The reports on theft, waste and mismanagement of American taxpayer dollars and Saddam’s confiscated fortune are astounding and confounding. The american and iraqi people are being robbed at gunpoint, in the sight of the entire world, in broad daylight!
What is it going to take for the people to rise up and say ENOUGH already?
The NYT article from jan 25th “Audit Describes Misuse of Funds in Iraqi Projects” is infuriating! soldiers gambling away btwn $20-60,000, millions shrink wrapped and placed in footlockers, millions dispersed without receipts or oversight…
What the hell is going on with BRAINDEAD AMERICA?
That’s exactly why I say freeze ALL of the assets of the President on down to the colonels, majors and non-coms when the Dems take back the reins of power…
They cannot be allowed to abscond with their ill-gotten gains!
Yet congress has passed bills that you CANNOT sue the War Profiteers.
I would like the American Public to look at this Picture of Bushs’ Democracy thru Lies of WMD, Look at how many died and will die thanks to Bush and his warped gang of racists, his Cabal have done. The Situation in Iraq, Yet Buschco Plans to create more Death and Poverty and Racism than Osama, and Saddam put together ever could, Bush may even exceed Stalins record for Death if hes not stopped.
Iraq reconstruction is only a sign of what this administration is capable of delivering in totality. If this is how the administration attepts to build up what was destroyed, I fear that N.O. will see a similar fate.
Our bureaucratic state of Interational Affairs reflects our bureaucratic Nationalistic attitudes towards governing as a whole.
The SIGIR reports since 2003 have discussed this issue in detail. When the CPA did its first review, the #of projects was scaled back and in 2004 and 2005, the security cost issue caused more projects to be deferred.
The Section 2207 reports have been timely filed since 2003 by the SIGIR,the DoD,the State Dept. and USAID,the GAO has issued reports about the security cost issues as well. Not to mention the problems with electricity, oil production, contract security fighting US troops.
Why does the NYT insist on delaying these stories? I guess I’ve gotten used to the idea that nobody listens.
This will no doubt do a lot to win hearts and minds and demonstrate to all America’s might and will to do right when we go it alone. Another heckofajob.
Back then, “staying the course” meant helping Iraqis “rebuild their lives” and included “help the national government in Baghdad revitalize Iraq’s infrastructure and economy.” What ever happened to that?
Oh, I thought it was the number of days he actually showed up for National Guard duty out of the number of weeks he was bound by law to finish.

January 27th, 2006 at 9:02 amI guess BUSH is taking a page from the HITLER playbook!!!
LEAD with ABSOLUTE authority, DESTROY the DEMOCRATIC system of Gov’t, APPOINT only LOYAL friends in key positions, and ROB the country BLIND…
If EVER there was a more similar form of Gov’t…IT is becoming a reality…

I don’t think that it’s fair to hold President Bush accountable for the promises he makes.
He promised to balance the budget: hasn’t done it, hasn’t tried.
He promised he’d restore ‘honorism and dignitude’ to the White House: more lies have come out and more corruption than any other administration.
He promised to ‘fix’ the military: all reports and the majority of Generals say it’s close to ‘breaking’.
He promised that he’s ‘protect the Constitution of the US’: The head of the NSA says he’s breaking the law.
Nope, it’s not fair to expect that Pres. Bush will do anything he says he’ll do.

January 27th, 2006 at 12:14 pmI’ll be the first to say it:
Close enough for government work.
January 27th, 2006 at 12:35 pmYou mean, giving a speech and doing a photo-op isn’t enough to satisfy you American-hating liberals?
January 27th, 2006 at 3:30 pmthanks to Bush and Blair the Iraqis will remain in it up to their necks too.
January 27th, 2006 at 6:39 pmWhatever happened to the “we’ll stay the course, we’ll finish the job” talking point that was so often repeated? I don’t hear it as much anymore.
Back then, “staying the course” meant helping Iraqis “rebuild their lives” and included “help the national government in Baghdad revitalize Iraq’s infrastructure and economy.” What ever happened to that?
Also back then, the strategy for victory in Iraq was not to “cut and run in the face of adversity”, and to stay “as long as necessary to complete the mission”
So many talking points, so little time…
