The Colbear Repore is a parody of the O’Reilly Factor. Satire and parody are not easy for many to grasp, because the targets themselves are usually over the top.
you really have to give it to a guy who gets on TV and spouts Reich-wing talking points and makes himself look like an @ss in front of the whole nation…oh that Bushie.
Tony W,
I would vote, Stephen Colbert along with Jon Stewart are the most needed comedians at this point and time. They help me laugh about stuff that just drives me absolutely bonkers.
The show is still working out the bugs… but Colbert will do a better job than Lewis Black, who is good, great even, but wrong for that venue. Colbert will bring the house down if he’s in the zone, in the groove and keeps on point. Was it Don Imus who bombed out a few years back when he did it during the Clinton Admin?
So, Jon Stewart gets the Oscars, and Stephen Colbert gets the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Way to go, Comedy Central! It just goes to show how far a little fake news can get you.
Hmmm…Jon Stewart for President, Stephen Colbert for Veep?
#26 “In fact, bring me two horses.” Yes, thanks to The Daily Show. Jon did a bit on that a while back, and I think that it was Samantha Bee doing Laura’s voice.
I never knew that Colbert was doing a parody of O’Reilly, because… I never watch O’Reilly. I’m surprised that anyone actually does. Usually when you identify a bad source of information, you stop using it.
I must say that I was one of those people. however, I came to a different conclusion after I watched the whole thing. I found his reichwing talking points to be in sarcasim, yet, there to prove one point: the talking point he is using sounds rediculous when used in an argument.
especially when its used in an argument that does not contain the words “shut up”
I love Colbert! Watch it everynight….it amazes me that the writers came up with a marketing plan that can captivate 100% of the US audience….50% of us who get it and know it is satire….plus the other 50% who think he is one of “them”…Brilliant! If I was a bear, I’d be very scared….
Sweet. A big, hot spurt of truthiness coming our way.
January 27th, 2006 at 2:04 pmAnd all the “real” reporters will be trying to get his autograph. Ironic?
January 27th, 2006 at 2:08 pmBravo!….Blessings
January 27th, 2006 at 2:08 pmBut will they screen the audience for BEARS!?
January 27th, 2006 at 2:11 pmThat would be huge. Hope he doesn’t wimp out & get polite w/ the bushco officials or other “neutral” press people.
January 27th, 2006 at 2:13 pmColbert does a better O’Reilly than O’Reilly does :)
That’s what happens when a talented comedian does a faux show, versus an untalented comedian wannabe does a fox show.
Colbert, you go!
January 27th, 2006 at 2:14 pmA comedian has to set them straight. I hope he is merciless.
January 27th, 2006 at 2:15 pmColbert should go on “Hardball” and do to Chris Matthews what Jon Stewart did to Tucker Carlson on “Crossfire” last year. More on that thought here:

And comedy isn’t pretty.

Stephen Colbert is by far the best.
I love how he plays devil’s advocate will all his guests by taking up riecht wing talking points and defending them.
beware of bears.
January 27th, 2006 at 2:27 pmI love John Stewart but Steven Colbert is just as talented.
January 27th, 2006 at 2:28 pmwhoa, the whole show is a parody? hymmmmm…
I guess-to a degree it is.
I mean, Colbert isn’t exactly telling people to shut up, but I see some direct satirization going on.
the stephen v conan skit was pretty much a parody hands down and I thought that was what we were talking about spesifically.
January 27th, 2006 at 2:31 pmColbert..Great comedian? or greatest comedian???
January 27th, 2006 at 2:34 pmyou really have to give it to a guy who gets on TV and spouts Reich-wing talking points and makes himself look like an @ss in front of the whole nation…oh that Bushie.

Something tells me that they don’t get that he is satire… This should be amusing.

January 27th, 2006 at 3:13 pmWasn’t this the dinner where Laura “Pickles” Bush made jokes about W performing sex acts with a horse?

January 27th, 2006 at 3:29 pmthe funny part is,the sheep don’t realize that Colbert is MAKING FUN OF THE O’RELIEYS of the world! This should be good.
January 27th, 2006 at 3:35 pmThe first week,”The Colbert Report” premiered a few trolls here actually thought it was a Right wing counter to “The Daily Show”.
January 27th, 2006 at 3:43 pm#27 Now I know what pics they are really afraid of, george showing Jack how to milk a horse.
January 27th, 2006 at 4:04 pmLook out Washington. Your about to be penetrated with a great big Washington Monument sized shaft of truthiness!
January 27th, 2006 at 4:41 pmHow many will observe that he is the satirical spoof of Bill O’Reilly? You’d have to be in touch with the nation’s people in order to get it.
January 27th, 2006 at 4:43 pm25- You had to go and bring him up, didn’t you. I was enjoying the hiatus, but that should bring him/her/it back any minute now.
January 27th, 2006 at 5:18 pmAnd it couldn’t happen to a more trustigious guy.
January 27th, 2006 at 5:20 pmYou know what it is right?
The repubs are so thick, they think the opposition role Colbert plays on his show and in his skits, is for real.
They think hes one of the them LOL.
January 27th, 2006 at 6:00 pmWait till he makes them jump down, turn around and pick a bail of truth.
January 27th, 2006 at 6:01 pm#22 Jane, While we’re at it, how about Keith Olbermann as Secretary of State?
By the way, today is Keith’s Olbermann’s birthday. He’s 47 today.

January 28th, 2006 at 4:59 pmHaha! OMG, I can’t believe people seriously thought he was a for-real Bill O’Reilly type! That is too funny.
January 29th, 2006 at 8:43 pmI love Colbert!
