Wow. I’m exhausted just thinking about it. Good luck.
January 31st, 2006 at 3:59 pmGore Vidal has a rebuttal to Bush’s SOTU speech on The Raw Story.com. Democracy Now! also has Vidal’s speech on its program today.
January 31st, 2006 at 4:06 pmI’ll be here! And I’m sending out links for others to check it out as well.
January 31st, 2006 at 4:17 pmI’ll keep the Boy King on mute, and TP on the computer. Good luck, and have fun.
January 31st, 2006 at 4:18 pmI cant watch bushco.
Every State of the Union with this Guy Bush is nothing more than a Political Propaganda Campaign.
Its as if Bush and his Handlers have forgotten the elections over and they just keeping putting George in front of the Camera to repeat the Same Tired Lines over and over, negating his duties to the salus populi, sounding More Rush Limbaugh doing the blame game Pundit rather the a Leader.
YaY! a Federally Funded Bush 2004 Campaign Speech!
cleverly not disguised as a State of The Union Address!!
(over and over….)
Enjoy the wag the dog ‘SHOW’ I’ll read ’bout it later.
January 31st, 2006 at 4:26 pmAny chance the address will be “truth-captioned for the propaganda-impaired”?
January 31st, 2006 at 4:32 pmI’m watching it with my buddy from Tennesee, Mr. Jack Daniels….no drinking games…except maybe Russian Roulette
January 31st, 2006 at 4:33 pmyou forgot to list preferred adult beverages to imbibe whilst taking in the BS coming out of Loser’s mouth…
January 31st, 2006 at 4:43 pmIs it just me or are the posts somewhat subdued today? I wonder what happened? Oh, thats right, today is the day the Republicans rescued the Supreme Court. Maybe dems will grow a spine again in about 30 to 40 years so ya’ll get used to being the minority party for awhile.
January 31st, 2006 at 4:44 pmI was gonna listen in but thanks to the scalito battle the “liberal” cabal was exposed. You have a couple members of that cabal on your panel. So I’ll be skipping it.
January 31st, 2006 at 4:45 pm#9, here’s your recipe for coping with the King’s spew this evening… http://www.drinkinggame.us/
January 31st, 2006 at 4:47 pmI wish that Wayne and I could join TP tonight for the speech, but we’ll be taking notes and yelling “Liar! Liar!” at the TV. Wayne promises that by the next SOTU, we’ll have internet access at home, so we can join in the fun next year.
I’m looking forward to reading everybody’s comments tomorrow!
Good evening, all!

January 31st, 2006 at 5:09 pmHang on people.
The whirly-gig
Is about to start.
Spin, spin, spin.
January 31st, 2006 at 5:09 pmI would just like to say, Congratulations, ThinkProgress, on your one year anniversary! And thanks for being a place I can go to, to remember that I am not alone out here. Best wishes for your continued success.
January 31st, 2006 at 5:10 pmDamn I wish I had a better computer!
January 31st, 2006 at 5:11 pmI’ll try to urge ‘the ole girl’ (my 6 year old comp) thru’ it; but streaming takes its toll…
Like the Schneiders’I too will soon have the power you all possess.
BWHAAAAAAAA!
(Sorry. Giddy with the thought of a real computer…!)
I think the finest moment tonight will be when new Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito is introduced to the nation. This is the beginning of the end for all you judicial facists out there. Roe v. Wade: GONE! This ridiculous emminent domain ruling that allows government to steal your property: GONE! All these ridiculous lawsuits by secular progressives to eliminate religion in this country: GONE! IN YOUR FACE, LIBERALS. Thank you George W. Bush. Hopefully, he will get another Supreme Court vacancy before the next three years are over. How old is Justice Kennedy these days, anyway?
January 31st, 2006 at 5:15 pmBe on the lookout for the 2006 version of the 16 words….”The (UN) has learned that (Iran) recently sought…”.
God help us.
January 31st, 2006 at 5:17 pmI’m with you zoo, can’t stand the chimps voice, but I can look away from that cowardly smirk. I…naaa won’t respond to trolls, it’s to easy with this jerk.
January 31st, 2006 at 5:21 pmSweet, I found the offical SOTU 2006 Drinking Game rules
http://www.drinkinggame.us/

January 31st, 2006 at 5:26 pmPlease overturn Roe vs Wade, for as soon as you do, you will lose millions of votes from the fence sitters that only vote republican because they are anti-abortion.
January 31st, 2006 at 5:28 pmSpudge-
Are these drinking game rules endorsed by Ted Kennedy?
January 31st, 2006 at 5:28 pmPlease overturn Roe vs Wade, for as soon as you do, you will lose millions of votes from the fence sitters that only vote republican because they are anti-abortion
-Spongebob
You are going to have to explain your logic on this. Why would someone who is pro-life be pissed at the Republicans for appointing a justice who helps overturn Roe v. Wade? I don’t understand.
January 31st, 2006 at 5:33 pmThanks to spudge, I don’t drink but I find this really funny! Food for thought on Roe V Wade. What’s that piece of garbage under your post? Is that a ‘head in my ass?’..lolol.
January 31st, 2006 at 5:34 pmHere’s a preview of the SOTU, kill me now…
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/1/31/171150/061
January 31st, 2006 at 5:34 pmNo, they are endorsed by me. Not sure what you mean. Bush is the one giving the State of the Union. Not sure what would rive you to bring up Ted Kennedy.
wwallace
January 31st, 2006 at 5:35 pmSee if you understand this time. All you have to do is read my comment:
“Please overturn Roe vs Wade, for as soon as you do, you will lose millions of votes from the fence sitters that only vote republican because they are anti-abortion.”
Spongebob, good one. Heh. Not.

Because Ted Kennedy is an alcoholic, hypocritical, murdering, windbag. I just can’t resist taking a shot at him whenever drinking and politics are put together.
January 31st, 2006 at 5:39 pm#28 - It works just as well if you replace Ted Kennedy with George W. Bush. Good one!
January 31st, 2006 at 5:43 pmSpudge-
Ohhhhhhh. I understand now, I think. It was hard to translate your horrible grammar. You are trying to say that these millions of voters (probably more like thousands, because pro-murder - er, pro-abortion - voters usually are Democrats) would vote for Democrats because they are pro-murder - er, pro-abortion. I think not. The right to murder babies, albeit an important consideration, really doesn’t sway that many voters, anyway. Only the most radical leftist - like yourself - would really wieght abortion as a more important voting consideration then, say, our roaring economy, or national security.
January 31st, 2006 at 5:46 pm#29-
Last I checked, George Bush never drove his car off of a bridge and left his passenger to drown so he could go sleep it off.
January 31st, 2006 at 5:48 pmIn your Face,
Re: Abortion comment,
So I guess Spector is a radical leftist, since he spent considerable time going over that “LAW OF THE LAND”, and even had a chart made up of 38 cases, all strenghtening that law.
January 31st, 2006 at 5:53 pmLoser.
What century is this?
January 31st, 2006 at 5:55 pmNot sure what your hate filled diatribe has to do with my comment. Here read it again, try to comprehend.
“Please overturn Roe vs Wade, for as soon as you do, you will lose millions of votes from the fence sitters that only vote republican because they are anti-abortion.â€
January 31st, 2006 at 5:56 pmInteresting “In YOUR FACE” that you mention the theft of property. You know you don’t have to look further than W. Bush brothers state of Florida to see that Republicans are doing it too.
Florida Republicans Steal Property Too - Two bills allow local Florida governments the power to take property away from an individual landowner and sell it to a private developer for a shopping center, office development, or virtually any other private purpose.
January 31st, 2006 at 5:57 pm#32-
The law of the land will be determined soon enough, chump. Better get your baby murdering finished now, before it’s too late.
January 31st, 2006 at 5:57 pmAnd George Bush is a drunk and has a cocaine record. George Bush my not have drove off a bridge and killed somebody while he was drunk, but his wife drove into the side of somebody, killing them.
So, either Ted Kennedy and Laura Bush are both murderers or they are both guilty of manslaughter. You do know what the difference is right?

Like “Quit bitching” just stated, it will all be over soon enough. Your property will be safe and sound, courtesy of John Roberts and Sam Alito.
January 31st, 2006 at 6:00 pmIt Is A Settled Law. The Head Of The Judiciary (A REPUB) has stated so!!!!
You have NO response to that, do you?
Both with Alito and Roberts!
January 31st, 2006 at 6:00 pmSo is Spector a chump?
Spudge-
Are you actually comparing a simple traffic accident, which resulted in a death, to someone diliberately drowning another person? You have sunk to a new low.
January 31st, 2006 at 6:02 pmFirst of all, it is interesting that you would call a girl a chump. You have seen a girl before right? They are the ones with bumps at the top.
Secondly:
“Please overturn Roe vs Wade, for as soon as you do, you will lose millions of votes from the fence sitters that only vote republican because they are anti-abortion.â€
Not sure how many times I will have to post that, but I will continue until you overturn. Do it. Don’t just come here and talk shit. Send a letter to your Congressmen to get the legislation started. No time to argue with us stupid Dems, get to work.
January 31st, 2006 at 6:02 pmLike “Quit bitching†just stated, it will all be over soon enough. Your property will be safe and sound, courtesy of John Roberts and Sam Alito.

So your trailer is far more important than a woman’s control over her own body?
You guys are sick!

Yeah, it is settled law. FOR NOW. UNTIL THE NEXT ABORTION CASE COMES BEFORE THE COURT. Then they will RE-SETTLE the law. Who gives a shit about what Specter says, anyway?
January 31st, 2006 at 6:05 pmthe trolls are all worked up now, lolol…we must have hit a nerve….’On your knees you trolls when boy king speaks tonight and worship your god!’ See ya at the polls this year and 08….oh, can we send unwanted babys to your house?…hmmm?
January 31st, 2006 at 6:05 pm#31 - You don’t have to drive your car off a bridge to be an alcoholic, hypocritical, murdering windbag. George W. Bush is all of those things.
Spudge, we need to leave these f*ckwits alone.
January 31st, 2006 at 6:07 pmThanks Spudge! :-)
January 31st, 2006 at 6:07 pm#42-
Damn right my trailer is more important than a woman’s right to murder a baby. Maybe - just maybe - the outlawing of baby murdering, and the prospect of getting a back-alley abortion with a coat hanger, will make men and women think twice about irresponsible behavior. If not, then so be it. Death from sepsis, or maybe irreversible damage to their reproductive tract, will be the result. Either way, there will be less unintended pregnancies, which is the ultimate goal.
January 31st, 2006 at 6:10 pmFirst of all, it is interesting that you would call a girl a chump. You have seen a girl before right? They are the ones with bumps at the top.

Now think of your mother faced with that awful choice….
what do you “choose” for her?
First of all, it is great that you admit you are trailer trash.
Second of all, Mr. Doom and Gloom. People will just go where it IS legal. Dumbass. And as I said before, why are you wastin gtime here. Go write to your Senators and Representatives. Get the ball rolling already.

Sorry, but my Mom isn’t, and never was, a whoring baby murderer like you are. So how many abortions are you up too, anyway?
January 31st, 2006 at 6:16 pm#55,
You have crossed the line.
I will ignore you now, and go join my 16 year old to watch movies instead of putting up with your crap.
You’re right Spudge… A-ONE trailer trash.
January 31st, 2006 at 6:19 pm#52-
The point is, baby murdering will not be legal ANYWHERE in our country in short order. Unless you live in Minnesota, and want to head across the border to Canada, there won’t be anyhere to go. You can try Mexico, but………. I don’t recommend undergoing an invasive medical procedure in THAT country.
January 31st, 2006 at 6:20 pm#56-
Good thing for your daughter that you “choose” not to murder her in the womb, eh?

January 31st, 2006 at 6:26 pmSpudge-
And how did you come to the determination that my world view is so teeny-tiny? Because I am against murdering infants in the womb? Because I realize that people are not likely to fly to Europe or Canada for an abortion, and are too scared to go to Mexico? Please, explain.
January 31st, 2006 at 6:27 pmTrue Blue-
So, did your daughter thank you for not killing her in-utero?

Actually, the link should be named “What Bush will say, What the Leftist Radicals Want You to Know.” What a bunch of tripe.
January 31st, 2006 at 6:33 pmBecause you think that “people are not likely to fly to Europe or Canada for an abortion.” Tiny minds think tiny.
BTW, You never answered how you know your mom isn’t/wasn’t a whoring baby murderer.
January 31st, 2006 at 6:34 pmThis imbecile thinks that if Roe vs Wade is overturned that abortion will all of a sudden be banned in the United States. You are a retard. Go study up. People will only need to travel as far as a state that allows LEGAL abortions. What a joke you are. You got a brain full of tripe.
wwallace
January 31st, 2006 at 6:36 pm#66-
Yes, the states will take over abortion rights. But the fundamental concept that will cause Roe vs. Wade to be overturned is that A FETUS IS A LIVING HUMAN BEING. Killing a LIVING HUMAN BEING IS MURDER, or manslaughter, if you like Ted Kennedy. Sorry, I know you are disappointed, but murder will never be legal.
And as far as me being an idiot, I ask again. Did your daughter ever thank you for not killing her in utero? Or, have you brain washed her also? To her, murdering babies is probably just fine. Hell, she is probably slinging ass all her school, isn’t she? Well, in the not-so-distant-future, her behavior will have consequences. How about a coat hanger?
January 31st, 2006 at 6:38 pmIN YOUR FACE, the imbecile who believes if abortion is outlawed there will be no abortion. No, no, no. Desperate girls/women do desperate things. Hospitals will just re-open their abortion wards. If you don’t think they existed, think again. Horrors. Grow a uterus, FACE, or shut the f*ck up.
January 31st, 2006 at 6:41 pmIf you think they *didn’t* exist…
January 31st, 2006 at 6:42 pmAs much as everyone enjoys a screaming match about abortion, maybe we should stay focused on the SOTU for the time being.
January 31st, 2006 at 6:42 pmHey, um… “IN YOUR FACE!” person…
The best part of all your commentary in here is that all the polls show that the American public disagrees with you on just about everything you stand for.
Soooo… the point is… keep posting! Amusement is at an all-time low in this country. We need you more now than ever.
January 31st, 2006 at 6:43 pmHa, prove it.
January 31st, 2006 at 6:43 pm#74 - You’re right, Judd, I’m outta here. It’s such a volatile subject!
January 31st, 2006 at 6:44 pmWhat a sick a**hole you are.
Just because you believe a person should have control over their OWN body, does not a whore make.
My daughter does not have to thank me, because abortion was simply not an option, for me. However, I have no right to tell another woman what to do with her body.
There’s a saying,
“If you cut off my reproductive rights, can I cut off yours?”
Think about that and then argue YOU can do whatever YOU want, but a woman should have NO choice.
I will not give you info on my daughter. Do not speak any more of her. Only warning.
January 31st, 2006 at 6:45 pmJudd,
That’s why I posted the rules for the SOTU drinking game. Too bad you are gonna be busy or you could get wasted too.

January 31st, 2006 at 8:05 pmThe State of the Union is “irrelevent” because there’s no way to challenge the idit in REAL TIME. He just spews his garbage unchallenged — snas the stupid “clapping meter”.
January 31st, 2006 at 8:06 pmState of our Union? Misinformed.
January 31st, 2006 at 8:53 pmOn Tuesday, President Bush will give his much anticipated State of the Union address to Congress and the American people. In the past, this speech has been a vehicle for Bush to tell some of the biggest lies that any President of the United States has ever told. We will hear him speak on a number of issues including but not limited to: Iraq. He will say that he is seeing progress in Iraq. But he won’t mention that he has cut off Iraqi reconstruction funding. He won’t mention the one hundred thousand Iraqi people who have died as a result of his imperial policy of preemptive war. He won’t mention the 16,000 wounded U.S. soldiers, those soldiers he has rarely visited. He won’t mention his cuts in veterans services that will leave Iraqi War vets financially broken and badly in need of food, medicine and therapy when they return. He might mention that the Iraqi people now have a democratically mandated right to vote, but he won’t mention that the people have voted for a mostly radical, backwards Shiite majority who are now set to align themselves with hardline Iran, Hamas, and other radical elements in the middle east. He won’t tell us that his real agenda in Iraq is to create a new, permanent military presence on bases throuought the middle east. And he won’t tell us that we are fighting his war of choice to secure the oil that we have become MORE dependent on under his leadership. He won’t tell us that our occupation of Arab land will further anger Arabs and harden anti-Americanism throughout the world. He will not tell us that this hawkish, neo-conservative example of aggressive militarism will make us a constant and permanent target of terror. He will most definately mention health care. He will probably talk about some new right-wing health care plan. He will hide the evidence that this new health care plan will further bleed the middle class of their means. He will also hide evidence that this plan will further enrich the insurance industry. He won’t tell us that, just like his misguided social security plans, this new health care initiative will take up lots of his time with zero results in the end. He won’t tell us that his domestic agenda, including this health care issue will ultimately fail because his presidency is significantly weakened by a massive credibility problem. Over and over, we have seen this president loot our future and weaken our institutions through cronyism and incompetence. The more we educate ourselves on this administration’s domestic policies, the more is revealed about how his policies have weakened our most sacred institutions. People just don’t trust him with their ecenomic security. The president will mention New Orleans. He’ll say that after the worst disaster in our nation’s history, New Orleans is recovering. He will certainly not mention that he is withholding Katrina documents from the congressional investigation on what went wrong there. He will not mention that there are still 3000 missing New Orleans residents. And he won’t mention that hurricane season is just around the corner and the gulf is becoming warmer. He won’t mention his reluctance to admit that global warming is a reality. He won’t tell us that the levees are not and will not be rebuilt before the next season. He won’t tell us that FEMA has kicked Katrina victims out of hotels and into the street while we spend billions on war. He won’t mention that the mainstream news has devoted hours and hours and hours to a missing blond girl (Natalie Holloway) in Aruba but hardly mention these 3000 people missing from New Orleans. He will mention Warantless Eavesdropping (he will call it “Terrorist Surveillance Program”). He will claim again that what he has done to us is legal. Bush and his thugs went on a public relations campaign on this issue last week and said that the eavesdropping program was legal. They said it 48 times last week. He will absolutely NOT tell us the truth about this highly secret operation that many of the most brilliant legal scholars, Democrat, Republican and non-partisan alike, agree breaks the law under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. He will lie like hell about this program because he knows that a president can be impeached and removed from office for committing a High Crime or Misdemeanor. He will mention the Economy (he will temporarily forget about his spending us into the most massive debt in our nations history and say, “The Economy is strong.” He will say that the economy is growing but will not mention that the economy only grew at a rate of 1.1% which is one of the lowest growth rates in U.S. history. He won’t talk about the fact that no president in history has been fiscally irresponsible enough to cut taxes while at war… until now. He won’t mention that the U.S. consumer saving rate fell to -0.05% which hasn’t happened in this country since The Great Depression. He won’t mention that Exxon again posted another record profit last quarter. $10.7 billion on top of last quarter’s profit of $9.9 Billion! That’s an incredible $37 Billion last year. The largest corporate profits in human history! In the same year, Bush gave Exxon $15 Billion in tax cuts and cut social programs. Bush cut Medicare, Medicade, food stamp programs and school loans by billions. All this while we pay the highest gasoline prices and energy rates since the 1970’s when there was an oil embargo and worldwide energy crisis. Bush won’t tell us that he is systematically unravelling and therefore destroying the social fabric of this country. And he won’t say why he is doing this to us. But, as we all know he will undoubtedly say this: “911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911 911″. That’s 111 911’s!
I will be watching closely and I will try to catch Bush’s lies this time around. But we have to remember that he’s really slippery. The most destructive kind of liar. We have to remember that recent history has proven one thing without equivocation: Bush lies to us. He’s really good at it and we have to listen closely. If we, the people of the United States of America can’t or won’t unmask this president, who will? If we don’t stop him from ruining our country and our reputation and misinterpreting our values to the world, who will?
So good to see that the Repugnant party (in this case “IN YOUR FACE!”) is well represented here tonight.
I recall that [they] supposedly were the party of ‘Family Values’.
One question: Are these excerpts a good or bad example of “Family Values’:
———————-
1) “Hell, she is probably slinging ass all her school, isn’t she? Well, in the not-so-distant-future, her behavior will have consequences. How about a coat hanger?”
2) “Good thing for your daughter that you “choose†not to murder her in the womb, eh?”
3) “Sorry, but my Mom isn’t, and never was, a whoring baby murderer like you are. So how many abortions are you up too, anyway?”
4) “Maybe - just maybe - the outlawing of baby murdering, and the prospect of getting a back-alley abortion with a coat hanger, will make men and women think twice about irresponsible behavior. If not, then so be it. Death from sepsis, or maybe irreversible damage to their reproductive tract, will be the result. Either way, there will be less unintended pregnancies, which is the ultimate goal.”
——————————–
I probably could have included 90% of “IN YOUR FACE!”’s posts, but the point has been made.
Outstanding job representing the heartless (not to mention disgusting) view and attitude of the Rebublican party! Keep it up and you (”IN YOUR FACE!”) could be the next FEMA director…or maybe spokesman/woman for the Republican party. I some small way you already are.

Edit (last two sentences of my previous post):
I[n] some small way you already are.
Luck[y] them….
- Give me a break, I’m dealing with both my parents who are elderly and suffer from dimentia. My mind feels like it’s a bowl of jelly lately!
January 31st, 2006 at 9:40 pm#87/88: You did fine anyway, jelly-mind or not. Been there re: elderly parent-care, it’s a bitch. It’s a wonder that you can function at all! Good luck, my heart goes out to you.
February 1st, 2006 at 9:41 amWell, if you are poor, sick and uninsured just cough on your co-workers, fellow students, fellow citizens etc. Don’t wash your hands, blow snot rockets and wipe with you fingers, touch lots of door knobs and drinking fountains, shake hands frequently, hack away all day without covering your mouths and prepare other insured people’s food. Maybe then others will see the need for healthcare for all. Not to mention much more serious and contageous diseases.
November 20th, 2006 at 6:37 amShouldn’t an at least minimum prophylactic health care system be part of Homeland Security for everyone?.
Nothing civilized about this propsal, but at least they are consistent with their winner take all philosophy.
