Ah, the deranged sore loser rants again! LOL

  4. Wayne A. Schneider says:

I’ve posted this question before, but this seems like the perfect thread to pose it again.

I have a question for all supporters of President Bush. The president has claimed that Article 2, Section 2, of the US Constitution, in conjunction with the authority Congress gave to attack those responsible for 9-11 gives him the authority to conduct wiretaps on American citizens within the US. He claims even broader powers than this.

My question is: How far do those powers go? Are there any limits to his power whatsoever? Could he decide that you are an enemy combatant, have you picked up off the street, thrown into a prison cell not necessarily in this country, deny you the right to a lawyer, deny you a right to have your case brought before any kind of judge, deny you contact with your family or friends, and then, after he decided the time was right, have you executed? Can he do that? Or are there limits to his authority?

Keep in mind that short oif actually executing anyone (as far as we know), the president has not only claimed to have the authority to do all those other things, he actually has done all those other things. So it’s not just thought exercise. Where do his powers end?

  5. Dan says:

It’s not about what’s Left or Right, it’s about what’s right and wrong.

  6. Citizen80203 says:

Funny, the warriors of our party all seem to be on the outside with no real chance of achieving power. The ones who yield power are the ineffectual slugs who build war chests so they can bob and weave their way to an ineffectual presidential run, then keep the coins left over from their ineffectual run.

  7. CarolSoprano says:

What a great speech! Unfortunately, it wasn’t carried on any of the major news networks (what a surprise!) Every member of Congress (whether Democrat or Republican) had better read every word of this speech and do a little soul-searching … and do the job he or she was elected to do.

Hey, #3, please knock it off. Your dismissal of Gore’s statements by branding him a sore loser are tired, old and really infantile. Can you not look at the substance of what he said? Are there things in in his speech that you disagree with, substantive arguments that you have to refute his contentions? I’m going to bet that you don’t. If you have nothing constructive to say spare us your idiotic and moronic insults.

  8. darraugh says:

After Gore worked on NAFTA the last year of his vp. And
the Clinton Administration put in NAFTA leading to
outsourcing and CAFTA then one way feasible trade with
Communist China with slave wages and skinnig alive dogs
and cats. And just like cat killer Frist has never atoned
nor has he for the people’s lives he destroyed. Nor could
they ever fcr the horrrs they have done.

You think because he almost run in 2000 you can run him
again and he may win. Well 2000 is a whole differnt ball
game from 2008. In 2000 there was any outsourcing or
CAFTA coming from the NAFTA clinton/gore put in. But
three years after there has been millions of people
who have had their jobs go offshore or hurt indirectly
by it and say l7 million service jobs gong offshore.
So you run Gore and people are not goiong to vote at
all. Or if the do are goint to vote for Independant
Sanders of Vermont who is for the people, fights for
the people and signauture is the elderly not

4th Generation Democrats No longer. Although will
vote for Edwars, Dean, Sanders. But if you run gore,
hillary, bahy and biden who voted for bankruptcy bill
writing in Sanders. And like Sanders for vp to Edwards
any way. Not voting for clinton/gore who stabbed in
the back the workers, unions, people. people on SS
who voted for them with NAFTA. Nor voting for turncoats
who took the people votes, time, money and didn’t tell
them were going to vote with bush who know alwasy against
the people. Con Artist Fraud. People in jail for less.
Kick them out of the Demcoratic Party. If can’t get
challenger get together and decide on someone to run
    and write them in.

  9. The Debtonator says:

He just summed up the feelings of every REAL American.

  10. Gary Ruppert says:

The fact of the matter is that Al Gore is a deranged lunatic. The fact is that the stress of him losing decisively has destroyed his sense of reasonability.

Al Gore is siding with the extreme left against the monitoring of terrorists in this nation.

  11. Alvord says:

Al Gore’s speech was terrific in content and in tone of delivery. Senators and congressmen of both parties should get off their collective asses and do something to restore the balance of power written into our constitution. The unilateral executive is going too far in his power grab and the congress is laying down and letting him get away with it.

  12. Spudge_Boy says:

“The fact of the matter is that Al Gore is a deranged lunatic.”

That is ironic coming from you.

  13. profmarcus says:

“You think because he almost run in 2000 you can run him
again and he may win. Well 2000 is a whole differnt ball
    game from 2008.”

i, for one, am not suggesting he run… what i am incredibly glad to see is someone, ANYONE, with any credibility and the ability to command any kind of public hearing speaking out on the on-going coup d’etat we’ve been experiencing in the united states since the florida debacle… the united states constitution is in the toilet and there are several hands reaching for the handle – bush, cheney, rumsfeld, rove, gonzales and now, alito… listen for that familiar flushing sound… at least SOMEBODY is speaking the truth and i don’t give a damn WHO IT IS… the truth needs to be spoken, LOUD AND LONG…

Visit my blog: And, yes, I DO take it personally

  14. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    #10 Mr. Ruppert,

Those aren’t “facts” and he is NOT “siding with the extreme left against the monitoring of terrorists in this nation”, he’s siding with Americans of all political persuasions who think this president has gone too far when he ordered wire-tapping of domestic phone calls of people who disagree with him politically.

The president has the authority to order wiretaps against suspected terrorists. He just has to go to court to get permission, and he can do that after he has already started. You shouldn’t try to muddle the debate with irrelevancy.

By the way, what do YOU think the limits of the president’s powers are (see #4)?

  15. Thot's says:

Al Gore summed it up didn’t he.

It is time for all good men and women who love this country to step forward …..

Sinclair Lewis Book : It Can’t Happen Here : about how fasicm will take over America while we sleep in our “False Security”

  16. Gary Ruppert says:

As well, Al Gore compared Martin Luther King, Jr. to Osama bin Laden, by opposing the monitoring of MLK and OBL.

  17. darraugh says:

As you see I couldn’t find a way to edit and I need to.
Also, I am angry I can’t understand how anyone can think
gore or want to run him for president after he has taken
millions of people jobs offshore. And then one way trade
with Communist China who skins cats and dogs alive. Suits
with Stocks if so come back at bite you in butt.

Second paragraph should have been “won” not “run”. And in 2000 there wasn’t ourtsourcing.

Sorry, but always go back and edit and couldn’t find
a way to do so. But angry enough about you making a man
who put in NAFTA which led to outsourcing and CAFTA and
one way trade with Communist China for president Hilary with her
    legal background cannot claim ignroance.

  18. Denis says:

    1. Ignore Ruppert, he’s nothing but a troll.

    2. If Gore had spoken with that much intensity during the 2000 campaign, the U.S. would still be a democracy today. What a shame!

    3. If you think my previous statement is exaggerated, understand that most people outside the U.S. have pretty much given up hope. Gore has correcly recognized, even if a little late, that history has already repeated itself. It’s not completely too late, but you Americans have better wake up soon, or you will have lost your last opportunity to save your Constitution.

  19. Optimist says:

    Mr. Ruppert,
Provide me with the facts of which you speak and I will gladly review them so as to make an informed and coherent decision regarding the “sanity” of Mr. Gore.

However, if all that you are doing is attempting to marginalize Mr. Gore’s message by throwing out baseless accusations, well, then you are only discrediting yourself and acting against free speech and dissent, which are two founding principles of the United States of America.

  20. wisedup says:

President Gore IS the truly elected President, repubs stole it away from Americans. He’s speaking up, and it need to be said and acted upon. America was the loser in 2000, and yes we’re sore about it,but we will correct this and the repubs will be ACCOUNTABLE for all the damage they have done. What trolls?…I just see some robots with oral looping recorders put up by $.

  21. John Paul Rice says:

This is the moment that will define our democracy – from here we will go either way.

    From Gore’s Speech:

The founders of our country faced dire threats. If they failed in their endeavors, they would have been hung as traitors. The very existence of our country was at risk.

Yet, in the teeth of those dangers, they insisted on establishing the Bill of Rights.

Is our Congress today in more danger than were their predecessors when the British army was marching on the Capitol? Is the world more dangerous than when we faced an ideological enemy with tens of thousands of missiles poised to be launched against us and annihilate our country at a moment’s notice? Is America in more danger now than when we faced worldwide fascism on the march-when our fathers fought and won two World Wars simultaneously?

It is simply an insult to those who came before us and sacrificed so much on our behalf to imply that we have more to be fearful of than they. Yet they faithfully protected our freedoms and now it is up to us to do the same.

We have a duty as Americans to defend our citizens’ right not only to life but also to liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It is therefore vital in our current circumstances that immediate steps be taken to safeguard our Constitution against the present danger posed by the intrusive overreaching on the part of the Executive Branch and the President’s apparent belief that he need not live under the rule of law.

I endorse the words of Bob Barr, when he said, “The President has dared the American people to do something about it. For the sake of the Constitution, I hope they will.”

  22. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    #17 darraugh,

Just a little tip for your “editing” problem. The computer I use at work has Microsoft Word (but any decent word processing program with a spell checker will do), so I use that to write my longer posts and then just copy and paste them into the comments box. Typos are a fact of life here, and we just try to figure out what the poster must have meant. Good luck.

I do agree that Mr. Gore has some answering to do before we let him carry the banner.

  23. The Debtonator says:

Rupert just showed his ignorance AGAIN! Bet he didn’t even read the speech. Typical troll! Go back to your little bridge pansy. When I come tip-tapping across it, be sure to say hi.

  24. darraugh says:

Smudge Boy. Read couple comments of yours when on here before. “Who are you calling racist? I am part Cherokee don’t live in the white section of LA” or some thing like that.
And liked you. But have not read that many comments by
you. So know your street smart but always wondered are you street smart enough not to be for clinton/gor/demorats voted
for bankruptcy bill, etc Kennedy for partners with MCCain really bush and make US the best military of the third world
countries. Just always wondered and saw you name on it.
    bush

  25. Patel says:

Comment #5 by Dan: Bulls Eye!!

The Republicans will turn everything into a Left or Right issue precisely to avoid a Right or Wrong debate.

A population deliberately made stupid by a corporate-owned MSM responds well to three word slogans, lofty rhetoric, and falsified religious “values”. It’s an effective way of shaping a population’s way of thinking but only within a confined zone of stupidity.

The world, unfortunately, is not fed on a diet of CNN, NBC, CBS, FOX, and MSNBC. We have a problem, as Sen. Murtha pointed out, when this hot bologna meets the cold hard wall of fact and reality in a field of battle somewhere outside the designated stupid zone. Like Iraq and Afghanistan for example.

  26. darraugh says:

Thank you have to get spell check fixed too.

  27. Don says:

    Wayne,

It seems clear to me that the Constitution statement: –”The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States”–means what it says, and I don’t see any wording that would in any way imply that domestic surveillance is a part of it. Do you?

  28. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    Don,

No, I do not. People often shorten this to simply “Commander in Chief”, but he’s not commander in chief of civilians, just the military. What this president has to understand is that under our form of government, it’s him who has to answer to us, not the other way around. We all know how much he would prefer a dictatorship. All I can recommend to him is that he move to another continent and launch his efforts there. They won’t be tolerated in this country.

  29. RightPunch says:

“The fact of the matter is that Al Gore is a deranged lunatic. The fact is that the stress of him losing decisively has destroyed his sense of reasonability. Gary Ruppert”

Wow, such extremism – are you sure you aren’t talking about yourself, considering that Bush lost the election by a half million votes? And what’s unreasonable about protecting the civil liberties of all americans, even those suspected of crimes? Would you trample everyone’s rights in order to catch those who would harm us? Are you sure you’re a responsible adult, because that sounds like a particularly childlike and childish perspective on the world.

“Al Gore is siding with the extreme left against the monitoring of terrorists in this nation. Gary Ruppert”

Illegal monitoring of americans is a sign of cowardice. The executive branch is littered with cowards who are too afraid to go to a judge, and use legal means to accomplish this task. Arguing that anyone who demands judicial oversight on monitoring is ‘anti-monitoring’ is deceptive, cowardly and unamerican. I feel sorry for you that you clearly don’t understand and appreciate american values or american history.

As Al Gore pointed out, even during the Revolution, the founding fathers put in place the bill of rights. Do you believe our founding fathers were in less danger than we were? The difference is they showed the kind of courage that you seem incapable of mustering. Don’t be afraid Gary, those of us with courage will protect you from yourself.

  30. Max-1 says:

Bush’s Orwellian Wisdoms must not be allowed to prevail.

It is a sad day in America that we, as a people, succumb to the fear of terror when, as Franklin Delano Roosevelt reminded us, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Our Civil Liberties rest on this very precipice.

    America, TAKE BACK YOUR GOVERNMENT.

  31. The Debtonator says:

Be nice to gary. He OBVIOUSLY has some MENTAL issues.

  32. Marie says:

Notice how nasty the trolls are on this thread — they have no argument about the content of Gore’s speech (which was impassioned, reasoned and true) so they call him “lunatic” and “sore loser” and other ad hominem attacks for lack of anything of substance. They have no argument. They can’t defend Bush’s illegal behavior. They are satisfied with Bushie doin’ a heckuva job.

  33. RightPunch says:

    Debtonator,

He’s have a ‘fear seizure’. The unbridled fear among those of the right usually drive them to make bad choices. They generally want to be good people, and make good choices – but fear is the mind killer.

  34. Marie says:

Do the trolls who have functioning brains actually think we would be in worse condition today if Gore were President?

  35. RightPunch says:

    Marie,

How true. If anyone’s a sore loser, it’s GWBush. After all, he’s the one who sued to stop a legitimate recount, and took it all of the way to the supreme court.

  36. Patel says:

deranged lunatic: A person who starts wars he cannot win, with an army he does not have, with money he does not have, against the wishes of the people who elected him, against a people who had nothing to do with 9/11 and still dreams of invading yet another, only this time stronger, Muslim country.

  37. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    #32 Agreed, Marie,

And I notice our old friend wwallace is back as NoCensorship. The screen name is one giveaway (wwallace was banned for a time) and the “LOL” that he liked to tack on to the end of his posts is another. I don’t think he knows what it means. Either that or he has some mental disorder that makes him laugh at everything he says. In any case, he never posts arguments of substance.

Mr. Ruppert is no better and apparently can’t seem to answer a simple question on the limits of presidential authority. Normally I ignore them, but this time I am curious to see if they can answer honestly and factually. It’s a high bar, but it’s got to be jumped.

  38. Spudge_Boy says:

Oh yeah and Gary Rupert, just so you are on the same page as every other person on the face of the planet:

    Speaking about Osama Bin Laden

“I don’t know. I don’t really think about him very much. I’m not that concerned.”

    -George Bush

So, stop peppering your bullshit comments with Osama Bin Laden rehtoric, because your fearless leader doesn’t give a rats ass about Osama, so why do you.

  39. darraugh says:

I don’t see how you people can be for someone who took
other Americans jobs offshore and when loose their jobs
loose healthcare and go without healthcare. And their childrn and pets suffer. How can allow any president to
take people’s jobs from them. Hoover was the stocket market.
Or buy from country will slave market and kills cats and dogs.
Where is your compassion. I want someone to fight for us
too just as much as you or more. So far only been Durbin.
Been disappointed one after the other. Obama voted for
Rice; Cantwell voted for CAFTA; in Progresive said Boxer
supported “privatization of Presido”; Kennedy partner with
McCain. But I want someone to fight for us that we can
trust and unlike Hillary only have to cheat on us once.
So cannot trust Gore for NAFTA and trade with China and
any of the rest of them that has screwed us with CAFTA,
bankruptcy bill etc. Need a Vote of No Confidence like
Canada. the republican motto is if the little guy does
not produce or excuse for outsourcing fire them. We
should do the same with governental officials if they
do not produce. Or if they take our time, money and
votes and then go with bush against us. Con Artist.
And like guy said on C Span in Summer of 2004 he cannnot
believe how the Americans just lay down and let bush
walk all over them. Nor can I . Instead of just congressmen
getting off their asses so should the people. This is
the worse of times and people do nothing about it except
for Cindy Sheehan and people with her. And Stop the
Invasion and people with them. If you are going to talk the
talk then walk it. for people like me think should be able
to roll bak and edit like used to doing. Just a suggestion

    wirh McCain (bush)

  40. wisedup says:

bushe thinking, “War on Terrrrests”,”will NEVER end, so in a state of war, blank check to do anything he wants. He think this makes anything legal for him…NO WAY. For the sheep who think domestic spying is “OK”….well ‘ok’ this, PUBLIC NOTICE OF WARRENTS ISSUED, NAMES,DATES PLACES ETC. and then look for YOUR NAME, because it may just be there! Lose your cell phone, someone find it and call overseas???????? Someone get in your house and call IRAQ?….then YOU may be a terrrrsis….think about it CAREFULLY.

  41. The Debtonator says:

RightPunch, if you’ve ever read Mein Kampf, you would see a tremendous correlation between the way bush leads and the way Hitler lead. He too, used fear as a control device. He too thought that he was above the law. He too imposed HIS WILL on the people.

Like Hitler, bush too will fall.

  42. The Debtonator says:

Marie that the problem. These trolls HAVE NO brains.

  43. Tracy says:

    #4

“How far do those powers go?”

As far as Congress and the courts are willing to let them go. The president is going to do what he thinks is necessary to protect the country from another terrorist attack.

Are there any limits to his power whatsoever?

Absolutely, it’s up to the congress and the courts to decide.

“Could he decide that you are an enemy combatant, have you picked up off the street, thrown into a prison…”

If it is determined by written law approved by the courts that you are an illegal “enemy combatant” then, yes. The Congress and the Courts need to truely sit down an define what an “illegal enemy combatant” is.

  44. house resolution 635 says:

Re-elect Al Gore president in 2008

    with Bill Clinton as VP

this will effectively drive the rwrs so crazy, they will run, lemming like, off the nearest cliff…

    and

these two can right the ship so that we can again live in peace and prosperity….

  46. The Debtonator says:

Here’s a guy that I would personally LOVE to see run for president.

    THE SAVIOR OF AMERICAN POLITICS

  47. RightPunch says:

“RightPunch, if you’ve ever read Mein Kampf, you would see a tremendous correlation between the way bush leads and the way Hitler lead. He too, used fear as a control device. He too thought that he was above the law. He too imposed HIS WILL on the people.
Like Hitler, bush too will fall. The Debtonator”

Well, the US had a major influx of Nazis and Rightwing zealots after WWII. The CIA had a special project that recruited them in their efforts to fight the ‘commies’, and hence why you get both the son and grandson of a Nazi sympathizer become head of the CIA, and both become president.

The McCarthy era purged america of most of its more radical leftist people and ideas, but the rightwing was not only left unpurged, it was subsidized with outside ‘talent’ from Europe. It’s no surprise the modern republicans have moved so far ideologically to the right – they were permitted to by the anti-commie and now anti-islamic elements.

There’s always such a degree of fear and hysteria that surrounds extremists like this. I truly feel sorry for them, because it’s obvious they’re just scared little children inside. I feel a great deal of sorrow for them that this is how they have to ‘act out’ as adults.

  48. darraugh says:

There is no differnce between gore and bush so doesn’t matter who run the election for they are both against the
people. You think loosing your job and since no natinal healthcare loose insurnance then go without healtchare.
Get Get sick, get worse, cost more and even can die
The children go without present.winter coats, and college.
Pet lovers? Well after loosing their health insurance, houses, food off their table for can’t find job and when
do be lower wages. Like computer programmer from Chicago
who took him year to find job and then half the wages.
The guy from Electralus sweeper and Engineer from Chicago
suburb on C Span with Durbin. The guy from Electralus
Sweepers broke down crying for his family. Neither of them
thought good as paying job although had same bills and
house pamyment and doubt if did. The Engineer said American
never get SS and taxes from payroll check again. I could
go on and on like this. Pet lover. Well these people could
no longer afford to keep their pets esp with obnoxious vet
fees. Leave the pets behind, dump them or take them to pound
where be killed or worse taken to some place who experiments
on animals. No kill shelter even with 4 in this are are
packed with 6 month waiing list. I am only say a very little
of what I know. clinton/gore/bush/chaney all melt together
and planned in some back room. And if you are gore to for
help you are goiin to the enemy for help. Unless of course
you are suit with stock and Un American and don’t care
about Americans and Ameria. But you will get it too in the
end. And I am from the Midwest. I have seen three plants
go offshore to Mexico and other one from two towns in state
to Mexico and China. Or engineers and computer programmers
jobs. Not to mention the 48 US welfare agencies in India.
The 6 engineers from CA who were sent to train in India
and 6 months later when got back to CA all 6 were fired.

You people for the part are so naive I can’t even
believe it. Maybe your jobs should have been outsourced
so you wouldn’t be so naive. Sorry about not editing but
use to other websites where can roll back. Also my Irish
temper is up to see people so uncaring about what has
happened to other people having their jobs stolen from
them. And even worse supporting them like gore.

  49. RightPunch says:

    darraugh,

I feel your frustration, but millions of jobs were created under Clinton, and lost under Bush. If you really believe both parties and their candidates are the same, you need to put away the medical marijuana. Because you’re tripping!

  50. Don says:

    darraugh,

You have it just about right. The situation is as bad as it might get, but there is hope. Could you have ever imagined that we’d be communicating like this when Bush was first installed? Think Progress, DailyKos and other sites, and organizations like MoveOn and TrueMajority will have more influence as time goes on. There may be new ventures that we haven’t even heard of. The whole field of Congressional accountability cries out for better technology, to enable the people to again have representation WITH taxation. Have hope.

  51. My Take on it says:

God Bless you Al Gore. You da man. It’s nice to hear from a President with a conscience, and morals, and honesty, and the know-how to run a country.

  52. big papa says:

    Nancy L. #45

    Great post,

    Veeeeerrrrry illuminating!

    I hope EVERYBODY READS IT!

    Now to Al Gore,

I sure wish THIS Al Gore had showed up at the Florida recount in ‘00…

    But, better late than never…

    you go Al!

  53. Dools says:

The democrats will continue to lose until they define “conservatism” as the problem. I don’t know how many times I read that Alito ‘just’ came off as a “conservative.” Like we all fully accept today’s Moon molded “conservatism”(theocratic fascism) as an OK way to run the country. Look around you, can you see where it is taking us? Conservatism is the problem, it is their ideology. It is this cultish conservatism which is dragging the nation to hell.

They put their ideology way, way, way ahead of the constitution. When the nation saw Alito sit down in that oiled up chair, they should have been very afraid. They weren’t because they do NOT understand what conservatism is today.

    IT’S THE CONSERVATISM STUPID!!

Baptist minister, Dr. Bruce Prescott, posted this to his excellent blog. Quoting Dr. Prescott

Al Gore on Saving the Constitution
Common Dreams has posted the text of Al Gore’s speech “‘We the People’ Must Save Our Constitution.” Gore believes President Bush’s actions threaten the foundations of our democracy and has called for the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate unauthorized wiretapping of American citizens by the National Security Administration.

I gave a speech about Christians who believe that “Democracy is Heresy” to a group of prominent business and civic leaders in Oklahoma City last week. The reaction I received from some of them convinced me that there is little concern for democracy among some of the elites in our society. Their disdain for liberalism is greater than any conceivable threat that could be posed to democracy from the theocratic right.

I suspect that these same elites will discount anything that Gore says. America needs a conservative of conviction and integrity to issue a call to defend the constitution. We have a lot of conservatives with conviction and a few who have integrity, but none, so far, who have been willing to rise to the defense of the constitution.

In my view, nothing demonstrates the bankruptcy of conservative thought in America more than it’s willingness to achieve its goals by sacrificing the constitutional “checks and balances” that undergird our system of law.

Bush’s illegal wiretap program would not have prevented 9/11 if we had had it, because we did have it then and it didn’t:

    http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/011306Z.shtml

And you can forget the investigation into who leaked to the NYT. It turns out that old commie rag Popular Mechanics scooped the Times by three years on all of the technical aspects of the story in January, 2001:

    http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/defense/1281281.html

No national security argument. No legal-constitutional argument. No moral-ethical argument. No political argument. All they have left is smearing and bashing the messengers.

Now new questions arise. If Bush was running this secret domestic data mining operation from shortly after he took office, how much exactly did Bush know about 9/11 before it happened? Echelon is an international network used by many foreign intelligence agencies. All during that summer the intelligence agencies of Russia, Germany, France, Italy, and Israel kept sending urgent warning to us to no avail. The German BND sent a message reporting that Middle East terrorists were planning to hijack a commercial airplane and use it as a weapon against a target of symbolic importance.

Right Punch what good does it do how many jobs Clinton created when millions and millions of jobs have gone offshore.
And on top of that US companies taking advantage and freezing raises not even cost of living, half the wages,
no benefit or health insurance cost more with limits.
And just like people who loose their job loose their
health insurance and go without healthcare. People are going with healtcare who have limits.

And I am not going to trust someone who put in NAFTA and
one way trade wtih Communist China to rescue me. Like said

And I was talking to a man who has good job with company if I said you would know it and this plant has two plants

  56. Marie says:

    #36 Patel,
when you put it so succinctly and clearly, who could argue?

A person who starts wars he cannot win, with an army he does not have, with money he does not have, against the wishes of the people who elected him, against a people who had nothing to do with 9/11 and still dreams of invading yet another, only this time stronger, Muslim country.

Bush is, indeed, a deranged lunatic.

  57. RightPunch says:

“Right Punch what good does it do how many jobs Clinton created when millions and millions of jobs have gone offshore. darraugh”

You just argue my point. The problem is that Bush has reversed much of the job growth that Clinton implemented, yet you claim the candidates are the same.

If you look at the difference, Manufacturing Jobs were Up Under President Clinton. After losing 2.1 million manufacturing jobs between 1981 and 1992, the economy created 459,000 new manufacturing jobs between January 1993 and March 1998.

By contrast 2.6 million manufacturing jobs have been lost since President Bush took office.

So once again, I understand your concern, but your ‘belief’ that both parties are the same is not borne out by reality or history.

Are you sure you’re reading the numbers I’m posting?

  58. The Debtonator says:

I just saw this poll on the MSNBC website. Check out the results!

Do you believe President Bush’s actions justify impeachment? (208536 responses)

Yes, between the secret spying, the deceptions leading to war and more, there is plenty to justify putting him on trial. 86%

No, like any president, he has made a few missteps, but nothing approaching “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
    4%

No, the man has done absolutely nothing wrong. Impeachment would just be a political lynching.
    8%

    I don’t know. 2%

The “deranged sore loser” got more votes than George Bush in 2000. I’d say he has the floor whenever he decides to make a speech. He hasn’t made many, but they’ve all been damned good. So, sit down and take notes. This will be on the exam and it does count.

  61. The Debtonator says:

It is way past time for Democrats to dispense with the tepid, half-hearted, non-committal language when talking to Americans about why this scandal is so serious. Democrats, like Gore did today, must explain clearly to the country that bush is deliberately breaking the law and has vowed to continue to do so, and that he and his followers have literally embraced a theory of presidential power which claims that the permanent “war” we are fighting gives bush the power to break the law. As Gore put it:

“At present, we still have much to learn about the NSA’s domestic surveillance. What we do know about this pervasive wiretapping virtually compels the conclusion that the president of the United States has been breaking the law repeatedly and persistently.”

“Can it be true that any president really has such powers under our Constitution? If the answer is “yes” then under the theory by which these acts are committed, are there any acts that can on their face be prohibited? If the president has the inherent authority to eavesdrop, imprison citizens on his own declaration, kidnap and torture, then what can’t he do?”

That bush broke the law is crystal clear and easy to explain. Gore just did so with perfect clarity. That bush has vowed to continue breaking the law based on his belief that the Constitution gives him the power of law-breaking is something which most Americans will instinctively and viscerally reject – provided that this is explained to them clearly and unapologetically.

There was a previous president who claimed the right to break the law and the last image everyone remembers of him was waiving good-bye as he flew away from the White House in disgrace. These are not esoteric or abstract issues. There is no reason for Democrats to be afraid of standing up to bush on this issue.

bush got caught breaking the law and our country can’t tolerate that. It is that simple, and that was what Gore just expressed so powerfully.

  63. Ergie Earp says:

The bickering here is misplaced. I don’t care what Gore or Clinton or any other administration did. All have their faults and we can discuss NAFTA or other issues somewhere else.

The point here is that the constitution is being averted to the extent that conservatives and liberals will agree to take action to defend the constitution against usurpation of power by ANY executive administration.

If we don’t defend the separation of powers, our system of government is a farce. George Will has recently written that on the issue of unwarranted wire-tapping, the President should stand down. This cannot be a Republican versus Democrat argument. The Constitution must be preserved at all cost! If it takes investigation, impeachment, or civil unrest, or civil war, the Constitution must prevail.

The Congress and the Courts need to truely sit down an define what an “illegal enemy combatant” is.

    um not so fast….
have you seen bush’s signing statements? “nice law, but, see, I’m the preznit…and dick told me that don’t need to follow it…i may need to torture a few people….”

notice how his judicial nominees are supporters of the unitary executive?

no checks and balances…please read Mr. Gore’s speech.

The common understanding of this model is that when the Universe began it was infinitely dense, hot, and extremely small. As the saying goes.
you cant push a rope unless it frozen.

  69. darraugh says:

    joushdesstardi

I can remember like yesterday Clinton on TV announcing NAFTA. And I couldn’t believe thought that I was mis understanding it. And Tom Brokaw on NH primary said to the
candidates that Gore spent his last year as vp working on
NAFTA. So don’t think you are correct about old man bush
starting it. Then on another website a woman said Clinton
had other priorities. What is more important than someone’s
job without it you die. Clinto/gore are good old boys from
the South. And ever since the Civil War the republicans even
call themelves Demcorats because Lincoln was a republican.
Clinton even calls himself a republican Democrat.

It is bad enough that we have to have bush/chaney putting in
illegal War for whatever reason you want to say oil, war
president, since US war economy cover up for outsouricng for
really be in Depression with all jobs going offshore. But
killing, making murderes, taking limbs and afecting those
kind mentally for the rest of their lives. Like my neighbor
who was World War ll Pacific vet said yes is is bad but “not our’boy” and now can say girls That to me says it all.
And then outsourcing, CAFTA which say l7 million service jobs going offshore, malpractice so we can be then next victim in the doctor’s office, SS Reform and citizenship for
illegal aliens which Kennedy going with McCain really bush. And if this happens US companies lower wages and Americsan quit.
Then US companies say Americans don’t want jobs and hire illegal aliens for low or lower wages. Instead of US companies paying $1 an hour in Mexico or $1 a day in
China they will be paying it right here in US. And with those low wages there will be no SS. And as far as McCain
saying Americans don’t want the jobs they will take two
    or three of them.

But if that wasn’t enough we have the demorats against us
too. clinton/gore stabbed in the back unions, workers,
people on SS with NAFTA. They put in one way feasible
trade with Communist China who has slave wages and skins
alive cats and dogs. The products you are buying including
for your cats and dogs. 25 demroat reps voted for bankrtuptcy bill taking are only option including Stabenow,
Byrd, Conrad Nelson & Nelson And Biden and Bayh who want
to run in 2008. CAFTA Cantwell who running in 2006 Feinstien, Wyden, Moran. Then Kennedy in 2006 parnters
with McCain. And everyone of them did not tell the people
they were going to vote and be partners with bush who
always against us. In fact Kennedy has on website that he
is for American workers, sent me e-mail for unions and
for SS Fraud, Con Artist People in jail for less.
Vote of no confidence if vote against the people fire them.
We have no one to fight for us except Durbin has been.
And just like say NAFTA in Ohio is like putting up a red
flag for me to hear clinton, gore, hillary makes me
angry esp for people want to run gore for president after
worked on NAFTA last year of vp and destroyed people and
their families directly or indiredly. So if old man clinton
started it Clinton and gore started it own way or carried
it on. Like when said to accountant who does our taxes about
bush outsourcing. He said Clinton started it with NAFTA.
I want my father’s Democratic Party when men were men.
And let me tell you that union, Democrat is not rolling
over in his grave over this he is pounding the casket
with his fist. Or like my nephew said to me he didn’t
think my dad would be able to live in these times. I
know I can hardly. And I don’t like people who have
not gone through outsourcing or having US companies taking
advantage of it say run gore in 2008. What are you naive,
suit with stocks that you don’t care about other Americans
and America. Not everyone is a rocket scientist and this
was the way for them to provide for themsleves and their
family with dignity. I am so sorry you had to got through
losing your job because of ourtsourcing when it never should
have been that way and hope you are alright now. Whoever
gets to be presdient (not hillary/gor/bayh/biden) should
bring back the industries back, bring the 48 US welfare
agencies back from India, stop CAFTA, NAFTA, outsouring,
bankruptcy bill, malpractice, Artic Drilling etc. And
they should make it a law never be another Veit Nam or
Iraq War. And make law that no president can offshore
peopl’e jobs again Corproations over the people for
without jobs they die. Make it a contract that US jobs
stay in US not go offshore and in different parts of US.
Make the US goods very good quality with good customer
service to compete at reasonalbe prices. Even if the
govemenment has to own the companies for people have
to have jobs to exist. And those jobs Clinton made
what kind of jobs were they office, manufacturing,
good pay, low pay, union, non union, seasonal, part time.
For everyone of those jobs that went offshore thanks to
clinton/gore/bush/chaney were union, good paying, good
paying blue and white collar jobs. Not doing this for
ego but survival jobs, pensions, SS. And cannot believe
people be so coldhearted to run gore after he worked
on NAFTA and people had their jobs stolen by him and
    Clinton/bush chaney. Last I say.

    fa
or three after their jobs gone offshore.

First- I hope everyone was able to find a moment today to be thankful for Martin Luther King Jr.’s continuing gift of reason, that continues to inspire all who value the principles of respect for all people, and an unswerving belief in justice for all of us. The powerful combination of memorable quotations from MLK, and Al Gore’s amazing speech, made me cry, with regret, and with hope. I will be focusing on the hope, because I can literally FEEL something happening in our country. Yes, it is agonizingly slow, especially so for all those trained to a “NOW! DAMMIT!” lifestyle. Our favorite life enhancers are all geared towards being as fast as possible. Faster= Better! Slow=$$#@*&^!!! Just since 2004 I have seen amazing changes just in the amount of dialog and access to the real facts of stories the Right would prefer to silence. By the frenzied screams of denial by those poor, misguided, (or just plain stupid) Trolls, you cannot doubt that the liars cannot lie fast enough anymore. And they have told so many, that they are exposing themselves almost hourly. And that can only help us. A constant barrage of Republican horror stories, well, they can’t hide all of them. Our eyes are opening. So try to be patient (GRRRRR!) with our slower, but well intentioned friends. Once they SEE what is really going on, the rest is easy. People never have liked being scammed. And to be scammed by The President, no less. Well they love to wave President Clinton around to say OOHHH- that was BAD!! This BS should go over like a lead fart in a space suit. Bush IS the turd in the punch bowl. But now every one is able to see it. Like it, or not. And a special BRAVO! to all for rendering the trolls, uh… flacid, if you will, by your mature replies to their ravings. Good to see! Chins up! And smile, because they really hate that.

  71. house resolution 635 says:

the problem isn’t just nafta…..let’s face the fact that the economy has to be global…..the problem is that the usa would not stand up for the workers in the usa or the rest of the world to insure that a fair wage, safety and benefit package, and enviornmental/pollution controls exist in all countries of the world…

this is the problem…because if those same moral values that led to unions and fair play for workers existed for all workers, worldwide….

there would be no advantage in outsourcing jobs…

the us govt, by not insuring these things sided with ‘global’ corporations over the people

of the people, by the people and for the people…..

let’s go back to the beginning to see where we went wrong, eh?

Doesn’t going to court for a warrant, to wiretap, certain individuals, leave a paper-trail? Where as, by-passing the warrant, make it harder to find out who is being spied upon?
In a perfect world, wiretapping, would only be used to protect America. Since this is not a perfect world, then members of Congress, corporations, businesses, organizations, agencies or anyone who goes against Bushco, would be a candidate for wiretapping. Since this administration has no scruples, be afraid, BE VERY AFRAID!

  74. DonQuixote says:

The problem with this Country is it’s all talk and no action. Like what was said above lets go back,(1)The selling of America the Clinton Bush years. NAFTA,CAFTA,and the China Free Trade Agreement, which is now taking hold and destroying America. China thanks to the so called BEST and BRIGHTEST IN AMERICA’S TRADE AND GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES, is growing and will soon overtake America in the Global Economy.Through loopholes and other legislation, they have allowed both our Companies and the Chinese to profit on the backs of their workers. They Manufacturer by exploiting their workers, than sell back to U.S. families at a high profit, whose jobs they outsourced and who go into debt to maintain their families basic needs. What also scares me is our Military Equipment and Weapons are being made in other Countries,so we are fighting a War On Terror with material that could end at any time.Since we have closed a lot of our Manufacturing Facilities,we cannot sustain our Military who would be using obsolete Weapons and Material they can no longer get parts for.A final note on this subject”We will soon be the strongest THIRD WORLD MILITARY”,as our debt if being bought up by other Countries. What is most amazing is the generalization of the amount of jobs that are being acqired, WHAT TYPE OF JOBS? WHAT IS THE PAY AND BENEFITS VS THE COST OF LIVING IN AREAS THAT THEY ARE LOCATED? you may get a job a $6.00 per hour in an area of the Country where it cost’s $12.00 an hour to live.It appears that everything needed to live increases, but our income stays the same. Both Government and Cooperations, are trying to get rid of Social Security and into Private accounts through the BACK DOOR.Right now our Government is using money from Social Security, placing it into the General Fund. If it is against the Law to Steal from Pension funds to run a Company, than the Government is breaking the Law. Finally to what Bush calls our Guest Workers, has anybody reasoned that the so called Jobs that no American wants, are artifically low pay so Cooperations can use the Guest Workers who have no choice for their profits. We appear to be heading back to “Indentured Servitude”,and the late 19th Century where A FEW OWNED ALL THE WEALTH. “CLEAN HOUSE AND OUTLAW LOBBIEST”.Why should Governmental Workers be allowed Pay raises and other benefits, when the rest of the Country suffers. ” POWER CORRUPTS, ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY”.
