5 years ago today,

the White House issued a memorandum on the Standards of Official Conduct. “Everyone who enters into public service for the United States has a duty to the American people to maintain the highest standards of integrity in Government.” On a related note, Karl Rove is lecturing colleagues on how to use the issue of national security.

And who really wants the Rove/Bush/Abramamoff/Libby stench on them?
These guys are so out of touch. Stay at it Rovey. Your’s is a comin’ buddy boy.

  2. Gus, OBGYN, Gigolo, Lover says:

As a side note, my Republican friends (and I do have Republican friends/colleagues) have stopped communicating with my machine. They know the blogs I go to. They know I get updates from the Council for the National Interest.
They are afraid they are being “watched” because of me. They support Bush but also frequent other sites they don’t care for people to know about. They joke about it. But they’re serious.
This is all Rove needs to know about National Security. Bush supporters are afraid to communicate like they used to and won’t admit it. It will show at the polls for sure.

  3. David says:

    From the CNN link:
“The GOP’s progress during the last four decades is a stunning political achievement. But it is also a cautionary tale of what happens to a dominant party — in this case, the Democrat Party — when its thinking becomes ossified; when its energy begins to drain; when an entitlement mentality takes over; and when political power becomes an end in itself rather than a mean to achieve the common goal,” Rove told Republican National Committee …

Here’s hoping that “cautionary tale” plays out, and maybe even the rubes will see the truth, finally. Damn, this guy has a serious case of projection.

  4. beep52 says:

Rove: “Republicans have a post-9/11 view of the world. And Democrats have a pre-9/11 view of the world,” Rove told Republican activists.

No, Karl. I just don’t spend all my time obsessing and shitting my pants about it. It was tragic, yes. But I for one am not ready to sacrifice what was good about America because I’m scared. If the perpetrators of 9-11 wanted to destroy America, all you’ve done is join their ranks. Show some real courage. Focus on the real bastards and, in the meantime, do something patriotic. Obey the law.

  5. kindness says:

Yea. Rove came out and said to sell fear to win the 2006 elections.

I didn’t think it was gonna work in 2004. I was wrong. I hope people have caught on by now & don’t buy it.

I’ll be damned, if Osama does manage to pull of another bombing in the US, the republicans will still blame

    1) Democrats
    2) Bill Clinton (and Hillary)

  6. Gary Ruppert says:

Geez, if the Democrats just talk about Health Care and ignore the war again, they can win. Ha.

  7. toys says:

I was listening to c-span when he came on…As I listened to his cheerleading speech (dems are bad, they are good), I couldn’t decide which made me feel worse: listening to Rove’s dry wilted platitudes; or to the reception they got, even though I think the applause may have been prompted. Funny how he didn’t bring up the stock dropoff today? Did I mention that he didn’t really say anything?

Karl just kept on harping on how bad the liberals are, how they love to tax everything all the time (without mentioning the huge deficit we now have thanks to them repubs, and the Iraq war isn’t even on the books).

So what can liberals do to show they are tough enough to handle running the country? I think that the only thing strong enough would be for the liberals to arrange to bomb something in the US. Now that would be tough, Jack!

Harry Shearer did a funny skit with Nixon wanting to bomb his own library to show how tough he was. Anyone else hear that?

Good governments never do this type of thing. Do we have a good government?

  8. RightPunch says:

The republican tactic is to put every piece of crap in the blender they can, with the lid off, and watch everyone duck from the sheer volume of lies, criminality and corruption. Gary Ruppert demostrates this with is post. Frankly there are so many problems with republican leadership, and so many failures – it’s hard for most americans to actually comprehend the overload of information. And then the republican spin machine just ‘lies’ and says that it’s just another ‘opinion’, as though facts can be opinions.

What’s important to understand is that folks like Gary Ruppert are criminally inclined, because fear causes people to disregard the part of their brain that sets boundaries, limits and morals. It’s why those who claim to be religious will support a war or the death penalty and not remove corruption. Because they fear some trumped up cause, or belief of doom if they don’t comply. They’re easily manipulated through that fear, and we must remember to feel sorry for the Gary’s of the world, and not to hate them. They’re just weak of mind, will and spirit, and therefore they are easily deceived and manipulated by their own base immorality and selfish instincts.

I’m sure Gary isn’t a bad person, but he’s easily tempted to do bad things because of his fear. Gary, I forgive you for being an emotional coward – I know how hard it must be for naturally weak people like yourself to live in a modern world. Clearly you aren’t well suited to this modern lifestyle and related complexities. Don’t worry, we’ll help protect you from the terrorists and from yourself.

Real Texas Republicans like privacy. That’s why we have fences and shot guns. Rove and Co. got another thing comin’ in 2006, 2008.

  13. Theresa says:

#4, I am constantly reminded of this quote from Lincoln when I hear of terrorists, et al, destroying America:

“No man is good enough to govern another man without the other’s consent… These United States of American can never be destroyed from forces outside its borders. If America falls, it will fall from within. Bought down by apathy. When good people do nothing, Anarcy reigns”. – Abraham Lincoln in an 1854 letter to Congress

cynical, “I suppose the election will be a debate of “I will kill more people than you will.””

Good. Patriotic Americans want to kill as many terrorists as possible. The more the better.

    Comment by RightPunch — January 20, 2006 @ 6:12 pm

IRI, actually I’m straight, I’ve been married (to a woman) for a while now. Do you not understand that by posting continually hate-filled nonsense you are probably inspiring moderate conservatives away from your cause? Look at how moderate cons have turned against Ann Coulter.

I do not and nor does anyone I know, seek power over America – those of us who know the difference between Republicans and Democrats seek friendship with the (mostly) good people of America.

You are the reason America is hated all over the world. Your narrow-minded fascism will be America’s undoing. I do not want to see this happen. Remember, the world is greater than America.

IRI, I repeat, 7/9 fouding fathers were liberals: fascists are un-American. Republicans cause wars which endanger American lives: Republicans are un-American. Conservatives are selfish, social Darwinists who endanger the poor: Conservatives are un-American.

I was born in Britain, raised in Britain, educated in Britain, married in Britain, have lived all over Britain and am writing this from Britain.

I am more American than IRI and his ilk.

  19. mparker says:

Thanks Therese for the Lincoln quote. I have one one for you in return that I have taped to my desk at work.

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”

    – Marcus Tullius Cicero, 42 B.C.

    MURDERED DEC. 7. 43 B.C.

    History has indeed repeated itself.

  20. mparker says:

Gary Ruppert gets a free happy meal every time he posts his bullshit. The housing and stock market have already started the slide Gary. Soon, no fries for you.

  21. USA Patriot says:

“But it cannot survive treason from within. ”

Yes. Therefore, people like Michael Moore, Howard Dean, and Ted Kennedy must be opposed and defeated.

  22. mparker says:

    PHONY USA patriot…

That’s TREASON from within Government you stupid fuck. No happy meal for you either. It’s really great to the see the extent you can bend over backwards to force a misunderstanding of what is plainly written you grasping fool.

Treason would be outing a cia operative in wartime or giving aid and comfort to those who do – which sounds like you.

Are you happy with the fundamentalist theocracy your tax dollars have financed? The one in Iraq, I mean.

Rove is giving the lesson because King ‘George’, lets just call him Yellow hat, as in the book curious george, is mad at him for spilling the beans.

Rove as anyone here has noticed, has become not boy genius, but boy strawman inflator. Rove is also a repeater of words. Neo-kooks once had people believing that, today however people see rove as a fool, and a dupe. Not even worth worryong about, for his lying ass will, and it always does, catch up to his lying ass.

Who cares about Rove? Not me, he was “ejected”, if you will, from the credibility sphere long ago.

Blimpy traitor Rove is such an ass****. For him to stand in front of the RNC and say that the Democrats used smear tactics against Sam Alito is the ultimate hypocracy. Blimpy traitor Rove ONLY uses smear tactics – he is the master of smear tactics. Strange how the neocons don’t like when someone uses their tactics against them. Their all a bunch of traitors to the Constitution.

  30. cats are flyfishn says:

    #2 – Gus,

Maybe your Republican friends will be too afraid to come out to the polls in November. That would be great if they stayed at home. Funny, that Bush&Co supporters are afraid of being watched. Since they won’t contact you, then they are cowards. What a shame. Bush&Co supporters are always mouthing off about Democrats being “soft” when actually they are nothing but “Yellow Elephants”.

    9/11 Commission
The White House has failed to enact several recomendations that, in a post 9/11 USA, would, could, and should keep us safer.

    But Nooooo.
Instead they(sic) spin Tortured Tales of Terrorism and defend their mistreatment and abuse of the Bill of Righrts and our Constitution as a means of National Security.

Just because his cronies say its so does not make it so. Just because the president says it is for our own good does not necessarily make it so. Like they say, “Stupid is as stupid does”.

I say, let the Judiciary Branch decide what side of the line our president walks on. If the Judiciary decides that, yes, the president is capable and entitled to opperate above the law as he sees fit and how he choses,

    Then I’ll say, “HAIL CAESAR

Let’s hope that means they’ll all stay home on election day…

Taking back the House and Senate is crucial if we’re ever going to have some accountability for the crimes in this criminal Bushite junta…

The first thing that should happen is all assets of Bushites, and their right wing corporate donors and supporters should be frozen…just like they did to the Islamic organizations…

  36. big papa says:

    they can win. Ha.

    Scary Pookbutt,

I’m going to ask this question once again of a right wing inbred…

    What exactly have YOU won?

  37. Paul in Mexico says:

The democrats have to jump on the roverboy comments with all fours.

He stated that the pukes are going to run on the war on terror, and cutting taxes. The war on terror? We might not have had one if Bush had been awake. Cutting taxes? The US is the worlds largest debtor nation, and, the domestic deficits, to include trade, are approaching 1 trillion, and they want to give the rich more money in their pockets.?

DHe also stated that the pukes handled all matters better than the dems. Oh yeah, how about the war on terror, going great is it not? How about energy prices, great again. Lowering the deficits, just great. Medicare, how great it is! Workers wages, right there at the top, right? Corruption in government, why we now have the cleanest government we ever had. Oh God pukes, please wake up and pee pee, the world is on fire.

I just sent this little letter to my local news stations. Probably a vein attempt, but who knows. It just takes one to get a snowball rolling. Right?

Dear editors and to whom this may concern,

Recently, the President of the United States of America has come under fire for the revelation of his approved domestic spy program.

However, little is known of the Domestic spy Hearings that were convened on Friday Jan. 20, 2006. These hearings deserve coverage. Yet, not one station has bothered to address the elephant in the room. Why is this?

Currently, our President of the United States of America is under threat of Impeachment and the media is failing to cover this important issue.

I implore that someone, be it a local journalist, editor, or newscaster, deliver to its public the news of events that are occurring in our White House.

Complicity in the current state of silence, that is pervasive in the media, is shaping how your viewer base will see your legitimacy as a newsworthy source in future events.

    Sincerly,
    A concerned viewer and American
