Thank goodness we aren’t making that error again.

I was more than honored to sign the petition and will be watching to see how this comes out. It is a crime that literary works that glorify wars of the past or that portray war as a heroic endeavor are still in print and available in any public library, and yet the book you cite (and I must be honest, I’ve not read it but I did see the movie “Full Metal Jacket”) that show just how insane war really is, isn’t available to anybody. Some wars are fought out of necessity (The Revolutionary War, the Civil War and WWII). Others are fought purely by choice and for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with “spreading democracy and freedom” or “national security” but are fought to enrich the profiteers of the military/industrial complex that Dwight D. Eisenhower warned us about in his farewell speech in 1960. And what political party are the war profiteers umbilically linked to? Can I get a “Halliburton” from the congregation? Semper Fi!

Thank you for being one of the growing majority who isn’t just another fearful, sheeplike zombie. Serving in the Marines was an honor and I also thank you for your acknowledgement. Unfortunately there are too many of my brothers and sisters still on active duty serving in Iraq or Afghanistan that can’t tell anyone how they really feel for fear of reprisal by superiors. I, on the other hand (being an Honorably discharged vet), do not have such constraints. With folks like you and me who refuse to be hypnotized by that shiny watch of fear they keep swinging in front everyones eyes, maybe, just maybe this country still has a chance to survive. Come November we’ll see if our fellow citizens are finally waking up from their trances. I pray to God they do, or this grand experiment called the American Republic will join Athens and Rome in the dustbin of history.

Gus Hasford, USMC, the guy who wrote The Short Timers, the novel that the film Full Metal Jacket was based on, and other great Viet Nam era literature, has a website … but it’s the petition I’d like to ask you to sign to keep his writing in print. In the movie, Private Joker… that was Gus.

You are a Democrat in name only. And probably only because you’ve been too lazy or drunk to go down to the Voters Registration Office to change your party affiliation. You’re a Democrat like Zell Miller is the Archangel Gabriel. I am a veteran (USMC: BCo. 3rd Plt. 1st Battalion 4th Marines, 3rd Mar. Div.) and you are (in all likelihood) just exactly what everyone on this blog thinks you are. Some fat, white, spoiled little College Republican who’s idea of “supporting the troops” requires zero sacrifice from you or any of your other white, rich, fatass buddies. And getting drunk and jerking off to an Ann Coulter poster doesn’t count! I think all you so called “real Americans” who confuse neo-con rhetoric and platitudes with real patriotism need to go back and re-read some of the words of wisdom of “our” founding fathers. One said that it wasn’t just the right of the people to question our leaders and hold them accountable, it was our duty. Another said that anyone who was willing to give up certain liberties for security deserved neither. These are the ideals that I served to defend. These are the principles and the values that made America the great country that it was. At one time in history, the shining example of democracy. So even if you are who you say you are, then your delusions about what this country should be and who should be considered a “real” American is even more disgusting than if you were just some spoiled little Yellow Elephant frat boy with with the same group-think mentality as the rest of your narrow minded, Bible thumping, racist kind. And let’s not forget that the leaders you cling to and defend so fiercely for having the “courage” to stand up and defend you and yours against all those “evil” brown people out there who want to kill you and destroy your way of life (a bigger load of b.s. than I’ve ever heard)had the chance to put their money where their mouths were years ago. Dubya joined the “Champagne Unit” of the Texas Air National Guard and then decided that he could just skip the whole last year of his enlistment (that pesky flight physical might have found that cocaine in his system and how would that look….) And our illustrious Veep (he of the 5 college deferments) had “other priorties, other than military service”. And that good ‘ol bug killer from Sugarland (Tommy “The Hammer” DeLay) who couldn’t find a spot because they’d all been taken up by minorities and poor whites… These are the guys you idolize? Go down the list of all the Republican warhawks who used whatever methods, fair or foul, to convince Americans that if we didn’t invade immediately that our country would be a charred, poisoned crater and you find that with a very few notable exceptions. not one of them ever wore the uniform of their country (in any branch of service) or shed one drop of blood in defense of “freedom and democracy”. And Bush doesn’t count as one of the few, because he was only playing dress-up and playacting as a soldier. And the only blood he might have shed during his time in uniform was probably when he fell off a barstool in the O-Club! Yet these are the leaders you want making life and death decisions on foreign policy? These are the guys that make you feel all warm and secure here at home while the sons, daughters, mothers and fathers of others are still doing all the fighting and dying for them? These morons couldn’t respond to a natural disaster in the Gulf Coast with a little over a weeks advanced warning! God forbid that it had been another “unforseen” terrorist attack, only this time with a dirty bomb or some particularly nasty biological agent. Considering Bush’s response immediately following the 9/11 attacks we might still be looking for him!! And with Dick Cheney’s sudden coronary we’d be left with Dennis Hastert to coordinate our response, relief and recovery efforts. I don’t know about you, but that scenario scares the hell out of me! The fact that we haven’t had another more devastating terrorist attack in this country isn’t because of the leadership of these incompetant, corrupt jackasses. It’s only been through sheer dumb luck. Which these guys seem to have by the truckloads. And it isn’t a matter of if but when. And when that day comes and these self-appointed emperors are still in charge, who will you blame then? You sure won’t be able to put this one on Clinton or “liberals” in general. You might try looking in the mirror first.

This is ineffective and completely counter-productive. True American’s propaganda is much better and even that stuff is transparent and simplistic crap. My forefathers fought in the Revolutionary War (yea, my sister could be a DAR if she wanted) for an independent America. I lost family on both sides of the Civil War. Thank god the southerners were Virginians and not some Tabacco Road southerners like yourself. My grandfather fought in WWI, My father & uncle fought the whole of WWII.

I was lucky. I was too young to be drafted for Vietnam. So I did what was patriotic and demonstrated against it.

I grudgingly accepted the invasion of Afganistan. We had to do it. I knew that.

Bush43 & co lied about the whole kit & caboodle to get us to invade Iraq. There were no WMD, there were no bioweapons labs, there were no nukes being built, there was NO CONNECTION between Iraq & Al Quada. There were NO IRAQI’s in the 19 9/11 hijackers. Saddam is an asshole (bigger than you even), but we had him boxed in well. bushco invaded cause 1) oil 2) some new neocon domino theory of how we would come to dominate the middle east (that’s worked out really well, eh?) 3) he had a chip on his shoulder and he was trying to out do his daddy who did a spectacular job in Desert Storm 4) he has Darth Cheney & Rumsfield pulling his puppet strings.

So go back to your stinking mud hut in the south and stop giving good southerners such a bad name. & HEY, I don’t care what your pappy told you, you ain’t supposed to have carnal relations with critters or family! Damn.

Someone said this morning that Cindy had also brought in a banner and hung it over the balcony. I have not seen further reporting of that. How in the hell does someone sneak a banner in?

I made it clear that I had heard it and that I did not see anything more on it. I was not saying that she had. I was questioning whether it was true or not since one would expect more coverage if it was.

What kind of drugs are they putting in the K-Y to keep the Filthy Left so enamored with a failed ideology and so willing to swallow any lie as long as it hurts our country?

I guess the drug is similar to the oxycontin laced kool-aid that the right uses to numb their senses. Being numb allows the right to swallow all of the current adminstrations lies and cheer as failure after failure occurs. The kool-aid drunk sheep are willing to swallow any lie as long as it “sticks it to the Dems”. It doesn’t matter how much this administrations policies are hurting America. Why do u hate America IRI?

Right questions…..wrong party. These are exactly the kind of questions that you should be asking the current administration. After all, Dubya is the one that wants to circumvent the constitution and appoint himself king. I mean, it’s just a damn piece of paper. What type of patriot would gladly give up constitutionally pretected freedoms that many have fought and died for in order to support one man’s vision of America? Answer: No patriot would do that, only yellow bellied traitors. To see an example, hold up a mirror.

You can’t make this shit up.

How one carries themselves when confronted by authority figures oft times determines the actions taken by the authority figure. If Ms. Sheehan was disrespectful, called them names, etc. then her chances of being arrested go up exponentially. The reaction of these two woman would have played a HUGE role in how they were treated. Respect gets you much further than disrespect.

Cindy Sheehan finally got her invitation to see President Bush again, but before she set eyes on him at the State of the Union address, Capitol Police removed her from the gallery overlooking the House chamber.

Even though her shirt supports the war, she was not allowed back into chambers as it was taken as an act of protest.

They don’t support THE TROOPS they SUPPORT THEIR WAR. If they had any respect for them they would be showing flag draped coffins coming home. They would be doing so much MORE for our wounded coming home.

According to Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, Sddam was killing between 75 and 125 people per day for 22 years. If you use 100 per day that is 803,000 people.
