I think the unemployment number is low because people are out of work so long, they are not counted any more – their checks ran out. Tell people who are facing heating bills of hundreds of dollars, and medical fees that have doubled, and insurance premiums that have skyrocketed that inflation is in check. No attack on Americn soil for 4 years — well we didn’t have one in 8 years in the 1990’s. The WTC truck bomb occurrred in early 1993, and the perps were captured and jailed, where they are today. (And THAT president didn’t blame the recently departed president for the incident.)
Hundreds of thousands of people today are either unemployed or underemployed. I don’t think the future looks bright when we cannot compete in the world, when jobs are outsourced, when education is underfunded, when tech skills are imported. I hope you have a productive meeting where you aren’t handed a pink slip of your own.

randy! checkmate is easy to bellow when you have the black and white pieces, buddy. while the total number of jobs may have increased, the net number of jobs created is still in decline. the majority leadership has had the unfortunate ability of turning an actual budget surplus into the largest deficit in our country’s history, and healthcare is costing the most to those who are most in need of it. our global political capital and respect has squandered in a matter of months.

this is not progress and this is not leadership. so pardon us if we enjoy a hearty chuckle this evening, because we refuse to accept the current state of our union as the dawn of a new golden age where what we have today is not only good enough, but enough to be applauded.
