So, a convicted felon has greater credibility than the president of the united states. Grrrrreeeaaaatttt.

  5. dlet Says:

An indicted lobbyist is deemed more trustworthy than the President of the United States. If it wasn't so sad it would be funny.

  6. I-RIGHT-I Says:

This hasn't got anything to do with this thread but it's more interesting. Who cares if Bush remembers Jack or knows Jack? I know I don't.

    TODAY'S BIBLE LESSON

Cocky rap star KANYE WEST is calling for a revised edition of THE BIBLE, because he thinks he should be a character in it.

The JESUS WALKS hitmaker, who picked up three Grammy Awards last night (08FEB06), feels sure he'd be "a griot" (West African storyteller) in a modern Bible.

He says, "I bring up historical subjects in a way that makes kids want to learn about them. I'm an inspirational speaker.

"I changed the sound of music more than one time... For all those reasons, I'd be a part of the Bible. I'm definitely in the history books already."

This is what happens when you give gutter snipes too much money. Somebody should break it to the guy that the Bible doesn't need him as there's already a talking ass featured.

  7. crazy canuck Says:

I'm still amazed at how a president who had been caught in such a variety of lies is still in power. I hope you guys succeed in taking your country back and hold this present corrupt administration accountable.

Dubya is such a bad liar.

  8. Juizzee Says:

#6. You put up a post about Kanye West here? That is something you care about? What the hell? Go away!

  16. mr ho Says:

CAMBRIDGE, Md. The source of the latest leak from the Bush administration is: President Bush himself.
Thanks to an error by a White House technician, the sound of what were supposed to be private remarks to G-O-P House members was relayed to the White House press corps.

Bush made a brief public speech to lawmakers at their retreat on Maryland's Eastern Shore. He then shooed out reporters and photographers, saying, "I support the free press, let's just get 'em out of the room."

Once they were gone, Bush -- not realizing he was still audible -- said, "I expect this conversation we're about to have to stay in the room." He added, "I know that's impossible in Washington."

Bush then spoke for roughly two minutes on the war on terror and his warrantless eavesdropping program before the outside feed was switched off. On the surveillance, he repeated earlier assertions he'd cleared the program with top government lawyers.

At the moment, if George Bush told me that the sun rose in the East, I would ask for two independent, trustworthy witnesses. I don't believe anything that comes out of his mouth, including "is".

Not hard understand thsi poll when Peeping George routinely says things like this:

"We'll continue to work with the folks down there. But I want to remind the people in that part of the world, 85 billion dollars is a lot."

    George Bush

(And by "that part of the world" he means the U.S. Gulf Coast, White House, Jan. 26, 2006)

A lot for poor people, that is. If you were, oh say, the rich elitists of Congress, you could get it for oh, I don't know, a bridge to nowhere, for instance...

  23. unbelievable Says:

  36. Gregor Samsa Says:

Since we are talking about Pres. Bush's credibility and religion, here is another gem:

I am driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, "George go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan".

    And I did.

And then God would tell me "George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq".

    And I did.

And now, again, I feel God's words coming to me, "Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East".

And, by God, I'm gonna do it.
George Bush: "God told me to end the tyranny in Iraq"

  37. progressive and proud Says:

I agree that he will go down as the dumbest and worst president in history. It is pretty easy to see. One day, when all of these religious issues are moot, we will look back and laugh, like those that bled people to heal them, and wonder how people could have been so ignorant.

Oh yes, it is set for history, as long as the rube doesn't get us all blown up.

  38. Big Al Says:

The only surprising fact about the poll is that George Bush got as high as 22 percent. I would have thought Abramoff would have done better. He looks very crebible to me.

  39. Rightly So... Says:

#32 - coming from Kayne West, I take comfort in that. He is a class ASS and I pray he campaigns against Bush. Someone should ask Kayne the last time he slept with a black woman since he accuses everyone else of being a racist.

  41. Rightly So... Says:

#40 - actually, that's happening now. People are asking, why did we let Democrats and liberals dictate policy for so long? Some of us are laughing at how the country could have been so ignorant, too. But don't worry, we won't force our beliefs into our culture the way you did.

  42. mima Says:

I feel that this poll was grossly unfair to the president. His Majesty the King. How can a King(and he truly acts like a King) be compared with a commoner, with a lowly human being? This poll is unfair also in that it required an answer. When the sun is shining in-your-face do you have to be told it's daylight?

  43. Gerald Gibson Says:

"But don’t worry, we won’t force our beliefs into our culture the way you did.

    Comment by Rightly So."

Say What????? You have got to be kidding me with that statement! This administration has done nothing but do just that. Besides, when your more worried about a fetus than you are a baby then I would consider that passing your beliefs onto other people.

The Republicans care more for the fetus than they do for the baby after it is born. The proof is in the pooding. Cut in Healthcare, Food Stamps, Welfare, etc. Let's not worry about taking care of the children after their born, but lets make the mothers have them.

  46. Zwack Says:

    Foolishly So...

I know that this is way off topic.

When did Democrats and Liberals last dictate Policy?

    Last Democratic President? 2000.
Last time Democrats held the Senate majority? 2001-2003
Previous time Democrats held the Senate Majority? 1994
Last time Democrats held the House majority? 1994

So apart from a two year stint (2001-2003) Republicans have controlled Congress since 1994 and the executive branch since 2000.

So, given that the year is 2006 (that's two thousand and six) and Democrats haven't had any power for at least three years. Haven't been in charge of the Executive branch for six years and haven't had significant control of Congress in 12 years...

How can you claim that Liberals have dictated policy for "so long" or have you had a lobotomy?

So, you believe a story in the commie run Guardian as told by a Palestanian head chopper? Is that how your mind works? Loser.

But hey, I haven't asked God and I doubt I'd get an answer if I did but personally I don't think He would be too concerned if we were to invade Iran, kill their leaders and convert the rest to Christianity.

Tehran, Iran, Jan. 07 – An Iranian court has sentenced a teenage rape victim to death by hanging after she weepingly confessed that she had unintentionally killed a man who had tried to rape both her and her niece.

The state-run daily Etemaad reported on Saturday that 18-year-old Nazanin confessed to stabbing one of three men who had attacked the pair along with their boyfriends while they were spending some time in a park west of the Iranian capital in March 2005.

Nazanin, who was 17 years old at the time of the incident, said that after the three men started to throw stones at them, the two girls’ boyfriends quickly escaped on their motorbikes leaving the pair helpless.

She described how the three men pushed her and her 16-year-old niece Somayeh onto the ground and tried to rape them, and said that she took out a knife from her pocket and stabbed one of the men in the hand.

As the girls tried to escape, the men once again attacked them, and at this point, Nazanin said, she stabbed one of the men in the chest. The teenage girl, however, broke down in tears in court as she explained that she had no intention of killing the man but was merely defending herself and her younger niece from rape, the report said.

The court, however, issued on Tuesday a sentence for Nazanin to be hanged to death.

Last week, a court in the city of Rasht, northern Iran, sentenced Delara Darabi to death by hanging charged with murder when she was 17 years old. Darabi has denied the charges.

In August 2004, Iran’s Islamic penal system sentenced a 16-year-old girl, Atefeh Rajabi, to death after a sham trial, in which she was accused of committing “acts incompatible with chastity”.

The teenage victim had no access to a lawyer at any stage and efforts by her family to retain one were to no avail. Atefeh personally defended herself and told the religious judge that he should punish those who force women into adultery, not the victims. She was eventually hanged in public in the northern town of Neka.

  51. Rightly So... Says:

#48 - not true. Liberals have forced every state to allow partial birth abortion. You tried to stop funding boy scouts because they don't accept your gay agenda. You tried to stop school choice because some people might choose to go religious schools (oh - the horror!). Now, you are attacking the militarty for don't ask don't tell in the name of gay rights. You are the people hell bent on shoving your views on the coutry. Then, you call a large majority of Americans the Taliban because they don't agree with your leftist agenda. Too bad. Get over it. Keep your pants zipped if you're so worried about feeding unwanted children. Children go hungry because their idiot mothers don't want them not because we don't throw enough money at the loser mother. If you want to make a difference stop enabling the losers and start making them accountable. Teach your little girl to keep her hands out of the boy's pants and visa versa. Become accountable yourself. God is sick to death of murder being the answer to the liberal lack of self control.

    1) Can you prove that The Guardian is run by "Commies" or is this another of your baseless assertions and Ad Hominem attacks. It might seem to you to be Communist, but then you are so far to the right of the Political Spectrum that you probably consider the "National Front" to be a Socialist party who are soft on Immigration.

    2) WTF does the rest of your post have to do with anything under discussion?

Learn to debate or go back to sitting quietly drooling in your Mother's basement... That seems to be the one thing that you are good at.

The other one walked up to a priest after he had given a sermon at one of the New Zealand Cathedrals (Episcopalian if it matters) and asked him with a straight face if he knew that "The Saint James version is also called the Authorised Version because it was Authorised by Saint James, the brother of Jesus."

#50 umm, what exactly does that particular story have to do with President Bush's lack of credibility? Or have you been dying to use it and have not found a better place. I'm sure the Saudi press is full of similar stories, so what's your point?

#54 the Christian Taliban is not a large majority of the population by any stretch. I would say that they are in the 20% range. Just being Christian does not make one a member of the Christian Taliban. It's those, like Dobson, who have chosen to pervert the message in the bible and draw their little hate lines in the sand, who are the Christian Taliban. Organized prayer in school or our government recognizing one religion over another is another no no. Take a few minutes and read the constitution, in addition to that your argument will come back that the founders had god on their minds, but also read Madison and Jefferson's separate remonstrance's against religion. The founders were a lot smarter than the current rulers.

#56 sometimes kids can have both parents at home, working and providing for them, and the parents can still be losers. For an example go to your bathroom and stare at the shiny piece of glass hanging on the wall.

#61 That's funny as the Taliban leaders are almost always referred to as radical conservative Islamic leaders.

This must be one of the funniest comments I have ever seen (considering the source)...

If you want to be part of a cilized society you have to be prepared to take on the moral obligation of a civilized man.

I have no problem with that... However you have shown some traits that I would not call either Moral or civilised... let's have a look.

    Strong Moral outlook:

Against "Rampant Sexual Conduct" - Check
Against bringing unwanted babies into the world - Check
Against Discrimination - Oh Dear, no not that one.
Against Name calling - Whoops, another failure.

    Well, let us try civilised...

Understands the basics of the civil society that he lives in - Nope, you don't understand the Constitution very well
Follows his beliefs - Sort of... But as you don't seem to understand the principle teachings of the moral/religious leader that you follow it's really a No.
Can follow a civil debate without resorting to attacks and fallacies - No, that's a big loss there.

IRI, when you behave in a moral and civilised manner then you can tell people how to do so.

You might want to remember the teachings of Christ that mention the mote in your brothers eye and the beam in your own.

Back on topic, let's see how Pres. Bush's credibility is faring on the other side of the fence:

The consensus on the Right was that President Bush's fifth State of the Union Address was his worst. Republican members of Congress agreed privately that he was most effective at the beginning with his familiar message of why U.S. forces cannot abandon Iraq. The problem for these lawmakers was the rest of the 51-minute presentation, which was filled with unpleasant surprises.

Ryan, it's interesting to me how bright kids are - all kids - at 14,15,16... (even the ones failing are smart, just not great test takers). I'm not sure what happens to them between that age and adulthood. I'm really not. And if we can figure it out, maybe there's a way to fix it.

This week we talked about the sun - where it came from, how it works, and what will happen when it runs out of fuel. Not one single one of the 120 students I teach said one single word about creationism or seemed to have any problem with the reality of our solar system. In fact they are asking me about black holes and can I actually show them a star supernova? They are genuinely interested in the real science of our universe. What I don't know is why they forget or how...

Just something we do to hone our debating skills, and sometimes for play. I don't think most people are serious about it. It's just more intense with the veil of anonymity, I suppose.

When I'm not in the mood for it, I just skip those posts. There's usually someone else doing the same with whom to have rational dialog.

So much for the retarded republicans that believe this is a slam dunk. Bite me you fascist morons! Americans are smarter than you think, and you’re definitely more stupid than you sound!

I see they let you out of your room Ryan. Those "time outs" suck don't they?

But I gots to ax you. What possible connection to some poll published by "Screw Them" Zuninga, homosexual activist, have to reality and the majority of US citizens? Hummm? None is the correct answer. Americans WANT our military spying on enemy agents, terrorists and traitors. Nobody want to be spied on by the government so to ask them is stupid. Why not aske them if they THINK the government is spying on them? Nope, can't do that and get a 99% negative can we?

I'm glad your back. I missed pissing on your pant leg.

JIMMY CARTER HYPOCRITE AND RABID MOONBAT? SAY IT AIN'T SO!

    Carter allowed surveillance in 1977
    By Charles Hurt
    THE WASHINGTON TIMES

But in 1977, Mr. Carter and his attorney general, Griffin B. Bell, authorized warrantless electronic surveillance used in the conviction of two men for spying on behalf of Vietnam.
The men, Truong Dinh Hung and Ronald Louis Humphrey, challenged their espionage convictions to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, which unanimously ruled that the warrantless searches did not violate the men's rights.
In its opinion, the court said the executive branch has the "inherent authority" to wiretap enemies such as terror plotters and is excused from obtaining warrants when surveillance is "conducted 'primarily' for foreign intelligence reasons."
That description, some Republicans say, perfectly fits the Bush administration's program to monitor calls from terror-linked people to the U.S.
The Truong case, however, involved surveillance that began in 1977, before the enactment of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which established a secret court for granting foreign intelligence warrants.
Democrats and some Republicans in Congress say FISA guidelines, approved in 1978 when Mr. Carter was president, are the only way the president may conduct surveillance on U.S. soil.
Administration officials say the president has constitutional authority to conduct surveillance without warrants in the name of national security. The only way Congress could legitimately curtail that authority, they argue, is through an amendment to the Constitution.
The administration's view has been shared by previous Democrat administrations, including Mr. Carter's.
When Mr. Bell testified in favor of FISA, he told Congress that while the measure doesn't explicitly acknowledge the "inherent power of the president to conduct electronic surveillance," it "does not take away the power of the president under the Constitution."
Jamie S. Gorelick, deputy attorney general in the Clinton administration, agreed. In 1994 testimony before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, Miss Gorelick said case law supports the presidential authority to conduct warrantless searches and electronic surveillance for foreign intelligence purposes.
Earlier this week, however, Mr. Carter said it was "ridiculous" for Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales to say the spying is justified by Article II of the Constitution.

    Hi Sharon,

Always appreciate your thoughts... Definitely something worth consideration. There are a lot of kids dropping out these days, and when I ask those who knew them why they went, they say that those students didn't think school was teaching them anything important, or they were bored, or something along those lines. I know I find a good bit of my time going to teaching them self-worth and value of an education. But I wonder if it even matters. Some teachers are really amazing (I even like to listen to their lectures). Others are making the problem worse. No Child Left Nehind is horrific. It's all about standardized tests and money. Not about the kids, the reality they are about to run smack into or what works best for them as individuals who who learn differently. We seriously need education reform in addition to political reform - as I think the two are related. But I don't hold my breath either. :) Thanks for your input.

    Enjoy your Saturday!

Great, the two of you in a room together again... just what I was missing.

You know, I'm just sick of the party clashes. The Democrats will battle anything teh Republicans say just because theyare Republicans, while the Republicans will battle anything the Democrats say just because they are Democrats. And inthe process, we're missingthe real point. We're missing that our education system is now 7th in the world and slipping, that many children in this country are living in poverty (which means they aren't eating well), and that the rest of the world hates us.

Since my liberal votes don't count in the red state where I live anyway, where there is an option, I'm planning to vote for anyone who is not a Republican or a Democrat (or a lunatic) this Fall. Even if Independents can't win, they can atleast be feared.

Unbelievable and big papa, well done. I agree and I live in a blue state, however my representatives rarely give me anything to hang on to except lip service and excuses why they didn't do what was right in their votes. Many are nothing more than Rep.lieing lite's. Voting against them in 2006, going with any one else that's anti war and for the people and enviroment. Regarding our school system a little personal background. In the 50's several of us wanted to take shop, wood and engine building. Girls were not allowed. Everyone of us ended up dropping out, getting married at 16 and having children. Years later through hard work I went into cabinet shops as the first woman in those areas. Learned from the bottom up, then went into furniture mfg and assembly, electronics and finelly I was able to get into engine building through racing. Small block Mopar's were my specielety. Have given a lot of thought on the educational process, having missed much through poor choices and bordom of my own and raising children, mine and others. First off the No Child left behind is a terrible joke, thought up by this terrible administration. All children must be fed a good diet, in home or school and then taught whats relevent to survival and everyday life. We must feed their bodies and minds and build on their inquisitive nature. Never mind the relegious Bull s***. How about just being kind and considerate. Let the relegious aspect be of their choosing.Next we need to have the teachers that are inspiring the young and they need to be paid well, that has never been the case. Tests mean little if after the test there are no jobs to go to except McDonalds. See lots of seniors older than me going back to work because they can't get medical coverage and S.S is not getting it in today's econemy, many are going hungry, our food bank's overwhelmed. The list goes on and on. Inspiration and building a country that is being torn apart is diffacult and I am not talking about Iraq although I could be.

Hay, big papa, love the discriptive words directed at trolls. Just don't get booted off the site...Like I said in another post,,so glad to see Ryan back....Blessings

Bush is quietly destroying the Abramoff investigation and prosecution. He has removed the prosecutor who has worked on the case for 2 years. Repubs have put Tom DeLay, partner in crime with Abramnoff, on the congressional committee that oversees the investigating agency. Want to bet DeLay gets at most a slp on the hand? Ney will take the fall, maybe a couple others, and Dems will be targeted to neuter their criticism - they did the same thing during the theft of billions from the Savings and Loans in the 90's by, primarily, Republicans. With this money they buy radio and tv adds, newspapers, magazines. Now the Mafia has moved in closer and bolder, to the top, via Abramoffs gambling adventures with John Gotti.s lieutenants and Congressman Ney officially denouncing Guds Boulis weeks before he was murdered - by Abramoffs partner. Murder, money, mayhem,,,,,mafia. Isn't this deliciously exciting?

The greatest threat to “national security” is the current administration’s systematic weakening of our national principles and the erosion of the framing document, which supports them: our Constitution. That work outlines what is necessary for a people to be genuinely free and “secure.” It includes the inalienable rights of a free press and the freedom to air one’s thoughts without fear of reprisals, any reprisals, including corporate or institutional censorship. When hard scientific knowledge that would make our nation more “secure” is suppressed because it contradicts the administration’s ideology, it is time to do some reality checking (“Climate Expert Says NASA Tried to Silence Him, ” Andrew C. Revkin, NYT, 1/29/06). Let us pray that freedom-loving people of America wake up, weigh in, and speak out so that America does not become like the Germany of 1938 – too late to stop the administration, too weak to overpower it.
