The House leadership election to replace Tom DeLay has run into some problems. Apparently more ballots were cast than there are members. They’re re-voting now.
WASHINGTON (AP) — In the race to replace scandal-scarred Rep. Tom DeLay as House majority leader, one contender claims 120 votes, another boasts 90 and the third says he has about 50.
They can’t all be right, since the totals claimed by Republican Reps. Roy Blunt, John Boehner and John Shadegg far exceed the 232 lawmakers eligible to vote when the rank and file selects a new leader for an era of political peril.
And people think an election can’t be rigged. The Republicans are rigging their own vote.
I wonder what the breakdown was of who got how many legal votes and who got how many illegal votes. Were the excessive votes all for one of the candidates, or were they spread out among the three of them? Just curious. But since I’m sure no record of that vote will be kept, we may never know.
When a person is faced with the unavoidable reality that their lifelong belief system is shattered, it often leads to a personal crisis, or “nervous breakdownâ€, or “rock bottom†like when addicts’ belief systems can no longer be defended. Sometimes it results in homocides/suicides, going “postalâ€. Like when my Republican father-in-law discovered that 30 years of dedicated service to Honeywell, which took him away from his family, was all for not, he started drinking more, and carried a shotgun in his vehicle, we were worried, but he seems to have settled down now.
So go easy on those poor Republican congressmen, they are only trying to avoid having to be hospitalized for a nervous breakdown.
#8 – They won’t buy a vote machine that works because they couldn’t rig the system.
Imagine for a moment what would happen if We The People used ATM’s that were are rigged as the voting machines are (hello Diebold!). Do you think we would stand for it? No! Of course we wouldn’t. We don’t like the idea of banks being off by even a penny, unless it’s in our favor. Which you know it never will be.
But with electronic voting machines they have been built specifically to be subverted. Which is why Canada’s paper hand count system is accurate and our sometimes electronic vote tally system is not.
This news item made my day. Cheatfest 2006 has begun! You’d think they’d be just a little smarter about it. I guess republicans aren’t any good at math. Damn, how hard is it to add up the number of members voting. Idiots…..funny idiots…but idiots nontheless.
To all, I posted this on another thread (I see this one is perfect) and will post it on a couple of others. Sorry to be “in your face†but I need assistance from you.
Please provide to me links (you don’t have to actually link them here, just tell me where to find them) of articles and/or statistics regarding Diebold. TN is getting new voting machines! We have a choice between Diebold (over my dead body), Hart and ESS.
First, I need info and input on all of these makers. I must get LOTS of information regarding Diebold especially. Since Diebold refuses to back themselves up with paper, that alone has our commission worried. Even though most of the repulicans don’t care about the paper, they have to LOOK like they care so I have a GREAT opportunity here.
This wasn’t really a leadership contest, it was a contest to see whose crew were the biggest cheats. And guess what, (battle-hardened) Team Ohio came through.
Interesting that there was a similar occurance last time Jeb Bush ran for governor. I wish I had links, but I read it in a local newspaper at the time. In one district (I believe in the Naples area), there were supposedly around 10,000 more votes counted than voters. We were later assured that the error was corrected. Again, no doubt, by Diebold.
I was watching CNN and thr capitol reporter was trying to hide the smirk as the set up questions were asked, and he reported the “small problem” of more votes than voters in an Republican only election for majority leader, his look as he reported the story was well even here, they’ll even cheat on each other. The look was priceless
Ain’t that Amazin’ I bet Blunt threw in those extra’s along with Sennesbrenner .. Did Delay vote also? prolly he threw in a few extra for his man.You can always trust a Republican to be more crooked than a country road in Midland or Crawford TX…..
I don’t know if it will help, but there are also some scientific studies on how the exit poll being 2.9% wrong in the other direction is a 1 in 16 million shot, because they are usually right by some tiny margin.
#23 Thanks – meeting tomorrow. I’ll let you know. I’m pulling an all nighter and will make this count. I am in no high position, but I am very close to some that are. I am elated that I can make a difference and see it happen immediately.
I know there are already mixed feelings regarding Diebold. Even the dumbest clam has heard of Ohio and their debacle.
Blunt rigged the first balloting, and still came up short. You see, these pukes cant even hold an honest election in a super secret, locked up room.
However, I am happy to see Boner in there. He is the weakest link.Ohio politics, remember. Crooked as a lamp shade knocked akilter.
The man is in the hip pocket of the tobacco industry and has received millions from them. Check out his net worth now and compare it to how it was for him 20 years ago. You will be amazed at how much wealth a man can garner in such a short time.
Sorry to be a spoiler, but apparently the Republicans didn’t ‘rig’ the vote, they just forgot that the Representative from Puerto Rico, Luis Fortuno, could vote in the party’s caucus even though he can’t vote on legislation.
Wow, is anyone else shocked that republican politicians were involved in vote rigging? The republicans claim to be the party of ‘reform’, but I think it might be the party of ‘reform school dropouts’ these days. Poor things. So desperate for power that they’ll screw each other.
Hilarious.
February 2nd, 2006 at 1:21 pmYou mean there aren’t normally 20 aces in a deck of cards?
These guys will cheat at anything. It’s the only way they can ever win anything.
February 2nd, 2006 at 1:21 pmWow. Did they use Diebold machines to vote with?
February 2nd, 2006 at 1:22 pmI brought this up the other day:
CNN
January 30, 2006
One plus one equals three in GOP leadership race
And people think an election can’t be rigged. The Republicans are rigging their own vote.

February 2nd, 2006 at 1:26 pmRepubs just can’t help themselves. Now every election will be rigged!!!!
February 2nd, 2006 at 1:27 pmimagine they can have computers to track millions of bits of Data.
And we cant even get congress to buy a Vote machine that works. Heck even if it did work as spudge Says, it proves the Ballot Stuffing thats going on.
Despicable

February 2nd, 2006 at 1:35 pmIronic to some; predictable to others.
February 2nd, 2006 at 1:43 pmDiebold is surely behind it… see, this proves that this party cannot be trusted with elections… they cheat against their own kind!

February 2nd, 2006 at 2:13 pmAP on the final ballot:
does mean what i think it means? blunt won the “inconclusive” ballot, and then boehner won the unrigged ballot?

February 2nd, 2006 at 2:37 pmToo many votes for a Republican candidate?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but they must be using Diebold Voting Machines.

Ironically enough there’s a Reform Ohio website that has info on their rigged 2004 election.

I don’t know if it will help, but there are also some scientific studies on how the exit poll being 2.9% wrong in the other direction is a 1 in 16 million shot, because they are usually right by some tiny margin.

You should also take a look at the report from the General Accounting Office about election security. It was released last fall. It can be found here:

February 2nd, 2006 at 3:50 pmI wonder, was it a “Roll-Call” vote? Gawd, they just can’t help/stop themselves, can they? Too funny!! Can’t wait to hear the RW spin on THIS one!
