With 60 Percent Disapproval, DeLay Says Constituents Are ‘Very, Very Supportive’

In an interview to be aired tonight on “Hardball with Chris Matthews,” Tom DeLay tells Chris that his constituents are “very, very supportive” of his candidacy. “They know what Ronnie Earle is — a runaway district attorney who is abusing his power, indicting me on laws that don’t exist,” DeLay said. “The backlash is in my favor.”

A recent Houston Chronicle poll tells a different story. DeLay is in political hot water:

A criminal indictment and continuing investigations have severely eroded support for U.S. Rep Tom DeLay in his district… Only half of those who cast ballots for DeLay in 2004 said they will do so again. And while a fourth of the 2004 DeLay voters still aren’t sure whom they will vote for this year, almost 20 percent have defected to other candidates […]

DeLay may be able to win back the undecided voters, but he starts with the disadvantage of a 60 percent unfavorable rating in the district he has represented for 20 years. Only 28 percent view him favorably, according to the poll.

You have to hand it to DeLay. He sure is an optimist.

I think that whatever Delay’s using to slick his hair down must be causing brain damage.

  2. For Truth says:

Does this even deserve a comment, Ok. Analogy: Drinks think everyone drinks because a drunk surrounds himself with other drunks.

  3. Flamethrower says:

Being the Hardballer that he is, I’m sure Chris asked him how he justified that statement.

When someone in the media is sucking DeLay off in public, on the teevee, you know they lost their independence.

  4. suzanne says:

When will the lying stop? When will this immoral Republican con game be broken? God help us all. The administration has brilliantly channeled our anger at our fellow citizens…red against blue. They have propped up one side, fed their egos and told them to attack us, the other side. It has worked. All of us should be looking at them, attacking them, not each other. We are in dark times and the way out is to unite as Americans and cut out the Cancer of the current administration and it’s slaves in Congress and the Senate

  5. True Blue says:

Chris Matthews, that sleazebag, will definately be playing “Softball” with Delay.

Even the promos for the show spin in favor of Delay.

  6. Democrat Soldier says:

I just hope that Rep. DeLay keeps getting the type of “support” over which he is so happy. I guess his “Phants” are really sick-o-Phants (sycophants), and he’s drinking his own kool-aid.

If he keeps his 60% disapproval “support” then we can look forward to a new Representative from Texas!

Hammer the “hammer” with the truth, and eventually he will have to recognize his lies!

  7. For Truth says:

Don’t be too surprised if Delay gets voted back in. The money, power, and greed always win these days. Delay will promise something to add some more “sugar” to Sugarland voters’ pocketbooks.

  8. For Truth says:

60% is too close for an electronic voting machine to tell the difference.

  9. Wayne A. Schneider says:

I think that whatever Delay’s using to slick his hair down must be causing brain damage.

Maybe it’s DDT and the supply he stashed when it got banned is running out. Maybe that’s the real reason he ran for Congress to get the ban lifted – so he could use it on his hair.

And he must be an optimist. We watched that horrendous Rita Cosby interview with him and nothing she asked him (like, “Is this the saddest day of your life?” “Have you ever felt so sad?” “Do you feel really down right now?”) could wipe that stupid grin off his face. Not even posing for a mug shot.

He must not understand what is happening to be so eternally optimistic. Maybe what they say is true: Ignorance really is bliss.

  10. Democrat Soldier says:

    #8 – Actually, I’m afraid you’re right.

After having lived in Texas, I can now believe the joke:
Did you hear that when Pres. Bush moved from Austin to Crawford that he raised the average IQ of both cities?

How else can Matthews brother get the backing of the Pennsylvania GOP machine in his bid for LT. GOV.

  12. True Blue says:

Delay is the hypocrite who toasted corporations in Saipan for being a shining light of the American Way, or some such nonsense.
These people take Asian women and FORCE them into prostitution AND abortions if they become pregnant….
so that they can have slave labor AND the “Made in America” tag on their clothing.
    SICK, SICK, SICK!

  13. unbelievable says:

It’s back to that 20-something percent of people who will, I am convinced, elect a toaster for office if someone told them it was anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage…

  14. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    #13 Too true, True Blue!

And he made that toast several years ago and DeLay and the Republican party have still managed to keep Saipan free of US labor laws. “Sick” is about the best word to describe DeLay.

  15. True Blue says:

    #14,
That’s so scary, because I live in MA, and gay marriage has NOT been a big deal. We’re not going to Hell in a handbasket. (The COUNTRY is, but that’s another thread!)
It does not affect anyone’s day to day life, except for those gay couples who finally have the same rights as hetero’s.
    I don’t get the tirade.

  17. mr ho says:

    Listen to this what Bush Said;

However, in excerpts from an interview conducted with CBS News last week and broadcast today, Mr Bush stressed that the US authorities had investigated the abuse and brought those responsible to account.

“There’s no question, the Abu Ghraib pictures not only … we were disgraced,” Mr Bush said in response to a question about America’s image overseas.

“I know it caused a lot of people who want to like us to question whether they should,” Mr Bush said, adding that “equally importantly it gave the enemy an incredible propaganda tool”

“That’s why it was important for us to investigate, to expose, to hold people to account, so people see there was a consequence for the behaviour,” Mr Bush said.

Can you BELIEVE the sheer Hypocrisy of this Statement?
Bush and Cheney Hid the Renditions, and the torture, in Abu Ghraib that was likely part of that same ‘Rendition’.

Bush says WE as IF all Americans are Digraced, yes I am, But THE AMERICAN people have nothing to do with it.
Mr Bush goes unbelievably, even further, and says “to Investigate and hold account, to let people see the consequences of their behavior”

Yet Mr Bush and cheneys secret Rendition, and torture that Bush Speaks of, hes talking about HIMSELF and his Administration and his Rendition programs that are the cause of the problem yet he Doesnt see hes THE PROBLEM?

The truth is one thing and the media ia another. As long as there is a media full of liars who keep repeating the same lies over and over and give liars a podium to keep repeating ttheir lies….well, that’s the method, repeat some simple line over and over again and in the publics mind it becomes the truth. Frankly, it is a general public that has lost the ability to frame or follow a simple logical argument to a conclusion. Too much lead in the atmosphere, too much arsenic in the drinking water, not enough money spent on the educational system. America is doomed!

  25. For Truth says:

“There are no American infidels in Baghdad. Never!”

“My feelings – as usual – we will slaughter them all”

“Our initial assessment is that they will all die”

“I blame Al-Jazeera – they are marketing for the Americans!”

“God will roast their stomachs in hell at the hands of Iraqis.”

“They’re coming to surrender or be burned in their tanks.”

The Democrats are hapless and hopeless, and I hope Dean breaks away and forms a third People’s Progressive Party…

Way to track them GOP talking points, Giacomo – to the letter. I’m impressed how well you stay on-message. Ever have original thoughts – y’know from your own brain?

  46. Blue County in a Red state says:

#43 – Exactly. Kerry’s speech today pretty much said that. So what’s the point. The Dems seem unable to mount any type of offensive. It’s getting very frustrating. BushCo seems to be able to put lipstick on every pig that pops up. Reminds me of the game at Chucky Cheese with the gophers (or whatever) popping up. But instead of the Dems hitting them with the mallet the RePugs are putting lipstick on them and letting them go their merry way ;-(

  47. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    #43 Giacomo,

I don’t put very much credence in polls like that. Because how likely is it that the 1006 people polled for that CNN poll understood the issues thoroughly? Probably not many so it, like most other polls, is a useless query of ill-informed people.

I also will not accept the idea that there is a “margin of error” of only about 3% on a poll of just over a thousand people to gage the feelings of more than a quarter billion people. Most people do not pay nearly as much attention to the issues as people like us (and I include you in that, Giacomo, because I know that you pay attention. I think you get distracted sometimes, and maybe that’s why you have the views you have, but I know you pay attention.)

Now, if they are willing to educate the perspective pollee a little before asking questions like this, then maybe the results will have meaning. But I just don’t believe that very many of the 1006 people polled by CNN were even aware of the issues raised by Judge Alito’s nomination (like privacy, the fourth amendment, presidential power and the theory of “unitary executive”.)

  48. Giacomo says:

Way to track them GOP talking points, Giacomo – to the letter. I’m impressed how well you stay on-message. Ever have original thoughts – y’know from your own brain?

Tell me then … logically, if Kerry knew that he didn’t have the votes to sustain a fillibuster, why did he try … it has nothing to do with a “talking point” … it just makes sense. It looks like a save face … a political move rather than a move of conscience. Like I said, it was extremely deft.

So you think it’s logical that a man who fought in a war, instead of dodging it like all the guys running theplace right now, wouldn’t stand up for a cause? Really? Because, logically, I would have thought that a guy who was a stand up guy, would stand up…

I’m with you Wayne … polls can be misleading if the “pollees” are stupid or if the “pollers” have an agenda … I do think that politicians look at the polls though.

  54. Giacomo says:

You could be right, unbelievable. Maybe he was taking a principled stance … but he was very much on record about his opinions on Alito … the fillibuster attempt looked a tad overkill … like he was making a point. Maybe that point was noble … maybe it was opportunistic …

  55. unbelievable says:

He (Al-Zawahri) also called President Bush a “loser” and the “butcher of Washington.”

Yes, this is the kind of mindset – on both sides of the fence. Calling people an ‘Axis of Evil’ is just as immature as calling them a ‘loser’… Wish they’d sling words at each other instead of planes and Armies and bullets. And just leave us and the Iraqi people the Hell out of it.

  56. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    #54 Giacomo,

I must respectfully disagree with you on that.

First of all, if you are “with” me in that polls can be misleading, then why did you post the story about it as if it proved a point? Or was a misleading point the one you were trying to make?

Secondly, if politicians really look at the polls, then why does the president think the American people are behind him in everything he does?

  57. Giacomo says:

Consider the source. He fought in a war he could have evaded and didn’t. Leans me more toward the ‘noble’ side (though as I’ve said, I’m not into absolutes and even the most philantrophic folks are still getting something out of their actions). But I’m impressed that your starting to think for yourself without the guilt holding you back.

  60. Giacomo says:

First of all, if you are “with” me in that polls can be misleading, then why did you post the story about it as if it proved a point? Or was a misleading point the one you were trying to make?

Trying to stick with the theme here … polls are cited often. Instead of just saying “America supports Alito” I posted the link … that way, I couldn’t be criticized for lacking “facts”. Truthfully, I don’t give a ton of credence to polls either way … they CAN be engineered. I thought a CNN one seemed like a fair source for the discussion, but I should probably refrain from using them if I, myself, don’t think they’re germaine.

Bush is on record as saying he doesn’t “look at the polls” (but then his press secretary cites them, so who knows). I think many politicians look at the polls … Bush seems to not, for the most part. Maybe he should ………. ?

You’ve been hanging out with us too much Giacomo – that was actually funny.

  62. mr ho says:

    People need to KNOW more about these signing statements and their potential of abuse. Notice Bushco has used the veto;

By Cooper’s count, George W. Bush issued 23 signing statements in 2001; 34 statements in 2002, raising 168 constitutional objections; 27 statements in 2003, raising 142 constitutional challenges, and 23 statements in 2004, raising 175 constitutional criticisms. In total, during his first term Bush raised a remarkable 505 constitutional challenges to various provisions of legislation that became law.

That number may be approaching 600 challenges by now. Yet Bush has not vetoed a single bill, notwithstanding all these claims, in his own signing statements, that they are unconstitutional insofar as they relate to him.

Rather than veto laws passed by Congress, Bush is using his signing statements to effectively nullify them as they relate to the executive branch. These statements, for him, function as directives to executive branch departments and agencies as to how they are to implement the relevant law.

and Alito, yet another Federlist WILL be decding upon these Signing statements if hes get son the Bench?

The Congress has lost their Mind…

  63. Giacomo says:

  64. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    Giacomo,

Before I leave for the night, just a quick note. You might not get such harsh treatment here (I’ve seen it) if you let us know more often when you do agree with us. I’ve seen that your posts are free of the ignorant, childishness we often see from some others, but if you only post on occasions where you take umbrage, people may lump you in with the “real” trolls. I like to believe that the country is not as divided as the extremes make it seem to be. Intelligent discussion is what the majority of us want (from anyone).

Giacomo, I think what you should have said is that you’ve always wanted to think for yourself. I’ve discussed topics a few times with you now, and in my experience you sometimes think for yourself – but typically you don’t. Instead you seem to engage your partisan brain to disrupt these glimpses of thought, and in the end your responses are often not thoughtful, rational or thought out.

That being said I do believe you like most partisans are well intentioned and otherwise capable people. I do believe you have very noble intentions and a strong desire to be good and thoughtful. And I forgive you for not living up to those ideals, most people don’t. But I’d say be more truthful about your partisan perspective and use less emotion in your ‘thinking’ process, and you’ll probably find you come to different conclusions.

One exercise you might try is to pretend you are defending the other liberal side, and find a way to prove their point. It might help you to think with the critical portions of your brain, instead of the emotional partisan ones. Keep trying pumpkin, because I think you’re one of the few partisans that might have a chance of kicking the spell!

You don’t fully think for yourself. You’ll understand when you finally do. I know. I used to think I thought for myself once upon a conservative time too. But I didn’t.

I doubt we agree on much at present. But if you’d read my posts in the prior conversation, you’d understand why I think that.

Then why do something if you think it’s ’stupid’?

  74. TerrytheTurtle says:

#73, won’t happen – starting tomorrow night, Chimpy will be trying to put an Iranian mullah armed with a dirty bomb under your bed. Americans are conditioned to be afraid of something everyday of their lives, just like they are conditioned to eat fast food, buy crappy beer, pop pills, whatever. There is violence everywhere if you watch your TV at night. This year, it’s the mullah who is going to be under your bed.

  75. Solitaire says:

I only wish more Democrats stood up against Alito. It’s just sad. But I have seen how, with time, turns and shifts in life and folly, hey, stuff happens! Maybe it’s Alito’s time to grow up and act like a adult, view us ALL as Americans instead of just his race/gender/class. Could happen. People change. And there are still other conservative justices who, to me, look pretty fuckin old. By the time we get to vote on another president, IF we get to vote on another president, there could be changes in the wind already. Anything they do can be reversed, just as they envision reversing the past 50 years. Time, if we have it, will tell.

  76. Solitaire says:

#75 yes, rigging the game behind the scene is the BushCo way. Violence, terror, all have a vital role in the BushCo playbook. I predict that the next step is the coming Palestinian civil war. It’s totally believable, comes right from the US playbook, and would be OH SO convenient! Hamas never gets to form a proper government and secularism is victorious!
I feel so sorry for the Palestinians. They’re toast.

  77. unbelievable says:

    Solitaire,

I’m disgusted with the Democrats. Only 25 of them stood up for us!! That’s appalling, and we should now consider them equal to the Republicans to be voted out of office in November. This could be the year for the Independent if some true liberals would run on their own against the traitors instead of standing down so the neocon Democrats in their party can maintain power. All the corrupt ones need to go, and today we might have finally seen the dividing line…

  78. Solitaire says:

    Unbelievable,
I only wish we really had even a two party system left. At this point, it seems more like one party, and that party did it on purpose, pretty much locking up the system at a status quo. So the idea of having a third party come in and change things is nice… but Unbelievable.

  79. unbelievable says:

I am afraid you may be right. Certainly fear is his trump card in this game he plays. Today’s polls say that terrorism, along with scandals and wiretapping are low on the public priority list. I understand more and more how Hitler rose to power right under the noses of the citizenry.
His incompetence on everything is astounding, yet when he swaggers on stage, and spouts his “dead or alive” rhetoric, people go home to hide under the covers; they’ll give him everything he wants and then some – until one day they’ll realize it’s all gone, and they can’t get it back.
For now, they foolishly think that once the “war on terror” is over, everything will be restored.

Now is the time for the small parties to shine. Really they are the only ones who haven’t actually come off badly in this last few years, and now it is confirmed that the Dems are really that spineless, and the Reps really are that corrupt.

Go out and vote Libertarian, Green, whoever you most agree with. Then do it again in the next election. Eventually things will be set right, and who knows, maybe those serious reforms everybody wants will make their way into the system, particularly if the lobbyists ended up bribing the wrong people.

  88. unbelievable says:

Being ‘different’ got Ross Perot 20% of the Presidential vote. I have to imagine that a real candidate running on a serious platform at local levels would do much better in November than old Ross. It’s certainly the year for the non-traditionalist IF people will vote their conscious instead of their party. Big IF. I don’t know if people are that feed up yet, or if it’s just us because we make an extra effort to pay attention.

Sharon – excellent letter to your Senator. Mine are Repugs, so not much hope there… I’ll probably move instead :)

  89. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    #88 Bruce,

I agree 100%. The two major political parties want people to believe that our only choice is between the two major political parties. They do not want any other parties represented in Congress. Their corrupt little system is not designed to have too many people who think outside of their boxes working in it.

They want you think in terms of black and white. They want you to think it’s us or them. They want you to believe that if you support a view other than the one they officially pronounce, then you’re wasting your time and theirs. They want you to think that only Democratics and Republicans can govern. That’s why they make it so hard for other parties to get into the race. They don’t want them to win.

If a third party candidate gets something like 5% of the popular vote, that candidate’s party not only gets an automatic place on the next presidential election ballot, but they get federal matching funds, too. The Reform Party won this when Ross Perot got his 20%. Too bad for them that the party disintegrated and now nobody enjoys the benefits that Perot won them. We need to do this again for more parties.

People from all political persuasions: You have other choices! You do not HAVE to vote for the two major political parties. You owe it to yourself and your nation to help break the hold the two major political parties have on the country. Vote for ANYONE who isn’t a Republican or Democratic candidate. Vote for the Conservative Party, the Liberal Party, the Libertarian Party, the Green Party, the Right to Life Party, the Marijuana Reform Party, or any of the hundreds of other choices. You do not have to vote for the same two pieces of crap we get offered every year.

    Comment by Lisa #52

    Lisa,

Both you and your child deserve the America we Progressives all know should be the standard bearer for the rest of the world…

But we need to fight back!

I e-mailed every one of those treasonous Dems and Howard Dean to let them know how pissed I am that they even call themselves Dems, and that not one dime will I contribute to the DNC until I see a concerted effort on their part to publicly denounce the red state Democrats who continually break ranks and side with the republiscum right wing…

We need to purge this Party of our traitors, take back this country, then purge the corrupt leadership and inbred, treasonous “loyalists”…

Right now America is under the influence of “pure evil”, just like in the days of slavery and Jim Crow…

One huge problem we’re going to have to solve is the fact that the red state inbreds have (through their political WASP males of privilege’s machinations- DIVIDE & CONQUER) managed to grab an inordinate amount of power through gerrymandering (see Texas and DeLay et al) thereby INCREASING their representation (despite having less population) while diluting the minority/white female/Progressive vote…

The red state inbreds produce less, receive more in welfare (farm subsidies, the prison/ military industrial complex), pay less in taxes, but are receiving increasingly more tax dollars and representation back than more productive BLUE STATES…

Look at the presidency! Political “experts” (media propagandists) have convinced Blue State American patriots that the presidency cannot be won without the “southern red state strategy”/vote! Then they (right wing scumbag traitors using Diebold or the Supreme Court, and other political dirty tricks) proceed to steal the election…

This situation has to be remedied, either through political redistricting, secession, or a completion of the Civil War…

Inbreds are armed and dangerous…get yours…

As soon as more poor/middle working class Blue state minorities, women, and decent white males get fed up with being “copulated” by these right wing, inbred, so-called conservative facists and republiscum-litists, (Dem traitors), the tide will turn…

But, something has got to give…

    Comment by Wayne A. Schneider — January 31, 2006 @ 8:02 am

Wayne, I fully agree, and generally vote Green when it’s an option. But if we don’t break away from the traditional parties in unity – we’ll wind up like California with another really bad Republican leader. I lived there at the time of that election and voted Green (there were many liberal options and only 2 conservative ones – Ah-nold and David Duke’s Doppleganger. They all pooled together for the Govenator while the liberals were divided among many, and, as you know, lost.)

We can do this – we just have to find a unified front – and develop our strength in numbers.

Is there an easier way to reach these people – like direct email addresses rather than some goddamn e-form that requires a lot of unnecessary personal information? It just takes a lot longer to email multiple people via http://www.congress.org and it is a (I think intentional) deterent.

I think you’re nailed it. Was reading an article online that talked about how new countries after a certain amount of time will find themselves divided on issues and wind up in civil war or country division (or both). Not sure how we could divide the U.S. since the blue states are along the coasts and borders… so civil war might just be forthcoming if things don’t change. Excellent post!

I wonder what you would test at if the asked you political questions – now that would be a funny result to see ;)

See sweetie, a partisan like yourself isn’t really qualified to rate the capabilities of another. That would require impartiality and non-partisan reasoning capabilities – neither of which you seem to be in possession of. I’m sure you’re a reasonably smart guy when you aren’t scared witless or filled with silly hate.

But I forgive you – clearly you aren’t thinking clearly, and your silly rantings certainly do more harm for your cause than they help. But then again, a partisan wouldn’t be able to understand this, so I forgive you in advance for whatever hateful and silly attack you’ll aim at me for trying to help you out pumpkin.

  111. RightPunch says:

Here you go I-RIGHT-I, go spend some of those big brain cycles on this research.

Once partisans had come to completely biased conclusions — essentially finding ways to ignore information that could not be rationally discounted — not only did circuits that mediate negative emotions like sadness and disgust turn off, but subjects got a blast of activation in circuits involved in reward — similar to what addicts receive when they get their fix, Westen explains.

“None of the circuits involved in conscious reasoning were particularly engaged,” says Westen. “Essentially, it appears as if partisans twirl the cognitive kaleidoscope until they get the conclusions they want, and then they get massively reinforced for it, with the elimination of negative emotional states and activation of positive ones.”

Poor druggie, you think you’re smart, when instead you’re just silly.

DOn’t be a moron. Where do you think the religious fundamentalism came from? Yep, the 1960’s period of Enlightenment when people were abandoning religion and the religious freaks got hard-core to try to survive. It’s just another swing of the pendulum in a different direction, that’s all.

If I had to guess though I’d say you’re thinking you shouldn’t have had that last piece of cheese cake last night.

Either you are lying about your score or the tester was just being kind. I was first tested in grade school and put into gifted programs. I was repeatedly tested each year, because the school has to do that to make sure the kids qualify so they get funding. Again in college during Psychology 101, the teacher gave us another test. He too had his Phd, but from a real university and not some Texas pig farming college… So I have interations validating mine. At best, you’re lucky if you score 125. But no way higher than that, or you’d have posted an actual number and answered me the first time I asked.

To some degree it does, because the conversation IRI and I were having in a previous forum was that I told him people of high intellectual capacity (which is all an I.Q. test measures – your capacity) tend not to believe in fairytales. Your range for it (146 to 160) is all in the top 1% of the country’s intellect. There’s some skewing for white men born in this country, but not enough in your case to consider you anything but extremely intelligent. And the fact that you’re on the Progressive side strengthens my argument with IRI. Thanks

But generally speaking my observation is that brighter people are less swayed by the winds of partisan hysteria. We tend to be too critical, too intellectually curious, and too intent on facts over fiction. Rich boy? Hardly. I am the very definition of the middle, working class. I make enough to scrape by. I own a 13 year old car and haven’t had a new car in over 16 years. I don’t have a portfolio. I have credit card debt. But guess what? It’s not the governments fault. I opted to have kids instead of extending my schooling. I like to play and enjoy my hobbies instead of saving. I pay a lot in taxes but thankfully it is less under this administration than under the dems. And because I disagree with you I am a moron? Typical libral thought process. If I don’t agree with you I must be dumb.

I take responsibility for my station in life. If it bothered me enough I’d take steps to improve it. The same could be said of anyone tired of where they are at and wanting to improve themselves.

I have no doubt that most of the regular progressives here are in the top 2-3%. And that the resident trolls are ‘above average’, but not enough to out think the smartest echelons – especially those like Karl Rove who use their briliance for selfish gain.

Absolutely there are exceptions. I remember when they announced the list of kids in 6th grade going to the gifted program everyone was shocked that the girl who always knew the answers and made straight A’s was not on the list. But I noticed the number of PhDs who’ve written satirical recommendations for the Flying Spaghetti Monster on http://www.venganza.org and realized that, in contrast, the hate mail was all written poorly by people who obviously had struggled to type it. It sort of occured to me that the brighter folks, as you said, don’t fall for talking donkeys…

It’s why Hitler banned the intelligents from Berlin I believe, because he knew he could not razzle dazzle them, and they’d see through his act. I’m convinced the internet has become our modern equivalent and why the current regime is presently campaigning to shut us up. We’ve practically converted Giacomo just by being ourselves :) and I’ve seen a few others who came in on the fence that are now just as fierce as we are. We scare them. As we should :)

The greatest men? Who says? You? “Greatness” as you put it is subjective. And if you are merely thinking the thoughts others previously conceived, then you aren’t either original or capable of your own thoughts. Not impressive IRI. Try again. My bet is you won’t.

    Numbers 22:28-30 (King James Version)

28And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?

29And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.

30And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? and he said, Nay.

What color is your skin? What is your gender? Where were you born?

If you don’t realize that those things increase your ability significantly over others who do not share them, you are, in addition to being ‘dumb’, an ignorant bigot.

    Good, so do I.

  126. unbelievable says:

I can’t believe you actually said that. You know the Filthy Left invented the guillotine? Just another reason to nuke France and take over their cheese.

    Comment by I-RIGHT-I — January 31, 2006 @ 6:52 pm

Oh, come on. You know I have a sense of humor. That was funny. Besides, I told you, I believe educated and responsible gun ownership is actually a liberal premise (to defend oneself against tyranny) established by our liberal, and intelligent, by the way, forefathers. I personally don’t own one yet. But if Scalito overturns Roe v. Wade and they start building the Wall, I will. My father taught us how to use weaponry and educated us not to shoot anything we didn’t intend to eat or as a last resort for self-defense.

Have you ever been to France? I have 3 times. I speak French, or atleast attept to because they immediate stop me and start talking in English. I really don’t understand how obnoxious you’d have tobe to piss off people that accommodating… but I’m sure you’ve invented the top two… anyway, wouldn’t nuke it. It’s wonderful. Another country scenically superior to your state.

I’ll let Dr Westen describe your response – as he does it best.

Pumpkin, your autobiography isn’t relevant to this thread. The fact is that Delay and the rest of the republican partisan machine can count on fewer brainwashed voters than they realized. I forgive you for straying off topic, I know you’re doing the best with your limited facilities today.

  130. RightPunch says:

Hey unbelievable, you know this isn’t the first time that an ass quoted christian scripture. This is one of my favorite parts of the Christian fairy tale, it’s like watching Shrek.

NU 22:28 And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?
22:29 And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.
22:30 And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay.

Who sad asses can’t talk – we now have multiple sightings ;) Although the one in the fairy tale seems more rational – maybe he wasn’t a partisan?

  131. RightPunch says:

unbelievable, I was going to make a trashy comment about how much this ass gets ridden but I refrained – until now :)

Poor IRI, he just can’t help himself.

That ’speech’ tonight was a load of crap. Either lies, empty promises or perfect explanation of why the boy who would be king is a radical that’s a threat to our nation. And the worse part is that he truly believes he is on the right path…

Well, I’m exhausted watching that…. off to la la land… Good night RP! Was fun doing battle with you against the trolls. As usual, we cleared the room :)

I would say the cheese eating surrender monkeys can have the scenery as long as they can hold on to it. It’s not looking too good for them right now though. But I must insist that Big Bend in its way is as beautiful a place as I’ve ever been and I’ve been around and I’ve been to France. It smells funny over there. It smells like a room full of NOW hags.

The ass was very partisan as he was doing what he was told to do. He was trying to save his master from making a huge mistake. It’s too bad you don’t have an ass like that. All you have is Donks and believe me when I tell you that God isn’t talking to them.

We’ve already had the Big Bend discussion and I agreed that it’s one of the few scenic places in all of Tex-ass. I was there last spring when the cacti were in bloom – ironic juxtaposition of these crepe-papery pink and yellow blossoms on prickly barbs carpeted the floor of the park. But it wasn’t as scenic as Denali, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Redwood, Olympic, the entire state of Utah, or France.

Must’ve been your own cheese breath you smelled in France. I didn’t think it smelled any differently than any other big city. Try Shanghai if you really want a pungent smelling city…

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times… prove tome that there is a god and I’ll apologize.

Otherwise accept the fact that only place any of us is going after this life is eternal sleep. No reward, no reunions, no nothing. And one difference is that I won’t have wasted all those Sundays at church…

Jesus said that even if the Walking Dead Losers saw a man come back from the dead they would not believe. He was right. The person who has allowed sin to so harden their heart is beyond being convinced of anything. If you are one of those then God has abandoned you and there is nothing further to discuss.

The proof of God’s existence is all around you and in you. It’s a shame the Catholic church doesn’t do a better job with you people. The only thing worse than a lapsed Catholic is a Left Wing atheist or Reform Jew. You are both dead and don’t even know it. God said that I didn’t.
