February 8th, 2006 at 6:12 pmLooking forward to it. Bush and Abramoff together will be an excellent addition to the poster of the “Banana Republicans.”
February 8th, 2006 at 6:13 pmI’m with Spudge_Boy on this. E-mail them to us now!
I hope we get to see all of the pictures taken that day with the President – not just the ones with Jack. Let’s look at the body language of the president to see if you can tell which people are people he never met before and which ones are people he’s known a long time.
If after examining all the photos I can’t tell which people the president knew and which ones he didn’t, then I’ll start to believe that the pictures are “irrelevant”. Until then, it is up to US to decide the pictures’ relevance. Not Reflections, and certainly not the White House.
February 8th, 2006 at 6:20 pmIt’s good to see that they are finally coming out. Just like ‘Fitzmas’ this has taken way too long for this impatient Democrat.
February 8th, 2006 at 6:30 pmOk, I want to see the photos. The details around it don’t matter. Get the pictures out.
February 8th, 2006 at 6:36 pmI hope we get to see all of the pictures taken that day with the President – not just the ones with Jack.
Good point, Wayne. The comparison would be interesting.
February 8th, 2006 at 6:44 pm#6 Zookeeper,
Thanks. All I want is a chance to decide for myself what is relevant and what is not. I do not want to have to accept the word of a mendacious White House that there is nothing of significance to see in the pictures.
February 8th, 2006 at 6:56 pmExclusive new details about the photos of Abramoff with President Bush. Be the first to know —
New details about the photos of Abramoff with President Bush? Brilliant!
Another day, another rabbit hole. The Clintons had their pictures taken with money launderers and drug kingpins. Did that make them criminals? Did that make them corrupt?
You lefties have been out in the fever swamp so long you’ve forgotten the new ethical lows to which you brought us during the 1990s. You spent the Clinton years excusing one failing after another with a so what?/old news attitude. Well, congratulations, because American voters hardly pay any attention anymore to splashy scandals in the MSM – regardless of party affiliation.
If you want proof you need look no further than Plamegate, which has dropped completely off the radar screen. It seems the MSM is getting uncomfortable now with this idea of investigating national security leaks. One Judy Miller makes a good poster child for freedom of the press, but we can’t have the entire editorial boards of the NYT and the WaPo going to jail, now can we? I think that’s what TP calls “braindead media” thinking.
Today, after 5 years of President Bush, the best you all can do is holler “Bush spied” and “culture of corruption.” Neither one will help you win on Election Day 2006. You have to win elections with the strength of your ideas, and there are no ideas left in the fever swamp.
February 8th, 2006 at 6:58 pm#8 Whatever. Have fun in the gulag.
February 8th, 2006 at 7:00 pmBSR,
Post the damn pictures or STFU.
February 8th, 2006 at 7:03 pmIt’s true the people don’t care about the scandals, but I hardly doubt that is because of Clinton.
And I love how you act like the arguments of “Bush spied†and “culture of corruption.†are not a bad thing. Bush also lied to us about the war, and forced the war without needing too. I know you don’t beleive that what Bush is doing is old news.
Actually, no where in that post did you EXCUSE Bush for any of that, so perhaps you’re making progress.
The ideas from the Dems have indeed been a bit mute, but they are out there – you can find them on sites like this, as well as the DNC. All the Democratic grass roots groups have ideas too. We just have to work on getting those who work for us to actually listen up.
February 8th, 2006 at 7:12 pmthis is what I want to know about: “…the Clinton years excusing one failing after another…”
February 8th, 2006 at 7:13 pmWHAT FAILINGS??? elaborate please…just the FACTS…no lies…
Oh you tease!!!
February 8th, 2006 at 7:13 pmExcept for all of the democrat ideas Bush stole for his SOTU and then renigged on the next day.
BTW BSR Staying the course is not an idea.
February 8th, 2006 at 7:26 pmI like the newsletter, too.
February 8th, 2006 at 7:32 pmPlease don’t sell advertisments.
CAP and TP are really in a category all their own.
Please don’t change!
That’s ‘renegged’ Spudge_Boy, I don’t want any Repug racist leaping on that one.
February 8th, 2006 at 7:34 pmOops – ‘reneged’
February 8th, 2006 at 7:42 pmWaltTheMan,
I am not an English major as you can probably tell. :) I am technical and a researcher.
February 8th, 2006 at 7:42 pmwhy the fuss about Bush and Abramoff? It’s obvious they are linked from their multiple dealings over a long period of time – offspring chats (K Street Project notwithstanding). I do not understand the importance of photo ‘evidence’ as this seems a distraction from the real issues:
Bush lied to the American public about;
1. Iraq WMD.
2. Iran WMD – they don’t have them yet – and are years away, but the petroeuro isn’t.
3. Warantless domestic spying “ordering the secret surveillance of American citizens†.
4. Bush said; “Appropriate Members of Congress have been kept informed.†Oh no they weren’t…….. the non-partisan Congressional research service concluded that “the Bush administration broke the law by not informing the full Intelligence Committees”.
5. Realistic support for Katrina victims (+ then stonewalling on investigations).
6. American dependence on oil (claiming funding research in biofuels while actually cutting funds for biofuel research).
7. American security (not bothered by OBL + still @ large).
8. Reasons for American isolationism.
9. Increasing poverty (N/Orleans + ref. Rev. Dr. Joseph Lowery comments).
10. coming to the aid of fellow citizens in times of suffering and emergency (N/Orleans reality compared to SOTU speech).
11. Public responsibility – claimed by Bush’s SOTU speech yet: Karl Rove/Plame, Abramoff contacts, connections to indicted Repugs continue.
12. Encouraging more (math) and science yet proclaiming ‘I/Design and evolution should be taught side by side’ + cutbacks in science education.
13. Cutting ‘dependence’ on foreign oil while implementing bills that rely on foreign oil. (U.S. House Committee on Government Reform).
14. HSA promises that realistically reduce American people’s ability overall to have affordable healthcare.
15. Budget lies – “our budget will run a deficit that will be small and short-term”. The 2005 U.S. budget deficit was $319 billion, the third-largest ever. (TP SOTU coverage)
16. Surveillance problems were the reason pre 9/11 terrorists were not detained when in fact it was beaurocracy.
17. “Previous presidents have used the same constitutional authority I have.†SOTU speech……all lies, debunked : the law was changed in 1995.
18. Supporting the American military : Bush; “We must……stand behind the American military in its vital mission.†while failing to provide body armour.
19. Claiming to ’support’ Iraq (SOTU 2006) while (yet again) installing puppet Presidents that must suffer economic, political and security instability.
20. Claiming the ‘military high ground’ in Afghanistan/elsewhere while USA troops die as the Taliban adopt suicide missions to defend their country from invasion and the global threat of terrorism increases.
21. Bush on the Constitution: Bush on the Constitution: ‘It’s just a goddamned piece of paper’ Oh no it’s not, it’s legally binding and you must live by the pledges you take i.e. to uphold and defend the Constitution!
22. Downing Street memos and the real reasons Bush went into Iraq “the crime of misleading the American people and Congress into waging an unnecessary and brutal war in Iraqâ€.
23. CIA planes and torture on board them in Europe and elsewhere (“torturing human beings in violation of the Geneva Conventionâ€).
24. Sending American people to jail on the merest suspicion, refusing them lawyers, and either holding them indefinitely or deporting them in the dead of night.
25. Moving closer each day to a Theocracy, where a narrow and hateful brand of Christian fundamentalism will rule e.g. denying women the right to birth control and abortion (Alito et al.).
For the reasons above Bush must be impeached. Good God America, how many more reasons are needed?
February 8th, 2006 at 7:52 pmShouldn’t it be: fill the form out to the left? Does the progress report come with pain killers? More filling less crust? Will I still get my IRI & MAfrodity?
February 8th, 2006 at 8:03 pmSpudge_Boy,
February 8th, 2006 at 8:08 pmI’ve been into computers since 1959. Designed hardware, programmed them, tested them, fixed them and debugged them (both hardware and software). English is hardly my forte. :-)
Blue State Red,
After reading your rants, I am often left with impression that everytime you use the expression “fever swamp” you are actually projecting.
What’s with your obsession with winning? Has it occurred to you not everyone in this blog is a Democrat? Have you considered the possibility that this is not about winning but about what’s right? Of course not…
February 8th, 2006 at 8:13 pmWaltTheMan,

February 8th, 2006 at 8:15 pmWhoops, should have added carriage returns.
February 8th, 2006 at 8:16 pmGary, #21, Article II of the Constitution is their trump card for all of your well reasoned impeachable offenses. I would like to think that Karl Rove, the Attorney General and the Vice President will go down before the President. Think about it most people, the ones Whack job thinks he knows, would feel it’s better to have all the knights go out before the king. I question the notion that the NYTIMES was allowed to posses classified information, and then release it. If we can’t tell congress about a program but the NY Times can be asked not to publish information that congress didn’t get, is that not a deriliction of his duty to uphold the laws? If it was so secret and still remains that way why was anyone allowed to obtain and posses it for any lenght of time , let alone a whole year.
February 8th, 2006 at 8:23 pmSpudge / Walt,
I love it! You guys made me laugh tonight! Thanks!
February 8th, 2006 at 8:28 pm#26 – Spudge_boy,
February 8th, 2006 at 8:37 pmI agree – the string contains the word ‘needs’. Do you want it all back?
I hate to burst everyones bubbles bu the post doesnt say anything about the pics being released. All it says is new details about the pics. Hopefully we will see them, but I think they are still buried.
February 8th, 2006 at 8:40 pmFor the reasons above Bush must be impeached. Good God America, how many more reasons are needed?
Okay you convinced me. Let’s get Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid on a conference call right now to begin plotting our impeachment startegy. I mean, with the American people behind us we can do anything, right?
Oh, sorry, for a minute I forgot how much the American people hate impeachment, even when it is justified by legitimate charges of lying under oath and obstruction of justice. Even with control of Congress, there is not a chance that the Dems would succeed in impeaching Bush – but I hope they try anyway.
You’ll forgive me if I pray, every day, that Pelosi and Reid do try to impeach the President. That sure will go down well on Election Day 2006!
February 8th, 2006 at 8:52 pmWell once again the evil incarnates in our white house have screwed us. Off topic….Bush submitted a privatization of Social Security bill in with his budget to congress on Monday. Wish every one would of known about this yesterday before Carettas funeral, now know why he looked so nervious in the background. See how this slimy cancerious bunch do, keep our heads full of bull sh** while they dismantel the country and constitution. I don’t realy care if there are pictures of Bush and Jack—-off, I want this scum bag impeached and our troops home….
February 8th, 2006 at 9:06 pm‘details’ is a bit vague. Something less than actual pictures?
BTW the pictures wouldn’t have been such a problem for Bush if he’d just been open about it. The fact that they’re on a scrubbing campaign just makes it look like there’s something to hide. If, as you say, the Clintons had pictures taken with everybody then Bush should have no problem letting out the same.
February 8th, 2006 at 9:12 pmonly a bit off topic – still related to the fact that another administration is floundering in a criminal cesspool…
i found the following from a post (#538) in the “video: rev.lowery” thread…
http://www.fas.org/irp/offdocs/walsh/ – Final Report of the Independent Counsel for Iran/contra Matters…
i skipped to “Concluding Observations”…awsome…
this is especially relavent, copies should be sent out to each member of Congress today:
“Final Thoughts
The Iran/contra investigation will not end the kind of abuse of power that it addressed any more than the Watergate investigation did. The criminality in both affairs did not arise primarily out of ordinary venality or greed, although some of those charged were driven by both. Instead, the crimes committed in Iran/contra were motivated by the desire of persons in high office to pursue controversial policies and goals even when the pursuit of those policies and goals was inhibited or restricted by executive orders, statutes or the constitutional system of checks and balances.
The tone in Iran/contra was set by President Reagan. He directed that the contras be supported, despite a ban on contra aid imposed on him by Congress. And he was willing to trade arms to Iran for the release of Americans held hostage in the Middle East, even if doing so was contrary to the nation’s stated policy and possibly in violation of the law.
The lesson of Iran/contra is that if our system of government is to function properly, the branches of government must deal with one another honestly and cooperatively. When disputes arise between the Executive and Legislative branches, as they surely will, the laws that emerge from such disputes must be obeyed. When a President, even with good motive and intent, chooses to skirt the laws or to circumvent them, it is incumbent upon his subordinates to resist, not join in. Their oath and fealty are to the Constitution and the rule of law, not to the man temporarily occupying the Oval Office. Congress has the duty and the power under our system of checks and balances to ensure that the President and his Cabinet officers are faithful to their oaths.“
February 8th, 2006 at 9:47 pmCalm down, people. When Bush said he didn’t know Abramoff, he meant it in the Biblical sense. He’s a Christian. God speaks to him and tells him how to run the country.
February 8th, 2006 at 9:49 pmoh yea – and BSR – i’m still waiting:
this is what I want to know about: “…the Clinton years excusing one failing after another…â€
WHAT FAILINGS??? elaborate please…just the FACTS…no lies…
Comment by katy — February 8, 2006 @ 7:13 pm
February 8th, 2006 at 9:53 pmWe can wait until after we have captured the House to start the impeachment proceedings. No point doing it before then. I don’t think there will be a trial of Bush and Dick or even formal filing of the articles. They will do the Nixonian thing and resign before it comes to that and Speaker Pelosi will become President (I think Speaker of the House is next in line of succession but maybe not).
February 8th, 2006 at 10:00 pmSorry it would be President Pro Tem Reid
February 8th, 2006 at 10:07 pmOr might they resign before the new Congress is sworn in to allow another Republican to become President
February 8th, 2006 at 10:11 pm“Oh, sorry, for a minute I forgot how much the American people hate impeachment, even when it is justified by legitimate charges of lying under oath and obstruction of justice. Oh sweetie, how the partisan brain makes you silly. The most public support that was ever created for impeaching Clinton was ~35%, whereas almost 55% of americans are in favor of impeaching bush if he did any number of individual crimes. See the american people have no problems impeaching a president who actually commits a serious crime, they’re just smarter than the partisan in realizing that hiding an affair doesn’t qualify as either a serious or even relevant crime to the job of presidency. Fabricating evidence for war, accepting bribes, illegal wiretapping in violation of the constitution and any number of other crimes that were probably committed by this regime seem to satisfy the american people nicely however.
See I don’t expect a partisan like yourself to be able to process facts, live in reality, or even see the difference between a real crime and a fake crime fabricated by rightwing partisans. But that’s OK pumpkin – I forgive you. Clearly your hatred, fear, anger and irrationality makes you post such silly and nonsensical little rants. Poor pumpkin – so much anger, and only if you would direct it at the real criminals the country would surely be a better place.
February 8th, 2006 at 10:24 pmBut of course the polls don’t matter at all. What matters is having the majority in Congress. So let’s work to get a more honest and accountable (Democratic) legislature into power, and then they can do the job of reining (firing) the executive branch since it has committed high crimes and misdemeanors.
February 8th, 2006 at 10:37 pmI’m more insterested in what TP means by more ‘details’. There aren’t many more details except the pics themselves…which seems to have been the suggestion?
February 9th, 2006 at 12:16 amForgive me for my lack of clarity – I have math exam – part of the lovely grad school econ program. woot.

“Oops, just noticed econ, without the period. Aren’t they using spread sheets in Economics yet?. Math is a thing of the past.”
Spreadsheets are a bit ‘underpowered’ Walt. I used Stata for analysis.
As for the math – it does happen to be the background for most of the work. Also, it happens to be required – so it isn’t as if I can get out of it.
The course is Real Analysis. It’s a drag.
Oh, and walt. Things like Linear Algebra plus modern Algebra help with the algorithms. You know, sort of like the stuff that powers google. Math matters to those guys. It’s how you can manipulate your ranking – they use a giant matrix to figure out the ‘importance’ of a site.
February 9th, 2006 at 7:52 amWalt,
Mostly though, math blows – you know that. Stata can do the work – the math is just forced on you:)
Finishing a MS just because I got offered a joint BS/MS quant econ BA Math. Next up is PhD. Microecon isn’t my thing either – although it is this departments. I’m muc more interest in macroecon.
