Plame was covert:

Plame was covert:»

Special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald “found that Plame had indeed done ‘covert work overseas’ on counterproliferation matters in the past five years, and the CIA ‘was making specific efforts to conceal’ her identity, according to newly released portions of a judge’s opinion.” Scooter Libby’s lawyers and White House allies “have repeatedly questioned whether Plame…really had covert status when she was outed to the media in July 2003.”

    Well, if true, that would deflate one of Libby’s arguments wouldn’t it?

  2. Gus, the Loving OBGYN Says:

    So? Giving up Plame was a political decision. Until America casts out this current government out I really don’t see the point in these Plame/Fitz/Rove/Libby stories.
    The past couple of days Muslims are burning down embassies because someone drew a freaking picture of Mohammed. It really doesn’t take much for Americans to get back on the anti-Islam bandwagon. Likewise, they will cast aside their concern for Plame and other illegal behaviors from this government.

  3. Marie Says:

    Of course, Plame was covert — the CIA demanded an investigation because they felt betrayed by their own government, putting anyone of them at risk at the whim of a White House politician.
    I am afraid that Gus is right. The public will quickly get back on the anti-Islam-at-any-cost bandwagon, and freely give the govt. any powers they want.
    As it is, people still don’t grasp the potential enormity of what is being debated — everything our forefathers fought for is at risk. Tyranny is at the door.

  4. Buckley Roberts Says:

    Wasn’t she married already? That’s basically being outed. And her neighbors knew that she lived in a house so, really, Fitzgerald should stop this witchhunt. I mean if her husband knew she was a spy then it was only a matter of time before the world found out. So we should cut Libby (and Rove?) some slack.

  5. cats are flyfishn Says:

    It’s interesting that now that Libby’s testimony can be made public, Dick Cheney is exposed as the person who informed Libby of Valerie Plame’s CIA covert identity. Hang um high!

  6. cats are flyfishn Says:

    #4 - Actually, it is not a matter of time until Valerie Plame’s neighbors found out that she was a spy. She had a job description which didn’t include CIA agent. That’s what’s meant by ‘covert’.

  7. Sharon Cooper Says:

    So what else is new? Libby is probably just like Rove, and Rove’s whole modus operandi has been to do vindictive along these lines things to those who oppose those he works for throughout his ENTIRE career, not just Bush. Until these people are exposed and convicted along with their handlers, we can only expect more of the same. Who knows what they are holding over the heads of others who oppose these criminals? If this investigation had been allowed to go to through to its natural conclusion, it probably would have led up the entire food chain. As it is, we can probably only hope that Libby takes the fall for what is a systemic problem within the circles of this administration. Evil is just not a word strong enought to cover it.

  8. BRockNYLA Says:

    yet, watch the right continue to claim that she was not covert. they have denied reality in the past and will continue to do it now.

    this is a unique opening for the Democrats on the question of national security. we need to borrow from Rove’s playbook and go directly after them on the question of protecting our agents. every time they defend Rove and Libby they are proving what we all know and understand - that they choose the Republican Party over the Constitution and America.

    Gus has hit the Nail on the Head. The main Problem Lies within Congress and its Blind Allegiance to ONE country. A country I remind you, thru AIPAC, and Franklin have used to Steal documents for the Israel.
    I am not Anti-semitic. I am against Media Propaganda and the Blind Allegiance to ONE COUNTRY.

    “Israel does not spy on the United States of America.”
    – Mark Regev, a spokesman at the Israeli embassy in Washington

    Prior to 9/11, the FBI had discovered the presence of a massive spy ring inside the United States run by the government of Israel. This seems a harsh gratitude from a nation which obtains 10% of its annual budget from the American taxpayer, $3+ billion a year. Over the years, American taxpayers have been required to send Israel more than four times what the US spent to go to the moon.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    On October 3, 2001, I.A.P. News reported that according to Israel Radio (in Hebrew) Kol Yisrael an acrimonious argument erupted during the Israeli cabinet weekly session last week between Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and his foreign Minister Shimon Peres. Peres warned Sharon that refusing to heed incessant American requests for a cease-fire with the Palestinians would endanger Israeli interests and “turn the US against us. “Sharon reportedly yelled at Peres, saying “don’t worry about American pressure, we the Jewish people control America.”
    “The Israelis control the policy in the congress and the senate.”
    – Senator Fullbright, Chair of Senate Foreign Relations Committee: 10/07/1973 on CBS’ “Face the Nation”.
    “I am aware how almost impossible it is in this country to carry out a foreign policy [in the Middle East] not approved by the Jews….. terrific control the Jews have over the news media and the barrage the Jews have built up on congressmen …. I am very much concerned over the fact that the Jewish influence here is completely dominating the scene and making it almost impossible to get congress to do anything they don’t approve of. The Israeli embassy is practically dictating to the congress through influential Jewish people in the country”
    —–Sec. of State John Foster Dulles quoted on p.99 of Fallen Pillars by Donald Neff
    The long history of bipartisan Congressional support for Israel led former Secretary of State James Baker to call the Congress “The Little Knesset” after Israel’s Knesset (parliament) in Jerusalem. Congress’s embarrassing and unpatriotic display of allegiance to a foreign country that is dependent on American largesse and support is the unknown scandal to the American people. With the media’s strong, biased and sympathetic portrayal of Israel while simultaneously denying any opposing view of Israel or human pictures and stories of the endless suffering of Palestinians, its no wonder that we the American people are so unaware of the true face of Israel. Thus shockingly but not surprisingly only 4 % of the American people are aware of Israel’s 34 year brutal military occupation of the Palestinian people.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Only at times of war and threat upon the U.S. does our Senate ever exhibit the strong bipartisanship support of America it regularly provides Israel. Despite our current crisis in airline security, Congressional political bickering continued for weeks between Republicans and Democrats placing American lives at risk while foreign aid to Israel was quick and automatic (about $6 Billion), even at a time the Congress is telling us of budget deficits and lack of money for the unemployed American workers. As an American I am outraged at the blind historical allegiance our Senators have provided Israel while they neglect many of our pressing domestic issues such as airline security, Social Security and Medicare Reform, Education Reform, Health Insurance for needy Americans, Money for Dilapidated Schools, and Prescription Coverage for our Elderly. Our Congress operates on the premise that most Americans are disinterested in foreign policy thus they have a vacuum to provide Israel with blank checks and our latest F-16 fighter jets that Israel uses to kill Palestinian civilians. They depend on our media to keep us uninformed and distracted with Sports, Harry Potter, and scandals.

    As I said I would give the Shirt off my back to one whom asks for it. These Underhanded Manipulations, By ANY group or Nation is harming our Democracy and helping to Corrupt our Congress.

    Israel is why Democrats don’t hold Republicans accountable for their crimes. At the end of the day most of their campaigns on both sides recieve AIPAC money.
    And the average American doesn’t know the first thing about Israeli people or it’s history.
    Leaders getting money from Israel is no different than Delay getting money from Russians.

  14. Max-1 Says:

    I just can’t wait when the truth comes out on this matter.

    The way I see it:

    Libby and Rove were flie on the walls in Dick Cheaney’s company.

  16. TJM Says:

    Joe Wilson is still a liar and the SSCI said so,too.

    The fact that Cheney told Libby about Plame means nothing. Whatever wrongdoing occurred,it happened when Libby and/or Rove or both told reporters that information.Cheney may have orchestrated the plan to discredit Wilson,but unless the “missing” e-mails can be retrieved,I don’t see how you can pin it on him.

  17. jackovel Says:

    Does Valerie Palme even exist?

  18. jackovel Says:

    Plame, sorry

  19. Spudge_Boy Says:

    If Plame was covert as has been proven now, it makes whoever outted her a traitor to the United States for jeopardzing national security.

    Whoever did it should be hung.

  23. John the Elder Says:

    In the light of this imformation, why is Robert Novak not in jail, charged with treason. He revealed her name, knowing full well what it would mean. I am convinced he did it because the party asked him to do so. We already know that he is a Republican hack.

    No, her neighbors did not know she worked for CIA!!! That information was released by press prior to any indictments. If you haven’t followed the story in the media, you shouldn’t be blogging it.

    I don’t understand how anyone is still
    saying this.
    Bush lied about firing anyone involved with
    the leak. McClellan lied about Rove and
    Libby not being involved. Libby lied when he
    said Tim Russert was the source. Rove
    lied when he said “didn’t know her name, didn’t leak
    her name.”
    And WILSON is the liar? I don’t get it. I don’t
    fucking get it.

  32. WaltTheMan Says:

  33. Peeping Tom the Retardlican Says:

    The Wilsons endangered our national security by not being loyal to Fearful Stinker the Sinker. They will be shot.

  34. L'Angelo Mysterioso Says:

    Cheney’s worst shot was at Joeseph Wilson. His vindictiveness let Colin Powell check
    on the hard intel on WMD’s. That led to an ultimatum to Dubya, those responsible go
    or he would. What decision did you expect from a Pres. who places loyalty to friends
    above nat’l interest. Fitzgerald now armed with “deleted E-Mails” will now take down
    dirty Dick. In addition it serves no purpose for the intel people to try to silence Colin,
    because these E-Mails are enough by themselves.
