Republican clowns you have to differentiate “served with” vis-a-vis “in the boat” because only one was in the boat, and he had an axe to grind.

January 14th, 2006 at 2:24 pmStop lying, please,
Don Bailey lost to Murtha.

January 14th, 2006 at 2:32 pmI have a feeling “Stop Lying” is a teen-ager.
January 14th, 2006 at 2:33 pmJonathon, stop lying. The smears are coming from the left.
January 14th, 2006 at 2:33 pmEither that, or he or she skipped the part in high school where they taught you about critical thinking.
January 14th, 2006 at 2:33 pmLeft wing smears: Bill Clinton and Hillary killed Vince Foster.
January 14th, 2006 at 2:33 pmJonathon is annoying me, and is therefore a felon. LOL
January 14th, 2006 at 2:34 pmStop Lying,
I do believe that Don Bailey and CNS/Limbaugh attacked Murtha first. That’s a matter of record.
Unfortunately for you, it’s also easy to verify, which I’m sure our illustrious readers are quite capable of doing.
January 14th, 2006 at 2:34 pmStop Lying,
I’m using my real name, and this is a left-wing board. Who’s annoying who?
Hey, it’s your president who signed the law.
January 14th, 2006 at 2:35 pmI remind our right-wing posters that they are still in the minority 38% who support this administration.
January 14th, 2006 at 2:35 pmWhat’s more, I’m simply quoting facts. You’re on here for no other purpose than to get a rise out of people.
That’s why the call ‘em “trolls”.
January 14th, 2006 at 2:36 pmMy Take,
January 14th, 2006 at 2:36 pmThat’s a pretty small and shrinking minority, at that.
Hey Stop Lying? Thing Dubya will wave and flash the victory sign as he hitches his exit ride on Marine One early next year?
Or will he just kick the dog, grab Laura by the ear and storm out?
January 14th, 2006 at 2:36 pmRush Limbaugh is leading American troops into battle from behind his radio console in his air conditioned multi-million dollar mansion while sitting on a donut pillow to help ease the pain from his pilonidal cyst that kept him from serving in Vietnam but didn’t keep him from picking up his unemployment checks in the 80’s.
The steady infusion of Oxycontin into his system helps ease the pain of the cyst and of the fact that he is a 3X divorcee who is not fulifilling God’s plans to procreate.

January 14th, 2006 at 2:38 pmWell, time to stop feeding the troll. There’s nothing being accomplished besides running up the comment count.
January 14th, 2006 at 2:38 pmI don’t know Jonathon, I think we may have hurt his feelings…..
Come on stop lying, no reply to my last 2 posts?
You’re slippin dude.
January 14th, 2006 at 2:39 pmBut you’re right Jon, besides, there is a new thread that is HOT HOT HOT.
IRAN, the NEW IRAQ.
I thinks that ones gonna be a keeper.
January 14th, 2006 at 2:40 pmTo the tinfolil eunuch lying
Don’t you realize you are a pathetic joke here. We look upon you with fascination and disgust as you puke up GOP spew and then get down on hand and knee and lap it up again.
January 14th, 2006 at 2:41 pmIsn’t this some fun.5and 1/2 hours of discussing Murtha instead of what Murtha said.
January 14th, 2006 at 2:42 pmInstead of that discussion, this is Murtha and his medals. He didn’t lie about having them,he does. Anything else is just an attempt to distract from the real issue.
Nice.
WORFEUS is bowing out now to a newer thread, by saying Mr. Murtha, if you read this, you’re the MAN!!!
And I mean THE MAN!
Show these slugs what a real hero looks like, and clean their clocks!
January 14th, 2006 at 2:42 pmI have to go an join the other 67% of Americans who think Bush is a putz.

January 14th, 2006 at 2:42 pmWho is this dunce, stop lying? He argues like a child on the school playground. Throwing back charges, with nothing to back up anything.
January 14th, 2006 at 2:43 pm#137, WORFEUS, thanks for the great link regarding the Swiftboat Vets organization.
January 14th, 2006 at 2:44 pmOnce again, libs are trying to pin a case of Democrats smearing Democrats on Republicans. It ain’t working.
This is a report in an old dispute between 2 democrats, both veterens of Vietnam. Don Baily, D-PA, wrote this letter to after Murtha stabbed him in the back and called him a liar. Who’s the shameless democrat in this dispute? Murtha
http://www.politicspa.com/FEATURES/baileylttomurtha.htm
Portions of the letter:
May 5, 2002
Dear Jack,
I’m writing on matters of joint concern.
Sincerely,
Don Bailey
January 14th, 2006 at 3:04 pmWORFEUS, #163, stop lying is about half right about former democratic Rep.
January 14th, 2006 at 3:08 pmJoe — THEY DID SERVE TOGETHER.
January 14th, 2006 at 3:10 pmI came here to have an argument.
January 14th, 2006 at 3:17 pmNo you didn’t.
January 14th, 2006 at 3:37 pmStop lying, #209. And Steed whatever in #206.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but have you seen the latest FOX News/Opinion Dynamics poll taken January 10-11?
“Which party in Washington do you think is more corrupt: Democrats or Republicans?”
Democrats = 15% Republicans = 33% Same = 40%
I mean, it doesn’t bode well for us conservatives, huh? Like a repugnican bitch-slapping waiting to happen come November elections.
Well, guess I’ll join with Spudeboy and say, GO BRONCO’s. Now it is off to the bar for me, to sop up a pitcher of beer and watch the Seattle Seahawks do some bitch-slapping of their own.
Oh yes: latest Fox Ndew

January 14th, 2006 at 4:58 pmwho are the people smearing war veterans?
nor kerry, not murtha
there is no honor in smearing war veterans records…..unless of course they cannot be found….
also, there is no honor smearing the mother of fallen comrades

January 14th, 2006 at 6:07 pmthis is what lil w and the neocon cowboys fear……and why they smear the messenger each and everytime they hear….the truth
“We’re inciting terrorism there….We’re destabilizing the area by being over there because we’re the targets,†Murtha says.
from CBS….
January 14th, 2006 at 6:09 pmBTW
During the election campaign I met most of John Kerry’s actual boatmates during his 2 different tours of duty in Vietnam…..
to a man, they all said John Kerry was a courageous leader they would follow anywhere, to this day….
No liar on this site can show any proof that any of the Swift Liars were on any of John Kerry’s boats….
simple as that….they all lied for political gain…..most, if not all were already Republican officials….including the two who were MOH winners….and not low level, but state level repugs……
furthermore, the swift liars were originally directed by Kay Bailey Hutchinson and a white house lawyer named Goldberg (i believe)…..both of whom had to quit lil w’s camplaign after he lied and said no one in his campaign were connected to the swift liars
the swift liars may be vets……but have no honor
January 14th, 2006 at 6:26 pm“the swift liars may be vets……but have no honor”
They are Republicans first, Americans 2nd. Of course they have no honor. Their allegience is to the Syndicate.
Never once heard them bitch about Bush’s obvious AWOL on his ANG commitment. Nor mention of Dick “5 deferments” Cheney’s lack of service.
Hmmmm, wonder why?
January 14th, 2006 at 7:45 pmuh, because none of them even served, eh?

January 14th, 2006 at 8:31 pmFrom HuffPo
C-SPAN has the full broadcast here.

January 14th, 2006 at 8:58 pmGood ol’ Bushies. Pity.
January 14th, 2006 at 9:59 pma link to disprove lil w completed his service…..

imho
lil w avoided the physical to lose his pilot license intentionally because he had been awol….which could have resulted in being placed in an active duty catagory and sent…..you know where……which was the penalty for not completing his service….

January 15th, 2006 at 12:01 amFrom dailykos on the matter. Bailey is completely discredited as being someone who’s just settling a score. What a liar – how can he call himself a democrat. Clearly Bailey is a ZellMiller/Republican version of a democrat. Poor thing, I feel sorry for him that he would carry this level of hatred.

It sounds like this is angering the centrists too. This guy sounds very angry:

The more I witness the “civil political discourse” btwn right wing Bushite conservatives and patriotic American progressives on internet fora and in the MSM the more I become convinced that right wing conservative hypocrites, bigots, racists and homophobes who support the criminal Bushite regime ALL deserve immediate:
1) poverty
2) calamity
3) hardship
4) pestilence
5) disease
6) disaster
7) death
8) extinction
They do not deserve to survive or perpetuate their recessive inbred gene pool, and definitely don’t deserve to be considered Americans (let alone human beings)…

January 15th, 2006 at 12:24 pmBush’s personal style of leadership has caused a division in the nation by supporting and courting his “base” while denying access by taxpayers, voters and citizens to his public meetings and appearances.
January 15th, 2006 at 12:29 pmThe Swift Boat Veterans told the truth about Hanoi John Kerry, who served only 4 months of a year-long tour.

Nova,
In spite of poll numbers against them, (which I view skeptically no matter which way they point), the Bushites hold two very real, very dangerous aces-in-the-hole:
1) the ability to “create reality”; ie, perpetrating a 9/11 style attack to “unify the scared masses…
2) Diebold electronic voting machines…
January 15th, 2006 at 12:49 pmMurtha is a shameless pig who trashes the war effort for gain. He doesn’t care about the troops – he cares about the spotlight.
