DeLay defense fund in the red.

“Embattled U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay raised more money for his legal defense in 2005 than ever before but still owes hundreds of thousands of dollars to lawyers.”

  1. Buckley Roberts says:

That sounds like further evidence of the vast left-wing conspiracy. Now they aren’t allowing him to raise enough money to fight this ridiculous law. I blame Ted Kennedy.

  2. Dick Titeas says:

As a lifelong (R) I’d love to contribute to Mr. DeLay but due to his party’s policies I have lost my job due to outsourcing, had part of my retirement stolen by fraud (Enron), am underemployed and uninsured, and can barely afford to heat my house and buy gasoline.

  3. afterthought says:

Maybe some Indian tribes would like to help?

  4. mr ho says:

maybe he can get a Loan from all those Senators he bought off.
Or Perhaps The Russians may float him a few Duckies. They gave Lauras favorite Charity 100,000.

Better make another Faux Charity website Tom, get a few phone lines, print some letterheads, then contact your commie friends and get a ‘Donation’

  5. Zookeeper says:

    Boo f*ckin’ hoo.

  6. mr ho says:

Hey Call up Mr Falwell or Pat Robertson Tom, Maybe you can get a job loading that ,wink-wink, ‘Foreign Aid’ aboard those Jets for the Diamond Mines…

  7. mr ho says:

    Hey this is what RUSH LIMBAUGH calls;
    emotional punditry
Advocacy for a particular objective using purely emotional pleas with little regard for logical arguments for/against the objective.

Well thanks Rush, we are NOW elightened by your great Truth Detector about your FRIEND Delay..

  8. big papa says:

“Povertize” his crooked, arrogant, scummy a*s…

    …then imprison him…

  9. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Maybe if the tribes won’t pinch in and help out, they’ll let him try to win what he needs at the gaming tables.

Or he can try to become a contestant in the next Survivor game. (He would probably still where that suit, too.)

Or he can try to beat Ken Jennings’ record on Jeopardy! to get what he needs.

I wonder if he would be able to file for bankruptcy and get out of paying his lawyers at all?

Anyway, I’m not going to lose any sleep because Tom DeLay can’t afford to defend himself.

  10. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Sorry. That should have read “wear that suit.” I know how to spell. I just don’t know enough to spell-check myself. Apologies to all literate people out there.

  11. mr ho says:

Tom Delay according to Rush Limbaughs Liberal News has joined the Rust Limpwad crowd of Emotional Pundrity.
Delay has become, according to Rush a WHINEY Liberal, who wants HANDOUTS?
Aye you better consuly your spiritual adviser Tom.

The Rush Neo-Kooks Have, on this FIne Day, Become just as Big, and as much of a Hypocrite as Rush Limbaugh.

That Bastion of Misleading Knowledge and Third Grade Diatribe

Rush Limbaugh supportsEmotional Punditry thru Delay, and also thru Alitos and his Wifes courtroom Melodrama.

Alitos shall be termed, in Rush-amentary english

  12. Clif says:

Maybe he’s starting to get the Karma kickback

  13. Zwack says:

Does this mean that he will have to file for Bankruptcy…

That would be such a delicious irony…

    Z.

  14. Clif says:

No all his pals will bail him out………….
if they would just start returning his calls.

Hey maybe he can start a lobbying firm I hear they make alot of money there………………

  15. Zookeeper says:

#9 – Wayne, I would love to see DeLay on Survivor. I would start watching the program to see that!

  16. Yachts and Lattes says:

I believe in the entrepeneurial spirit of America. Mr. DeLay owned a small business before–an extermination service, ironically (takes a pest to know a pest, I guess). Let him go back to work to pay his bills.

  17. kindness says:

I don’t think the repubs or their corporate masters will bail out DeLay. They are cheap bastards and don’t throw money at losing causes. They can read the writing on the wall.

Give it up Tom. Spend a couple of years watching your backside in the shower, get paroled, and come out and live off the college speech circuit.

  18. Wayne A. Schneider says:

And besides, wasn’t he told when he was arrested that if he couldn’t afford an attorney, one would be appointed for him? What’s the matter? Public defender not good enough for you, Tom? If it’s good enough for those that can’t afford pricey lawyers, it should be good enough for you.

  19. Keith H. says:

Bummer dude, sorry about your future … NOT!!!

  20. Lily says:

I’m sure his best buddy Chris Matthews will help him out.

  21. RunningDogLackey says:

I think DeLay and Abramoff should both be driven out to the Choctaw Reservation, stripped naked, painted blue and released — blindfolded — with a slap on the ass, a hearty “Hoka-Hey!” and 3-minute head start.

  22. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    #22 RDL,

Now if they did that and made it a pay-per-view to raise money for DeLay (if he survives), then that I would pay to see.

  23. Lily says:

    Comment by Wayne A. Schneider

    I totally agree.

  24. Innocent Bystander says:

Here’s a suggestion Tom. Shakedown Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwall for some of that $7BB AIDs money you privateers have thrown their way. Sure, most of it will go for bribes to grease the 2006/2008 elections, but there should be enough pocket change left for defending the Republican Syndicate. Like any good business, you have to invest money to make money.

  25. Granite State Destroyer says:

    Tom Delay, meet General Custer.

The great hoop of life is a bitch!

  26. Lily says:

Off topic, but weren’t the Bush/Abramoff pictures going to be released right after the SotU?

  27. gordon a. cronin says:

let each one of the vapid clods who “supported”
Delay give him a penny (for his thoughts or whatever).

it is a rare occasion to witness the well-deserved
plight of a true “bad guy”. enjoy it while we can.

when he is convicted, Bush will pardon him or will it
be Alito? (now, there is a REAL NERD!)

  28. Clif says:

#27 Just the entry logs of the white house,

they’re still trying to airbrush Jeff Gannon out

  29. Wayne A. Schneider says:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

The truth to the Bush Administration is like sunlight to a vampire.

  30. Blue State Red says:

Thanks for letting me know. I’ll send him a check today.

  31. For Truth says:

    22#,

Beautiful, I love a great laugh, lol

  32. kindness says:

Send two bsr. we’ve all heard your penchant for corrupt republicans.

  33. Gregor Samsa says:

Thanks for letting me know. I’ll send him a check today.
    Comment by Blue State Red — February 1, 2006 @ 1:11 pm

Make sure your check covers a significant portion of the roughly $500,000 he still owes his lawyers -you do want to help him make a dent in that debt, yes?

While you write it, think of the 85% of House Republicans who have not contributed to their ethically challenged leader’s legal defence fund.

Even they stayed away from the corruption stench.

  34. Marie says:

Poor baby, maybe he can get a loan from Abramoff or one of the legislators he bribed. Or maybe one of his christian brotherhood friends, Reed, Robertson, Falwell, and many others who feign christianity while they live their multi-millionaire status, in their golden cathedrals. The whole bunch of them should live in poverty for the rest of their days.

  35. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    #35 Marie,

You’re being too kind to them. Just poverty? No open festering sores of biblical proportions? No ninth inner circle of Hell for all who betray?

On the other hand, I suppose a long, healthy life as a poor person would be a just punishment. Then they can understand what their policies are doing to millions of Americans.

See everyone tomorrow (well, most of you, anyway.) We gotta go.

  36. Sharon Cox says:

Oh to bad, so sad. Not…Call the dictator in chief and see if he has an extra job for a lier and thief, bet he could find something for you to do Mr.Delay. Be sure and ask for the knee pads….

  37. unbelievable says:

Does this mean that he will have to file for Bankruptcy…

    Comment by Zwack — February 1, 2006 @ 12:05 pm

Almost makes your mouth water at the thought of it… :)

  38. Monica says:

Ohhhh, this outta get good. I’ll bet he turns on alot of those “ethical” house Republicans who refused to support him in his time of need. Bwahaha.
