Now, considering that five more Americans, and probably many more Iraqis, were killed yesterday, if only he would be as vocal in urging that U.S. troops be withdrawn from that country. The longer that U.S. troops remain, the more likely it is that they will continue to get picked off by the insurgents, whose fervent goal is to drive the invader from their land. The last thing that the terrorists want is for the United States military to leave Iraq and for people like Feingold to speak out in favor of withdrawal. They realize that if the Americans were to leave, it would make it more difficult to attract more followers to their cause. Feingold and the rest of the Democrats aren’t helping by sitting on the sidelines and remaining mute about bringing the troops home.

To quote a line from The Goodbye Girl, I wouldn’t care if Feingold was a “one-eyed Episcopolian kangaroo”, as long as he does put forth some progressive ideas, such as announcing that the best course of action for the United States to take is to call it a day and to begin withdrawal of U.S. troops as expeditiously as possible. If not, as I mentioned earlier, those troops will continue to be picked off like ducks in a shooting gallery.

February 2nd, 2006 at 11:15 pmWhat the people of this country do not know [because they have been lied to] is that our troops are standing between two factions in a civil war and are are being targeted by both. A recent poll in Iraq showed that 80% of the Iraqi people want us to just pack up and leave. And, that is what we should do. We are the problem, we’re in the way.
If we leave tomorrow the Iraqi’s will settle it among themselves and whoever wins will kill or drive out the 750 to 1000 actual outside terrorists in their country. They don’t want them there and they would certainly be more qualified and efficient at getting them uncovered and out of there that we ever could.
We might as well resign ourselves to committing to deal with whoever winds up in control of Iraq. One thing is self eveident. It will never be us and only a group of idiots like Bush, Cheny, Rumsfeld, and the rest of the “Masters of the Universe” crowd could have ever considered that we would.

February 3rd, 2006 at 7:59 amRuss is my Senator, and I consider him to be one of the true political heroes we Wisconsinites regularly turn out — men like Bob LaFollette, Gaylord Nelson and Bill Proxmire.
As a presidential candidate, however, he’s got several strikes against him. He’s Jewish, he’s been divorced twice and is currently unmarried, and worst of all, he’s a U.S. Senator. That means the Republicans can do to him what they did to John Kerry — turn every procedural vote on every omnibus spending bill into a vote to “raise taxes” or “deny supplies to our troops” while the press stands by and refuses to correct the record.
I think President Feingold would be a beautiful thing. But, sadly, it ain’t gonna happen.

If you are looking for someone to run then Edwards/Sanders
Not Belt way boys. Edwards went against Kerry over NAFTA
in primaries, told Kerry not to concede, trial lawyer
for children and will fight for us like our mayor who
is trial lawyer, family man, TV does not do him justice
in person his speach is mesmerizing, his father and
him textile workers, union members. Gephardt was
against NAFTA in some weird way we were not and
unions only because they were hurting. But Edwards
against NAFTA way we are and the unions are against them.
Family man.
Sanders is Independant but far better night and day
difference from McCain who Kerry wanted for vp.
He has been Rep for Vermont since l991 and when
Independant Senator Jeffords retires in 2006 will
become Senator for Vermont. Democrats are backing
him in Senate race because he votes Democratic which
means he votes Democratic more than the demorats.
My brother in law and son who are from Vermont are Independants too.
I guess most people in Vermont Independant although
they were for Dean they both are for Edwards/Sanders
in 2008. And know from them that Sanders is for the
people, fights for the people and his signature
is the elderly. And not just them we are from Illinois
and want Edwards/Sanders. Just as my nephew from Iowa
for Edwards and calls Sanders the great hope.
So not just speaking for us on Edwards/Sanders but
a group of people.
You know Edwards, but check out Rep Sanders of
Vermont website and ask the people of Vermont
about Sanders.
For Edwards/Sander know they are gold but will vote

Scary similarities between these “accidents”. Both killed Dem. Senators, just weeks before tight races, that they were favored to win. What a coincidence. And several years ago there was that plane crash that killed George W.’s old business partner, Selim Bin Laden. Democrats in tight races this year should not fly right befor the election. Just to be on the safe side…. or at least safe from a plane crash.
February 3rd, 2006 at 3:41 pmBTW, Feingold has repeatedly and often called for a timetable for withdrawal of U.S. troops in Iraq, as well as being one of the few Democrats to vote against going to war with Iraq in the first place and the *only* Senator to vote against the Patriot Act. So this isn’t the first time he stood on principle and said “No” to neo-con lies and power grabs.
