Not to mention that Iran is the worlds fourth largest producer of oil. You know that stuff that the American people are addicted to. The president of Iran said “You need us more than we need you.” With Americans driving big gas guzzling SUVs, I would have to tend to agree.
Also, just how many Arabs do we have to piss off before there is truly a third world war?

Something that doesn’t seem to be getting a lot of MSM coverage is the fact that Iran intends on switching over to the Euro, in March 2006, as a trade currency for their oil sales…
It goes like this:
1. oil priced in Euros -> world starts buying Euros to buy oil and sells dollars to do so
2. World stops loaning money to Americans to buy pieces of plastic shit from China, and to buy pizzas and houses from each other
3. Dollar drops like a brick
4. Interest rates skyrocket, credit card rates go with them
5. House price bubble bursts, Americans walk away from houses, credit cards, declare bankruptcy but with new handy-dandy credit laws from Chimpy find themselves in a spot of legal bother
6. US economy, currently propped up by free-spending Americans, swirls, once, twice and then disappears down the toilet
6. Welcome, once again, to the 1930s
Bottom line–Iran has done NOTHING ILLEGAL. Which is more than we can say about War Criminal Bush and his Israeli friends (who have nuclear weapons). Iran hasn’t attacked anyone, but come to think of it, the U.S. has, but referral to the U.N.? Not for God’s chosen race.
Sooner the better, The Islamic regime needs to to get it right. The Islamo fascist in Iran have been Brutilizing the Iranians for 26 years , Now the tables are begining to turn, The sooner the nuclear facilities in Iran are destroyed the better The world will be.
Nuclear energy for Iran “YES”, not under the Islamic Regime.
Reza,
Well, aren’t we being a little judgmental here? Any other governments you don’t like in this world of ours? A little bigoted toward Muslims, aren’t we? Sure, you’re an approved neocon fascist. Nothing to worry about. Your phone calls won’t be bugged.
What is the UN Security Council actually going to do? First, doesn’t China and Russia sit on the council? If so, we all know, their first consideration is themselves. Both have made deals with Iran for oil. Are they going to jeopardize their oil agreements with Iran? Especially China, who will eventually consume 80% of the world’s oil, and the rest of us will have to fight over the other 20%.
#20 nancy, you may be right. If the US has to ‘buy’ the Russian and Chinese abstension, it may be pricy. The key is what possibly can the Russians and Chinese have in common with the US position. I notice that blackmail on the nuclear energy deal for India was the approach there.
#18, so Reza, you sound like you know a it about Iran, do think bombing Iran will unite Iranians in a national response or start an internal struggle to overthrow the current government? How long do think it will take to close the Straits of Hormuz, cutting off 30% of the oil supply and turn Southern Iraq into a bloodbath? Do you think this is a smart move on Chimpy’s part or not?
When all is said and done, the end result with Iran,(or any other country) is going to be what all the parties involved, have for hidden agendas. We aren’t ever going to know the truth about any of it, unless it’s 20 yrs down the road. Again, it’s a game of power and corruption, but on a world-wide scale. Who’s going to scratch who’s back and for what, is the question. Sadly, there are no noble causes here. Iran will be painted as black or as white, as the people who have control want Iran to look. Information and news will be scripted and manipulated. There will be secret meetings, between enemies and allies, and the only losers are going to be the people of the world.
Spudge,
Ain’t that money that we spent in Walmart you’re talking about? So we’re going to buy off China, with money we borrowed from them (kiting), that they got from Walmart and Dell Computer, so that we can nuke China’s main oil supplier–damn, it’s not easy being a war criminal any more.
Nancy L.,
Oh, there’s not too much hidden about us and Iran. We’ve been meddling in their affairs for fifty years, overthrowing their government, supporting the repressive Shah, supporting Iraq’s invasion of Iran–they’ve got ample reason to hate us.
Another report I read said the passports were used to enter Iran. I guess we will hear about some ‘evidence of nuclear activity’ soon.
The German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) has provided the Mossad espionage agency with German passports used for carrying out missions in the Middle East, the German newspaper Koelner Stadtanzeiger reported Saturday.
The paper quoted a former senior official in the German intelligence service as saying that Mossad agents used German passports for undercover operations in Middle Eastern countries, which he did not name.
Ain’t that money that we spent in Walmart you’re talking about?
Don,
Only if that “we” is you and a mouse in your pocket. I can proudly say that I have never given one dime to Walmart.
But, you are correct in everything else in your post. The Globalization of the Earth is not a good thing. America is now the country of the underfunded and undereducated. We are the lowest of the rung when it comes to graduating math, science and computer experts. We used to be the leader. Why are we falling behind?

#35, big papa, I agree however I think Russia is not only posturing but also punitively punishing Iran for supporting Georgia. Iran has started supplying Georgia with natural gas following an appeal by Tbilisi after Russia cut their methane supplies. check out antiwar.com for details. Russia and China will ultimately vote in their own economic interests just like every country does.
Again, it bears repeating, IRAN HAS DONE NOTHING ILLEGAL. IRAN IS A SIGNATORY TO, AND IN FULL COMPLIANCE WITH, THE NUCLEAR NON-PROLIFERATION TREATY. (Which is directly opposite of Israeli conduct.)
I see that The Bush Admin is now speaking about IRANS nuclear program, BUSH will BE using that Tonight at his PROP campaign, or SOTU address,
where did the IRANIAN intelligence come from?
so far the IAEA has agreed with it as nuclear secrets weret was sold on the ‘Black Market’ and hasnt denied the Origins, or the Validity of the Material found on the laptop; http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060131/ap_on_re_mi_ea/nuclear_agency_iran
Separately, U.S. intelligence — revealed last year, based on information found on a laptop computer reportedly smuggled out of Iran — suggested that Tehran’s scientists were working on details of nuclear weapons, including missile trajectories and ideal altitudes for exploding warheads.
The diplomats said the United States recently declassified the information and passed it on to the IAEA, which, in turn, forwarded it to Iran and asked for an explanation. Washington’s cooperation with the agency was part of its attempt to prove that Iran was interested in making weapons, said one of the diplomats who is familiar with the IAEA investigation.
The developments were revealed just hours after a surprising agreement by the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council to advise that Iran be hauled before the powerful body over its disputed nuclear program.
The group agreed that the IAEA “should report to the Security Council its decision on the steps required of Iran, and should also report to the Security Council all IAEA reports and resolutions as adopted relating to this issue.”
China and Russia, longtime allies and trading partners of Iran, agreed to a statement that calls on the IAEA to transfer the Iran dossier to the Security Council — the start of a protracted process that could end in sanctions for Tehran.
The IAEA’s 35-nation board meets in Vienna on Thursday. Diplomats accredited to the agency said that with opinion leaders Russia and China on board, most — maybe all — of the board nations would likely approve Security Council involvement. Past referral attempts had run into stiff opposition from some influential board members.
1- Shouldn’t we be concerned with the “nuclear black market†(whatever that is), and;
2- We don’t like Iran having plans for a nuclear weapon, but it’s OK that the Associated Press has a copy of it.

U.N.: Iran Has Used Plutonium for Years
Wednesday, June 15, 2005
IAEA: N. Korea Could Make Five or Six Nukes
VIENNA, Austria — Iran (search) has acknowledged it worked with small amounts of plutonium, a possible nuclear arms component, years longer than it previously admitted, according to a confidential U.N. report made available Wednesday to The Associated Press.
The report, which could be delivered as early as Thursday to a board meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (search), also said Tehran received sensitive technology that can be used as part of a weapons program earlier than it originally said.Marked “highly confidential,” the report to the IAEA was made available by a diplomat accredited to the agency who demanded anonymity because he is not authorized to release such information to the media.
Re: The purloined laptop (obtained by unknown US intelligence sources)
New York Times reporters William J. Broad and David E. Sanger repeatedly characterize the contents of computer files as containing information about a nuclear warhead design when the information actually describes a reentry vehicle for a missile. This distinction is not minor, and Broad should understand the difference between the two objects, particularly when the information does not contain any words such as nuclear or nuclear warhead.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said: “The baseless claim made us laugh. We do not use laptops to keep our classified documents.”
